Sparky warbled in her headset at the hodge-podge squadron’s approach to their target: Utapau. The Galan had no doubt Daxton Bane had some connection to this planet and its shipyard’s. But this mission wasn’t just about revenge for his torture.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Finger switched to the closed comm to her fellow rebels. “Captain of the Fox Squadron reporting in. We have confirmed reports of the Confederacy’s terrorist ways, including the destruction of a retreating Vagrant ship with women and children refugees. We hit their shipyards, hit ‘em fast and hit ‘em hard. We’re in and out, don’t play the hero, got it?”[/SIZE]

LUCREHULK-CLASS COMMAND CARRIER​

UTAPAU ORBIT​

In times past, when peace characterized the Galaxy and fear of utter decimation did not fill the hearts and minds of the average citizen, entrance into a world such as Utapau would have been an easy task. However, since the unfortunate demise of the Omega Protectorate-Republic border worlds at the hands of Velok, such fear came to reside in many. This, coupled with the events which had transpired on Roon, had resulted in a heightening of security of the likes Confederate space had not seen since the Outer Rim Sieges. The regular patrols had effectively tripled, there was quite literally a Star Destroyer or Carrier parked outside every world, and all civilian vessels required clearance before entering. Sure, this backed up traffic, but what the people wanted, the people got.

And that was security.

This day, the Grand Marshal of the Confederacy found himself on the bridge of the aforementioned Lucrehulk-class Command Carrier which was hailing each and every civilian vessel that approached the world. His reason for being there was purely political, for he wanted to personally show his support to the citizens of Utapau whilst they worked to reconstruct the damaged caused by a recent, civil conflict. As such, he was present when the X-83 simply attempted to enter the atmosphere without proper clearance. That was Red Flag #1 in the Grand Marshal's book. As such, when the communications' officer was about to hail the craft, the clone took over the call and, in true Genesis Rostu fashion, spoke with unparalleled aggression.

"Attention unauthorized craft, you are in restricted airspace and are transmitting unknown codes. Re-route to upper atmosphere, announce your intentions, or be destroyed."

With that said, the clone ended the transmission and turned his attention to his subordinates on the Bridge.

"You know the drill, scramble the fighters. I want this unauthorized vessel escorted to us, and if they try anything funny, blow them out of the sky."

Adjusting the controls in the X-83, Judah sighed and listened to the chatter over his headseat. His mind was a sea full of concerns. The first and most important was he hadn't been in a dogfight situation in a long,long time. Add in a new fighter, new droid, and new Squadron and it was quite possibly the recipe for disaster. Just what he needed -- more issues. Behind him, the astromech droid he had salvaged, rebuilt and coined 'Shaker' due to its unstable nature, hummed happily behind his head.

At least one of us is enjoying this.

"Fox Three reporting in and making no promises about playin' hero."

Banking the fighter, the orbital shipyards filled the viewport. Dash was surprised by the size of the installations, he had only heard news passed along from other salvagers and spacers about the territory.

"I repeat, unidentified craft. You are flying in unauthorized space. Turn back now, or you will be destroyed." said the clone. As the words escaped his lips, he signalled the officers on the deck of his vessel; who then began the process of scrambling the starfighters. It did not take long for the Lucrehulk-class Command Carrier then to do as it was directed: swarm. From the depths of its ring carrier surged forth three squadrons of starfighters, composed of Grunts and Jackals, who began an interception course after the unidentified vessels. Sure, the number of vessels was a touch high for such a small number of ships, but these were dire times. As they came within range of the squadron, a single message was blared over various channels, and targets began to be locked upon.

"This is your final warning. Turn back now, identify yourselves and your intentions, or you will be destroyed."

