Behind Enemy Lines (GR Dominion of Roche)

The Roche Shipyard

It was a simple matter, really. Their backs were to the wall, pressed into a tough position by the continuous press of the Sith assault forces. It was to be expected. Their ability to divine the location of Crina showed that they would do anything to solidify their power over the galaxy. Such was to be expected. It was also why Mason had never liked any Sith. They disgusted him. He'd seen the holo-recordings of what they'd done at Crina. That wasn't order, it was anarchy.

Now, though, with their backs to the wall, they had to make moves. The Sith had just cut off their ability to supply the southeastern half of the Republic. Split in two, anarchy and chaos had befallen much of their territory. Had he been in charge, this would never have happened, but he wasn't in charge, he was only in charge of part of the fleet.

"Status?"

"All systems nominal. Reversion in two minutes."

The plan was simple. Rather than allowing the entirety of the Republic to fall, they would re-establish a connection through uncontrolled space between the Sith and the Mandalorians. They would solidify a military hold over Roche, and restablish connection with the rest of the Republic. Mason was personally looking forward to blasting the Sith out of the sky each chance he got.

"Reversion in 10!"

Outside he watched as the blue-whiteness of hyperspace began to dissipate and elongate into simple pinpricks of stars. Before them was Roche. This should be a simple mission, but last he'd heard the Republic navy had lost contact with the vessels that had been securing the shipyard. An Avenger-class was under construction in the yard, and a contingent of frigates and corvettes that were guarding it had gone silent.
As they reverted from real space he saw why.

"Distress beacon! Coming from the station! They've been boarded by unknown hostiles, and the defensive ships show signs of the same!"

"All ships, shields to maximum. Send a burst back to Admiral Lash and inform him of the situation."

The Revenant, one of the newest ships in the Imperial arsenal, was a bristling Epicurus-class Star Destroyer, built to take and dish a pounding. Accompanying it: 2 Lancer-class Frigates, still some of the best anti-fighter ships. Behind them would be coming the force that would bring their fighter craft to the fray, but they hadn't been expecting any major trouble.

"Sir! The defensive ships are turning on us! Scanners detect shields online and weapons charging! And sir-"

Mason looked at the scanner station.

"The Avenger is online and following suit."

Hmm. That would be interesting, then.

"Push forward. Weapons online. Sound general quarters. Whoever has taken over here is about to learn a lesson the hard way."

Location: Stowed aboard Pirate Ship, Docking at Space Station
Objective: Assault the space station
Allies: Republic, Jedi

There was little to do but meditate within the container that had hidden her this long. Eager to ship their supplies over to the Roche Asteroids as soon as word came in of the Republic's fracturing, they failed to double check the contents of the container properly. The force allowed her to sense their approach, slowly docking into the space station the scum had raided. A slight tilt and a pull indicated her container was being moved, and the feel of solid ground beneath signalled her to awake from her state. She opened her eyes, standing up slowly to face the doors. Chatter outside, muffled through the metal but notably in an outer rim dialect. Some of these men had come far to claim the station, unknowningly it would be their mistake.

The clang of the door unlocking was met with a click from her belt. Lightsaber in hand, connected fully to allow for use as a saberstaff, she prepared for combat. Both hands gripped the hilt, head lowered with slow and steady breaths. A ray of light swept across the wall to her right as one of the doors open, the man doing so turned away to joke with his friend. Once the opening was big enough, she leapt out. With a hiss both blades of her saberstaff came to life, their bright blue light illuminating what darkness remained. One of her blades sliced straight through the pirate opening the door, his lack of attention causing his end. Another man was behind him and in her line of movement, and so his head was seperated from his shoulders by the other blade of her staff.

Now she was out of the container and in a large hangar, she could see just how many pirates there were. Several were positioned high up, with one rushing for a mounted gun, whilst the rest were on the ground with her. Their pistols came out, rather quick due to their expertise, and began firing up her. Her blades flickered up and down with small movements from her wrists, deflecting the incoming bolts back towards their senders. A few came back to bite the pirates, but soon enough the mounted gun began firing. She knew staying in it's line of fire was a bad idea, and so as it unleash a red stream of bolts she flicked her thumb along the button of her saber's hilt. Suddenly it began spinning, both blades creating a circular shield good enough for her to pull back and take cover behind the container she had just come from. The spinning stopped once she was safe, and her hilt slided into two seperate sabers. Pocketing one whilst keeping the other active, she waited until the gunner needed to reload...

