Dominion Echoes of the Past - TSE Dominion of Hast

Objective 3/4: Obtain samples of virus and antivirus

It wasn't that she had dealt with rakghouls before, she had facilities in the Taris Undercity after all and she had developed her own version of the plague with the Subsumed strain, it was... she honestly was disappointed as her lightsaber cleaved through another one of the mutants. The Lady of Secrets had elected to lead the mission to the downed cruiser that had antivirus capsules within for the rakghoul plague, and it had been her hope that the rakghouls here were different. Something interesting birthed in a mad scientists lab, a new strain even!

Imagine her disappointment that they were just vanilla rakghouls, not even acid-tipped claws or sonic screeches that could tear through armor, not enhanced intelligence or strength, or cloaking capabilities. Just vanilla.

"Six man squads, layered firing patterns," she ordered as they neared the cruiser. She really didn't need to tell the Legionaries with her. They were all a part of the emerging Sorzus Legion and were familiar with protocols on dealing with Sithspawn that got loose. Rakghouls were just another creature they had handled in their time serving under the Dark Councilor.

She did have to wonder how the outbreak occurred. Had Gir and Reshmar been experimenting with it and never told her? It would make sense in a way that those two from the Directorate would be trying to find a cure or even anti-mutagen to reverse the process... and without proper consultation on containment. No wonder once they left it had devolved so quickly.

"And make sure the capture squads are taking some specimens back to Amaltanna," she continued. "Plain rakghouls they may be, but we can always use more samples. Maybe we might find something interesting in their DNA that just hasn't evolved yet."

Well, initially there seemed to be no danger. Despite looking as thoroughly as he could, Gaius found no sign of conflict. The sounds of the Rak'Ghouls seemed to just echo about the facility, making it hard to pin down the source. He missed out on what Cara was showing him, as rather than a Rak'Ghoul, he spotted a shape rushing towards him as a break neck pace. His saber ignited, only to find the shape moving past him, though he didn't realize the intended target wasn't himself, but rather Cara.

That wasn't the first realization he experienced however, rather that privilege was the sensation of something shoving it's way into his leg, prompting an empty shout to be drawn from his lips. He dropped down onto his stable leg, as the arrow head punctured through his right leg. Blood pulsated out from the wound, turning the mute's mood quite sour. He looked back to the other two, trying to sign to them with his hands, before realizing how futile the whole ordeal was. Limping into cover, he took a moment to assess his wound, knowing that there was a risk at being attacked by the unseen attacker. Holstering the lightsaber, he apprentice took hold of the arrowhead protruding out the front of is leg, and snapped the tip off. He couldn't get any help from the others it seemed, but that was nothing new. Taking a moment to bask in the pain of his leg, he yanked the rest of the arrow out too, mouthing quiet profanities as he did so. Unfortunately, the scent of flesh blood would draw Rak'Ghoul's to the group as well.

He would look for signs of the new attacker, though he was concerned about the crazed Rak'Ghouls that were lying in the wait; what kind of madman would come in here looking to start a fight? Then again, were they much saner for coming in here? Probably not.

Caide struggles to his feet, shoving debris and bodies off of him. The sudden force blast and the violence that followed had knocked him unconscious, and now he was alone on a death planet. Fantastic. Hearing a commotion to his right, he runs in the direction of the noise of combat. It may be dangerous, but at least conflict meant people. Rounding a corner, he arrives just in time to see Cara Dorniarn Cara Dorniarn hefting a boulder at an unseen assailant like a shotput. Well, it was super powered narcissist cultists or man eating abominations. He sprints towards Dornairn and ducks for cover, silently leveling his rifle in the direction she threw the rock.

Lark

Saint of the Damned
For a brief moment, Lark felt a little bit of satisfaction. Dorniarn probably didn't enjoy being hurled to the ground so unceremoniously, but there was little else that he could have done to save her from injury, or worse. Now they were all aware that, aside from the rakghouls, there was another unseen foe hiding somewhere within the shipyards. That made their situation far more complicated, but at the very least they had a bit of information they might not have had otherwise. Perhaps the ghouls would target this new adversary the same as they targeted the Sith? It was a plan worth exploring, if the opportunity arose.

Then the arrow struck Gaius in the leg.

Lark grimaced, the arrow had sailed right past where Cara was and drew blood from her apprentice instead. What are the odds of that happening? The man let out an impressive string of silent curses, and from another direction Lark could hear another approaching horde of the ghouls. They were drawn to blood like a politician was drawn to money. With rabid and feral desperation. That made them predictable, but no less dangerous. As Cara dealt with the invisible hunter, Lark turned his attention to the rakghouls. The Sith needed a brief moment of respite, then their strength would overwhelm the battlefield. The young acolyte sent out a storm of lightning from his fingertips, enveloping the beasts with azure sparks. Some fell, others shied back. But their wrath would come.

And it would be met with an equally strong rage.
