The Nihilus Decree sanctioned by the Palatine Council of Vandemar officially is a collection, categorization and archiving of Force related materials and objects throughout the Galaxy. While pursuing the task themselves, Vandemar has also put out a bounty for the delivery of materials. So far there have been no reported incidents of any hostile encounters or destructive intents. But rumours spread and with the arrival of the Hegemon himself on the world of H'ratth where once a Jedi Academy stood, they seem to tighten around the idea that this collection is intended more as a sequestration and deconsecration of Force related sites, knowledge and perhaps even individuals.

Noble protectors, curious volunteers and ambitious individuals will find themselves on opposing sides in this first action of a war to end all wars.

Regrettably the Palatine Council had issued a limitation to space travel due to the shortage of Tibanna Gas, therefore Aurelian was bound to commit a lot less manpower to this undertaking than he would have wished for. But the brewing escalation between Caragachi and the Farworlds Alliance meant that the home defence was of higher imperative than the beginning of this campaign.

The Jedi Academy of H'ratth had been renowned for its healing focused teachings and housed several famous individuals of the Jedi kind. Its hidden nature had been a great asset in the undoing of their arrogance though, as the actions following operation Knightfall had shown. Complacency and enlightenment do not go well hand in hand, but by the time the order of the old republic had realised its insufficient awareness and vulnerability, it had been too late. For all his Sith-bound shortcomings, Aurelian could not deny the success of the first Galactic Emperor, Sidious had been very successful in luring the Jedi into their downfall.

Now he stood among rabble and ruins of an old relic, predating most villains the Galaxy offered currently. A statue of gold towering between broken pillars, crushed roofs and shattered doorways, a testimony of durability against the common short lived vanity that was so widespread among the Jedi and Sith. Aurelian was permanence, he was continuity and he was anathema to religious zeal and blind dogma.

Two Skytroopers picked up a corpse to carry it into the big grave they have dug a bit further from the old Academy site. Aurelian paid it no second thought. They were raiders, looters which had attacked a local archeology mission and wiped them out. A rumour had surfaced that a forgotten chamber was found with some Jedi treasure inside of it and that had lured the scavengers in, carrion-feeders which had made short work of the academics and in turn now got annihilated by the Hegemon's force. A handful of Knights, a dozen Skytroopers and some assistance of protocol droids and they had picked up the work where the archeologists had left it, at a sealed portal, excavated beneath several old chambers.

Aurelian's gut was telling him that the pirate scum had been the lesser of their opposition. Rumours of Jedi knowledge spread far and wide quite swiftly. More were to come.

Jedi Shadow and Temple Guard were two very different paths a Sentinel might walk, but Braze had spent his time walking the line between them. His duties as a Temple Guard had gradually turned toward restoration and reclamation: recovering what he could, protecting what remained, and preserving it within the Shadow Conservatory.

He had hoped to make some headway with Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor , and maybe even build toward something greater together. The Shadow Conservatory could become something worthy of standing beside the Great Library of Ossus if they could gather enough knowledge and preserve his culture's past.

So when word reached him that certain parties had taken it upon themselves to meddle with the relics of his culture, it garnered the young prodigy's attention rather quickly.

Apparently, this particular visit had just moved to the top of his list.

Braze had already been present when Aurelian Sigismund Aurelian Sigismund and his men arrived, but he had bided his time, carefully observing those who had taken an interest in the place.

After his last encounter with the Dark Jedi on Ossus, he had learned that discretion often served him better than bravado. He had therefore cloaked himself and settled into hiding, watching… listening… learning what he could before deciding how best to interfere.

It might have been easier to sabotage the would-be enemy outright, perhaps in the same catastrophic fashion he had employed against the Dark Jedi.
Slipping past them unnoticed seemed the cleaner option… provided he could manage it.

Usually, the Dealmaker wouldn't be around in events where the outcome wasn't already predetmined to be in their favor. Alas, this particular happening, was an exception to the rule. Without any warning, with the amount of presence in the force he usually had locked and hidden away behind the facade of this strange and unusually twisted persona of the Dealmaker, the Lord of Hunger found himself standing right in front of the massive golden statue, his gloved hands knocking upon the metal, as if to be overjoyed by the metallic ringing sound which as such would properly announce his presence right in the midst of those busy enough to clean up the mess they themselves had created.

