Faction Casefile 02: High Treason | The Mandalorian Enclave

In the wake of the security breach from a secret Karjr facility that saw four dangerous criminals loosed on Enclave space, the peacekeeping Karjr have been searching for the mastermind behind the prison break and attack on Enclave sovereignty.

A Sith or Hutt-backed incursion was the likely culprit, but that theory held one fatal flaw; Enclave space was supposedly well-surveyed by ARTUS, the Mind Forge, a super-intelligent AI warmind that oversaw the Enclave’s defense network. No suspicious ships could be reported entering or egressing Enclave space, or Kamino orbit for that matter.

It was a dead end until Karjr Agent 031 noticed a series of oddities in the facility security protocols, slight adjustments months or weeks before that worked together to take the facility out of lockdown and facilitate a breach. To make matters worse, there was only one person who could’ve made such adjustments to the code.

Another Karjr.

Another Mandalorian.

It’s now a race against time to find the culprit, the potential traitor, and bring them to justice before they can pull off another dangerous attack.

Radon Kryze is a veteran Karjr, grizzled from decades of war under the Enclave and even before that. He was considered one of the guild’s elite, hence his assignment to oversee the administration of the Karjr high-security prison on Kamino. Yet he was mysteriously absent on the day of the security breach, and one of the few from the garrison to survive. His clearance also means that he was one of the few individuals in the Enclave who could’ve altered the security protocols.

The coincidences are too great to ignore. He was last sighted at the Shukur Kyr’bes tavern in Tor Valium’s Midtown Sector, a popular haunt for Karjr agents. Detain him and bring him in for questioning.

Red Mobius walked into the tavern of Tor Valum, marveling at the whole city so far.

Clan Mobius had volunteered to help bring in the Agent wanted for questioning. She herself was not to approach him unless necessary...he was much too experienced for her to fight up close unless she somehow got the drop on him, which wasn't likely.

Her orders were to pick a spot in the tavern with a good line of sight, where she could watch all the exits, see who came and went, and see if she could spot him. Other, more skilled warriors would be sent for this one to be arrested. She was just back up in case he didn't go quietly or tried to flee. Clan Mobius also had the advantage of being relatively obscure. Her clan kept quiet and worked and fought just as quiet, so that provided the advantage that they were not as visible, not as recognizable as other, more high profile warriors sent to arrest this man might have been.

For her part, she hoped it wasn't true, and that he would surrender without a fight. That there was a perfectly reasonable explanation that might emerge that would clear him of wrongdoing. Mandalorians could ill afford a traitor at any juncture, but especially now, considering their reach and influence had been savagely reduced. But Mandalorians don't deal in hope, and don't take unnecessary chances. If he was a threat he must be stopped, end of story.

She hadn't had any nightmares or visions the past few days, for which she was grateful. Maybe this would be relatively simple. Still. She came in armed, and had tranq darts ready.

She casually strode through the place, picking a good spot with her back to the wall so she couldn't get snuck up on and shivved. She had seen that chit happen to her uncle once and was now paranoid of having her back exposed in public.

She sat down, ordered a small glass of Netra Gal, took off her helmet, and pretended to take a sip before putting the helmet back on and playing solitaire with a Pazaak Deck...

Things were goin' from bad to worse.

Vren had rushed back to Kestri from Tatooine when news reached him of the security breach and escape. The Karjr's mind had raced with the possibilities of who could have caused it. There had been no whispers in the underground of Tatooine of anything regarding it. It definitely wasn't any of the criminal regulars that he knew about. Neither were they Hutt - that kind of news would have made the rounds in the underground.

That left Sith or one of their own.

Always the optimist, Vren didn't want to believe that it was one of their own. That was until Volo Dragr Volo Dragr had personally given him the overwhelming evidence. That ruled out direct Sith tampering. Not that it sat well with him.

Hunting one of his own.

Vren's brow was furrowed behind his helm as he stepped into the tavern. After briefly scanning the room, the Karjr saw who he was looking for. He motioned for the barkeep to bring him is usual as he made his way to the man that was allegedly behind the tampering with the codes. No use spooking him and making this harder than it needed to be.

Sitting down across the man that was once his brother, Vren plastered a smile on his face before he removed his helm.

"Ey, partner. mind if we have a drink, Radon?"

It felt. . . odd to be on the job on Kestri of all places. Kestri, a world that was as close to home as Siv would ever get to. Kestri was supposed to be the one safe harbor for Mandalorians like Siv in a galaxy full of danger. But the thought of a traitor, a Mandalorian who'd forsaken his kin, was enough to set the grizzled bounty hunter veteran on edge. This was about more than just some escaped convicts. An unraveling of the brotherhood that tied Mandalorians together threatened to not only destroy the Enclave but could spell doom for the Mandalorian people as a whole.