Lash

Lash looked over the latest intelligence regarding the situation in the Roche asteroid belt. The Republic losing the planet had gone badly for the Verpine fast. Pirates operating in the Belt had not taken long to take the lack of Republic support to pounce. The Pirates had swiftly overtaken the Stations and defenses of the Roche Facility. Capturing the Verpine's queen and taking the shipyard, this included the massive Avenger-class Destroyer which had been left behind for the Verpin to finish and use in their defense. Before the ship could be brought on line and used to repel the pirate horde it has been captured and now served their malicious will.

Lash looked up at the unfamiliar command deck. Termagant had suffered damages at Balmorra and was now in dry dock for repairs and upgrades. This new Bastion-class Destroyer was far more advanced and formidable than the Imperial Mk III but still Unfamiliar. The engineers from Aurora Industries had stayed aboard to assist with any damage control or system malfunction the ship may have. He had been assured it was battle ready, we would see if that was the case.

Along with the new advanced destroyer Lash had requisitioned the first of the new Evakmar Assault ships which now carried the massive assault force for the operation. In its hull it held forces of the Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, and the Galactic Republic. The joint operation had been rapidly planned and put into motion after hearing of the Verpine Queens capture.

With the massive assault ship Lash had chosen two of the Cardian Defense Fleets Guardian-class frigates to operate as escort for the two larger vessels. The force now sped toward the system. They were to rendezvous with Admiral Deschart and his force once they arrive in system and move on the shipyards and space station. The star lines of the alternate universe of Hyperspace disappeared as the ships of Task Force Bastion exploded into existence in realspace on the edge of the asteroid belt.

"Take us in slowly Captain."

Location: Aboard the Evakmar mk III-class assault ship
Objective: Assault the shipyard
Allies: Republic, Jedi, Empire, Rebel Alliance

General Willam Forlon stood on the central flight deck of the massive Evakmar MK III-class assault ship. Looking out at the stars and asteroids out in the distance through the shield that kept the internal hanger safe from the cold vacuum of space. It had always amazed him how something unseen could be so powerful. The call for the 222nd rapid response Corps forces deployed on this mission to load the transports came and Willam walked to the drop ship and looked around to make sure his people were loading.

"Lets get going you lazy sobs. Move it! get these bricks loaded and hit that shipyard!.

The men and women of the 222nd ran around grabbing packs and weapons and loaded the Maat gunships ready to carry them to the shipyard. Willam watched as the last of his team loaded the gunships and stepped up onto the deck of the lead ship. The doors slide shut and the transports engines shook the deck beneath his feet as it lifter off and and speed out of the central hangers open top and speed towards the shipyards in the distance.

Also on the Evakmar were a contingent of Echani specialists. They were equipped with their standard fare of weapons, including energy swords, and were supplemented by a dozen EMBU's. They weren't a huge fighting force, but they were equipped to hit a small target swiftly and quietly. In this case, they could sneak onto the space station without anyone really knowing that they were doing so. As far as she was concerned, the plan was to make whatever enemy had taken Roche think they were more interested in the shipyard.

Without a word, she motioned with a single hand to one single drop ship, and the contingent of specialists and EMBU's mounted up. She paused at the door to give anyone that might be joining them a chance to climb aboard. Who knew, they might have friends come along with them. If they were lucky. If not, well, they'd be able to take down whoever was inside, she was certain of it. Even if it was a bunch of filthy Mandalorians!

Kaidan sat quietly in one of the room, Evakmar was a big ship... And this was a long journey, for him at least, he begun to equip his armor piece by piece. For whoever didn't know him, it was rather hard to understand him... Was he a jedi? Was he a sith? He was neither but had things in common with both, which makes him ask himself... who was he? But that didn't matter now, it never matters...
He placed his helmet upon his head and put on his hood. Kaidan left the room and walked rather fast with his head raised as if he would be a soldier, a creepy one, yet one thing he liked was that nobody could ever know what was hiding inside his mask, what emotions he had, what secrets he kept... The people he killed.

Spaarti Creations commando squads were some of the best warriors the galaxy had to offer, and at the moment they had been purchased by the republic prime minister along with a couple million of their brothers and sisters to supplement and possibly become the new Galactic Republic military. After the loss of Contruum the republic military was in disarray and panic, but as most didn't know yet the clones were here to help. So with a few republic drop ships coming out of orbit it was time for republic commando squads to move in and take out the enemy.

"Station defenses are up sir! We can't fly you in with this kind of flak!" A mantis clone pilot said back to the commander of the operation.

