Public Company over Lava

Scald knelt down on the black, lava rock ground. She sniffed the air, thought it was filtered through her Mandalorian helmet, she could still smell the burning. On the rock and lava world of Sullust, everything was like this.

Golden lava exploded into crimson every few seconds, creating hazards for all who weren’t protected. She was. Her beskar stopped all stray splatters from creating burnt tissue and instead- added more effect to her scarlet armor.

Reaching into the bag that was slung over her shoulder, Scald brought out a beaker that had been specially designed to hold lava. She used a pair of tongs to lower it into the screaming hot flow.

After leaving it for the correct amount of time, Scald brought it up. The metal of the tongs was a hot, and blinding white, showcasing the extreme heat that it was previously in. The beaker was now filled to the brim with magma.

“Perfect.”

The words were spoken softly, as if to the lava itself. The entire plains around her were empty. They had been for a long while. The space where she knelt was an ancient burial ground- and said shrine to the Sith. Not being any degree of Force-sensitive, Scald didn’t care. She went along with her business.

She stood up- not daring to readjust her grip on the glowing metal. She needed to get the lava back to her ship. Believe it or not, she had traveled all across the galaxy for this lava. Beneath her helmet she smiled at it. Mind you this wasn’t a normal smile, it was one that said harm would befall some one very soon.

Scald trudged the few miles back to her ship without a second thought. This lava was far too precious to risk on a speeder.

Soon arriving, Scald poured the lava into a container and sat back in a chair.

That was a close one- aye H6.”

The Shard turned its metal head to her,”Is this it?”

Scald nodded- not caring about the dismissal.

The lava that could make me rich, if this works.”

H6 held up a data pad,”Creating a new type of bio-cocoon is ambitious. How do you plan on achieving this?”

This lava has a certain rare mineral in it. If I extract it- I can use it to multiply and divide any material.”

Why haven't others done this then?” H6 asked, having a valid point.

“Because they do not know the properties of this lav-“

Scald broke off. A ship. She had just heard a ship.

H6 turned her head towards Scald,”We have company.”

Talon quietly walked out of his ship looking at the red hot lava filled biome. He was employed to gather some of this liquid, while he didn't know why the pay was good enough not to need to question it. Quietly looking at the liquid he turned watching a droid unloading the equipment needed to gather the lava.

During this he wished to scout out the area, the fumes were messing with the ship's scanners causing it to have an overwhelming amount of signatures that weren't there. Walking through the landscape the Mando made sure not to step in the lava for he expected it to take his foot with a misstep. Suspecting there to be no one he looked for a large hill to be sure.

Once he found his hill he went up the side looking around at the landscape, he thought he saw something but thought it was just heat displacing light. Shrugging he started to walk back to his ship, satisfied by the search. He expected the robot to be done setting up when he got back. On his way back he pondered if what he saw was there and decided to look again seeing nothing.

Shrugging he muttered, "God I'm paranoid." He started his journey back. Hearing a ship he looked but he couldn't find one.

Scald Scald

"It's a fellow Mandalorian," Scald said, peering through her handy Sniper.

H6-098 made a small, mechanic scowling noise, "What are they doing here?"

"It looks..." Scald said, adjusting her scope," Like the same reason I'm here. Lava gathering."

The Shard slammed its fist on the black ground, causing some of it to crumble. She then straightened up and grabbed a sniper of her own.

"You said no one knew!" H6-098 accused.

Scald sighed and lowed her sniper. Her ship should have hidden well enough but this was still an issue. Scald didn't think the Mandalorian knew what properties this lava held. And the dangers. Bio-cocoons are a square plastic sheet covered in Kivilol Spores. Once the unlucky person steps on it- the spores are kicked out of dormancy. They multiply 2, 4, 8, 16 and in milliseconds they multiply enough to crawl up the victim's leg, eating as they go. The poor victim will be dead in under a minute.

This lava, in the wrong hands, could make the owner the winner of a war. That couldn't be allowed to happen.

"Well, that just changed," Scald said with a sigh, "But our mission was just altered. We need to stop them from taking it."

H6-098 sighed as well,"What's the plan?"

"Make ourselves seem bigger than we are. Plan 34b."

H6 nodded and turned away- walking towards the same hill the Mandalorian had been on top off. Scald sighed and went back in her ship- she grabbed a few grenades and other weapons. Scald was a scientist, specializing in Bioweapons, but that didn't mean she was helpless. She could rock a good killer weapon when she needed. She came out of her ship and went back to her sniper for a second.

"One more check,"

Talon stepped down a small hill next to his ship walking up to it and watching how far the droid was. Seeing that it was done he ordered it to start the process, and as the droid listened Talon walked into the ship. In there he pulled an A280 off the shelf and slung it on his back, while in there he also resupplied grabbing ammo and some food for his walk outside.

Standing outside he still scanned the horizon for anyone, he also was curious to the ship he heard earlier, but shrugged it off not really caring. With that he turned to his droid which was halfway done with the process, it pulling lava into a tube which was being transported into barrels inside of the ship.

The more he thought the more curious he grew on why someone would want lava, it had no properties that were really unique from this lava, but he yet again shrugged it off and went back to his patrol, walking back up a large hill to get an overview. Once up there he continued his search seeing another tiny dot, staring at it he saw nothing yet again.

With him hitting his helmet he continued his trek through the wasteland avoiding the lava as he went.

Scald Scald

"Yep, move your behind away from your ship." Scald muttered to herself, staring through her scope. After a few minutes, the other Mandalorian had moved on to continue its scout.

Scald lowered her sniper- time to get moving. NO ONE must be allowed to acquire this lava, besides herself of course. She turned on her comlink.

"H6, think you can keep him busy?" Scald said, starting to move towards his ship.

