OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To submit a device that serves as a watchtower within the Confederacy of Independent Systems
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Shard
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Pilot: For lack of a better term, the Augurs are a stationary device that can be "Piloted" by Shards.
  • Amplifiers: The Augurs serve as amplifiers to their "pilot."
  • Nexus Connection: The Augurs serve as a link between their "pilot" and any force Nexus that may be present on the planet.
  • Influence: The Pilot has the ability to cast the Force directly from its crystal, or through the Nexus to which it is attached (If applicable)
STRENGTHS
  • Watchtower: The Augur's array of Force Crystals have been imbued with amplification properties, allowing the Shard Pilots to have a massively increased vision across an entire sector (Hex) of space.
  • Nexus Connection: The ability for the Pilot to tap directly into the Nexus allows for them to spread their influence to the outer limits of the Nexus with ease, leaving all who enter the Nexus, Force Sensitive or not, clearly visible.
  • Force Focus: The Augur allows the Shard to cast Force Abilities without a physical body, enabling it to defend itself from physical attacks.
WEAKNESSES
  • Stationary: The Augurs are stationary, and cannot be moved once constructed.
  • Pilot: While not an entirely accurate description, the Augurs only function because of a Shard joined with the structure. Remove the Shard, and the Augur will be rendered inert.
  • Out of sight, out of mind: While the Augur is in watchtower mode, it is completely vulnerable to attack.
  • Difficult to Communicate: The Augurs do not feature vocoder boxes, meaning that the Shards piloting the Augurs can only be communicated with Telepathically.
  • Downtime: Watching an entire sector of space is tiring. Shards can only monitor an entire sector for 5 hours before they require rest. If a new Shard is not inserted into the Augur, the Augur will cease to function for a lengthy period of time.
  • Blind Spot: The Augurs cannot see anyone within a Force nullification field, regardless of source. They will, however, still know that the disturbance is there.
DESCRIPTION
The Augurs were designed by Voph after the recent and deadly incursion on Ryloth. The idea was simple: Create a platform that enabled a Force Sensitive to access the same Force Sight that he did, and serve as a living watch tower over their respective sectors of space. Given the lack of fortitude that most organics had, Voph turned to the sentient crystals known as Shards. Inorganic and content to live in a single place for their entire, virtually endless lifecycles, the Shards were perfect candidates for the Augur program.

Initially, only ten were built, intended to serve as Watchtowers over entire sectors of the galaxy, keeping tabs on anyone and everyone who may enter. They were placed at strategic locations all across confederacy space, and monitored by a team of Knights Obsidian who could communicate with the Shards, and assist the Shards in cycling tired shards with fresh ones, allowing the Augurs to continue their watch. The worlds selected for Augur placement were Geonosis, Ryloth, Monastery, Apatros, Vylmira, Christophsis, Fondor, Druckenwell, Thyferra, and Scarif. From these sectors, any who would come to visit did so under the watchful eye of the Augurs...
