STRENGTHS
  • Heavy Punch - The Corvus-class has a serious offensive weaponry, both to destroy and disable enemy ships or ground forces.
  • In and Out - Thanks to its high speed, the Commando Destroyer can quickly get into its area of operation, deploy its troops, fulfill the mission and get out again, even through interdiction fields, before the enemy can send reinforcements.
  • Shady Approach - Due to the stealth coating, the ship can bypass a good amount of sensor, scanners and visuals before it is detected. It is not cloaking device though!
  • Gotcha! - Owned to powerful tractor beams, ion weaponry and an interdiction field, the ship is also quite apt at catching other ships.
WEAKNESSES
  • Brittle - While having a decent defensive suit, the ship is by no means meant for prolonged combat with other capital ships and will quickly suffer heavy damage.
  • Slow on the Turn - The Corvus is meant for straight, well planned actions and to overcome VIP vehicles in quick order, but not to dogfight and has a low turn rate.
  • Coated, not inbuilt - The stealth properties the ship has are a coating on the armor, not any inbuilt generator. Therefore as soon as the armor is damaged, the stealth properties are.
DESCRIPTION
The Corvus-class Commando Destroyer is a new addition to the Imperial Navy and COMPNOR for the use in special operations and the secure transport of high value targets.

Designed to punch a hole in enemy defenses, be it ships or planetary, deliver commandos or Special Operations units to the target, secure or destroy it and return before the enemy has time to react. The ships stealth capabilities plus its high speed are perfectly suited for these kind of operations, intended by design of course. With a staggeringly strong armament suit, the Corvus is more than capable to destroy local security forces or even capital ships which come in its way, but should not linger for prolonged combat. Additionally the ship is equipped with a wide array of disabling and neutralising weaponry to catch and disable targeted ships before boarding them.

In addition to its use by Special Operations units, the Commando Destroyer also acts as a prison and delivery ship for extremely high value or dangerous goods and individuals. Its detention block has been strongly reinforced to hold strong Force users and normal prisoners alike. It is rumored that COMPNOR and the Imperial Knights use this ship to find and conscript Force sensitives born in the realm of the Empire as well as getting rid of dissidents. The rumors of an 'Obsidian Hunter' appearing might even suppress a rebellion before it even starts.

The class received the nickname 'Obsidian Hunter' by an operator of the Death Troopers, due to it remaining 'dark' all the time, both visually and to scanners.
