The
Imperial Corsairs had been feasting as of late.
Ever since their tacit agreement with the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant, the
Imperial Corsairs had been wrecking havoc throughout the Outer Rim, preying upon anything even remotely related to
Jonyna Si
and the Wild Space Rebellion. Cargo vessels, passenger ships, medical transports, nothing was safe from the greed of the corsairs, and for months they had been raiding Si Tech and its subsidiaries, stealing supplies and taking its employees hostage for ransom.
All in all, it had become quite the profitable business for the corsairs.
But, of course, doing so was not without serious risk to the corsairs. For than a few of them had met an untimely end from passing warships and anti-pirate squadrons, and now that the Wild Space Rebellion was onto them, things were starting to really heat up for the Imperial aligned pirates. Raids were becoming riskier and deadlier for the pirates, and their losses were starting to mount from the attention that they were getting from the Wild Space Rebellion. Yet, the allure of credits was proving to strong to stop the pirate raids, and so they continued unabated, despite the inherent danger associated with performing them.
So when
Corvo Anattolius
signaled for some help, the
Imperial Corsairs were more than happy to oblige, sending a
Vigilant-class Picket Cruiser as backup, along with a pair of
Mauler Strike Fighter squadrons and a single
Scurgg H-611 Fighter Bomber to help Corvo disable whatever it was that had caught his attention. Finding
his ship had been easy enough, and the pirates had identified themselves to home the moment they were able to, not wanting Corvo to mistake them for Imperials or something like that.
But where was the enemy?
Clearly something had spooked Corvo enough to send a distress signal, but when the pirates arrived, their didn't appear to be anything attacking him or trying to get away. So what gave? Was it was false positive, a malfunctioning sensor, perhaps? If Corvo had made a mistake and wasted their time....well, the malfunctioning sensors on his ship would be the least of his problems! Surely he knew how expensive ship fuel was these days, no?