Aedan Miles was on his way to meet with the Grand Marshal about construction of his ships. He as always moved with his armada of 8 Dire-class patrol ships, an Impetus-class frigate, 5 Facade-class pocket carriers and his Raven-class light frigate. Behind him he hoped that the rest of the Corsairs were on their way. As he came out of hyperspace he caught the end of Genesis Rostus message and he grinned nodding his head to the fighter control person. "Launch all fighters I will be leading Dragoon Squadron personally I want the Examen-class to launch and focus on capturing their fighters I don't care what happens to the pilots. Dire-class I want you to move into the atmosphere and cut them off. Raven-class, Impetus-class, and Facade-class stay in space to cut off their point of retreat." He watched the command table as holograms started to move around on it showing each ship. He watched the 8 Dire-class patrol ships start to drop into the atmosphere as the other ships moved and arrayed themselves to cover the standard escape vector. He smirked as he saw the pods open on the facade-class as the fighters poured from them and took positions as a screen. Aedan turned and walked from the bridge and to the hangar. He smirks as he walks over to his Devastator-class fighter and vaults into it settling into the pilots couch as he starts it up. "Dragoon Squadron we are going to go in and take them all alive why because I am bored."

In a rickety transport, Delila and the other members were moving into place on the other side of the planet. Swamp Fox Squadron was well into their portion of the assignment - damaging CIS owned shipyards. Now it was up to her ground crew to gather Intel on CIS. Blueprints, schematics, holdings, weapons specs .... anything the team could get their hands on was the target. Anything to damage the Confederacy.

With the transport in atmo and shaking rather violently, Delila held onto a strap hanging from the ceiling, trying not to bump into her fellow soldiers as they descended.

"Lets hope we don't have to Helljump. My knees are too old to be doing that nonsense anymore.."

Hannibal was a mercenary. Why the hell was he working air traffic control? Right, that other guy had been sick or something. Whatever. They were still paying him. Sure as hell wasn't what he signed on for, but money was money. Besides, the Grand High Poobah up in the Lucrehulk was keeping most incoming spacers from wandering on planet uninvited. He probably wouldn't even have to call anyone. This was going to be a nice, quiet, relaxing gig. Very nice, very nice indeed. Hannibal needed some rest and relaxation while also simultaneously getting paid. He almost thought he'd gotten away with it too when he heard chatter on the Poobah's end.

Some brain dead freaks were ignoring the Grand Marshal's attempts to hail. Sketchy, but not his problem. If they were acting strange, Rutstew or whatever his name was would light them up. Just as the Fondorian was beginning to relax again, another blip showed up on his radar. This ship was coming from a completely different direction, bypassing the Lucrehulk and making a beeline for the atmosphere. No attempts to hail ground control (IE, Hannibal) or anything. That was rude, so Hannibal punched a few buttons and hailed them.

"Ey, Unidentified Craft. You're gonna need clearance to land. State ya business an' slow ya rate 'a descent now. Elsewise, you're gonna 'ave to be detained. Dig?"

The last thing Hannibal wanted to do was order some Confederate aircraft to intercept these folks. Such a thing would probably entail paperwork or whatever.

As the transmission directed to the transport vessel containing Delila was concluded, the subsequent message scrambled the fighters that were located on the ground. These were of native Utapaun design, and as such they numbered in the dozens when dispatched to meet the transport vessel. They were also joined alongside a detachment of droid gunships. Now, the question that may have been posed during peacetime would sounded something along the lines of: "Why such a large response for a single, transport vessel?" Well, according to the rumor which had swept across the Galaxy like wildfire, the sordid deed that had caused the destruction of two worlds...had occurred from a single, basic transport vessel. As such, the people of Utapau were not taking any chances; and not a single man, woman, or child native to the world would want a response less than that which the Rebel Alliance was receiving at this moment.

To say the least, the people of Utapau were paranoid...and who wouldn't be?

To make matters worse for the single, transport vessel, anti-air weapons had been activated and the coordinates of the descending vessel passed along throughout the planetary defense network. The defensive turrets that were in the area swiveled to face the direction of the descending vessel...yet abstained from firing. They would receive a small span of time to answer Hannibal before all hell broke loose. Just like on Geonosis, the Confederacy of Independent Systems was relentless in their assaults against that which they perceived as a threat to the wellbeing of their people. If the Rebel Alliance craft did not comply, they would be destroyed; plain and simple.

