SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Two Launch Modes: The Dar'dabida has two launch modes. The first is fairly standard in which the missile utilizes its own drive system to reach the target. The second, however, is designed for use with the company's MMOL-series of launchers. In this mode, the missile is fired at full capacitor charge by the launcher, and coasts toward the target making only mild course corrections with the etheric rudders. Once the missile is in the terminal phase, it fires its engines on full burn, at which point the window in which it can be shot down by point-defences is extremely short.
  • Stealth: Between being a relatively small target, utilizing low profile thrusters and engines and having a reflec-based shadowskin coating, the Dar'dabida is a rather stealthy missile, potentially allowing it to avoid detection by ship-grade sensors, especially during chaotic, pitched battles.
  • Resistant: The missile's construction make it quite resistant to incoming point-defense fire, whether it be a kinetic, energy or perhaps even EMP/Ion based weapon system.
  • Force-dampening: The void stone dust isn't dense enough to severely affect force powers, it can certainly dampen abilities such as battlefield meditation to a notable degree.
WEAKNESSES
  • Force-dampening: The void stone dust cloud dampens force abilities, it does not cut them off completely. That would simply be largely impractical given the amount of voidstone dust in the missile and the realities of space combat.
  • EMP/Ion: While resistant to EMP/Ion damage, any damage that does actually get through will fry the missile's circuitry like a protato in a deep-fat fryer.
  • Double Edged Sword: The dust cloud works against both hostile and friendly force users in the same radius.
  • Sensor Range: The missile's range is very much affected by the range and resolution of the sensor suite of the launch platform, if the launch platform's sensor suite is short ranged then the missile cannot engage targets out to its maximum range.
DESCRIPTION
"Can't they move the cloud...?"
"Haran if I know, but if they're moving the cloud, they're focusing that much less on telling their friends how to kill you."
- Strill Securities officer trainee and Fleet Admiral Nyles Kote.
"Isn't it ironic that we're using what they paid us to make a missile like this?"
"Only if we use it on them...but there's enough out there that this helps us with that I don't care about how this looks."
- Strill Securities Fleet Admiral Nyles Kote and Breshig War Forge Consolidated CEO Shuklaar Kyrdol.
"So this is why we're babysitting the mining operation at Kayri."
- Unidentified Strill Securities Tra'verd on seeing the missile for the first time.
Designed and built during the waning days of the Confederacy and the company's contract with them, the Dar'dabida was designed to counter a problem that almost fittingly the company's warships would face during the coming battle over Naboo. The missiles would never leave their secure shipping cases, much less be loaded into tubes, as Shuklaar Kyrdol's strict orders had been for company warships to refrain from getting directly involved. The real reason for the missile's creation, however, was not to counter the foul creatures of the nether, rather to develop a counter against battlefield scale force powers should the need ever arise. Strill Securities was no stranger to the use of battlefield scale force powers and had been witness to the effects of battle meditation on more than one occasion, particularly while fighting alongside the Silver Jedi against the Bryn'adul threat, and had no intention of ever being on the receiving end of the same themselves.
The missile's operation is simple. The operator picks a target or desired targets, after which their information is downloaded to the missile's computer, which then decides optimal detonation distance for maximum effective coverage. Should the missile lose the target lock, a backup inertial guidance system will kick in and guide it in towards the earlier planned detonation distance. If not, the missile will continue to track the target(s) and update the distance to detonation based on the target(s)' location. Once the missile detonates, a cloud of voidstone dust is spread out, potentially dampening battlefield-scale force powers such as battle meditation. That said, the void stone dust cloud dampens force abilities, it does not cut them off completely. That would simply be largely impractical given the amount of voidstone dust in the missile and the realities of space combat. The vast dispersal is a double edged, sword, given that the dust affects both hostile and friendly force users.
Aside from the limitations of the voidstone, the missile itself has a two notable ones that BWFC engineers remind Strill fleet officers to remain aware of, The missile's range is very much affected by the range and resolution of the sensor suite of the launch platform, if the launch platform's sensor suite is short ranged then the missile cannot engage targets out to its maximum range. Additionally, while resistant to EMP/Ion damage, any damage that does actually get through will fry the missile's circuitry like a protato in a deep-fat fryer.
