STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum):
Strengths: Long-ranged fighter, with short range combat being greatly-aided by his left-hand glove (further described below and will be even more explained in the Factory once post requirement is completed)

Weaknesses: Most-likely unable to use lightning-based attacks during combat (will need further knowledge of substance in left-hand glove). Is heavily reliant on left-hand for short-range combat, therefore if the left hand is cut off, guarding will be much more difficult, and if the right hand is cut off, his ability to fight will further be reduced as his guarding hand is now wielding his lightsaber, and his right hand is his primary hand.
APPEARANCE:

Top: Black Jedi tunic akin to that of Anakin Skywalker, but more matte. When not in active combat a large full-length leather trench coat with an oversized cloth hood (the hood being like that of many Jedi and Sith) is worn on top of the tunic. He tends to keep is lightsaber in the left-hand inside coat pocket of his trench coat which is at mid-chest level.

Bottom: His pants are analogous to that of black Hakama or Phat pants. He wears lightly-tractioned boots to allow for a good combination of protection against the elements while not sacrificing mobility.

Gloves: His gloves are somewhat asymmetric. Both gloves are elbow-length black leather gloves that are securely held to his arm via two small leather belts on each glove. The left-hand glove is unique in that on the palm and palm-side parts of the fingers and thumbs, the glove has pieces of Songsteel on it in such away that it allows him to safely grab a lightsaber blade, while still hiding the fact that the glove has Songsteel on it if someone were to see the gloves from the backsides.

Lightsaber (Benjamin Ducaal): An average Jedi body that produces a 32" blue blade.

Lightsaber (Darth Xerac): A modified Reaper body (once I construct it, I'll post a picture) that produces a 40"* red blade.

*I'm going to purchase the 40" blade for my IRL version, but the blade sits an unknown amount inside the hilt, so the effective length is going to be an inch or two less.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born Benjamin Ducaal, he was the only child of a middle class family on Coruscant. Very early in his life an unknown Jedi, about to return back to the Academy to report his findings on a recon mission felt the presence of young Ducaal. While not as intense as Yoda, it was still quite strong enough to pique his curiosity with the boy. The Jedi, upon getting the boys' age, realized that there was the potential for a strong Jedi to be made out of the young boy. The Jedi asked to meet Benjamin's parents, and Benjamin brought his new-found Jedi home for supper.

At the Ducaal residents, the Jedi explained the situation to the mother and father. While at first the parents were understandably fearful of letting their little boy go to train as a warrior, they eventually decided that since there son has such a wonderful gift, why should it be kept dormant by whatever career Benjamin would have had otherwise?

As the years passed, and the now-Padawan Ducaal became relatively skilled in both the ways of the Force and the ways of lightsaber combat, he began to grow rebellious. This rebellion wasn't the cliche hormonally-unstable teenager rebellion (although such a factor surely didn't quell the rebelliousness), but was rather an outright distaste for the lightsaber combat he was taught. To him, when you wield something as powerful as a lightsaber, you shouldn't need to take five, ten, or however long it seems to take to kill your enemy as is apparent by the greater majority of the duels. To the Padawan, all of that saber flourishing is just wasted energy that could have been used to cut one's enemy in twain. For the time being however, Benjamin kept his opinions to himself, and only occasionally bringing it up during training to see if his master could justify the actions. Needless to say, Benjamin wasn't very swayed by the answers.

As the time for Benjamin to partake in the Jedi Trials neared, his hatred of the Jedi's flamboyant combat was further fueled by his radical view of the Force (which will be explained when I make the faction). Benjamin's view on the Force was contrary to all other views on it, and as his distaste for the Jedi Order itself grew and grew, he began to contemplate running away.

About a week before his Trials were to be done, Benjamin and his master sparred for one last time. He dueled his Master in the ways he was taught, and as the duel entered its' fifth minute, he saw his chance to escape. Benjamin launched a heavy Force Push on his master, launching him backwards. As his master flew through the air, Benjamin threw his saber at his master. He manipulated the trajectory and spin of the throw just so that it cut off the foot of his master. Benjamin's master writhed in pain and shock (both physically and mentally) as he lay there clutching to his singed stump of a leg. Before he had the time to even look up at Benjamin, it was too late, and Benjamin had Force jumped away.

Benjamin, now partly saddened from injuring his master, excited about leaving the Jedi Order, and quite confused at what his next move was, got into the interceptor he used to get to the sparring grounds, and jumped away to Dantooine to begin his own training, and make up his own fighting style, along with refining his view of the Force.

Upon arriving at Dantooine, Benjamin dawned his black tunic and constructed his new lightsaber, the first two aesthetic changes to his transformation into Darh Xerac. It was on this planet that he began to unlearn the "energy inefficient" and "showoff-y" lightsaber combat that he was taught, and began to learn his own.