The streets of Tor Valum's midtown sector were crowded as usual. Still, the throng of Mandalorians was noticeably grimmer than the jubilant Solstice atmosphere that had infected the city for the last couple of months. The euphoria of celebration had worn off and in its place a grim sense of foreboding. News traveled quickly, and such a high-security breach cast doubt on the Enclave's ability to lead. It was up to Siv and his fellow Karjr to rectify that before any more damage was wrecked on the Enclave's already low morale.

"Don't draw attention to yourself," he growled aside to his partner, Vulcan Krayt Vulcan Krayt . Siv remembered when he'd been just a foundling, but Vulcan was now a full-fledged Mandalorian warrior. Siv had to remind himself often as much that Krayt was now his equal, so to speak. "Radon isn't dumb. He sees two Karjr, he won't act like anything is out of the ordinary, but he'll be un edge nevertheless." Of all places, in Tor Valum it was easier to be inconspicuous. Mandalorian armor wasn't a dead giveaway when everyone wore it, after all.

It only took a couple more minutes of walking before they reached their final destination: the Shulur Kyr'bes tavern. It was a location that Siv was very familiar with; nearly every Karjr stopped at the Kyr'bes when they were onworld. The tavern had over time become a local haunt, more of a Karjr base of operations than the actual headquarters itself. It also had the strongest ne'tra gal on the planet, which definitely played into the high correlation of Karjr patrons. The pair entered, discreetly as one could enter, and Siv removed his helmet as he did so. Leaving it on when he didn't need it to insulate himself from the outside chill, in a bar when everyone else was 'off-duty,' would've been an obvious sign to Radon that Siv was here for work business. Best to remain as nonchalant as possible.

He cast a quick glance around the bar. Packed tonight, apparently. In the corner, a trio of drunken Karjr sang a war chant off-key, more shouting than singing in truth. Most of the tables were occupied by three or four drinking companions, and there were only a few empty stools at the bar itself. In this crowd, Siv couldn't pick out Radon easily. Better for him to move away from the entrance to draw less attention to himself. "I'm going to get a drink," he said to Vulcan as he moved closer to the bar.

Being a new member of the Karjr he was eager to prove himself, as he downloaded all the movable information that his clearance allowed him to and he set about talking with underworld contact, to see if he uncover the traitor in their mist and a crim load Nemro the Hutt on Nal Hatta had seemed to a good lead so headed out in the Slave VI to Hutta to investigate this further

Orders were to find the guy, detain him, and see him brought him in for questioning. The mission was straightforward enough, but far from simple. This guy they were looking for was bound to be watchful for attention after pulling something like that, provided he actually did the crime. Thonn didn't know, and it wasn't his job to find out. That would be a matter for the interrogators to handle, not him.

Thankfully, there was no great need for subtlety walking the streets of his home city of Tor Valum. No one was gonna question him for carrying big guns and heavy armour. They were more likely to question him if he didn't. And as almost always, his MS-01 Rotary Cannon was fully loaded and strapped to his back, with his disruptor pistol attached to a holster on his hip. Thonn travelled the thoroughfares, but caught no sign of the guy they were searching for. He wasn't quite sure where to look, but he sure could use a drink. Searching the bar seemed a sound idea, if only to slake his thirst. With that thought, he turned towards the busiest bar nearby in search of both their target, and a good drink.

Thonn soon stepped inside, looking around to see who might be among the many patrons packed within.

He's been tasked to assist a fellow Vod in apprehending a traitor, Vulcan for his part, had eyed his superiors with disbelief, a traitor on Kestri? His mind boggled at the very idea. But knowing that the Galaxy was an unpredictable entity, he should take it as a learning curve.

He jutted his chin out in childish indignation at Siv's comment. Attract attention, him? That's not true ... well he did occasionally attract attention but not as much as he used to. Besides, he's fully Mando so he's not a fledgeling any more.

Going at this in sets of two made sense, one Mando is normal, two is kinda normal, but several would be suspicious and they need to complete the mission with as little hysterics as possible. This would be a hindrance in a Tavern as it would be a chain reaction that often ends in chair and bottle throwing, or a stray missile. Not to mention a very stressed Tavern Keeper that has to make new chairs recarpet the floor, re-blow the bottles and clean up rocket and dead Mando bits

They have to be subtle, so taking Siv's lead, Vulcan mingled and trained by not getting stepped on, he can't pick out Radon either for different reasons. Still, where is the challenge if he could, eh?
