"You might be in luck, because I'm going to kill you before it can." The Sith wasted no time, knowing that he was in real trouble if he dared fight two Jedi Masters at the same time. So, hoping to exploit the weakening Mirialan, he raised his hand and a surge of lightning burst from his fingertips. Valery, however, had already felt his intent a moment before the attack, and jumped from the balcony into the path of the lightning.

The timing was tight, and right as she landed, the lightning struck the front blade of her weapon. The impact was too severe, however, and knocked her double-bladed weapon from her grasp. In an instant, and after one painful dose of electric current passing through her body, she funneled the lethal energy through the palm of her hand, and absorbed the stream of lightning.

Most of it, anyway, as occasional arcs jumped around her use of Tutaminis and burned the skin of her arms.

"Amani..." she said through a clenched jaw, hoping her friend could either relief her of this attack, or press forward to engage the Sith.

The Force first warned, then assured. Lightning arced her way, but Valery jumped in the way to intervene, as Amani trusted. Still, she flinched in the face of the electrical surge. Valery kept it at bay for a time, herself suffering some injuries in the process. Amani didn't like leaving her to deal with it, but she trusted her friend could handle the onslaught for long enough to give her this opportunity.

Val's voice cut through, forcing the healer to act. She still felt some of the poison in her system, but pushed through it to attack the Sith Lord. Amani swung in from Valery's flank, her saber pike ignited and wielded in both hands. She rushed forward, thrusting the blade at the Sith's gut with sudden surprising speed.

The familiar snap-hiss sound of Amani's blade was followed by a pained gasp, then a sigh of relief from Valery. The Quarren looked down at the blade that now punctured his gut and exploded out through his back. The lightning that had rippled from his fingers ceased, allowing Valery to drop her arms, and after one last moment of adrenaline keeping him standing, the Sith Lord fell onto his back and spasmed just a little.

He knew it was over, but even during his dying breaths, he refused to surrender to that idea.

"Thanks..." Valery managed after catching her breath. The Sith was dying on the ground in front of them, but Valery still felt a frown on her face, seeing it. "Let's put him out of his misery." She looked at Amani and dipped her head for her to finish the Sith off.

"You holding up okay? Can you flush the poison out?"

Regardless of how many times it happened, Amani always found herself taken aback by the finishing blow. Not quite as much as the recipient perhaps, but there was always the expectation of a counter, a dodge, something. But sooner or later, somebody always slipped up, and the fight would end just like that. She watched the Sith fall to the ground, each breath fading more than the last.

"Let's put him out of his misery."

Amani ignited her lightsaber again, but hesitated. Even with Valery's assurance, there was always that lull of confidence. The confidence needed to take a life, even if done out of mercy. She saw the light of the plasma reflected in the Quarren's pearl-like eyes, and frowned. Suddenly, before she could do the deed herself, the Sith's expression momentarily panicked, then relaxed. A death rattle gurgled from his throat, and his body went limp, at last succumbing to his already fatal wound.

Somewhat dejectedly, Amani disengaged her pike, and sighed. She had been so caught up in these last few moments that it took another reminder from Valery to recognize the poison. She clenched her hand and looked down at her arm. Veins were darkening as the poison continued to spread, the pain was flaring up. "Yeah," Amani once again focused on detoxifying herself, finally able to focus entirely on ridding herself of it, without the interruption of a Sith Lord.

"Hey, you did great," Valery said after noticing Amani's moment of hesitation. She reached out to place a hand atop her shoulder, and offered her friend a smile. She hardly needed reassurances — she was more than capable and had immense willpower — but sometimes even the best needed to be nudged out of the intensity of a fight like this. Valery herself got caught up in battles all the time, especially if there were personal elements to it.

When she felt she was fighting to protect the lives of friends or loved ones.

"If you need to sit down for a moment to catch your breath, go ahead. This place isn't going anywhere," she added before she started to look around.

"We'll have to figure out if there's more to this. Or perhaps if other locations exist."

Amani did find some reassurance from Valery, but she shook her head, "I'm good." She could feel the poison slowly draining from her system, the aches and numbness dissipating from her nerves. Then, she flexed her fingers and sighed freshly, confident she had been flushed of it's effects.

"Wouldn't surprise me," Amani replied. Sith loved their backup plans. Even if they were lucky enough to have found an isolated operation, but they'd still have to comb through and search to make sure that was the case. Work either way. "Maybe there's something we can find here? There's gotta be a holoterminal somewhere." The mirialan spotted one nearby some of the medical gurneys, and began clacking away to see if she could find anything of value. Perhaps her medical knowledge would be of some use if there were any findings, but if anything was encrypted or hidden, well, she wasn't exactly a slicer.

Valery nodded, clearly relieved that her friend was alright. It shouldn't have been a surprise that the Chief Healer could easily flush poison from her system, but not long ago, Valery had encountered a rather aggressive type of poison she had been unable to filter out on her own.

It made her feel a little more on edge about these things.

"I'm sure there's something, but uh, I'll leave the browsing to you." She smiled sheepishly — it was no secret that Valery and technology didn't mix all too well.

On the terminal itself, Amani would find some difficulties accessing important files. Many were encrypted, and unless she had the tools to bypass that, it would be impossible without the right password or credentials. But, within the titles of various files stored inside the machine, one word would likely stand out to her.

Mirial.

Amani looked through what she could, but as expected the spicier details were hidden behind encryption. The Chief Healer was certainly no hacker, and there didn't appear to be any codes nearby, so locked they would remain for now. However, one file stuck out, the name of her ancestral home: Mirial. "What?" She said in surprise, "What are they doing on Mirial?"

It had its share of tragedies in the past, and it was close to Sith influence even now. So it wasn't impossible that something nefarious could be going on there. Amani looked around, then pulled out a data fob, which she then inserted into the terminal, downloading all the files, "Probably shouldn't linger. But we can get the intel and comb through it back at the temple. Maybe someone there can decipher all this hidden stuff." Once it was finished, the tucked the drive back away.

"Mirial is only about a jump or two away from here. It's... possible their influence has spread." Valery spoke with a slightly more careful tone this time. She knew Amani still had a close connection to the planet and her people there, so finding out the Sith had their eyes set on it, regardless of why or how far their influence reached, was likely not easy to hear.

But they'd address it, once they knew enough.

"Yeah, we have some good people for it. After we crack the code, we can head back out to Mirial or send others to address whatever is there. Hopefully... it's not too bad yet." She flashed a faint smile, then turned away to look at the damage here. So many had died, and for what?

She shook her head and looked over her shoulder, "You ready to go?"

Amani sighed, resigning herself to accept the possibility. Mirial had a history with the Sith, given its proximity to their place of origin. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Sith continued to linger planetside in some capacity, perhaps having never even left. She tucked the data drive away safely once the information had been downloaded, "Hopefully," She repeated, although clearly without any heart in her tone.

"You ready to go?"

"I'm ready." Amani said, taking one last look at the mess left behind, then making a beeline for the door. Whatever the plan was with Mirial, she was now determined to stop it from seeing through.
