OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To further flesh out the particular mutational properties inflicted upon and gained by Credius Nargath after the Atrisian Campaign with the CIS, the consequential contact with the Blackwing Virus and the impact of utilizing untested anti-viral suppressants and their side effects. Also further delving into the effects upon his physical form due to decades of inactivity in stasis and the virulence of both the blackwing strain within himself and the properties some of his physical attributes now possess or lack.

  • GENERAL INFORMATION
    • Name: Blackwing Afflicted - Plaguelord
    • Designation: Sentient
    • Origins: Atrisia Primary (first contact with Blackwing) | N&Z labs Secondary
As the origin is the result of both the infection with the blackwing virus and the unexpected results coming from a most likely overdose on untested proprietary drugs made by the N&Z, both will be listed as being the point of origin for this particular species/individual.
    • Average Lifespan: While this has yet to be verified due to the only current "living" specimen still being "alive", given their current age having surpassed 100 years of age, it can be assumed they would be capable of reaching lifespans of at least 100y.
    • Estimated Population: [ Unique For now this species is relegated to a single individual due to the unique circumstances of their creation.
    • Description: The Blackwing Afflicted - Plaguelord is a unique specimen, a one of a kind occurance within the science of bio-engineering and virology, where the outcome is completely different from the expected result. In the case of the Plaguelord, it is neither a mindless, predatory undead like most, if not all Blackwing afflicted end up being, yet it can also no longer be counted among the living persay. A Plaguelord fluctuates between death and life, a precarious line manifested within them in the form of a strange mutation occuring for a strangely, highly specific reason which is detailed below, alongside the boons, quirks and drawbacks within the mutation on both a physical and mental level.

Unique to the Plaguelord, is the presence of an underlying, semi-sentient mutation caused by a coinsidential side effect of the utilized anti-viral suppressants and the Plaguelord's own connection to the force. This semi-sentient mutation resides within the Plaguelord's very own blood and is classified as Blackwing Strain 71, the very basis of several deadly viruses and species linked above in the accompanying links to this dissertation. This mutation as it were is the true carrier of the Blackwing virus afflicting the Plaguelord and both utilizes the Plaguelord to propagate itself, but as it is bound to the plaguelord for sustenance and growth it has formed a rather unique, symbiotic relationship with its host. Through the ingestion of biological material or the direct draining of lifeforce, the Plaguelord can thus satiate the semi-sentient mutation, which in turn will heal the Plaguelord's body to a certain degree, meaning that most healing is only temporary and mainly in order to maintain proper function of the host's circulatory and locomotive functions. Meaning that it will speed up the body's process of healing broken bones, internal wounds and such as long as this process does not outweigh the incoming lifeforce. The lower the incoming lifeforce, the lower the active healing provided to the host.

