DESCRIPTION
Designed to be used in the 'Vheh'buurenaar' Gas Countermeasure Launcher, the CGC-04 is essentially a scaled down version of the Dha Werda-class Countermeasure Gas Rocket. The canister based weapon comes in two variants, a nagnol gas based anti-sensor variant and a anti-laser aerosol and a dampener aerosol based anti-energy weapon variant. The weapon has a variable fuse, and thanks to it's complete lack of fancy electronics, it is entirely unaffected by ion/EMP weapon systems.
Nagnol gas has the ability to disrupt sensor scans and obstruct line of sight making it perfect for covering an advance or a retreat. In the void of space, the gas takes longer to dissipate, making it a longer lasting defense that is able to be used to greater effect from a longer distance. This allows fighters to temporarily blind attackers and rid themselves of missiles in a more surefire manner. Unfortunately, the gas cloud obstructs line of sight and disrupts sensor scans both ways, from the perspective of the firer as well as the target.
The combination of anti-laser aerosol and dampener aerosol creates an effective gas-based barrier against energy weapons. In the void of space, the gas takes longer to dissipate, making it a longer lasting defense that is able to be used to greater effect from a longer distance. This latter feature of the anti-energy weapon canister has been put to use by Strill Securities pilots to allow them to fire their mass-drivers while preventing their opponents from firing back with energy weapons. Though this does potentially restrict friendly energy weapons fire as well.
Finally, the area of effect of the small canisters isn't enough to affect larger capital ships in the numbers they can feasibly be deployed in. Though they can still be used to blind single emplacements.
