OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Drake
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Valrar
  • Average Lifespan: 40 Galactic Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Scattered
  • Description: At first glance, one would be forgiven in believing that the Drake is a completely separate creature from the older Wyvern Sithspawn strain. Reddish-orange scales and a more draconian appearance replaced that of the bat design, but the creature is no less deadly and carries over several traits from its predecessor in addition to brand new enhancements.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I and Type II
  • Average Height of Adults: 6.7 meters
  • Average Length of Adults: 6 meters
  • Skin color: Reddish-orange scales that become white on the creature's underside
  • Hair color: No hair
  • Distinctions: The most distinctive physical traits of the Drake are its large wings that allow it to sustain flight for long periods of time, the horns on its head that allow it to use screeches a sort of organic sonar, and its tail that contains a growth much like the Yuuzhan Vong Yaret-Kor that it can use to fire bioplasma at prey or enemies. Internally, the Drake has a few new tricks that also take inspiration from Yuuzhan Vong biots.
  • Races: No other races
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
Strengths:
  • While it no longer has to rely upon it to see, the Drake retains the echolocation ability of the Wyvern, although it has been enhanced. Utilizing an organ contained in the horns of the creature, the echolocation screeches act like a long-range sonar system up to several hundred meters away from the creature and allowing it to see more of its territory.
  • Another trait carried over from the Wyvern is the Drake's ability to survive in Type I and Type II atmospheres, although this time the creature only has one set of lungs but they have been modified to function with different gas combinations besides just an oxygen-nitrogen environment.
  • The simulacra yaret-kor from the Wyvern has also been enhanced for the Drake strain of Sithspawn, with the bioplasma it fires burning hotter and being more concentrated. If the Drake has a more metal-based diet, however, the bioplasma it fires will fragment into a spray like a scattergun blast.
  • After studying dovin basals, the Lady of Secrets was able to create a new organ within the creature that allows it to affect gravity on a local scale, much like the infamous bioconstruct of the Yuuzhan Vong. While it does not create singularities around it, the creature can intensify gravity to 2.5x Galactic Standard within a five meter radius for a few minutes to hold prey or enemies in place by emitting something similar to an inhibition field.
  • A trait introduced by adding Arkanian Dragon DNA into the creature's sequences is the ability for the creature to expel stored up bioplasma from its mouth, almost like a lava-like flame breath attack.
  • The scales that replaced the chitin armor of the Wyvern are much stronger than before, taking on traits from the Arkanian Dragon scales that make it highly resistant to small arms fire from blaster fire, slugthrowers, and even glancing blows from a lightsaber.
Weaknesses:
  • Sonic attacks are still highly effective against the Drake strain, as weapons like a sonic grenade or emitter can hamper its sonar ability. The creatures will attempt to fly away from such attacks as fast as they can. Sonic attacks can also disrupt its ability to intensify gravity.
  • The Drake has a finite amount of bioplasma that it can either expel as a breath attack or as a projectile from its tail. To create more, they need to consume silicates or metal and digest the material so it has to be sparing when in longer fights against enemies.
  • While the scales of the Drake are stronger than the old chitin, that protection still does not extend to the wings of the creature. Any tear or wound inflicted on the wings will force the creature to remain grounded until the damage is healed.
  • Direct attacks from the light side of the Force, such as Force Light, can severely injure or kill the Drake.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Silicates and metals, Carnivore
  • Communication: Screeches among others of their kind, can understand commands given in ur-Kittat, the language of the Sith.
  • Technology level: No technology level
  • Religion/Beliefs: No religion or belief system
  • General behavior: Drakes are even more aggressive than their Wyvern progenitors, especially when it comes to protecting the territory that they and their swarm have staked as their own. When not consuming silicate sources or metals, or hunting prey, they are engaged in patrolling their territory. Swarms generally number between six and ten individual Drakes, with the creatures perfectly fine with attacking as single individuals and carrying prey back to the nest or attacking in a pack and splitting the prize on the spot.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Yet another creation of the Lady of Secrets from her time undercover with the Jedi, the original Wyvern strain of Sithspawn had been her first foray into creating a Sithspawn capable of flight. In the years since, the creature has been a reliable addition to Sith forces, especially those utilized by Joycelyn Zambrano Joycelyn Zambrano . However, Darth Arcanix wanted to revisit the creature and improve upon its form and abilities as further research had given her more ideas to add to the creature that was a testing ground for faux Yuuzhan Vong biots.

Spaarti Creation geneticists had figured out how to create an organ within a creature that would act similarly to a Yuuzhan Vong dovin basal and Taeli greenlit the idea of implementing it in the new creature. The new monster, dubbed a Drake to continue the naming scheme of all Z-strain Sithspawn, could now intensify gravity in a given radius around it, while its bioplasma launcher was improved to be of a higher concentration and to have a different firing pattern if the creature had a metal-rich diet. Arkanian Dragon DNA was added into the mix, severely altering the creature's appearance into a more draconian form while also gifting it the ability to breath its bioplasma in a breath attack if the Drake so decided. While the creature now had a working set of eyes, the echolocation abilities of its predecessor remained and were even enhanced by a new sensory organ located in the horns on the Drake's head. The new sonar organ allowed the creature to observe hundreds of meters of its territory at once.

The new creature was, as all Sithspawn created on Valrar, released into the jungles and mountains and it quickly began establishing itself in the food chain of the creatures of the death world. Order of Shadows and Spaarti scientists observed that Drakes had a preference for muscling out Wyverns from their territory, either by killing them or forcing them to join their swarm as a scout for the main nest.