In reality there are already three documented stages in which the Plaguelord can be noticed, the first stage simply reveals the fact they have constantly vibrant crimson and golden eyes, similar to some sith, but with the added inhuman element of having a slit pupil and sometimes even blackened sclera, with the latter mainly indicative of the internal mutation's activity. In the second stage, where the body is under heavy stress, decay settles in and skin becomes pallid, dry and may crack, hairloss can occur and the Plaguelord will have a rather emaciated look. The third stage makes the Plaguelord look more like a flayed corpse rather than a living being and is a severe case in which the mutation is burning up the body's reserves to maintain its own integrity at the cost of the host despite their somewhat symbiotic existence.
  • PHYSICAL INFORMATION
    • Breathes: Technically doesn't, but the human host does operate at optimal capacity in atmosphere types which are capable of sustaining human life.
    • Average Height of Adults: 210 cm
    • Average Length of Adults: N/A
    • Skin color: somewhere between alabaster and pallid/transluscent depending on the stage of the mutation
    • Hair color: Blond, silver gray, none depending on the mutation and the effect on the host
    • Distinctions: Besides the aforementioned Eyes' irises being a vibrant crimson and gold color surrounding a snake-like slit pupil, there's also the fact that the mutation within the Plaguelord can manifest itself as wriggles underneath the skin, the black color of their "blood" which is in fact the mutational virus within them as well. Depending on the stages in which they find themselves as explained earlier, their appearance may range from only slightly different than usual to wholly grotesque and horrifying.
    • Races: There is only one member of the species, thus no races have been formed or created yet. However, by the nature of the afflicted, through the recreation of the way this being came to be, the chance of a second Plaguelord being created is never zero and there is no information on whether or not the individual's original race has any impact on the creation of a Plaguelord so far.
    • Force Sensitivity: All As this form is the result of the side effects of the use of an untested substance on a force sensitive person, it has been speculated that should there ever be more like this one, these would almost certainly also have a high degree of force power and potential to reach a similar state of being.
    • Strengths:
      • Rapid Regeneration of even the most severe non-lethal wounds, such as torn limbs, stabs through the body, etc, as long as these do not affect the brain, though at the cost of activated midichlorian's stored energy, thus lowering the strength and connection to the force whenever healing.
      • Strongly increased physical strength, agility and reaction speed [stage 1-2]
      • Insanely high pain treshold
      • Massively increased sensitivity to the presence of concentrations of midichlorians, capable of sensing force sensitivity in people even when force cloaking is active [stage 3]
      • Increased sensory capacities, such as sight, smell, taste, hearing, touch
      • A much more powerful presence, with practically passive air of unease and an unnatural pressure about them.
      • Hightened mental properties, allowing for a strange sort of hivemind, overriding control [NPC only/PC only if agreed upon] and telepathic communication with those who have been touched/afflicted by the Plaguelord in question and thus carry part of the mutation.
      • The ability to allow the mutational blood to manifest itself outside of the body in the form of strong, sticky tendrils which can be utilized to hold items or as an attempt to potentially infect others with it. [stage 1-2]
      • Practically unaffected by the majority of hostile atmospheres, surroundings and the likes.
      • Highly resistant up to near immunity to most common toxins, poisons, mutagens, anti-viral drugs, etc... though this does not stop these products from working when they have been tailormade and even the ones where a near immunity is present will still need to be filtered out by the body.
      • "Technically" and "Theoretical" limitless force potential [within limits of accepted rp]
    • Weaknesses:
      • Strengths diminish when going through the phases, with Stage three mainly having the sensory advantages, yet with great physical deterioration and lowered force potential as a result, regular intake of the living force and biological lifeforce is mandatory.
      • Fluctuating force potential/strength within the force due to the internal activities of the mutation [any player utilizing this race will be bound to cycle through the stages of the mutation, thus avoiding abuse of the strongest form at all times]
      • Insatiable hunger, a drive to consume and drain both the living force and lifeforce from others.
      • Passive force drain, resulting in a noticeable presence whether the individual wants it or not, making stealth rather impossible in the presence of force sensitive individuals [stage 3]
      • Physical contact or social interactions are limited depending on the stage in which the individual finds itself, especially in the vicinity of those who have great force potential.
      • Very succeptible to intensely bright light, which feels uncomfortable and may even hurt the individual through the lack of properly UV filtering skin. In stage 3 bright light may even actively burn the individual.
  • CULTURE
    • Diet: Omnivore, the individual retains their ability of consuming foods at their leisure, though they are no longer bound to normal caloric intake and have a much higher resistance to foreign substances such as poisons and inedibles due to their rearranged biology.
    • Communication: While they ostensively use the standard communication patterns of their original race, which in this case would be vocal communication. Any who have been infected or have been altered with the use of the mutation afflicting the Plaguelord are in essence capable of conversing through a strange link, a hivemind of sorts, allowing for talks from great distances, but also overriding control and telepathic linking.
    • Technology level: Galactic Standard with a twist, as The Lord of Hunger, as the Plaguelord calls himself, was a gifted engineer and scientist, flush with large amounts of credits to be used for his own purposes, one could state that he is beyond the limitations of Galactic Standard, as he is one of those who push the galactic technology standard to new hights with each invention.
    • Religion/Beliefs: The individual believes in the strength of progress through evolution, seeing the mutation as a necessary act to evolve beyond his own humanity. In a sense, this individual is highly anti-religion, finding dogmas and tennets constricting and restraining towards the true purpose of those who have seen the weakness of the galaxy: to evolve, to transcend and to go beyond the limitations of each evolution time and time again. Even death itself is thus viewed as but a mere step in the neverending quest for progress.
    • General behavior: The general behavior remains somewhat in line with the human behaviors the individual had prior, though they may display a much less humane, ruthless and cold nature (something which they already had) with an obsessive tendency to present one as strongly as possible. All standard behavioral patterns and individual behavioral patterns essentially remain the same, though are either heightened to the extreme and may have the added odd behaviors such as avoiding too bright light, violent tendencies and a predatory streak.
  • HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The first mention of a Plaguelord, was when the term had been coined by Doctor Agaris Raskowitz on Schesa in 962 ABY, when the Chancellor of the Left, highest ranking member of the then ruling Zweihander Union, had visited the former N&Z Umbrella scientist for a physical check up and the consequent analysis of the symptoms he seemed to be having after having faced the hordes of Blackwing-infected during the Atrisian Rebellion in his former capacity as Viceroy of Eriadu to the Confederacy of Independant Systems. The Doctor noted how despite the clear presence of a multitude of markers of the Blackwing virus, the subject in question did not seem to be undergoing the rapid degeneration and subsequential 'turn' as others. However, where he did find anomalies that were more concerning, was the fact that upon closer inspection the subject's Blackwing strain was wholly different, mutated into something more potent and something which seemed to have a mind of its own.

