Brewing Alcohol Out of Thin Air

To boldly alchemize what no one alchemized before
A child-sized serving on Life Day... she'd better have enough Force-energy left to use Detoxify Poison if push comes to shove with that drink. And mental fortitude. She realizes by now that a person's mental fortitude is pretty finite. Even someone like Griet, whom she knew had some intellectual merits in her own right, could end up being overstretched by one bad move. She began drinking that tiny portion of nearly-pure alcohol, the base drink from which flavors will be added, thinking to herself that there is only so much she could expect from such a tiny portion of the base drink. And then came the moment of truth, the moment that Griet, [member="Kami Meran"], as well as Tag, awaited for so long. As she began to drink the tihaar, in fact, drinking something of that strength for the first time in years, she began to feel a little different from usual, euphoric even. It would seem that drinking such alcohol would give her a wonderful feeling, even though it came at a cost: it seemed to be providing high recoil at the end of each gulp.

"Jane, why is it that you alchemize alcoholic beverages to make the drinkers allergic to alcohol? You don't seem to be suffering from the side effects that much" Griet asked Janick.

"The looks are deceiving. I only drank a child-sized serving. However, enough about those alchemical drinks" She then turned to Kami. "If that's your base drink, if that's what comes out of the initial filtering, then you can easily sell about half a million liters a day, that is, bring all six wells to full capacity"

"And this convo goes back to drilling, Jane... economies of scale are the reason why she got that many drill bits, and Meran Mechanics would probably be selling those in bulk by now"

"Speaing of which, I would probably like to buy a batch of drill bits so that we can alchemize them later"

"Yes, the alcohol is strong, much stronger than anything I drank in my lifetime"

Janick couldn't be blamed for attempting to follow up on that drink by drinking other. Once again, Griet wanted to be alchemizing drill bits outside of battle; it would give her something to do to develop herself, and [member="Kami Meran"] would be none the wiser. However, Janick let herself get distracted by the alcohol question, and she had to focus herself on the task at hand. Duranium was actually heavier than durasteel with tungsten carbide inserts; alchemizing the drill bit makes it even heavier. Hopefully the blonde pilot that could somehow be a closet petroleum engineer or something would understand. And the drill bits would have to be delivered to Utapau where they would be worked on, by both women at once. Just that drill bits would have to be stored somewhere, but where? How many drill bits would be capable of being stored in a garden shed behind the Utapau Alchemy Castle? Each Immobilizer-series ship have one Utai Pilot Seat, and they would also need to store drill bits? These would make the castle's backyard a little crowded, and Griet may as well be responsible for the drill bit part.

"Regarding the duranium drill bits, how many do we need to buy to get a group or bulk discount?"

( jeasud this is the 3rd time )

Kami preferred to let the financial department deal with these.
" Ok look as far as i am concerned these are as much yours than mine. for the deals go see Podg in accounting and sales." she admitted.
" to be honest i prefer to let the Cred heads deal with creds. i'm not sure with all of this."

Podg? Was Podg the accountant on duty on Asop? Perhaps Janick was due to a trip to the accountant's office, given that [member="Kami Meran"] has no clue as to how to handle drill bit orders, so she had Tag guide the two ladies to the accountant's office so to get the order for duranium drill bits placed. But she would like to place an order for the base drill bits while being mindful of exactly where it should be stored inside the castle for future reference. Barring that, their quarters onboard the Verdict would be chock-full of those drill bits, and that is going to be a nightmare for the other crewmembers, the tens of thousands of people that would be onboard with them. Once the two of them arrive at Podg's office, Griet keeps quiet, but that's probably because of her still needing to recover from her first attempt of imbueing items.

"I would like to place an order for duranium drill bits" Janick told Podg.

" ahh the infamous Kami disliking of paperwork . " the small cyborg woman joked.
" have to admit the boss likes people who know the books to deal with them. " it was true Kami was simply better with making things than she was with facts and figures.
" should be no problem. [member="Janick Beauchamp"]. there we go deal is done. "

That was all too easy to fill out the delivery information, and Janick got a bulk discount to boot. So they would get about fifty duranium drill bits as an initial stock from which to get Utai Drill Bits delivered to the Utapau Alchemy Castle on the fourth moon. That, knowing that the first six are already under the possession of one [member="Kami Meran"], whom the two ladies are back in front of. It seems that Griet's mental awareness is back to normal; she could finally tell a thing or two about the drill bit that might be of use to the Mandos that owned the very first drill bits. Meanwhile, Janick was satisfied that she was able to alchemize more than just the same old drinks or pilot seats. I can feel Griet knows more about mining than just the mining of liquids, her - very fast - mind is an open book, as far as mining is concerned; her mental characteristics are very similar to mine, fortitude notwithstanding, she thought. She had one last thing to say about how these drill bits should be used before they leave the planet behind, with a sample of "mineral tihaar":

"With these new drill bits you can also mine phrik or beskar ore, albeit at a much slower rate than common ores. They're first and foremost designed for drilling shafts for liquids mining, such as oil wells. Just don't use it on brittle stuff like Hijarna stones or stygium"

"Understood"