"Sturdy and shiny... not my taste, but it certainly can't be missed by anyone," A chuckle escaped through the creepy smile of the mask, as the Dealmaker bowed towards Aurelian Sigismund Aurelian Sigismund with perhaps a bit too much clownesque fervor. There was a high chance, that even without his own presence in the force being revealed, the Imperator deep down knew exactly what horror stood in their midst. "Still...I am curious, oh oh oh OH so curious as to whatcha be planning."

Practically pirouetting and twirling around like an accursed dervish dancer, the Dealmaker found himself standing behind the mighty Imperator, with no clear intentions, not a single sign that he'd utilize violent means, but also no sign to the opposite, the clownesue, masked figure let out a chuckle once more. "So... how about I am allowed to have a bit of fun and in return, you can go on with your merry business."

Tilting his head backwards, the crazed being seemed to be sniffing the air, as his voice dipped an octave lower, showing a seriousness behind the mask that indicated a certain validity to their words. "I care little for your actions...but you are attracting the attention of an interesting crowd..."

The first thing that I noticed was the silence. Not the natural silence of an abandoned place. I had spent enough years among forgotten temples and ruins to know the difference. This was the silence that followed violence. The sort that lingered in the Force long after the voices that created it had disappeared. I remained beyond the immediate ruins, partially concealed among the weathered stone and overgrown vegetation, and watched.

The old Jedi Academy of H'ratth stood before me in various states of collapse. Its broken towers and fractured corridors were familiar in the way ancient places often were. Even when I had never walked their halls, there was something recognizable about them. The architecture. The deliberate placement of meditation chambers. The subtle presence that clung to places where generations of Jedi had studied, healed, argued, failed, and tried again. And now soldiers occupied them.

My attention moved slowly across the grounds. Skytroopers. Knights. Droids. Enough personnel to secure an archaeological site, perhaps. But not enough to make me comfortable with the bodies. My gaze settled upon the grave being filled beyond the ruins as two soldiers carried another corpse toward it. I could not identify the dead from this distance, nor did I yet know precisely what had happened here. Raiders, perhaps. The remnants of some unfortunate expedition. But there were always stories surrounding violence.

The Force was usually less interested in stories. It remembered what had actually happened. I closed my eyes for a moment. The impressions were faint beneath the disturbance of so many unfamiliar presences, but the Academy still carried echoes of what it had once been. Healing. Patience. Compassion. The quiet concentration of Jedi attempting to mend what others had broken. Those impressions had not vanished simply because someone had come here with weapons.

My eyes opened again. Then there was another thought. Lumiya Dara Lumiya Dara , my Padawan. I had not come to H'ratth merely because an old Jedi Academy had appeared on a map. I had come because there was a possibility that she had followed the same trail of knowledge that had brought others here. If she had found the Academy before me, she might still be somewhere within those ruins. That possibility was enough to keep me from simply walking away. But it was also enough to make me cautious.

I watched the assembled forces again. They were not behaving like simple looters. Their movements were too organized. Their purpose too deliberate. Whatever had happened before their arrival, these people had come with their own agenda. And somewhere among them was the man who appeared to command the operation. I studied him from a distance. I did not yet know his name. I did not need to. Names could come later. For now, I simply watched.

The sealed portal beneath the Academy drew my attention next. Even from here, I could sense that something about it had attracted considerable interest. Ancient places rarely remained sealed for no reason. Sometimes the reason was knowledge. Sometimes it was danger. Occasionally, unfortunately, it was both.

My fingers tightened slightly around the walking staff in my hand before relaxing again. There would be time to approach. There would be time to ask questions. And if Lumiya was here, there would be time to find her. For the moment, however, I remained among the ruins and allowed the Force to tell me what the eyes could not. The Academy had been disturbed. Something had been taken from it. Something else had yet to be opened. And I had the distinct feeling that the people standing among its ruins were not the last ones who would come looking.