The strain didn't seem to randomly multiply, but meticulously changed the subject's DNA and genetic structure through a slow and methodical process never seen before in viruses, as if it had grown a will of its own. While he continued his study of the man who he'd come to know as Credius Nargath, former Marquis of Valkan and at the time Chairman of one of the galaxy's most powerful corporate entities, the Doctor had to acknowledge that further studies would require better insight in the virus and the host's effect onto this strange virus which he dubbed BW-71.

When the Zweihander Union was at the zenith of its power in 763 ABY, Doctor Raskowitz was leading a team of researchers and scientists, having discovered that the
All Purpose Anti Viral Suppressant which Credius Nargath had injected himself with rather frequently after the initial infection by a blackwing afflicted subject, had caused the initial mutation of the Blackwing Virus, coupled with the Chancellor's rather powerful will within the force, it almost looked as if the man had managed to mentally form a link with the mutated virus, creating a sort of mutually beneficial arrangement on both a physical and mental level.

Over the years though, Credius' situation worsened and not much investigation had been done on the limits of this mutation and the link between the man and the virus, thus in the final days of the Zweihander Union, the Chancellor of the Left had moved all operations to The Tomb of C located on The Redoubt, where Credius was placed in stasis within his false gravemonument, allowing the loyal researchers to survive the collapse of the Zweihander Union and even the decline of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation in the hands of Credius' family. They simply continued their studies and their experiments, all the while completely ignoring the Second Great Hyperspace War, the absorbtion of the former Zweihander Union into the Eternal Empire or even the entire galactic collapse afterwards. The Tomb and its inhabitants continued to research the now officially denoted Plaguelord; Credius Nargath.

After decades of stasis, with only a few moments of lucidity outside of the stasis tanks, Credius' most loyal subject finally decided to awaken her master in full. Having grown beyond the limits of his body, beyond even the limits of his mutated powers, the man now selfproclaimed as The Lord of Hunger The Lord of Hunger arose from his Tomb of C and began to reestablish himself within the Galactic darkside. However, the long years of stasis and the long term stays of the man's soul within the Nether and the void had further changed his mutation and his physical self, which due to a strange complication had begun to deteriorate faster and needed more energy and lifeforce to sustain itself.

As such, the sole being considered as a Plaguelord, is now a much more dangerous predator, its mutated virus stronger and more controlling than ever, the hunger bestowed upon its host more insatiable than ever before and in turn the sheer power within the force of this monstrocity has reached new heights.

