Amarant

Dead Men End All Tales.
As someone who was handed control over a major faction twice as it went through some truly ugly dust-ups, you've miscalculated. Look, the attack on corporate assets by Lasedri and her mind-controlled clones is canon. It happened. You wanted it declared not-canon because it didn't make sense or wasn't possible, you could've gone to the Judges and went "hey, can we undo this?" But you didn't. You told everyone to stop and not do anything while not actually discussing it with the damaged parties (Danger et al).

In order to absolve yourselves you then made a post that said "it's being handled, ignore it" and linked to a private thread that allowed us no opportunity to respond IC to any of this. You protested the skirmish initially, and some people claimed that what we were doing was bullying. Tell me, did anyone of your people ask to be in the holoconference?

The thing is, I get it. Gen's writer had no OOC permission to do what she did, but the thing is, she had a mind-controlled army. Garter gave us the key to breaking some portion of that control, and we're raising hell or Cartao to make it happen. More than one writer has acknowledge the things that have happened. You've had opportunities to do the same, and refused.

Now, if you want to do minimal damage to Republic at this point, acknowledge that Lasedri's invasion happened, spare us the righteous indignation, and ask to start a thread for negotiations. We can have peace, but it comes at a price. That can be discussed IC.

Is it fair that you got the steering wheel after Gen lit the ship on fire? Nope. But don't blame the fire. Take command. As faction leader, you've gotta step up and start understanding that you're not safe just because you want to be, and that sometimes you have kowtow to unfair things to get by. That's politics. That's the game. And as someone who has been stabbed in the back by faction leadership on a few occasions, I humbly suggest you let go of your feelings and realize that the current situation is bigger than you want to admit.

Or, you can keep your hands over your ears and not make a deal with anyone. Suffer a little, or suffer a lot. These are your options, and you can thank the former dictator and her army of mind-controlled clones for them.

This is the sad part to me, because I'm sure a lot of people really do love the Republic, and love their faction for what it is. I can understand feeling blindsided, like this was something they were forced into, so I can understand them being upset. I commend those who, despite this, moved forward with IC plans - I forget most of their names off the top of my head, but there's some cool ones, who have both posted here and elsewhere. There are others who chose to just sit it out and not take any side - I also commend them, because while confused and lost, they did not lash out.

I hope that, moving forward, the Republic can work to make people feel more included.
I'm just going to toss this up here. If people were blindsided, it may be because they weren't looking in the Roleplay Discussion thread, where this whole thing was clearly spelled out. It was a long post, with graphics and everything, but here are the parts I think are important to this discussion:

The Republic: Red Dawn
So it's finally time. Genevieve's writer is stepping down from the Republic and more than likely leaving the site all together. But before he does so we agreed to give him a big send off, one that he would enjoy in order to end his favorite character. This event is our goodbye to Gen and it's been a lot of fun having to of being able to write with him.

To all members of the republic and the board as a whole. This is something that we have been discussing with the republic staff as a whole and we agreed to keep it hush hush due to it being part of Sven's last will and testament and honestly I can say it's paid off. We've got a lot of positive feedback and while the corporate take over wasn't planned it's certainly help build the suspense and hype of what happens next. This will be a mini event for the republic and of course as with all events participation is optional, once it is over everything will return to normal. Assets will be given back to all corporations, the senate will be reinstated, and the Jedi will be the peacekeepers of the light. There will be no rebranding, no going minor, this is not the end. This is something that's drawn a lot of attention to the republic to show that we love to write these large epic plots of loss and struggle in times of war not only from the hands of the One Sith but our own as well.

For the record we need to state this again. This is a side event, do not let it influence any current RPs you may have. All participation is optional.

Also I would like to make a huge thank you and shoutout to [member="Mantic Dorn"] despite some of their concerns and unwillingness they have been a champion about everything and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for exemplifying everything it means to be a writer and to tell a story.

If you want to see the whole thing rather than the bits I pulled, it's right here, but basically, it's all there, black and white, clear as crystal. You STOLE Fizzy Lifting Drinks! You bumped into the ceiling which now has to be... no wait, sorry, wrong plotline.

I could have sworn I motioned to neutralize the clones via the chips and work with the senators in exile to combat the Clone Army...

Or maybe my red dress was too distracting during the holo conference?