There was a moment of static, then,
"Of Course!!! It is one of my primary-"

"I know your function H6- Just get on with it."

There was a muffled agreement and the channel cut. Scald smiled as she made her way to it. There were tubes transporting the lava onto the ship- easy targets. Scald took out a tube from her pocket- heavy grade acid would do it.

Oh isn't being a scientist FUN!!

Talon walked down another hill in the endless expanse of this lava filled hell. Every time he thought he was on a tall hill there'd be a taller one, so with this in mind the Mando shook his head and started walking back to his ship, having a good distance between them. With an open commlink and a want to quietly get off this planet he quietly muttered how much he hated his job.

During the walk back he was surprised to find any life at all on this biome. Watching an animal hop across the ground he watched it lose its footing and step into the lava where it pulled out but was consumed by something else. Confused Talon walked over to where the creature was now a few pieces of hair remaining, picking them up he tossed it back down and continued his walk a bit more hurried to his ship.

The thoughts of what those could possibly be were racing through his mid, and he wanted answers so he'd have a talk with his employer when he got back, but the journey was long and the expanse was longer, as he quietly walked back at his brisk pace.

Talon stood there listening to the comlink confused, he assumed the fumes are just messing with the comms, deciding to turn them off he continued his walk back, a bit slower while recalibrating what he could on his headset.

Scald Scald

H6 pulled the trigger and the sniper fired. Her goal wasn't to kill the Mando- only distract, so she made sure the shot would only hit the beskar.

She fired several shots at once- then watched for a reaction.

Listening to the shot he turned in the direction he presumed they were from, lifting up his A280 he started opening fire, stopping to wait for the glint of a scope, but with he dove behind the hill to stay in cover.

H6 watched his try and return fire then dive behind a large rock for cover.

"S'working." She said into her comlink, not giving anything away. From there, she kept firing, hoping that Scald would have enough time.

...

Scald got the ok signal from H6- she knew she could continue. Entering the Mandalorian's ship- the first sight she saw was the droid in charge of handling the lava. She raised her blaster and the droid fell.

This is too easy.

While in the cover Talon thought how he wasn't going to be able to peak, and seeing as his ship was a hill away, he started the dash sliding down the hill and jumping the little creak of lava at the bottom, running behind the hill for cover, pulling out his recalibrated comlink he called for his droid to start the ship but all he was met with was static. So he sat there, an open field between him and the ship's entrance. At what point on this journey would he get shot, he wondered.

Scald could hear the steady flow of shots that were coming from H6, hopefully they would do the trick for now.

She moved quickly over to the container holding the lava. Though this needed to be done- she did feel sorry for the Mandalorian who was going to have his ship filled with Lava.

Ah well.

Scald opened the lid of the acid container- and poured it over the end of the pipes so no more lava could come in. There was a hissing as the metal burned away- the green liquid disappearing slowly. Then she moved onto the large container and pulled out more acid. This could take a few minutes- but she had to take that chance.

Talon just shrugged and started a walk, not fast, not slow. If he was shot his beskar would save him but he was going to figure out what was going on. Walking towards the ship he pulled out his RSKF (pistol) and pulled it up to waist level.

Walking toward his ship he went to the back where it would be require repositioning to shoot him, he closed the back of the ship, and turned to his wrist. Doing this would leave him exposed but get the job done.

On his wrist he starts up the engines getting the ship ready for take off, turning to see the downed droid he realized there was someone in there.

Scald Scald

Scald cursed as the ship started up. The acid was about halfway done in its process. The lava that was on the floor had been dealt with- Scald had poured another type of acid onto it that would kill the mineral. She brought out her comlink.

"H6?"

"The behind."

Ah kriff- that meant the Mando was just beyond the end of the ship. Scald didn't WANT to kill another Mandolorian, that would go against some serious rules and honor codes. So she couldn't use half of the bioweapons on her. Cursing again, she set down tazer traps on the floor. It wouldn't hold the Mando off forever- just a few minutes. That was all she needed.

Talon just muttered "Shit." He turned to his wrist and shut off the engine, keeping it from launching, waiting a second he opened the back he walked in quietly his pistol raised. He assumed there would be a mess with the lava, someone trying to keep him away, but might as well deal with the situation.

Looking around his HUD alerted him to a trap which he promptly shot, before advancing forward, whoever this was, was going to be in a bad situation if he gets tired and freezes the ship. It never tended to come to that but he didn't care this time, he was annoyed and ready to blow someones head off.

Continuing his walk he knew he was getting near with his HUD giving him warnings.

Scald could hear the blaster fire as the Mando destroyed the traps, she cursed in about 20 languages and stormed to the cockpit. The acid could do unsupervised- but she was either gonna get killed in this situation, or kill. Stopping this ship was a better option.

She reached the cockpit and raised her blaster- she shot the control panel. It sent of sparks and the lights flickered.

"They said science was boring," Scald muttered to herself. She raised her pistol.

I think it's time I meet this Mando.

His HUD pointed Talon straight at the acid, which with one use of his wrist he closed off that valve, it would be replaced shortly and he could continue his job, but there was lava everywhere, meaning he had to deal with it when he was done dealing with this intruder. Continuing the path to the bridge he had his pistol raised and was at the door.

Reaching for the controls he stopped, these were vacuum tight, and had vents ready to close at the mere presence of gas, but this was not with all gasses. Tossing a smoke grenade into the vent he just blew them up creating a smokescreen throughout the front of the ship. Opening the door he attempted to shoot the pistol out of her hand using his HUD. Rather then killing the intruder he'd rather have answers.

After the shot was fired back Talon ran inside the cockpit attempting to tackle her to the cockpits dash. His pistol was in his holster as he attempted it.