Benjamin figured that so long as he could keep his opponent at range, he would be at an advantage to that of the flourishing short-to-mid range attacks of the Jedi. It was at this point that he added the extra length to his blade. Benjamin's fighting style began to greatly mimic that of the Samurai (this statement is just an analogy to the Samurai of feudal Japan. It is only by coincidence that his fighting style mimicked it since Samurai aren't in Star Wars canon), and as such he realized the importance of hiding his foot movements. Here he dawned the black Hakama/Phat pants that Darth Xerac wears.

After a while, he decided to change his name as to hide his true identity. While giving himself a grandiose name might attract attention, it would probably benefit his anonymity with respect to his born name in the end.

NOTE: What my character has, in terms of equipment/clothing ends here. Beyond this point is what I plan on getting for him. Once I acquire these, I will delete this note.

Since long range was in Benjamin's interest when it came to fighting, he began to think of ways to put a person back out of range when fighting. Using the Force would most likely knock both fighters out of range of each other, and therefore wouldn't benefit him. He then began to contemplate using a piece of armor instead of the Force. His master had mentioned that "all but a few materials were hopeless against a lightsaber", and so Benjamin went out to seen what these few materials were. Upon studying each one is detail, he finally chose Songsteel for its guaranteed protection, and aesthetic qualities. Benjamin then purchased the black leather gloves and augmented the left one with small pieces from a sheet of Songsteel that he had acquired. Around this time he had found the trench coat, which he figured would come in handy during the winter.

By this time, the Jedi had gotten wind of a mysterious black clothed reclusive Jedi on Dantooine with a fighting style that is like nothing anyone had ever seen. Nobody knew at the time that it was Benjamin, but the Jedi were concerned about the black clothing and red blade, so they sent out a pair of Jedi to investigate. The two Jedi approached Benjamin. Benjamin immediately realized that they were of the Jedi Order and became furious. His anger subsided slightly when he realized that this was the perfect time to test out his new fighting style. He ignited his long crimson blade from the hilt of his saber, and in response, so too did the Jedi ignite their blades. One of the Jedi recognized Benjamin and attacked, seeking justice for what Benjamin did to his master. The attacking Jedi, upon getting within range of Benjamin, lifted up his lightsaber and just as be went to bring it down, Benjamin lifted up his left hand and grabbed the Jedi's lightsaber. Before the Jedi could recover from the shock of what just transpired, Benjamin swung his lightsaber across the Jedi, cutting him in half. The second Jedi, now knowledgeable about the lightsaber resistant glove, carefully contemplated his next move. The second Jedi then decided on what to do. If Benjamin seems to rely on grabbing a lightsaber for a defense, perhaps flourishing the blade up until the strike will keep the blade moving enough that he can't use the glove. The second Jedi began to sprint up to Benjamin, and at about 20 feet away began to flourish his blade. As he got within range, he went to bring blade down on Benjamin's head, but Benjamin, with the aid of his unique pants, sidestepped from the attack. Before the attacking Jedi was able to recover from his failed attack, Benjamin cut that Jedi in half as well.
SHIP:
A lightly modified Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor. The secondary ion engines were removed in order to increase the range of the hyperdrive (have yet to decide if the increase is due to the decrease in mass/increase in available power output, or the open space was used to install a slightly larger/better hyperdrive).

Painted black with red trim to accentuate his defiance to the Jedi Order.

Having seen many a new members make the same error, some advice I offer is if you wish to make a new faction. Wait. Build up IC relations, meet people, get to know other writers. Then start planning a new faction and start getting people interested in it. Factions take a lot of time and effort to get started, I'd like to see you have your best chance at making it succeed.

Akio is correct. Of course, if you wish to start a new faction right off the bat, then feel free!

But getting a faction working requires other people to join you, so it may be best to join an existing one or be unaligned, gather together a group IC or OOC and then make the faction.

Also might be wise to be trained up to Knight first before taking over, but again, that’s not compulsory at all.

so its basically an apprentice in his mid thirties who hates the jedi for how they fight with lightsabers?

besides the fact an apprentice leading a faction.

It doesn't seem that hard. What more does it take than just filling out the form and submitting it? So long as you don't have any bully factions wiping you out early on, what makes it so difficult?

The problem is enticing others to your faction, keeping them interested, and making sure they focus on your RPs.

So it’s very easy to create a faction. Harder to make it stick. But, if you wish to start now, then I wish you good luck! :)

Making a faction is easy, making a faction a success is probably the hardest thing a person can do on this board. After being a board staff member anyway. If the faction only consists of you, it would not be a very fun faction for you would it?