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Scientific Name: Tenebris Cornu Morbo Iactabantur Superbia, also classified as Darkwing Virus or Blackwing Virus Strain 71 (A,B suffix)
  • Abbreviation: BW-71(A,B suffix)
  • Common Name: Blackwing Superbia or 71
  • Virus Family: Tenebris Cornu Morbo Iactabantur or Blackwing Virus
  • Origins: The origin lies in two places, with the original mutation starting on ATrisia, during the rebellion, with the completion of the mutation resulting on Schesa, within the N&Z labs located there.
  • Other Locations:
    • BW-71: Can only be found within The Lord of Hunger The Lord of Hunger
    • BW-71A: utilized as a building block for the Thanatos Virus, Glimmering Oil and other projects requiring or utilizing the BW-71 strain after exiting the body of Credius Nargath. Storage locations are on Schesa, Eriadu, Lianna, New Alderaan.
    • BW-71B: Utilized as a building block for Mobius Tyranicus and other bio-engineering projects, formed when BW-71 exits the host body through a closed circuit, locations include Bastion, Coruscant, The Redoubt and other locations.
  • Description: The BW-71 strain is a unique sort of virus, having mutated concordingly with its host as a result of the virus bonding with the host's unique lifeforce, their midichlorians and even genetic detail under the duress and influence of the untested All Purpose Anti Viral Suppressant, which when it had been taken in great quantities had managed to grant the virus a sort of basic sentience, aiding it in its desire to consume and replicate. in this semi-sentient status it is capable of being more targeted in the protection of its host and capable of even following mental triggers in response to its host's stress levels and personal mental state. However, as it has a unique status, the BW-71 strain does not translate itself through infection like most other viruses even within its own family and clade. Any indirect infection will result in an inferior strain which would lack at least several of the origin strain's strengths and will be classified as strain BW-71A, which is non-sentient and follows the standard markers of older, less complicated blackwing strains, though it retains the potency in terms of infection rate. However, through direct infection (I.E. through blood transfusion) the strain may incidentily start to partially override its new host/victims genetic material with that of its original host body, effectively creating beings much closer in genetic detail to its host, causing mutations and perhaps even death when incompatible, but those who are extremely compatible may only see their potential in physical prowess and force sensitivity increase in return for mental instability and potential mind control/pressure by the original BW-71 strain's host ( The Lord of Hunger The Lord of Hunger )
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Morphology: The virus resembles a mold at first sight, attaining a tendril-like state which can contract and expand. It will increase and grow exponentially until it can even be visible with the naked eye in large masses similarly shaped like the original base virus, as a mass of tendrils
  • Size: The virus itself meassures somewhere between 10 and 100 nm, depending on the consistensy of the tendril structure and the amount of genetic materials transported through the tendrils, though through clumping together, even the miniscule virus can become visible to the naked eye.
  • Color: Onyx, black and rust color, shade of color depending on amount of genetic material being sluiced through the tendrils.
  • Distinctions: The BW-71 virus is strange in the fact that it is semi-sentient, while it does not have an analytical mind or broad thinking-capacity, it is capable of following mental directions, exerting a base desire and protecting itself and its host through rapid growth and modifications. It is however extremely energy-consuming and while it may seem beneficial to its host, it is wholly focused on its own survival and possible propagation. It has distinct offshoots in the form of BW-71A and BW-71B, both of which are to be considered inferior variants of itself, with BW-71A mainly exhibiting the standard blackwing virus properties, but with greater resistance to environments and medicine, allowing for a much faster infection and propagation. BW-71B at the same time has more in common with the original strain and focuses more on strengthening the host by overwriting their genetic material into that of a suitable host (utilizing the template of what the main strain has deemed the perfect host... AKA The Lord of Hunger The Lord of Hunger )
VIRUS SPECIFICS
  • Source: Officially the virus is a further, unique mutation on the standard Blackwing Virus, originating from an outbreak on atrisia and mutating through the influence of an overdose of anti-viral suppressants.
  • Host Species: Any biological creature from flora, fauna or funghi can be infected and act as a host, though currently the majority of tests have indicated a preference for human and near human creatures for particularly BW-71B.
  • Host Range: Broad (Many Species).
  • Viability: While it can go dormant within extreme cold environments or be outright destroyed by extreme hot environments such as volcanoes and volcanic planets, it is in fact capable of surviving the vacuum of space in all strain variations, though it will prefer moderate environments and ofcourse healthy hosts over these extremes.
  • Lethality: High to Fatal : The outcome of the infection and the lethality depends on the compatibility of the subject, and the means of transfer. BW-71A resembling an extremely resistant base Blackwing-strain is a very dangerous and highly damaging virus which has a mortality rate between 75 and 95%. The BW-71B substrain may be less fatal, with a mortality rate closer to 65-85% but it has lasting effects and may have a higher mortality when the consequences of the virus are clarified.
  • Severity: High Both BW-71A and BW71B result in very painful endresults. BW-71A follows the same path as any standard Blackwing strain, weakening the host through attacking the immune system, systematically rewriting the genetic code and propagating itself without limit, eventually resulting in death either through overworking the body or through fatally low immune system, upon which the body may or may not be resurrected by the virus to act as a carrier/spreader. BW-71B will forcefully rewrite the host's genetic code, which depending on the host's compatibility with the new genetic code may either result in wild mutations which may or may not be lethal or it results in minor physical changes when compatability is extremely high.
  • Infectivity: Extreme
  • Modes of Transmission: This Blackwing strain is not naturally airborne and prefers liquid as its mode of transference, usually bodily fluids or even direct infection through contact with the host.
  • Incubation Period: The incubation depends wholly on the strain subtype. BW-71A will exhibit its first signs and symptoms within a few minutes to a few hours, as it triggers a quick response from the infectee's immune system. BW-71B can take anywhere between several hours to several days as it is more systematic in its approach and does not flood the host's system like BW-71A does.
  • Re-Infection: It can reinfect any who have contracted the virus and any of its strains before (I.E. a survivor of another blackwing strain may still need to remain cautious in contact with BW-71) However, those who have already contracted BW-71A before are less likely to succumb to it in reinfection and may exhibit the characteristics of a carrier, meaning the virus will not flood their system, but may still remain active until it is flushed/removed from the host's system. BW-71B will always be capable of reinfecting, though its activity may be severely lowered in those who have been infected before but have not removed the virus from their system, those that have removed it from their system will essentially be classed as new infectees rather than reinfected.
  • Vaccine/Cure: There are several ways to remove the BW-71A and B strains, among which are forceful expellment with overpowering force aura, though this would be considered very dangerous as it may exhaust the victim to the point where reinfection is nigh inevitable. There are several cures and vaccines against the standard strains of Blackwing on the market, which are not guaranteed to have any effect on the virus, may still slow down the propagation of the virus and allow the bodies to create the standard antibodies to suppress or slow down the virus. Strong anti-viral suppressants may be capable to stall and suppress the virus depending on the dosage, with the most powerful ones capable of flushing it out of a host's system, though usually at great risk as these drugs may be nearly as lethal as the virus itself, especially when used on weakened infectees.

