She was very proud of him. He stood and watched, but kept the right distance and even tried to read the flow of battle. Perhaps it was the Epicanthix in him, or the Noble, or both - either way, he called out some enemies waiting behind a door, and Valery blinked when she realized how quick he was at picking up on it.

She raised a hand, and with tremendous force, sent the door flying out of its frame and into the soldiers behind it. Then she moved in, as fast as a bullet, and cut them down before they could rise with their weapons aimed at her, or worse, at her son. The move separated her from Aris for a moment, but she extended her hand to him and called him over.

"You've seen dad start up the Bastion before, right? If you go inside and can do that for your mom, I can cover the way out with Seszil."

Kahlil_Div2.png

Aris stayed back just for a moment. A moment long enough to become a target. There was no hesitation from the Imperials as they locked on the boy to open fire. So many had already been slaughtered after all. But they'd never get the chance to pull the trigger. Seszil had already come down to rip through the would be shooters, leaving Aris safe. And none the wiser at that. Once he was called over he moved towards the Bastion, practically sprinting on board.

"I got it mom!"

He knew how the ship worked well enough. Well, mostly well enough. He turned his gaze over the controls, frowning deeply as he did. He knew how to do this, yeah. It wasn't quick, but he did start to get the Bastion ready for flight.

Seszil shot down beside Valery, hovering midair. "There are more coming. It's a wonder they don't have ships inbound. Is Bastion no longer their world?"

Valery felt a spike of danger targeting Aris and was about ready to level the entire city block to protect him. But then she felt Seszil, and put her trust in the blade to keep her son protected. Seszil did not disappoint, and not only kept the Imperials away, but did it in such a way that Aris didn't even notice. That kind of efficient protection almost made Valery feel a little bit jealous.

This was her son, after all.

"You got this, sweetie. We will protect you," she assured with a loving smile before she watched him rush off into the ship. It made her smile, but only briefly as more trouble started making its way over to her and Seszil.

"No, the Empire crumbled and all that's left are remnants clinging to power of the past. It makes them dangerous and unpredictable. They would even harm my child." There was motherly fury in her tone, but outwardly she seemed very calm.

"I sense a stronger presences too. I think we pulled enough attention for them to bring their leader here. I can handle the Knight if you want to pick off the rest?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I know you will."

Aris had absolute faith in his parents. And right now, Valery certainly wouldn't disappoint. He stayed in the ship, focusing on making sure it was up and running as soon as possible. Seszil on the other hand stayed close to Valery for a brief moment longer.

"It shall be done, my Lady."

Then they were off, ripping through the air to find it's targets. There would be none left alive this day.

"I know you will."

Valery smiled at her son's words, even as Imperials flooded the Hangar. They were so focused on trying to kill her and her son, but Valery was not afraid. After everything that happened, the Imperials could never scare her again.

She was ready for them, and that included the man in long, white robes with a silver hilt in his hand.

"It shall be done, my Lady."

My lady? Valery smirked and wondered if Seszil was trying to score brownie points with her now. She didn't think about it for long though, because as soon as the blade moved to cut down Inperials, Valery dashed across the distance between her and the Knight and swept her blade into his guard. He was taller and looked physically stronger than Valery, but she was pushing him back several steps.

It helped that Aris could see her from the ship, so she had to show off a bit.

<Aris? Almost ready?>

Kahlil_Div2.png

Aris was staring.

His eyes were practically sparkling as he watched Valery take on the Imperial Knights from the cockpit. To say he was distracted would be absolutely correct, and it wasn't until she spoke up that he blinked and immediately went back to work on getting everything set up properly. <I.. Yeah! Almost! It's uh- There! Done!> The Bastion kicked over then, the vessel's engine coming to life as the thrusters underneath started to push the ship skyward. He knew Valery could get on board easily, after all.

<Let's go!>

The Imperial Knight would never understand the sudden grin on Valery's face, but he had very little time left, anyway. She knew her son was distracted watching her, and while that maybe should have been a little alarming, Valery was just happy that he enjoyed watching his mother fight. So to make sure he wouldn't miss a thing, she pressed the offensive and tapped into the Force as she focused not on the Knight, but on his weapon.

The second that their blades locked again, the silver hilt of his lightsaber shattered into pieces, and Valery just swept her blade in towards him to give him no time to breathe or respond. With a final gasp of air, his body hit the floor and Valery ran to catch up. She didn't like having to kill, and spent just a second in reflection when she jumped up and caught the ramp of the Bastion to climb inside.

"Blast off, sweetie!" Valery called out as she ran into the cockpit and plopped down into the co-pilot seat. It was only then, that she realized he was flying the ship.

"...sweetie? Should uh, I take it again?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Blast off. Aris could do that, right? He glanced about the controls, frowning in concentration as he tried to make sure he could see what he was doing. Just as another presence joined the ship, too. Seszil floated in beside them, keeping behind as if to act as a barrier to intruders as the ship continued upwards. And only upwards.

"...sweetie? Should uh, I take it again?"

"Um.. Yes. I'm unsure if I can keep control of this."

Valery snickered and gently picked Aris up and out of his seat before putting him down. She'd let him sit back in the co-pilot seat first, and then finally blasted out of the atmosphere. The hyperspace route back home was already plotted and she didn't want to risk anybody coming after them, so she moved as fast towards the exit of the gravitational field as she could.

Even if coming home meant showing Kahlil the damage she had caused to the Bastion.

Maybe the sword could distract him.

"Anything on sensors, Aris? Or are we in the clear?"

Valery smiled and leaned in a little closer to point at the display where he'd be able to see it if there were other ships on sensors, "Very good, there is nothing on sensors. We are cleared to go home." She grinned and gestured for the hyperspace lever. The kids always loved pulling it, so now it was his turn to send the Bastion across the stars.

