Suggestion Board Wide Event - Voting

Delila Castillon

#GhostlyRedheadsReign
The idea struck me during Kitter's thread about the board being stale. Is there an appetite with Staff to solicit suggestions for a board-wide event, let the board vote on those ideas(say the three best), and turn the winner into a month long event? There is potentially some work for Staff but I feel realistically two/three volunteers under the purview of Staff could assist with write-ups, DMing threads, etc as well as faction owners and various other groups.

Realistically a board-wide event could be under way by September if there was enough interest.

I'd want it back, ngl. Those were fun for me.

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
they are fun and I miss them. I know from a few the biggest barrier was participation but also progression. It is something that happened a few times like in Dark Harvest and Valen. Mirrorverse was somehow both incredibly fun and saltfest aat times when anyone could make an evil or good version of a character but would be fun to see it come back.
Delila Castillon Delila Castillon if you had ideas, I have plenty of time for feedback or ideas

From what I recall of site events, the "best" ones had rewards that made folks salivate.

My favorite was Dark Harvest where folks got rule-breakingly strong SSDs, crazy artifacts, etc. with the blessing of staff.

There were others that gave butt loads of territory too as well to the participants.

I'm down for a site event, but I think we'd get a lot more fish with tangible shinies to chase. (Disclaimer I am a destiny addict so chasing loot is my jam)

In this case, I agree with ya. Shinies are nice. They don't have to be extra big, but some kind of incentive does wonders.

An event like that can give rise to subsequent stories - and stories make the world go round. Loot is a plus that will be welcomed with opened arms, ngl.

Planetshift was a board wide event :(

Iirc we did ez major faction status for it to fill the bigger map
Yeeeeeeee. And that was fun.

We not asking for another major haul like Planetshift. But it is about that time to do one again. A site-wide thread thing again. It's fun. For me at least. I like em. And clearly some others too.

They don't have to be life-altering like a new map and stuff. I at least realise what that took from staff - hot damn. I still marvel at the map every time I open it.

But bit smaller and still something that can impact site story in some way as a consequence after the thread, can defs be great. I'm a stan of staff events. Omni 2.0 was another recentish one I can think of that had some fun from it with the hypergates. I'm one of the few losers that still use/ want to use them. Cause they are a cool mechanic.

As someone who ran several of these in the past, I will say there's nothing stopping anyone running something.

Staff will not be hosting or running them ourselves though. There is an exceptional amount of work and effort involved, and the results are usually disappointing. Trying to corral people to do things and then making sure they DO those things is the big issue.

But if someone wants to organise and run something, feel free! It won't be as big as some of the old events like Omega, but that's for the best.
