STRENGTHS
  • Sensor and Visual Concealment (Nagnol gas variant): Nagnol gas has the ability to disrupt sensor scans and obstruct vision, making it excellent for providing concealment.
  • Anti-Laser Barrier (Anti-laser Aerosol variant): Anti-laser aerosol blocks laser and blaster fire, granting a temporary (until the gas dissipates) respite from hostile energy weapons fire.
WEAKNESSES
  • Double Blind (Nagnol gas variant): Nagnol gas disrupts sensors on both sides of the gas cloud, preventing either side from getting an accurate sensor reading or seeing the other.
  • Anti-Laser Barrier (Anti-laser Aerosol variant): Not only does the barrier prevent either side from firing laser or blaster weapons at each other, but it also doesn't effect solid projectile weapons.
  • Temporary Respite: The concealment/protection granted by both gasses will only last for as long as the gas cloud remains. Once it dissipates, so too does whatever benefit it granted. The gas cloud lasts for approximately two minutes under ideal atmospheric conditions, inclement humidity, air pressure and wind will drastically affect this.
  • Wind/Force Powers: Force abilities such as force push as well as naturally high wind can and will disperse the gas.
DESCRIPTION
Developed for use in the company's soft-kill active protection system as well as for use on their dropships, troopships and gunships the CG/GL-05 is a modular grenade that can either be filled with Nagnol gas or anti-laser aerosol. The project was put into development after early battlefield trials of the Vuhyr'galaar-class Gunship and the Busayr-class Troopship, which were rather large craft and both the craft themselves and the troops they deployed were vulnerable to ground fire, especially when unable to directly land and forced to deploy their troop complements. In order to alleviate this issue, the R&D team developed the CG/GL-05 grenade and in fact the same CG/GL-05 grenades used on aforementioned craft was then added to the 'Aleta' soft-kill APS as a result of the its success.

Given that the majority of the galaxy's armed forces make use of laser based weaponry, and given their own penchant towards using solid projectile based weaponry, Breshig War Forge Consolidated saw no reason whatsoever to not put together a countermeasure system that made use of anti-laser aerosol. This allowed troops using solid projectile based weapons to be able to return fire with little fear of facing return fire from energy weapons. Naturally, solid projectile weapons are unaffected, and as a result any and all incoming solid projectile weapons fire will still pass through the cloud of aerosol.

While smoke grenades are traditionally used as concealment, the proliferation of various sensor suites and optical systems that render them irrelevant has forced the technology to evolve. Breshig War Forge Consolidated's interpretation of that evolution is the Nagnol gas variant of the CG/GL-05 grenade. Nagnol gas' sensor affecting ability prevents the use of some of said technology to see through the concealment provided by the gas cloud, but it also prevents defenders from seeing past the cloud of smoke. It does however, make for excellent concealment to cover a retreat from a position or provide concealment from a sniper.

Hey there, quick question for you.

About how long does this gas last in a stable atmosphere? You say a short time, but that is vague enough someone might try to over play, or down play the viability of it.

Secondly, I recommend adding a weakness, or a note that the gas cloud can be affected by winds either naturally, or artificial such as Force Push, or the like.