SYMPTOMS & EFFECTS
  • BW-71A
    • Headaches
    • fever
    • hemorhaging
    • jaundice
    • heartburn
    • muscle cramps and spasms
    • shortness of breath
    • DEATH -> Undeath ressurection
  • BW-71B
    • Headaches
    • muscle spasms
    • muscle cramps
    • heavy external bleeding
    • internal bleeding
    • extreme pain and sensitivity to external stimuli
    • bodily contortion and restructuring (when compatibility is below satisfactory level, this stage may result in death)
    • subsiding pain with a feeling of renewed youth and strength.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

Strengths
:
  • May be capable of surviving while its host body is dead for longer than most viruses
  • Has a will of its own
  • Has two substrains upon further infection depending on the method of infection with highly adaptable and modifiable statuses.
  • Capable of forcefully regenerating its host (BW-71)
  • Capable of small structural changes to its host body, such as strengthening muscles and skin to resist blunt impacts better...though only on a limited scale (Base BW-71 only)
  • Strengthens force abilities such as force drain and force heal mainly for the sake of its own energy consumption.
Weaknesses:
  • High energy consumption
  • Low "true" capability rate (BW-71B)
  • Several ways to be suppressed or flushed out of systems.
  • Not airborn
  • Can be destroyed with extreme heat

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
In 862 ABY, a Blackwing Virus outbreak had been orchestrated on Atrisia during a rebellion against the Confederacy of Independant System. As part of a unified relief force, Credius Nargath, then Viceroy of Eriadu and head of House Nargath, brought with him a whole host of his personal guards and a large shipment of untested, yet promising anti-viral suppressants with the goal of observing the virus' progression and the effectiveness of this at the time groundbreaking creation of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation.

Alas when on the ground, the situation worsened, with much of the relief force being cornered, cut off and besieged by Blackwing infectees, so too did many of the viceroy's personal guard fell prey to the virus and eventually, Credius himself as well. In desperation, the Marquis of Valkan and Viceroy of Eriadu injected himself with a massive overdose of the anti-viral suppressant, not knowing of the drawback the drug had when it was used by force sensitive people...and with Credius being someone with a very high force potential and deep connection to the dark side of the force, the results were to say the least: surprising.

The Blackwing Virus he contracted began to mutate due to the dual influence of his own force sensitivity and the massive amounts of anti-viral suppressants flooding his system. While the drug did manage to subdue the virus to a degree, his own force sensitivity bonded the virus to himself on a cellular level and managed to awaken the sentience of the virus itself to a degree, turning the relationship between the virus and its host into a strange, contradictory mutual beneficial one; where the host would be kept alive as long as energy and lifeforce was provided to the virus. The host in turn would become stronger, yet also more ravenous, a much more dangerous being than the human they were prior.

After the defection from the CIS and the foundation of the Zweihander Union, this mutated blackwing strain was researched and studied, leading to various discoveries on how to utilize it and even weaponize it, though this research also showed that the particular parent strain, called BW-71 was unique and could never be fully replicated as no other being seemed to have that same bond with the virus on both a physical and mental level as Credius did, with the substrains coming from any contact with the mutated virus being classed as BW-71A and BW71B.

Though ample research had been done, Credius' condition strangely started to worsen and with the collapse of the Zweihander Union, his physical form and most of his personal staff were relocated to the Tomb of C on The Redoubt where they conducted further research while the main strain and its host were kept in stasis.

In 900 ABY, the former viceroy and former Chancellor of the Left was reawakened from his slumber, having gained a deeper sense of prupose and a stronger connection with the virus within him, having understood that with the virus' mutation, his humanity had gone completely. However, new discoveries were made as well, such as the fact that a combination of both lifeforce and the actual living force were best to satiate the BW_71 strain, with the return to the host being that for some reason retaining their youth and having a technically unlimited force potential were the trade off... as long as the virus would remain satiated...