In the air, a similar situation was unfolding, for transmissions were being sent and received between the pilots dispatched to intercept the unauthorized squadron of ships that were approaching the planet's atmosphere. Upon close inspection by the intercepting team, they were...starfighters. A squadron of starfighters? Unauthorized starfighters? Heading towards the planet? Ignoring hails? This did not bode well for them. "Last chance, acknowledge or be destroyed." came the transmission from the Lucrehulk; with the same transmission being repeated on the ground. They could either leave now, or they would face the full might of the Confederacy.

For Dirks, this was a hardest thing to do just sitting back and letting Thessa run the show. The last time they'd flown together the tables had been turned. Even though he still out ranked Lil' Mano, Fox Squadron, the one they were flying in today, was her squadron. Hutchinson vowed to himself he'd follow her lead, but at the same time the Major would make sure they made it through to the best of his abilities. The Rendili wasn't afraid to be the hero, if he had to be.

"Fox Seven reporting in… Seems the welcoming committee is here to greet us with a smile," Hutch keyed over his TwinTail's comm unit as the Confederacy's fighters had been scrambled to intercept the Rebels.

 

[Arthos Vynea]

One of the wings of Grunt Starfighters was occupied by Arthos, Templar Aspirant. Whom in his attempt to get noticed had gotten himself assigned to a fighter on the Grand Marshal's ship, not at all the position he was hoping for. However, it appeared he may yet be in luck as his wing was being sent out to bring some rogue ship back to the Lucrehulk for questioning. At this point the ship could simply turn itself in, and walk away with a stern warning. Soon however that opportunity would be forever gone, and Arthos would get to see what this ship could do.

As second wing man Arthos wouldn't be making the capture personally, but some report would show he was there. As the wing of interceptors were already forming up behind the ship Sargon just kept his finger on the trigger, all he needed was an order. The interceptor wing's commander sent the comms back to @[member="Genesis Rostu"]. :elta wing to, Lucrehulk Command, we are forming up near the rogue vessel now. Requesting orders.:: Perhaps he wouldn't be noted after all.

Waiting...Waiting...

Sophia hated playing the waiting game but here she was sitting in her starship waiting for the orders to fire at will. The CIS was waiting for them to either surrender or else. The surrendering so wasn't going to happen even if they were surrounded by her and many others. Giving them an option to give in now was good though and the nice thing to do so for now at least she would have to wait. Soon the party would begin because she doubted this ship was here for nothing. They would soon would find out.

Lylin made up one of the numbers in the formation behind Thessa. Her scanner show each one of the member of the Rebels and their positions within Fox Squadron. She banked the ship in perfect sync as Thessa turned toward the target. She flicked the switch to prime weapons and checked the target lock. A chirpy astromech continued to run reports of the ship's operations as order, showing all systems go and prepared. For the moment Lylin had power running to the deflector shields.

"Chirpy, keep an eye on the energy core, I don't want any surprises". She added an order, this is the first time in this ship and Lylin noted a slight tremor in the hull when pushed. "Keep diagnostics running on the engines too". She added for good measure. She opened up communications to the Fox Squadron Learder Thessa.

"This is Lylin Osh, Fox - 4, reporting in. Wish that guy would shut up, can't he see we are busy?", she said with a smile which would have sounded through her voice. She of course was referring to the voice of authority continually hailing them.

 

[Darth Vulcanus]

Nocturno came out of hyperspace in the the Geonosian Dreadnaught-Battle Cruiser that he was accustomed to flying into battle recently. The ship was alone, as Nocturno doubted such a small border incursion would require firepower not found on his dreadnaught. With a tap of the holotransmitter, the bug like architecture of the bridge was let up with blue as a hologram of Genesis appeared before him. "Notifying you of my arrival, Grand Marshal" Nocturno stated as his ship began floating into attack position. Unlike the Grand Marshal, Nocturno was all to eager to begin the destruction of his enemies. He had also arrived just in time to hear that Rosu seemed to be getting very agitated and that the unknown ship wasn't responding. Very well then, perhaps a warning shot was in order.

