Crusaders Lead The Way! - Dominion of Subterrel [Moross]

Sephoria Lasranae

The Devourer's Reaper
"DOORS OPENING ... DANGER CLOSE," shouted the reaper who had been attempting to splice his way into the mine blast doors. Several of the reapers and soldiers Loxa had brought scrambled to get into defensive positions. A shrill metallic groaning noise permeated through the area as the massive doors started to open.

Loxa and Sephoria weren't in the direct line of sight of anyone inside the mine shaft, so the shadow commander made no move to scramble into position as she knew everything was well in hand. Instead she simply pulled her Sith Sabre from it's sheath on her back. The dark gray blade was void of scores and even almost appeared to repel light.

"Our intel is just as poor. Still I figured if it existed it had to be housed in the mines or in the main compound. It was a fifty fifty chance, but I don't want to lose Reapers to the shock and awe campaign the main force will be waging on the enemy compound."

"CONTACT," came a shout by the doorway right before the sound of blaster fire erupted.

Loxa nodded, yellow eyes shooting towards the slowly gaping blast doors, "My objective is the Bishop. Once we have found and secured her I will accompany you to search for this device. It is not something that can be left behind, Aesir Neth commands it destroyed."

She did not immediately reach for her lightsaber, knowing the safety of discretion, but as soon as those bolts of blaster fire began ripping across the cavern it was no longer wishful thinking. The Steward leapt to cover at her right, pulling the hilt from her thigh and igniting the weightless golden blade. With a signal to her own crew, she sent forward the warriors of Ithari to back up Erebos' Reapers. When Jala made it close enough Loxa asked after their converted Guard from the forward gates only to find he'd been caught in crossfire and killed.

Loxa frowned but nodded, "Thank you sister, you did what you could. Let us find our Bishop." She stepped out from her cover then, calling upon the currents of the Force, and began slowly soldiering her way forward, lightsaber skillfully batting away blaster bolts towards the high walls.

Sephoria Lasranae

The Devourer's Reaper
"Bishop it is then," replied the Cronos softly just before she opened herself to the force. There was something raw and unrefined to Sephoria's signature that spoke of her only partial training. Still the woman seemed to have a good enough grip on her surroundings to reach up just as a blaster bolt collided with her hand. The bolt of energy dissipated and her signature rose as she converted the energy to fuel her rage.

Lasranae moved up to get behind one of the crusaders who was firing down range from behind an outcropping of rock being used as cover. She waited for a moment and listened to the exchange of fire before tapping the soldier on his shoulder to signify that she was moving up. He wasn't one of her shadow troops, but the training hadn't been really any different on the basics. The man held fire as she ran around at a slight crouch and dove into the next bit of cover that two enemies were occupying.

Her unholy Sith sabre cut the first man down and two shots from the rifle of a crusader in Kalee's colors took out the second man. Three more friendlies dove into cover with her just as Sephoria looked over to see Loxa moving up with her golden blade shining like a beacon for enemy fire to focus on. This made her chuckle.

It was by no means quick work moving through entrenched enemies, but she leaned her head up to look down the cavern and spied several figures retreating. Apparently pirates and mercenaries weren't of the quality to stick around for a losing fight. One more good push would likely have broken the last of them.

Loxa did not mind the attention her blade brought her. With nimble use of the Force and a quick pary of her blade, her safety was all but assured. Not to mention it drew the attention of their attackers, which gave her people ample opportunity to lay into them on their own. When the cavern finally went quiet Loxa pulled the golden blade hissing from the belly of a Pirate. She disengaged the weapon and clipped it back to her thigh.

"We have met very little in the way of coordinated efforts to refute our advances on the system, I suspect it will not be long bef-YAAAH!"

The Steward dropped to her knees suddenly, both hands at the sides of her head, expression pulled into one of intense pain. She wasn't the only one either, several others seemed to be battling with some internal headache pain. Loxa couldn't hear anything while it persisted, nothing but a loud, metallic whining noise, like a knife across a chalkboard.

As Loxa fell to her knees and screamed a hand suddenly grabbed her by the collar and pulled her off her knees and onto her side. She began to be drug forward across the rough flooring of the cavern in a rhythmic jerking movement.