Part of this threads point was that Mantric and Kay were both -not on the site- while this was happening. Sure, they were for the holocall, but for the beginning? Nope, busy with real life and didn't even know.

And they shouldn't be punished or ranted against or blamed because they chose to spend time with their families instead of focusing on the actions on this board.

This thread makes me really, really sad. To see how hostile people on both sides can act, the rudeness, the trolling. Someone made an -image- to mock the creator of this thread.

Am I saying that @Mantric Dorn did the right thing here? Nope. Mate, you didn't. There were other ways to go about it, and I get it. You're frustrated. I was when i was given the New Order while the Mandos were coming to kill us off completely. It sucked, trying to figure out how to keep the faction alive. I couldn't, and people didn't like me because of it. But this isn't the solution.

I had more to say, but yea. I'm saddened by this.

... Mantic. ICLY GEN IS STILL THE REPUBLIC PM. Thats the end of it. You must understand the reactions were All IC. Im sorry that you guys didn't want the party you planned to be ruined by outside companies but i am sick and tired of seeing this OOC reasoning on why the Republic should not get the distrust from companies. Realistically no one should trust the Republic leadership anymore IC. Again IC, IN Character. Not you and the other OOC leaders... that is all i have to say about it. Accept this is how things will be, because people like Danger and myself are reacting IC, not OOC...

No one is mad at Mantric and Kay for not being around during this - no one is upset at them for delaying it and for having time with family, or saying they should spend time on this board 24/7. Literally no one has ever said this, though people have claimed it was said multiple times.

People are upset at each other for the attitudes displayed since this started - for the dismissive comments, the accusation of OOC targetting, the push for people to retcon their actions 'or else'.

In part, yes, the problems with the event came from when the event chose to launch - some of us are not of religions that celebrate christmas, so we were around when it started. Others just had the time during christmas! And while it sucks that, due to the speed of posters and holidays and stuff, your ideas were not at the ground floor... that's life.

Honestly, all the problems of this event probably could have been avoided, had it been launched at any time besides... you know, Christmas day? It was remarkably bad timing. But... you can't change it. You can't change any of what happened in the event now, and getting mad at people OOCly over how it turned out isn't fair to anyone - it just makes the board look bad.

As has been said multiple times, if the GR had been out and open, planning with people, working together with people, this would have gone very differently. But the first reaction by republic players to the actions of the sith/techno union/companies was basically 'butt out this is a republic PLOT and you aren't involved!', not 'hey, lets work together to make this even more fun!'

These are the reasons people are upset at the republic.

It has nothing to do with vacation times or being gone.

It has everything to do with attitudes and responses.

These attitudes are still continuing, to this moment.

How are Mantic and Lady Kay being punished? I honestly feel like other writers are trying to HELP them here. They're taking over as new Faction Admins, and they have to get used to a lot of things being out of their control. This is one of those moments where they can try and accept folks' help and advice on this, much of it here in this thread. Even if it's coming across as tough love.

Or they can keep fighting it. It's really up to them.

Other than the "facts" image, I don't really see alot of trolling here.

Cat's out of the bag. Unless Staff starts dropping non-canon tags on threads, then one person who is not staff can't just make that unilateral claim on their own.

This sadly does not work. Threads are going.

The person I tagged was the person I was talking to. They blamed them for not having reported Gens post when it went up. They, however, were not here to report it.

[member="Chevu Visz"]

I don't consider tough love a viable option to strangers, or acquaintances. But that's my opinion. And I wanted to state it from what I've seen and read.

If it doesn't coincide with what you think, I apologize. But we're all different people. And this is what I see, and it truly makes me sad.

I'm out for now though, clearly my words aren't welcome and must be corrected. Sorry to any i may have offended, if I had. I can never truly type out what I'm thinking in a way people will think the same way.

@Mantric Dorn I'm sorry you got the short end of the stick. This kind of thing really, truly, does suck. I hope you can push through it.

The problem is, that this story arc doesn't involve just the pubs anymore.

The minute other factions got involved, which they were encouraged to do by the writers of the Prime Minister coup/clone story who were at the time members of the Republic, then it's not a matter of just "don't RP with the pubs."

Other factions and a wide variety of characters have already been affected by the story. And a whole board shouldn't have to change their stories or ignore a story, because one or two people want to retcon something.
