STRENGTHS
- Gone Medieval: The Cathedral is a veritable fortress in space, boasting fast-recharging shields and a nigh-impenetrable hull.
- Proton Torpedoes, Away!: The Cathedral is armed to the teeth with laser cannons, concussive missiles, and proton torpedoes.
- In Space No One Can Hear You: The communications suite is quite advanced, enabling you to encrypt, scramble, or otherwise disguise messages as well as send them out across vast distances.
- Immovable: While not incapable of movement, she's slow. Very, very slow. Maneuvering is even worse.
- Detectable: Aside from the communications system, there is nothing stealthy about this vessel. She isn't subtle on the eyes, either.
- Ionized: Sustaining a hit from ion-based weaponry will disable numerous systems, particularly communications.
Messala has recently taken up an interest in starships, primarily motivated by his disgust with the modern spacefaring landscape. Everything looks the same or is still basing designs on stuff manufactured eight centuries ago. Boooring. This project aims to make vessels that are more visually distinct than the usual fare, while not sacrificing functionality.
The Cathedral is modeled after, what else, a cathedral. Drawing upon the architecture of Chaldea, Messala has created a ship constructed of metal parts on the outside, but wood and stone on the inside. To further the imagery, some of the plexalloy viewports have been colored to resemble stained glass windows. It can, however, be customized by the buyer.