Sephoria clenched her face and squinted her eyes at the intense pain that was wracking her body. It was a sensory overload attack of some kind, but she was able to maintain muscle control just enough to drag the Stewardess Visl to the ground. She couldn't hear it over the overpower screech in her mind, but there was a pirate in the distance laying down fire on them while they were incapacitated.

One hand gripping Loxa's collar while another hand reached forward. That was forward right? Yes ... forward ... pull ... extend ... pull ... extend ... wait what was that other thing you did after extend? What was so fracking loud?!

Something hit her shoulder hard making her let go of the Stewardess while tumbling onto her back. Her eyes gazed up and she squinted while trying to make out what appeared to be the hazy figure of some kind of humanoid with a stick or rifle or something.

Then the screeching suddenly stopped. Had it been eternity already?

Crystal grinned. She wouldn't even have to wake the man to rip the information out of his head. But, it was more fun to wake him and enjoy the agony that he'd be put through. She nodded to Camerong before moving over the unconscious pirate. With the Force, she lifted him off the ground by the neck and held him just off the ground. A wicked slap could be heard as she connected the back of her hand with his face. She still had to hit him a couple of times before his head shook and his eyes opened.

The Sith Princess smiled at him. "Oh good, you're awake. I need some information," she announced, before proceeding to invade his mind and painfully rip through it's natural walls and barriers in search of the information that she sought. It didn't even take a minute. Though the screams continued well after she was finished. That pirate would never be the same. Oh well. She let him drop to the ground and wandered back in the direction of Cameron, telepathically sharing the information that she'd stolen with him.

((OOC: Not slicing into the security room, rather the protocols for the entire complex. Sorry for the misconception.))

Cameron's silver-green gaze regarded [member="Siara Vorru"] for little more than a fleeting moment before he turned his gaze back to [member="Crystal"]'s return. With the information the follower of Hali shared, Cameron walked away from both women. Standing beside the slicer ready to access the security mainframe, Cameron wrote down the passcode before sliding it to the man.

There were several moments of silence before the system responded in full. Withdrawing his communicator, Cameron communicated with [member="Loxa Visl"] - hoping she was not too far underground to receive communications. "We've accessed the security mainframe or the entire network of mines. Dispatching the information to your datapad now..."

There were another handful of minutes as he slicer worked to establish a wireless connection. It was going to take time - seeing as the system was not high-tech enough to really be innately capable of the function. In fact, the technician would have to established a remote uplink point at that specific terminal to make it work.

In the meantime, Cameron fed Loxa what she'd need to access the protocols from any standalone terminal in the labyrinth of facilities.

Shrugging to herself Siara didn’t care how they got in as long as she got to shoot more pirates before the day was out. As she slicers gained access to the facility the doors were prepared to be opened for the company of crusaders on the outside. They would have to storm it fast, if she were the pirates on the inside of this facility she would setup choke points at every bottleneck. As the slicers established access to the mainframe and a map of the facility was uploaded to their HUDs it became quite apparent the facility beyond this door was a maze of chokepoints and blind corners, it would be a hard fight no doubt about that. She also knew that it was likely there were areas not indicated on this map, pirates and mercenaries were not known for their record keeping abilities.

“Form up for a charge, once those doors are open we are going to have to go in hot and find cover fast, they will have the advantage here but they are no match for you. The gods will see the faithful through this!” Siara ordered, she knew most of that was a lie but they needed confidence to storm this front and faith brought unnatural confidence to many. She didn’t need the gods for her confidence, she knew how good she was and certainly wasn’t going to rely on faith in a false god to bolster it.

The first squad of Crusaders formed up on the edges of the door ready to charge in, nothing would dissuade them as far as they knew it their gods were watching over them ready to give them unnatural abilities to bring them success in this mission and they wanted to make their gods proud. Siara formed up with the second squad behind them knowing most of the first squad would be cut down. The doors cracked open slowly and fire started to pour out from inside catching unprepared Crusaders and sending them rolling to the ground, their armor absorbing most of the impacts but there was enough concentrated fire to break through even the heavy armor and a few of the faithful died in the first moments of the engagement.

“Move! I want the infidels cleared from this place, the gods demand your best!” Siara ordered the first squad through the gap. They squeezed through trying to find cover inside the doors most of them being cut down as they spread out in search of cover that was surprisingly strategically placed well away from the main doors.

