"Stop!"

Valery's eyes widened when she heard her son call out, and felt the pressure between her blade and the sword fade away. It was at that moment she realized who controlled the blade. It had obviously once followed Kahlil's will, but it made sense that such a thing could be passed down to his son. Especially with Aris being a clone of him.

"Aris...?" Valery asked while she looked at him holding the weapon.

"Are you okay, sweetie?" She lowered her blade and approached slowly, her gaze still fixated on the weapon. It had felt dark to her before, so she was worried it'd influence her son. Something she'd never allow to happen.

"How does it feel when you hold it?"

"Scared?"

Valery frowned and decided to do something that went against her nature — she disengaged her weapon and even clipped it back to her belt. It left her vulnerable, especially against a blade that needed nobody to physically hold it to be lethal. But somewhere deep down, she felt assured that if it attacked her, Kahlil would reach out across the stars somehow to stop it. There was no way he'd let anything he made hurt her, right?

Or... her son would stop it.

"Baby, can you tell it that I won't do anything to it? Maybe it can feel my connection to you and your dad?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Okay. .. She's not an enemy."

Aris glanced down the blade, smiling faintly. Reassuringly as best he could, all things considered. The sword was very much alive in his hands, just.. Dormant? No, not dormant. Waiting. Patient. After a moment it's voice spoke, but not just in Aris's head as it had before. The soft voice came from within the blade itself, hesitant. Frightened still.

".. Are you sure? She is Jedi. I saw the Light. It burned your Shadow away, Master."

"That's very kind of you to say, sweetie." Valery smiled sheepishly while her son talked to the blade. It wasn't her first time dealing with objects that seemed sentient, but it was still odd to see. Perhaps it didn't help that it was listening only to the requests of a young boy - it added a lot of pressure on her son and that worried her just a little bit.

But she also trusted him.

"...I'm not here to cause harm to anything. I had to defend myself and my son." Maybe if it knew she was his mother, it'd back down or at least not be afraid anymore. Similarly, she wasn't going to attack it for as long as her son could control it.

"Aris, is it safe?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I.. Do not understand."

Aris blinked in surprise, watching the blade for a moment longer before looking up to his mom. Smiled just a little in the process. "It's safe. For all of us. You don't have to be alone this time." There was more being shared with Aris than what the sword was saying. He tightened his grip before looking up to Valery. Nodded.

"I'm not your Master. But he's my father. And this is his wife. .. He'll want to help."

The moment Aris nodded, Valery felt safe enough to approach and hopefully break the barrier that had been there until now. He was doing a great job at calming down the sword, which sounded ridiculous but it was their reality now. Valery knew she could have dealt with the sword herself too if it had been necessary, but it would have ended in its destruction. And seeing her son handle it instead was also something that made her feel extremely proud.

He was so mature for his age, and so incredibly smart too.

"Is there anything else you feel down here, sweetie? This is the time to find stuff from your dad." Valery herself looked around too. She doubted that Kahlil was the type back then to take pictures of himself or things important to him, but a part of her hoped to find more related to him.

"I do sense those Imperials we left behind above us in the city still, too. They know we have to go back to the spaceport at some point."

Kahlil_Div2.png

Aris shook his head as he glanced down the path. There wasn't anything else he felt. More.. It felt empty here. As if something had been here at one point anyway. He frowned as he tightened his grip on the blade. "Is there something else here..?"

"No. The armor was taken by.. Your father's minion." There was a feeling of uncertainty from the blade, but it didn't hesitate to answer the question it was asked. Aris nodded once before looking up to Valery. Gulped. More Imperials?

"I don't know who that is, but.. Do you want to come with us?"

"I would, yes. Are we leaving immediately?"

There was something odd about seeing her son talking to a sword, but perhaps she shouldn't be too surprised - this was par for the course in the Noble family. His father had some very unique and peculiar skills, Vera was a mastermind of visions
, and Valery wasn't exactly the most normal of Jedi eirher.

In many ways, it made things fun and interesting around the house.

At the mention of more imperials, Aris gulped and Valery was quick to place a hand atop his head to gently ruffle his hair, "We'll be okay. I'm going to protect you and...it seems we have something else to protect you too." Valery glanced at the sword, only a bit hesitant about trusting it with her son. But if it was made by Kahlil, she knew it wouldn't fail.

"Well, you said his armor was taken but is there anything else related to my husband here? I'd like to collect anything interesting before we leave and, well, deal with the people waiting for us."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"He destroyed what he could before he left, so that when the Imperials betrayed the Sith what was left wouldn't be easy to sense." At least, that's what the sword believed. Aris frowned a bit at the emotion. Unfailing loyalty to the idea of who Kahlil had been, from the feelings he was getting. Though the blade suddenly moved from his hands to float around him. The idea that there was danger seemed to have the blade on edge.

Or just ready to defend it's charges.

"What should we call you?"

".. I do not remember the name I had been given. It has been.. A long time."

Aris didn't even frown. Instead, he smiled, nodding to the blade. "Then.. How about Seszil?"

".. Silver?"

"Mhmm! I think it suits you well."

".. Very well. I.. Like it."

Valery seemed a little disappointed that the rest had been destroyed, but she couldn't really blame Kahlil for it. He had his reasons for it at the time, and if it really meant keeping potentially dangerous research out of Imperial hands, that had probably been a good decision. The Empire has turned into its own monster during the later wars, after all.

"Silver, huh?" Valery chuckled and ruffled her son's hair again. "I like the name too, sweetie. Just make sure to not lose control, okay?"

Valery then turned her eyes to the blade and she seemed a lot more serious all of a sudden. "Can you keep my son safe? We have trouble up ahead and I will, of course, protect him. But I'd like to make sure you will too." Aris could probably see and feel that motherly protectiveness all over her, but that didn't bother her.

