OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a prison complex for captured enemies of the Imperial Confederation.
  • Image Credit: humanMars.net, concept art from the cancelled VR game "Dome City".
  • Canon: Domed City.
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Wookieepedia.
SETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Dome City.
  • Classification: Penal Colony.
  • Location: Bumos, one of the three moons of Mahporeem.
  • Affiliation: Mahporeem Imperial Remnant.
  • Population: Crowded. Mahporeem's campaigns against the enemies of the Imperial Confederation has pushed Dome City's capacity to its maximum threshold.
  • Demographics: As Mahporeem does not discriminate against who it captures and imprisons, Dome City is filled with various different species of aliens and humans. The facility also contains a small number of security and maintenance droids.
  • Wealth: Poor. Dome City is completely and utterly reliant on Mahporeem for all of its supplies and prisoners.
  • Stability: Low. Those who are imprisoned within Dome City are locked in a constant power struggle with the guards who run the facility. This is the main reason that Dome City was established on Bumos and not on Mahporeem, as Bumos has a Type III atmosphere, making any escape attempts far more difficult to achieve.
  • Freedom & Oppression: Being a prison complex, Dome City is exceptionally oppressive toward its prison population. Prisoners are expected to obey the guards without question, and have little to no rights within the facility.
  • Description: Located on the moon of Bumos, Dome City is a massive prison complex, one that is entirely encased in a transparisteel dome. This dome exists not so much to keep those imprisoned on the moon within it, but rather to keep Bumos's Type III atmosphere outside the facility. Dome City is capable of holding thousands of prisoners and hundreds of staff, and Maphoreem hopes that the facility will serve as the template for other prison complexes across the Weiss System.
POINTS OF INTEREST

The Dome

  • Dome City is defined by the massive, transparisteel dome that surrounds the entirety of the prison complex. Though it is often assumed that the dome exists to keep its prisoners trapped within it, in reality the dome was constructed to keep Bumos's Type III atmosphere out of the facility.
Comms Array
  • One of the most important locations in Dome City is the Comms Array, which allows the facility to contact Mahporeem for supplies and reinforcements. The Comms Array is also responsible for directing traffic to and from Mahporeem, including the many "work transfers" to Mahporeem's various scrap yards and ship breaking facilities.
Cell Blocks
  • The majority of those imprisoned within Dome City are located in the numerous Cell Blocks spread throughout the facility. Cell Blocks are only segregated by gender, and one can find my different species of aliens and humans residing within a single block. This is done purposely, to make any attempts at escaping or colluding with other prisoners more difficult, as these different species of aliens tend to speak different languages and have different cultural traditions.
Cafeteria
  • All prisoners are required to eat their meals in the cafeteria, whether is it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Should a prisoner miss their prescribed mealtime, they can expect to be physically disciplined and not receive any food until the next day.
Medbay
  • The Medbay in Dome City is especially advanced when compared to the other locations in the prison. This is not done out of kindness or sympathy to the prisoners, but rather to ensure that prisoners remain as healthy as possible for as long as possible so that the Imperial Remnant can continue to use them as laborers on Mahporeem.
Solitary Confinement
  • These cells are reserved for those who attempt to break the prison rules of Dome City or those who encourage violence against other prisoners or guards. No one knows what exactly goes on in these solitary confinement cells, as those who return from them are generally too traumatized to talk about their experience.
SECURITY
  • Maximum: Being a prison facility, Dome City employs a maximum level of security to ensure that prisoners stay in line during their imprisonment. Dome City's first line of defense comes from the permanent garrison of Junktroopers and security droids, who are tasked with keeping law and order within the prison. Prisoner scuffles, rioting and escape attempts are just a few of the issues that these prison guards have to deal with on a daily basis. In addition to its garrison, the very environment of Bumos itself serves as a security measure, as anyone who manages to escape the prison would find themselves knocked unconscious within minutes due to the lack of any available oxygen within Bumos's toxic atmosphere. Dome City can also call upon Mahporeem to send reinforcements via its Comms Array in the event that the prison guards lose control of the facility.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
  • For most of its existence, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant was confined to a single planet in the Weiss System, which of course is the planet Mahporeem. The Imperial Remnant has launched a number of missions to explore and colonize other planets within the Weiss System, but all of them have ended in failure. This can be ascribed to the inhospitable nature of most other planets in the Weiss System and a general lack of resources to support long term colonization missions.
  • Mahporeem's ascension into the Imperial Confederation, however, has now provided it with the resources and manpower necessary to support the colonization of other planets. Mahporeem's first serious attempt at doing this is Dome City, located on the moon of Bumos. Despite its name, Dome City is not a city in the traditional sense but is rather a large prison complex for enemies of Mahporeem and the Imperial Confederation.
  • The idea behind Dome City was a simple one: Mahporeem was going to need more manpower than ever before if it wanted to keep its new scrapping and salvaging contracts from the Imperial Confederation. For an Outer Rim planet, Mahporeem has a fairly large population and sizable number of labor droids. That being said, it quickly became apparent that Mahporeem's labor pool would be insufficient to fully support the Imperial Confederation in the long term.
  • Thus, the solution to this problem was Dome City. Mahporeem would build this prison complex as an intake center for the enemies of the Imperial Confederation, whether that was criminals from other member worlds, enemies combatants captured in battle or even political dissidents who may have asked just one too many questions. Regardless of their origins, the Imperial Remnant believed that instead of executing them for their crimes, they could be better used as workers in Mahporeem's many factories, scarp yards and ship breaking yards.
  • And so, Dome City represents what Mahporeem hopes will be the standard template for prison complexes within the Weiss System, full of the captured enemies of the Imperial Confederation. Of course, housing so many of these "enemies" in a single location may not be the best idea, and only time will tell if this experiment is as successful as the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant hopes it will be...
