OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Apartment #717
  • Classification: Apartment
  • Location: 5316 Reflection Hideaway, Misery-Upon-Dream, Denon
  • Affiliation: Daiya & Hex
  • Accessibility: A private apartment located on the seventh floor of an low-security building.
  • Description: A small, two-bedroom apartment with a shared bathroom and a modest living space. It is designed to comfortably house 2-3 beings of compatible living accommodations, designed in a minimalist style geared toward aesthetics with the entire apartment wired for a neon-colored lighting. The place is not without its drawbacks, the smart aesthetic is made of cheap materials which can crack or adhesive that dries out quickly, and the building is one of many for an overextended and disinterested off-site supervisor. For its current occupants, however, the apartment is a major upgrade over previous living accommodations, and they've made it their own as best as possible with colorful decorations and a few modifications.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Entrance Hall: Just a simple entrance hall, with a floor mat near the door that sometimes hosts a couple pairs of wet, dirty boots.
  • First Bedroom (Blue): Hex's bedroom is kept in constant state of emergency. A mess covers the bed, desk and floor, and what few glimpses poke through are splattered with paint or the combustible fuels Hex uses for her equipment. The walk-in closet is filled with weapons, leaving only a little space for the minimal wardrobe she owns. A single sheet covers the bed, and a strewn cushion can often be found there with makeup covering one end.
  • Second Bedroom (Pink): Daiya's bedroom is sloppy in an organized fashion, with a stack of dirty dishes or a pile of clothes waiting to be cleaned up. The walls are covered in posters and smaller artwork on flimsiplast, their designs often clashing with each other. Her bed is made with patterned sheets, and the closet fits her small-but-growing wardrobe, with armor suits hung next to clothes on hangers and weapons/equipment occupying empty shoe cubbies. On and around her vanity desk are small holos of Daiya's friends, along with speakers that play the latest music found this week.
  • The Chute: A rubbish chute in the hallway, leading to the building's refuse disposal room far below. A hand-written note taped to the door reads: Don't stuff anything flammable in here! (SERIOUSLY!)
  • Refresher: A small refresher unit with a toilet, tub/shower, and sink. Some cupboards contain extra supplies, with most of the countertop full of beauty and hygiene products.
  • Kitchen: With more bare cupboards than stocked, the kitchen is technically capable of cooking a full meal in it. Neither girl uses it to its full extent very often in lieu of the take-out containers that often liter the counters, and its uncommon to find clean dishes or utensils readily available. The kitchen also includes a table and chairs for eating, but is more often used as a workspace for various projects.
  • Living Room: The heart of the apartment, and open to the kitchen/dining space. The living space is dominated by a large couch, big enough for two to curl up on or more to sit comfortably. Other seating can be added when needed, such as chairs from the kitchen or a bean-bag cushion that can travel all over the apartment. In the corner, an illegally-obtained holoprojector is installed, with some hacking and fiddling which allows it to receive the neighbors' Holoflix in addition to default programing common to Denon. It can also be connected to gaming systems or individual datapad for further entertainment. The room is strewn with blankets and pillows for plenty of comfort, while the walls have a curated set of the decorations that reflect both girls.
  • Sun Room: A tiny, relaxing room set off the living room with a view of Denon's neon jungle beyond. It has a door that can close it off from the living space for quiet or privacy. A police scanner is built into the cupboards of one wall, tucked away unless in use, below which is a regular holo-terminal with CryptNet protocols embedded. The other side has a long recliner for quiet solo activities like drawing or watching the traffic patterns. The transparisteel windows have had a jury-rigged emergency exit window installed, big enough for one of the girls and a hoverboard to fit through.

SECURITY
Medium - The apartment building is fairly low security, with a lock on frequently-accessed outer doors that serves more as deterrent than an obstacle. Internal CC-holocam monitors exist throughout the building, though the girls didn't trust the off-site monitoring contracter. Instead, they tapped into the line themselves and fed the feed into a display in the Sun Room. Additionally, an electronic lock protects apartment entrance, with a camera doorbell installed. While it may not stop a dedicated intruder, the combination can provide sufficient warning to anyone inside to prepare or arm herself from one of the extra blasters hidden throughout the apartment.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
After meeting Hex and inducting her to the shadowrunner life, Daiya discovered that her new friend lacked a permanent place to sleep. Living in a glorified closet gave the teenager not much to offer, but pooling two freelancer incomes allowed both of them to split the costs of a larger rental unit. Rented under a new alias, the apartment is wired with some better security and several modifications that make the place more of a home to both girls.
