OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To make a rocket deployed gas-based countermeasure rocket for use by in later subs as well as for sale for use by others.
  • Canon Link: N/A.
  • Permissions: N/A.
  • Primary Source: Anti-laser Aerosol, Dampener Aerosol and Nagnol Gas.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Aerosol Rocket.
  • Size: Average.
  • Weight: Heavy.
  • Explosive Type: Anti-laser Aerosol and Dampener Aerosol or Nagnol Gas.
  • Delivery Method: Launched.
  • Effective Range: Battlefield.
  • Area Of Effect: Battlefield. Aforementioned is the largest dispersion area, smaller dispersion areas can be set prior to launch.
  • Stopping Power: None.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Variable dispersion: The dispersion area can be set prior to launch.
  • Designed to work with the CL-02M Countermeasure Launcher, which can set detonation distance and dispersion area.
STRENGTHS
  • Sensor and Visual Concealment (Nagnol gas variant): Nagnol gas has the ability to disrupt sensor scans and obstruct line of sight making it perfect for covering an advance or a retreat. In the void of space, the gas takes longer to dissipate, making it a longer lasting defense that is able to be used to greater effect from a longer distance.
  • Anti-Energy Weapon Barrier (Anti-laser Aerosol and Dampener Aerosol Gas variant): The combination of anti-laser aerosol and dampener aerosol creates an effective gas-based barrier against energy weapons. In the void of space, the gas takes longer to dissipate, making it a longer lasting defense that is able to be used to greater effect from a longer distance.
  • Fixed Detonation Distance: There are no fancy electronics to short out, only very simple circuitry that will detonate after a preset time, dispersing gas within the preset dispersion area.
  • High Speed: The rockets are equipped with powerful engines to enable them to cross the distance between their targets and their launch platform at an extremely
WEAKNESSES
  • Double Blind (Nagnol gas variant): The gas cloud obstructs line of sight and disrupts sensor scans both ways, from the perspective of the firer as well as the target.
  • Anti-Energy Barrier: The gas cloud blocks energy weapons fire from both sides.
  • Unguided: The rockets are unguided, and as such the firing solution has to be plotted carefully to ensure they actually detonate where they're supposed to.
  • Straight Line: These rockets follow a straight flight path, meaning that while their speed gives them a decided edge against point-defense systems, their predictable flight path negates some of that advantage.
DESCRIPTION
Designed to be a used in a defensive network of CL-02 Countermeasure Launchers, the Dha Werda-class Countermeasure Gas Rocket gives any ship that uses it a degree of tactical flexibility not usually thought possible. Originally developed as a means to increase the effectiveness of their warships, both those designed for export and as well as those made for use by Strill Securities and the Breshig clan forces, the Dha Werda gives a clever starship captain the ability to dictate several determining factors such as engagement range and even potentially the pace of a battle.
The rocket has two variable payloads; one with nagnol gas and the other loaded with a combination of anti-laser and blaster dampener aerosol. The first becomes extremely useful in covering either an advancing or retreating ship, whether the vessel that is launching the rockets or an allied vessel. The anti-laser/blaster dampener aerosol combination can provide a vessel temporary respite against hostile fire in an energy weapon dominated galaxy. The rockets are unguided, and travel extremely quickly, making them immune to most countermeasure systems and difficult to shoot down by typical point-defense systems.
Unfortunately, being unguided is a double edged sword. The firing solution has to be plotted carefully to ensure they actually detonate where they're supposed to. Additionally, because these rockets fly in a straight flight path, their predictable flight path negates some of the advantage levied upon them by their high speed. Additionally, both the gas payloads obstruct sensors and energy weapons fire respective from both sides. That said, a clever ship captain will be able to make up for the systems shortfalls with its decided advantages, making this quite a game changing system in the right hands.