This was her son, after all.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Loose control?

Aris tilted his head and just looked rather confused. "What would I loose control of?"

Seszil, however, hovered between them both, but seemed to dip just a bit. Something like a bow, probably. "It is my duty to protect my Master. You belong to him, so I shall protect you as I would him."

Valery sighed, "I don't know...you seemed to be able to make the blade listen to you. I just don't want anything to happen there where you lose that ability or be put at risk." She stood close to her son now, and crouched down to place her hands atop his shoulders.

"But you aren't worried, are you?" She chuckled and smiled at him. "Tough, just like your dad is." She learned forward to kiss his forehead and stood back up to turn to the sword.

"Belong to him, hm?" She snickered a little then dipped her head. "The Imperials outside are using blasters mostly, so we'll need to pressure them and not give in to their range advantage. If you head in first, I'll go after you and bring Aris along."

Kahlil_Div2.png

Aris blinked in surprise before reaching up to pat Valery's head as she crouched down. Gave a smile that was all too familiar to Kahlil's own when he was trying to get her not to overthink things. "I'm not worried. Seszil said they'd protect us both, and I trust them." That's all that mattered. He didn't feel any deceit or anger from the blade while he held it. He wasn't really the kind who could judge that well, if at all.

And yet, there still was no doubt in his eyes.

"Blasters are ineffective against me. If either of you could charge me with Lightning, I would easily be able to clear out the whole encampment of traitors. If not, I still can, but it won't be as quick. The real problem will be if they're blasted Imperial Knights are around, or any counter measures to the Force."

"What do you mean?"

"Without the Force, young master, I am incapable of doing anything."

".. Oh. That sounds.. Uncomfortable."

"Very, young master."

Valery blinked when Aris patted her on the head, but it's that smile that really sent a warm tremor through her body. He really was just like his dad, huh? Weirdly enough, the confidence of the 7-year-old actually reassured her too, even though he was far too young to accurately assess all forms of danger. It was just a feeling she had because of him.

Didn't mean she wasn't going to watch him like a hawk-bat, though.

"I'm uh, afraid we left lightning behind us. I can infuse you with fire though, maybe?" She shrugged and looked at Aris for a moment. Her hand reached for his to bring him close, then she turnes back to Seszil.

"I saw or felt no countermeasures to the Force, but it is possible they have Imperial Knights leading them. My husband and I ran into one leading another splinter group as well. I can help you with that though, if you trust me."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I absorb only the purest manifestation of the Dark, my Lady. Not some flame." If a sword could clear it's throat, it was very obvious they were. The indignation of being enflamed rather than using the real power they had access to.

Aris just laughed, a little. "I don't think that's something we'll ever be able to do. But yes, we'll help. If you trust us."

There was a pause.

"I do. .. Let's get you back to my Master."

<Babe, your sword is a dick.>

Valery huffed and narrowed her gaze at Seszil, "Some flame. Excuse you. My fire is far brighter than what some Dark Side dependant Sith could muster." She huffed again and gave her son a bit of a look when he laughed. Luckily, he was just amused about the blade still clinging to the Dark a little, rather than taking his chances laughing at his mother.

She was close to reconsidering their cocoa deal for just a second.

"Alright, then we'll head out together. You lead the way back up, then we head for the spaceport. I already damaged the Bastion, so we're not also leaving it behind." Kahlil would really be angry with her at that point.

Which...was usually almost exciting l, but not when it concerned the Bastion.

"Let's go!" With a flick of her hand, she reopened the door and gently pulled her son along. Imperials were already waiting just outside, guns raised and even with some cover set up. It was time to see Seszil in action.

Kahlil_Div2.png

<I.. What?>

Surprise was clear through their bond. Whatever Kahlil was doing with Vera, it seemed to have his full attention. Confusion was the only thing he currently had as it echoed through. <You'll have to explain when you get back.>

Aris stayed beside Valery though as they neared the hangar. His eyes narrowed, focused on the Imperials. He couldn't fight them, not as he currently was, but he didn't want to shy away or just hide from a fight. He was still Epicanthix after all. Seszil though, the sword didn't hesitate to suddenly fly forward. There was no delay or hesitation from the living blade as it suddenly carved through the first trooper.

Like a hot knife through butter, even. Without a proper way to handle something like this, the Imperials didn't stand a chance against the Sith Sword.

<Oh, I will.> She had questions about the sword, and wanted to make sure nothing dark could happen with it while it was close to her son. Some dark side artifacts could corrupt minds, after all. Sure, he was an Epicanthix who could handle it with his fortress mind, but they also had the triplets and Vera at home. If Seszil was any threat at all, they would have to find a way to cleanse it.

"One day, you'll be strong enough to protect me," Valery said softly while she moved with her son. She could tell that a part of him wanted to stand tall and fight as well, but she was happy that he realized he shouldn't, and stayed close to his mother instead. Protecting her children was something she felt strong about, and even enjoyed a lot.

The days of them being little were just too much fun.

"There! Down the right!" Valery calles out, as she suddenly changed directions to avoid a cluster of enemy soldiers. But evading trouble entirely was not possible, and from the rooftops, a few snipers opened up. Valery deflected the bolts away, then waited.

Seszil would get them too.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I know." Aris nodded once as he looked up to his mother, then turned his gaze back to the battle. It was ultimately still a battle, but.. Didn't it feel too one sided? Seszil was quite literally carving through the ranks, though that seemed to immediately cease once Valery and Aris were in danger. Aris moved with Valery, keeping himself small, close yet out of the way enough to both watch her fight and make sure he didn't get in her blade's paths.

Like an arrow it ripped across the rooftop, cleaving head from shoulders on the snipers from above.

"Ahead. I can see them behind the doors."