As the pirates fire dispersed to track the first squad to their first cover points Siara and the second squad swarmed in to be followed by more and more, the pirates and the crusaders traded fire with each other as the crusaders sought cover. The Kiffar mercenary opted to use blaster pistols for this close engagement and as she fired she moved quickly for cover of her own. Just as she was about to reach it she took a shot in the shoulder sending her spinning into her intended cover. She grunted with effort as she pulled the rest of her body into cover before inspecting the damage to her armor. The blast hadn’t had enough force to break the armor but it had dislocated her shoulder. It was certainly going to hurt when the shock and adrenaline wore off but she would find something to dull the pain later prescription or not.

As the Crusaders established a front they piled past the bodies of their fallen comrades, they would push forward only when ordered to do so and Siara wasn’t ready to give that command just yet. She wanted the soldiers to have a well-established line to fall back to if they had to do so, not that she would encourage a retreat. Checking the HUD as a medic approached and tried to treat her wounds the mercenary woman took command remotely for now letting the medic try to set the dislocated joint after removing the damaged armor from her shoulder and arm.

“First squad move forward, second squad suppressive fire, third and fourth squads press apply pressure on their flanks.” Siara ordered as she stifled a scream of pain, the medic was being none to gentle with her but that was to be expected he needed to move on quickly to the next injured soldier and didn’t have time to be gentle. He offered her a shot of painkillers but she waved him off she needed a clear head still.

Stepping from behind her cover to move forward with the rest of the company as the pirates retreated to their next strong point Siara holstered the blaster she was carrying on her injured side, she wouldn’t be able to manipulate it as would be required. She kept the other blaster in hand, keeping her injured arm close to her chest as doing so made the pain less intense.

Blackthorne

She of the Trillion Thorns
The Stewardess' cries echoed through the cavern within the din of the other Crusaders suffering the same ill effect. Several went down, victims to the Pirates taking advantage of the chaos - they were prepared, it seemed, and unaffected by the attack. She could feel herself being dragged, and by the time her body slumped against a side wall the affliction suddenly ceased.

Sputtering for breath and a grasp on her surroundings, she too, looked up in time to see the figure standing over [member="Sephoria Lasranae"]. She couldn't tell who it was, but her instincts told her not friendly. The Priestess lifted a hand and with a shout issued a blast of blazing yellow Force Lightning at the figure, watched it seize with a jittering yelp and crumple to the ground, smoke rising, the stink of singed skin and hair filtering through the air. Thank goodness for those breather-masks.

"The machine," Loxa continued to catch her breath, pressing herself against the wall at the sound of further blaster fire, "it is not destroyed." Or perhaps it was malfunctioning - the only way to find out was to find it.

Cameron waited several minutes with no really from [member="Loxa Visl"]. Closing his eyes, he allowed his senses to expand to encompass the labyrinth of tunnels and rooms that composed the expansive network of mines connected to the facility he occupied. He groped and searched the Force specifically for others that had the ability to manipulate it's currents. Managing to decipher several returns, his mind was almost immediately assaulted by an almost debilitating sound.

Withdrawing immediately, Cameron opened his eyes. He'd read the briefing on the operation, and he knew it likely had something to do with a referenced machine. However, it must have been far enough away at present not to have a large effect. Glancing down at the slicing tech, he issued new instructions. "Access the security footage. We need to find our people. Then I want the surveillance area correlated with facility diagrams to find us a route. We're going to isolate specific routes to our people and the hell out of here to help keep enemy forces contained until the rescue operation is complete."

The tech worked silently, but it was going to take him some time.

In the meantime, Cameron picked up and activated the internal announcement system. After tapping the microphone twice to ensure it was transmitting, the Sith Lord spoke in his normal deep, even tone.

"Good evening Crusaders and heathens. The Moross Crusade has taken control of this facility. Those that surrender and embrace the Way of Moross may find solace in the redemption of the Pantheon. As for the rest of you...the fury of the Gods await." By way of demonstration to fellow Crusaders and enemy alike, Cameron reached into the depths of the Force and manipulated the very crust surrounding the mines to cause a brief but violent earthquake as he delivered his closing remark. "You have been warned."

