ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Slave Circuitry
  • Corellian VI "James"
  • Advanced Automation Droid Brains
  • Advanced Targeting Computers
Strengths:
  • Advanced Ship Management Droid Brain and Automation: A combination of slave circuitry and advanced droid brains allowed for a much smaller crew and more accurate weapons fire
  • Impressive Weapons Compliment: An impressive tool of force projection, the CDF Ascendant Justice had enough firepower to take on small fleets on its own
Weaknesses:
  • Slow and Lumbering: The ship was slow and difficult to maneuver due to its size
  • Engine Blind Spot: The engine was a prominent blind spot
  • Electronic Warfare: Ion weapons and computer viruses could cause the slave circuitry and on board droidbrains to go haywire.
Description: The Colony-class was at one point one of the largest vessels to serve in the Free Worlds Coalition and then the Galactic Alliance. Beaten and battered most of the vessels found their way home some time after the fall of the Alliance. Where some individuals saw extensive modification, most simply saw refits and repairs. With the ships scattered to the wind, only one made it back to Corellia before the New Republic freed the planet from its Sith occupation.

Originally the christened ANS Dawn of Freedom, the CDF Ascendant Justice was a heavily modified Colony-Class battlecruiser. Prior to its refits it saw combat at the Battle of Fondor and the first liberation of Corellia. During the Battle of Fondor all of the ship's Myrmidon-class frigates were lost in battle and so one of the first things that was done to the ship was a heavy modification of the vertical hangars that held the massive ships. The docking clamps were removed and the space was made into a traditional hangar, offering the ship more room for actual ships, starfighters, and other vehicles than its sister ships. With a loss of its ability to bring a small fleet with it into battle heavy weapons were added to the ship, dramatically increasing its firepower and making it a true force of destruction. To accommodate these changes, its frame was changed and took on a more aggressive form.

Much of the ship's internal layout remained the same with the small exception of the bridge which was moved below layers of armor and given its own dedicated shield generator. Bristling with weapons, a new coat of paint, and a new name, the CDF Ascendant Justice would go on to serve as the Corellian Confederation's flagship during their time as a member system of the New Republic. While officially part of the New Republic navy and beholden to their rules of engagement and fleet movements, the captainship was given to an admiral in the Corellian Defense Force, offering it a unique amount of flexibility and independence.

There was much debate in giving the increasingly expansionist Corellian Defense Force such a powerful instrument of war, but with the ship being of Corellian design and the New Republic desperately requiring a means of force projection on the region due to its proximity to disputed First Order territory, the ship was allowed to remain in the Corellian Sector. After the Corellian Confederation seceded from the New Republic and became formally known as the Corellian Confederation, the CDF Ascendant Justice became the flagship of the Corellian Home Fleet.

Hangar Allocations: Starfighters: 37 squadrons Support Craft: 2 squadrons
As a reminder, with the new hangar allocation system, there is a minimum of support craft squadrons that should be maintained per the template. This is in order to keep our older ships balanced with the new ships. From the template:

Support Craft: x squadrons (Minimum is "None" rating for ship its size)
For a 5000 meter long ship
5000 Meters: [None: 6 | Very Low: 15 | Low: 16 | Average: 25 | Moderate: 26 | High: 35 | Very High: 39 | Extreme: 48]
So we should be seeing at least 6 squadrons on the Ascendant Justice being dedicated support craft squadrons.

a suggestion for the template then, as it's very misleading.

None usually means none, or 0, so instead of putting "None" for the minimum actually put how many squadrons it is.

The values of "None, Very low, etc" should be reserved for the total hangar space. Not used as throughout.

Also why does none have a rating to begin with? I will go back and make those edits. And why do I have to have 72 support ships? That's so many!

[member="Yularen Nova"], would this wording be more clear?

Support Craft: x squadrons (Minimum squadrons listed should match the squadrons listed for the "None" rating for ship its size)
Or is there a different way you think it should be worded?

In a way, it's a holdover from the old system, where you would have "no" starfighter squadrons. That's still true in this case. You can pick "none" as an option, and still have squadrons, but they have to be support craft squadrons.

As mentioned earlier, the Out of Character reason is so that older ships aren't at an disadvantage with the new system, but rather are roughly the same in ability to project power. The upgrade to the starship hangar was meant to give people more flexibility, not more offensive power.

In character, large ships really do need a lot of support craft for day to day functions, whether it's ferrying people and supplies around to and from the ship, supporting ground operations with gunships, performing basic ship maintenance, boarding operations, etc.

Really, 72 support ships is quite tiny for a ship this size. If you look at the classic Imperial I-class star destroyer, it has at least 21 shuttles, 15 light transports, and unlisted numbers of landing barges, blastboats, and repair and recovery vehicles. This is a ship that's not even a third of the Ascendant Justice, and it already has at least half of the Justice's minimum support craft complement. This matches up somewhat historically with the first/second generation of Star Wars Chaos ship stats. Command ships (1700-2000 meters) had at least 40+ support craft. So if we multiply that by 2.5, we're easily expecting 100+ support craft for a ship this size.

Yes, that would be a lot more clear! A second question on that then, in the allocations is that number treated as seperate or would those squadrons come out of the total

[Ex.] This ship has 39 squadrons. Would the support craft rating of None bring down total FIGHTER capacity to 33?

Other than answerthing these questions though, this ship is ready to be moved back.

I'll edit that in accordingly.

It comes out of the total allocation. So in other words:

Starfighter squadrons + Support Craft squadrons = Total Hangar Allocation Squadrons.
So yes, if a ship has 39 squadrons, and the minimum support craft squadrons is 6, then it's 39 (Total squadrons) - 6 (support craft squadrons)= 33 starfighter squadrons.