"Captain" Nocturno said plainly to the nearby Geonosian officer "ready the mass-driver and fire a warning shot past the bow of the unknown ship and then power up all weapon on the port side and move us into position to commence a broadside attack" Nocturno ordered in a cold voice

"But sir, the Grand Marshal hasn't-

"Ask for forgiveness, rather than permission Captain Zuzac...it can be useful at times. Now, fire the warning shot." The captain clicked in slight disapproval, but carried out the order anyway.

The bow of the ship began to glow as the slightly hidden mass-diver powered up and then suddenly fired a molten round past the bow of the rebel's ship. The round passed just mer-meters from impacting the ship's shields. As the round disappeared into space, where it would eventually impact something, Nocturno sent his own hail "This is High Marshal of the Greater Droid Army, that was your first and only warning. Identify yourselves immediately, or I promise my next attack will not miss."

John Walsh Chuckled as he was aboard his still not finished vessel. It seemed he had not much to do but then again he was feeling more than a little risky. So he did what any bored admiral did. He commendeered a squadron of fighters. That was right, Admiral Jonathan Walsh was back where he first started. He was in a fighter. He reported to a vessal which he knew was his daughters and to the command carrier.

" This is Admiral Walsh, I have acquired a squadron of Naga Starfighters and have scrambled. Awaiting orders"
He wanted to know their reaction. It was a bit unprofessional but he wasn't about to let the fun end without him. He also hoped he didn't lose his new job over this recklass behavior, but then again he had been hoping for a chance to try out these new fighters.

[SIZE=10pt]Utapau – Approaching Shipyards[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]There were a few big, bad, ugly ships. Warning lights flared briefly in the cozy-cabin of her star-fighter as the scarlet lights from @[member="Nocturno "]flashed across the tinted-glass. “Sparky, open up a public channel so we can be heard.”[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]A short beeping burst confirmed the command done.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]“Oy, we’re here for the Festivus Day air show. Comms are a little wacky….losi--…cshhh….uck….csshh…it.” Index finger switched back to the squadron frequency, a roguish grin flashing briefly on aqua-lips. “Micro-jump on my mark. Mark.” Eagle-eye watched for the briefest of moments as each fighter disappeared. Their coordinates would put them right over the shipyards, bearing no other ships got in the way.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]It was a high-risk move, something only rebels would try. The Confederates weren’t stupid. The transmission would buy them a thin window to make the jump. And with their proximity to the yards, if the Fed’s big and ugly ships fired at the smaller and faster squadron, they would risk doing more damage to the shipping yards than the rebels ever would.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]And luckily, it really was Festivus Day. Most of the crew at the shipping yards would be stacking up their Corellian imported beer cans to air their grievances. The fewer innocents harmed the better. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Coming out of the micro-jump, she wrenched the controls hard to port, narrowly missing a civilian vessel. A slew of curses left her mouth as she caught an earful of Sparky’s chirps in her headset. “Watch out for the incoming fighters! Hutch…”[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]It felt so surreal to say his name over the headset. Fingers tightened over the controls. She couldn’t afford any distractions.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]“….and Fox 4, go for the North side of the shipyards. Dash and I’ll take the South.” Better to keep the boys separated. Plus, she didn’t know Lylin’s experience. She came highly recommended but it was still better to put her with one of the seasoned pilots.[/SIZE]

"Festivus Day does not exist in Confederate space. You have been warned, and now you shall be destroyed. All vessels, engage at will."

With a tone as solemn as the grave, the Grand Marshal gave the Order. His words rang true, for no such holiday was recognized within Confederate Space; he of all people would know. From the depths of the Lucrehulk burst forth the remainder of the vessel's starfighter compliment, totally in seventy two interceptors and fifty two starfighters on the field of battle. In response to their jump, the Interceptors who were previously deployed simply engaged their SLAM motors and were on the enemies' tail in the blink of an eye. It was one thing for bigger, heavier ships to contribute to the engagement; and thereby potentially damage the Shipyards...it was another thing entirely to have ace squadrons of some of the best pilots in Confederate space on the tail of a handful of enemies.