Content the Crusaders had been reinforced with the knowledge the Gods were with them, Cameron deactivated the internal announcement system. The slicer pointed to a screen that indicated Stewardess Visl and a handful of others. "Develop a route and dispatch it to Deimos [member="Siara Vorru"]." The man complied quickly. "Keep looking for the Bishop."

[member="Crystal"] | [member="Sephoria Lasranae"]

Crystal, followed by Azlyn, accompanied [member="Siara Vorru"] and her second squad in after the first squad drew the majority of the fire from the pirates. Her magenta blade hummed and blurred as it moved to deflect the incoming shots. Now she wasn't taking out as many as she might have liked, but they were just starting. There was plenty of time to slaughter pirates once they had feet to stand on.

The pirates were retreating which wasn't good, as they would have an entirely new advantage, and probably greater numbers. They simply delayed the inevitable.

[member="Cameron Centurion"] 's voice came over the speakers and an earthquake followed. Crystal smiled. And now the fun would begin....

Examining her HUD a route was highlighted for her through the tunnels to where Loxa and her escort had last been heard from the instructions were clear even if they weren’t verbalized, find them and provide assistance if necessary. Grabbing a squad of men the Kiffar woman kept her arm close to her body as she checked the map closely the main pirate force was retreating down the main passageway into the mines their route would split them away from the progress of the company but that suited Siara just fine.

Signalling the squad of Crusaders forward Siara glanced back at [member="Crystal"] before proceeding forward, the Sith woman could decide if she wanted to join the main thrust into the heart of the pirate base or if she would prefer to come along to see what kind of fun along the route she had been given. She followed the squad down the tunnel slowly, keep an eye open for traps or ambushes. If this was here base she would certainly line every tunnel with traps in hopes of discouraging any enemy from pursing too quickly.

The tunnel was remarkably clear though, even the main part of the company that was pushing deeper into the enemy compound had faced remarkably light resistance. Siara pressed up against a wall peeking around a corner into the chamber where [member="Loxa Visl"] and [member="Sephoria Lasranae"] lay low obviously recovering from some sort of assault, nearby lay smoking body of one of the pirates. Around them standing triumphantly over their people was a dozen or so other pirates. The mercenary signalled half the squad to cut back to the last intersection and circle around the pirates to flank them. It probably wasn’t required because the pirates were quite proud of their victory and seemed to be unaware they were about to be attacked. What had happened wasn’t exactly clear, the only obvious signs were from the slaughter the Crusaders had recently inflicted on the pirates but how the pirates had managed to disable their comrades wouldn’t be revealed until they were freed.

Getting on her comm as the IFF indicators from the comm units of the other half of the squad successfully moved into position at the end of the tunnel on a forty five degree angle from her position Siara gave orders. “Move in, weapons on stun, our fellow Crusaders must not come to any harm.”

The squad closed in on both sides slowly entering the cavern Siara leading her half squad into the cavern as they all fanned out. The squad opened fire on the pirates on her signal, the pirates swung around to retaliate both groups traded fire briefly but the Crusaders had the upper hand. The pirates didn’t have any cover and they had been surprised they folded like a deck of cards.

“Secure the area while the medic does an evaluation on our people.” Siara ordered as she scanned the room signalling members of the squad onto every obvious avenue of approach. The Kiffar mercenary holstered her weapon and took a knee beside Loxa examining her curiously as the medic approached to assist.

Sephoria Lasranae

The Devourer's Reaper
The Reaper would have been a goner had it not been for the timely intervention of Loxa's force lightning just as the machine's control had ceased. The pirate who kicked her over and was about to execute her had still gotten a shot off, but it was just to the side of her head instead of right into it.

With adrenalin now forcing what was left of the fog out of her mind, the Garhoon jumped to her feet at the same time that her Sith Sabre telekineticly zoomed back into her hand. Stun shots from Siara's fireteam started to fly through the air as Seph reached the nearest pirate. A slash to the arm disarmed him right before the the woman pivoted around and sent her blade gliding through his side while already moving to the next target. The next man to catch her eye found her sword thrown into his sternum before he could get a shot off. Siara's Crusaders made quick work of almost all of the other pirates.