But as they did, Valery got an idea.

"You think your dad would believe it if I told him the worst of the damage is because of the Imperials?" Valery smirked and clearly joked, but it was an amusing thought.

A thought that briefly distracted her from thinking about his expression when he saw his ship. The dent was pretty bad and the paint scratches meant having to repaint entire panels.

Oops.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I think lying is never something you should do." Aris glanced up to Valery, blinking with the innocent eyes of a child who'd never had to lie for a good reason in his life. It's not like Kahlil would do anything bad, right? He was always very calm and understanding.

"I too don't think you should lie to the Master." Seszil spoke up to put out his own opinion, though that was just from pure loyalty to Kahlil, not so much the ideal that lying was always unnecessary.

Valery blinked and looked at both Aris and Seszil, "Geeze, I was just joking." She chuckled, shook her head lightly and reached over to ruffle his hair. "If your dad tries only a little bit, he knows what I'm feeling or thinking no matter how far away I am. Our bond is very special like that." She wasn't sure how much he understood about the Dyad, but she was certain he'd know what a bond was.

There was one between him and his parents too already, and it was growing stronger every day.
"But I'll uh, talk to him about it after we introduce Seszil. Alone." That was definitely going to be necessary for reasons she'd keep to herself.

Not much later, the ship finally dropped from Hyperspace and the Epicanthix world became visible.

"Alright, buckle up." Valery smiled and brought the Bastion down for a landing. Had it always beeneaning a little to the left on its landing gear? Oops, maybe it wasn't just a dent. Valery glanced through the window and spotted Kahlil coming outside to meet them. She let out a sigh, then chuckled and lowered the ramp.

"Come on, go show your dad who we found on Bastion."

Kahlil_Div2.png

She was joking? Aris blinked slowly but nodded after a second. That made some sense. Mom and dad will talk and things will be fine. He smiled and nodded again as they landed and followed her inside. With the sword floating close beside him. Kahlil raised a brow right up as he glanced towards it, then to Valery and Aris. Then let out a sigh. ".. You guys had quite a bit of fun, huh?"

"Just like you and Vera," Valery said smugly before she glanced at her son. "Our family always gets up to fun stuff, hm?" She patted him atop his head and looked at Kahlil again with a smile, though there was something nervous to it as well. Soon enough, Aris was going to run off to do his own thing again, and they'd have to talk about the Bastion.

"The blade does have a darker connection still. It asked if we could use lightning on it..." she shook her head and chuckled. "At least Seszil seems to be polite — I'm my Lady now," Valery waggled her eyebrows, flicked some hair over her shoulder in an exaggerated way, and turned to Aris.

"Seszil also seems to listen to Aris here, which isn't too surprising. But if we're going to keep the blade around, we should probably make sure it's cleansed and is of no danger to anybody here."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Seszil." Kahlil took a breath as he glanced down to the sword beside Aris. A visibly pained smile had taken over his expression. All this time, and he'd forgotten the blade. And it was Aris who found them. Aris, who also was left alone for so long. There was still more he probably needed to find again. Perhaps when the Mandalorian Crusades were stopped. For now, though, he stepped over beside the sword.

It had gone rather quiet before lifting up to rest in his hands.

"Thank you, Aris, for finding him. I'll heal him up."

"Heal him?"

"Yes. I.. Have made many mistakes in my younger years. One of which hurt them deeply. So, I will heal them."

Noticing the pained smile, Valery stepped closer and gently placed her hand against the side of his shoulder. She knew that finding and taking care of things he had left behind during his Sith days was important to him, so Seszil wouldn't be an exception to that. Naturally, it also meant Valery would want to support him.

"Aris did really well, and Seszil here did great at protecting our son too. It seems they formed a bond very naturally." She was hinting at it a little, but she believed that maybe it was meant to be that thr blade and Aris would find each other.

Something that passed down from father to son.

"As for healing it, maybe involve one or some of our Padawans? It could be a good learning experience because it's a lot safer than finding your old labs or dealing with Sith creations in the field."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"It.. Could." Kahlil mulled it over a little, very visibly. Bringing more of their Padawans into this would be a good lesson for certain, but there was some shame with it. What he'd done here was one of the darkest. He did let out a sigh before nodding, smiling towards Valery.

"That would be good, I think. Seszil."

".. Yes?"

"Do you understand?"

"I.. Do, yes. I am.. Confused as to why, though."

"Because no one should suffer in the dark, my old friend."

"Only if you're ready for it, love." She smiled at her husband and reached for his hand to gently squeeze it. She'd understand if he preferred to handle it entirely alone as well, but he typically liked involving their Padawans when it was possible. This was sot safer than dragging them through a Galaxy full of danger, so it had the potential to be an amazing lesson for them.

But it was his choice to make.

"We'll make sure that you are comfortable here with us," Valery then said with a dip of her head. She wasn't sure if swords felt comfort, but the Dark surely had some kind of effect on it.

"Maybe we can keep Seszil in a dedicated room for now? After the healing, maybe it's worth giving him more time with Aris? Their connection seemed special to me. Unless you'd want Seszil back by your side again?" Valery looked at Aris, wondering how he felt about it.

Was Seszil growing on him?

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I think, Seszil, that is your choice to make." Kahlil glanced to the blade, giving it a brief smile before looking back to Valery and Aris. Aris nodded, though it was clear he did actually want Seszil to stay with him. But he wasn't going to force the blade to do anything.

"I won't be able to return you to what you were, though. You'll always be this, not a Shard."

"I.. Understand. I will.. Have to think on it. On all of this. .. But I do want to be healed."
