STRENGTHS

• Guard Dog: The EDE is small enough to accompany infantry patrols through streets or alleyways, and can be comfortably fielded with individual squads.
• Pint-Sized Terror: Despite its light profile, the EDE possesses both anti-infantry and anti-vehicle weaponry, backed by multiple shield systems and armor to match.

• Napoleon Complex: The EDE is intended to operate alongside a squad, and can neither survive sustained anti-vehicle fire, nor handle tasks more complex than patrolling a set area on its own.

DESCRIPTION

A small infantry fire-support walker, the EDE is optimized for speed and firepower.

The EDE's primary purpose is to move alongside and assist infantry formations, to which end it is often attached at the squad level. It is used to patrol occupied areas, enforce curfews, intimidate civilian populations, and other such tasks.

To this end, it is fairly small for a walker droid, only around 3.3 meters in height. Its profile is hunched and predatory, evoking the profile of a carnivorous bird, and it is more than swift enough to chase down most fleeing life forms.

Despite this compact profile, the EDE is well-armed. A twin-linked Clamor HMG rests on each stubby arm, accompanied by a single Vertigo Missile Launcher on the right shoulder. This armament poses a significant threat to enemy infantry, as well as light or medium vehicles.

Likewise, the EDE is well-protected, sporting dual-phase exotic shielding and armored Helsteel skin.

It hasn't taken long for the EDE to be roundly hated by populations that regularly suffer Helix's attentions. The walker has become the face of barbarism and brutality the galaxy over, and its image can be seen in films, propaganda posters, and building-side murals in every corner of the known galaxy. Its intimidating yet memorable appearance ensures that this reputation isn't going away anytime soon, particularly as the EDE is normally among the first droids deployed when the Privateers' metal boots hit the ground.

This is compounded by the tendency of their accompanying squads to order these droids to destroy buildings, terrorize rebellious populaces, and break early resistance. Their incredibly inhumane armaments and unhesitating violence render them well-suited for these tasks.

Occasionally, these droids are loaned out to other Sith-aligned parties, where they normally serve in much the same capacity.