Unfortunately Sephora was able to get to one last merc before the battle was concluded. He got the worst fate of his comrades as the Garhoon's palm slammed into the side of his rifle. With his weapon he found a second palm thrust up into his face, and then a followup elbow into the side of his head. She finally ripped her rebreather mask off before pulling his head forcefully to the side and sinking her fangs into his neck.

There were popular holo-movies out that depicted Garhoons, Energy Vampires, Anzatis and other predator humanoids as handsome, dark, brooding people who attracted their prey with romance and intrigue. They seemed to almost sparkle in the early morning light as younger generations idolized them. Of course the truth of the matter was that it was like any predator and prey relationship. The pirate found himself uncompassionately brutalized, overpowered, and literally eaten alive despite screaming, kicking, and trying to get away. He fell to the ground weakened and near death a few moments later as if discarded like trash.

The Reaper inefficiently wiped blood from her lips with the armor plating on her arm as she turned back to see Siara's squad helping their fellow crusaders up. Her rage subsided just as the coughing set in and she had to scramble to get her mask back on. That impulsive action would have been embarrassing had it not been for the fresh fuel, adrenalin, and euphoria that was flooding through her.

"REAPERS! Get that fething machine found and destroyed or i'll send you to Erebos myself," Sephoria shouted back towards the recovering shadow soldiers. The embarrassment of having been incapacitated so easily put a spring into their step as they jumped to follow the last order.

[member="Loxa Visl"] [member="Siara Vorru"]

Crystal nodded to Siara to indicate that she had her back. She was interested in finding the pirate's hidey hole so that she could clear them out. They were slow moving, but that was a given, considering they were in an unfamiliar environment with clearly hostile pirates trying to thwart their progress. She narrowed her eyes though, since the tunnel seemed to be too clear. That would more than likely mean an ambush. But, her danger sense wasn't tingling at the moment, so her life wasn't in any immediate danger.

They were closing in on [member="Loxa Visl"] and [member="Sephoria Lasranae"] who seemed to be in some sort of distress. That would explain the lack of resistance on their way to the two. They were late to the party. The squad was moving to surround them and cut them down in one swoop. A little less fun for Crystal, but there were still plenty to cut down she could feel it.

She watched Sephoria have a snack while [member="Siara Vorru"] looked to Loxa. When the dust had settled, she inquired "So, which way to the machine?"

Blackthorne

She of the Trillion Thorns
"Asanté, santé," Loxa gently waved to the arriving medics, still catching her breath. It had been a very long time since the Priestess had been possessed of such a mental assault. She lifted a shaking hand to her left temple, quietly assuring the Medics that she was otherwise unharmed. There was nothing they could do for her, the only efforts that would save her from another mental assault were her own. She'd been, perhaps, careless in this, but now she would be more guarded, more prepared.

Loxa did accept a helping hand to her feet and nodded gratefully to [member="Siara Vorru"] before turning her attention to fellow Crusader [member="Crystal"], "Deep within the mines, I believe. We must destroy this thing - our enemies have an unkind advantage over us while it still functions. It does not affect them."

With a deep, steadying breath she straightened her robes and nodded to the gathered troops, "My team will continue the search for Bishop [member="Zoey Marix"]. Has anyone made contact with her or received further signal?"

"Priest Centurion. I think I have located her. Security logs indicate having moved an offworlder with strange powers to a secure section of the facility, it's in the deepest recesses of the mines."

Cameron turned his attention to the slicing tech with reserved interest. "Show me." Patiently, he waited for the man to bring up the security cameras in the area. Unfortunately, no cameras tied into the main network existed anywhere beyond the large, unmarked steel door that lead into the area. There weren't even official diagrams of the area the individual was being held in. However, they did discover that there was a secondary security control center in that particular mine whereas no others had much other than general equipment and break rooms. A poorly designed system, but they weren't exactly going up against hardened jailers and soldiers. "Trace a route from Deimos [member="Siara Vorru"]'s location to this new objective. Send it immediately."

The Sith Lord did not hear the man's response as he communicated telepathically with [member="Loxa Visl"] and [member="Crystal"]. We may have located Bishop [member="Zoey Marix"]. Routing information has been dispatched to Deimos Vorru. It will only get you to the restricted area, no cameras in the main control facility can access that sector, so I've no idea what you're walking into. Enjoy.