The sad simple truth was, they were outnumbered, outgunned, and over one-hundred starfighters were on their tale from the Grand Marshal's vessel alone. Furthermore, he send a message to the ground below, not taking any chances. "All anti-aircraft weapons, lock onto the aforementioned target and bring it down. It's IFFs are the same as these starfighters were are currently engaging." With this Order issued, the anti-aircraft weapons came alive and a phenomenal horde of heavy weapons fire was unleashed upon the transport. To make matters worse, the vessel was flying into a cloud of starfighters that were sent to intercept them; and the starfighters were immensely quicker than the transport. They were already too low to simply bow out into hyperspace, their coordinates were locked, and hell was literally unleashing upon them.

Nothing short of an act of God would see these vessels escape.

Aedan heard the order and he smirked as his fighter burst forth from his vessel streaming away from it at speeds a fighter with its armaments shouldn't be able to. Following behind him were 11 other Devastator-class fighters their shields to full and weapons armed. Aedan let out a dark laugh as he flashed towards where they were his eyes gleaming. When the disappeared for a moment he remained calm and looked at his radar smirking as they reappeared and he pulled himself around towards them pushing speed to full as he activated his com. "Raider-class full speed ahead how no mercy for we know none." Suddenly a large amount of raider-class interceptors sprang forth flying extremly fast and in formation directly to where the small squadron now rested. Following behind them were 3 squadrons of Examen-class starfighters who broke off to come in from 3 directions.

He'd been holding back inside the cockpit of his Blackbird, the stealth fighter had been acquired during some business in a black market of Nar Shadda, and now he'd put it to use. Was this plan an exceedingly smart idea? No. Was he doing it anyway? Yep. Punching the throttle of the Blackbird, Garth went low, zooming under the fighters above, as an assassin his job was to kill a target, and he had his.

"Fox Six 'checkin in, got the bastards." He radioed, yanking up and firing into the underside of one of the Corsair's fighter formations, cutting a swathe through the unprepared pilots. Instantly, he jerked back hard on the stick, forcing his fighter back down away from the fighter groups, hoping to hit and run once again.

Nocturno gave a deep and menacing laugh as the order to engage was given. Turning sharply to the Geonosian Captain, Nocturno barked his orders "Lock on all weapon on the portside, destroy anything that isn't flying a CIS IFF." The Geonosian Captain went to it right away, clicking orders to the crew on the bridge that quickly began to carry out what Nocturno expected. The ship and already lined itself up for a perfect broadside against the intruders, bringing 50 Heavy Turbo lasers and 20 point-defense lasers to bare on the rebel scum.

Immediately, fire began to hail across the darkness of space as Nocturno's ship fired an endless spray of blues and greens into the direction of the intruding ships. Nocturno was not planning on any of these intruders to escape, unless one decided to fork over their whole plan and give him a list of names to hunt down, he might find mercy in his heart for that single person alone. That was an unlikely scenario though, so he would settle for watching the ships be vaporized into galactic dust.

"Hey, uh, unidentified ship." Hannibal fiddled with the microphone, making sure it was active. "Please land now or the Feds'll do more than scratch up ya paint job."

Why weren't these folks responding? Was this seriously going to be an attack? Just as Hannibal finished, there suddenly came a burst of radio chatter as shots were fired in space. On Festivus day, no less. What kind of sick freaks launched a terrorist attack on a holiday? This was supposed to be a nice time of year where folks sat down with their friends and families and dispensed gifts and... Wait, Festivus Day? That wasn't a thing. Not on Utapau, at any rate. Fething terrorists would stoop to any low, it seemed.

"Are you listenin' to me? Hello? Ah, forget it. Have fun killin' yourselves or whatever."

Hannibal wasn't being paid enough to dissuade people from suicide. Especially not when a dozen or so Confederate aircaft had already been scrambled on the planet to intercept this transport. Barring them taking care of it, whatever they were going for probably had Anti-Aircraft guns up the wazoo.
