DESCRIPTION

The Vertigo is a light surface-to-surface/surface-to-air missile launcher intended primarily to be mounted on vehicles.

As such, its size and weight are considerable, but on a vehicle or fixed emplacement, this weapon has its virtues.

The Vertigo is designed to deploy explosive chemical payloads at distances far greater than infantry can typically reach. As such, its normal warheads are condensed X19 munitions. This horrific substance needs no introduction, as it has burned cities and poisoned landscapes the galaxy over. The Vertigo is simply a method of delivery.

These computer-guided missiles are contact-detonated, and shower a wide area of effect in their vile chemical passenger. X19 can cheerfully eat through metal, stone, flesh, and bone, and as such these missiles pose enormous risks to living things within their radius. As X19 is profoundly radioactive, even brief exposure can potentially cause numerous serious health problems, to say nothing of the initial thermal shock and 4th-degree burns the substance is capable of causing.

As such, the Vertigo is capable of threatening infantry, buildings, light or medium vehicles, aircraft, or most anything else that enters its considerable range of fire. Should its operator deem it so, the Vertigo is capable of firing in a surface-to-air-to-surface manner, causing the missile to fly in a steep upward trajectory before coming downwards at a similar sharp angle. This can allow it to defeat some forms of vehicle armor, as many tanks are less heavily-armored from above.

This same capability can allow the weapon to serve as light rocket artillery, dousing a wide area in indirect fire.