Cave Opening
Control Facility

I needed to get out. I needed to be found. And well to do that, I needed a stronger signal to get them. However, the best place to do it was almost dead center of the people who attacked us. Now, I needed to connect the data that was within the Facility, to the Crusade to give them where they could see. I knew I was close by the Com shutting itself off. I checked the power pack, and it was about half charge. So it should have not been dead unless they were using some kind of transmission that killed almost all contact inside and out.

Continuing to slide my beskad before me, and moving on on my stomach, it pained me so. How about you try to slide on your stomach in cold water for a while. Only, when I thought that the tunnel would continue on once more, It came to an opening. I looked around as though it was a God's blessing. I silently thanked whoever was watching over me, and moved on outward.

Opening to be on the side of a cliff. I thought I was insane, when I looked down, but after doing so, it was only a good hundred foot drop into a flat valley where a series of buildings were housed. It was almost smack in the center. When I realized, "It's inside the mountain." Pressing my hand to my forehead, I tried to get rid of the vertigo feeling and figure out someway to get down there without killing myself. "If this would be a good time for a blessing, I could really use one right now."

Piraiba

Togorian Barricade
Then the heavens opened up to bestow a blessing upon Zoey Marix. That blessing came in the form of the overpowering screeching sound of the mind control machine firing off into everyone's minds. The range of the weapon didn't extent all the way to the command center Cameron, Kassandra, and Crystal were at, but it did reach out around the mines. Loxa and Sephoria's teams took the brunt of the attack, though even dropships flying near the mines were also affected.

Moments later one such Morossian dropship came crashing down to the mountainside not far from Zoey. There wasn't any great surface for the wreckage to rest on at first. Instead it tumbled down about fifty feet before finally finding an outcropping of rock to stop it. The result was an eerily quiet crash site beyond the subtle sounds of the flicking flames. A couple minutes passed before a deep thundering pounding could be heard from within the wreckage.

The battered hatch door soon came off of it's railing from the push of an equally battered armored Togorian. The cat's breathing and heart rate were heightened from the harrowing experience as he pulled himself out of the wreckage to a somewhat secure rock face. Above all else Piraiba had been afraid of riding in ships. On the ground he had a chance for survival, but off of the ground his life was in the hands of pilots. Crashing like this had been the brutal realization of these fears.

The feline finally reached up and removed his cracked helm while trying to catch his breath. Then one of his hands started reaching down to paw for his radio. Piraiba had to report that he had crashed. Air missions had to be canceled near the mines while there was a weapon that could incapacitate pilots. This meant that there wouldn't be any kind of an air evacuation for him, but the Togorian could have swore he had sensed Zoey before he went down. She was nearby.

Azlyn had been quiet and careful less attacking and more as the albino moved sneaking around with her eyes watching everything. When she needed to attack she was quick but kept in mind her master and the others location. Using her senses and the force to recall the system as she navigated her body crouched lower to the ground to almost crab walk while she stalked and grabbed a pirate. The muffled sound before his neck snapped in her hands welcoming and she just imagined it was her competition Asylen.

Giving [member="Loxa Visl"] a hand up the mercenary woman looked at Crystal. “How should I know where it is? You have as much information as I do. Why don’t you use your fancy force tricks and find it, then I can take a team down there and blow it up before they try to use it on me.”

Looking at Loxa as new routing information came through to her display Siara spoke up. “I just received new information from the slicers, it has identified a location that is likely to be where Bishop [member="Zoey Marix"] is being held at the moment.” Glancing at the Reapers and [member="Sephoria Lasranae"]. “Your escort seems eager to destroy machine anyway, how about my team takes over as your escort since we have the coordinates and [member="Crystal"] can go with your friends here, if she is as powerful as she claims no doubt she can divine the location of that blasted thing.”

Not waiting for a response as her instructions were already pretty clear Siara signaled the squad to form up to continue down into the mine along the route plotted out in her HUD. She distributed the routing information to every member of the team as the medic came back to try and fuss over her shoulder. With a rough shove the Kiffar woman indicated she had no interest in having the full extent of her wounds addressed until after they were out of this mess. The squad formed up again ready to move out weapons at the ready as they headed down along the plotted route following the Deimos just as cautiously as they had up until now.