"Seal the cabin and pull a U and sling shot us!!" Lusk said as piece of laser flak went off besides the ship rocking it as it got closer to the station.

"Aye sir!" The pilot said as their compartment closed up.

The ship's back end opened up quickly as the ship made a hard turn causing a commando team of ten to rocket towards the space station in s fumble of turning bodies and vertigo.

"Adjust and hit your packs!!" Lusk said as he tumbled through space.

Hitting the right angle the clone straightened himself out and activated his jump pack along with his other brothers and sisters. Now flying in a straight line towards the rocky space station Lusk and his two fire teams soared forward.

"Aim for the Ray shield hanger!" he yelled on his comms.

The clone commandos lined up into two v wings and soared straight into the pirate filled hanger that was scrambling to get fighters out to attack the fleet. With gravity taking over the clones hit the ground and skid forward on their backs causing sparks to fly from metal grinding metal.

"WASTE'EM!!" Lusk yelled as his pulse rifle sparked to life.

Using their momentum the clones fired their rifles at the enemy as the pushed along and came to a grind halt behind them. Standing up the commandos rounds could probably be heard by [member="Minna"] in the room over's docking bay.

The republic was entering a dark and uncertain time....it seemed that hope of winning the war was thin

However the pubs had a plan to retreat back and build up while living its wounds

Stardust was setting in the hangar waiting for her to get her order to attack....of course she probably wouldn't be able to use her ship rather she'd get in and land with a landing party

She spotted [member="Kaidan Hawk"] and stood up smiling... Ever since she met him she'd been helping him as much as possible find out who he was...and this was probably their first time going into battle together"you ready kaidan?

Location: Approaching the space station
Objective 2: Assault the space station
Allies: [member="Janira Fenni"]
Enemies: Pirates

The Lieutenant's orders were relatively simple. Cause enough mayhem to allow a small force commanded by [member="Janira Fenni"] to enter the station unopposed. Jaccer's plan to do this was even more simple; break into the station guns blazing. Over his military career he had come to find that the simplest strategies often worked the best.

So here he was, aboard a dropship set to infiltrate the space station that lie ahead of them. Even though he was an officer, Jaccer had decided to join his fellow soldiers on this mission into the heart of the pirate's presence at Roche. The various ships that the soldier were loaded on were just out of range of any defences that the station had, for now they were safe. Various attacks on the other hangars had already started, this would undoubtedly draw most of the exterior weaponry fire to them when Jaccer would launch his attack. It would be challenge to get to the station alive let alone unharmed. They would require a lot of skill... or luck.

"This is Lieutenant Ramirez, in position and ready to attack. Notify me when the mission is a go." The comm link was linked up to Janira and her team currently aboard another dropship, destined for a different destination. Hopefully, once inside herself and her crew could cause havoc from behind the enemy and maybe even assist Jaccer with the opposition he was certainly encounter.

Lash

Stela'shlit'nuruodo
Location: Roche system
Objective: Engage Pirate Fleet
Allies: [member="Mason Deschart"]
Enemies: Pirate Fleet

Lash looked out the forward view port of the sunken command structure. The Bastion , based on the old Pellaeon-class was a much different ship from Termagant and the Imperial line of ships in general. Not many Pellaeon-class ships were left and to this point Lash had never been aboard one or any variant of one. It was much more advanced and compact in its design making room for a far superior firepower. The engineers at Aurora Industries were very good at their jobs. Lash would remember this for future projects he had planned.

In the distance Lash saw the form of the shipyard laying in among a group of large asteroids. The Belt was one of the most stable in the galaxy and moving into position would not be as hazardous as traversing many of the other asteroid belts in the galaxy. As the Bastion slowly moved in Lash began to see smaller shapes moving against the backdrop of the shipyard and the station further off in the belt.

"Tactical, begin acquisition and plot solutions on everything out there. Assume it has all been requisitioned by these filthy aliens."

Lash knew little about these pirates but knew none were Chiss and that meant they were all inferior and did not matter. Lash looked down at his chairs vid display at the message Admiral Deschart had sent. The initial telemetry did in fact show the Avenger-class destroyer was operational and moving out of the shipyards to engage. This made things far more interesting.

"Tactical, report!" Lash shouted as his patience with the Chiss officers manning the station grew thin.

"Sir we have twelve contacts not counting out forces and that of Admiral Deschart. One destroyer, three frigates, and eight corvette classes. Sensors show fighters launching from the yard and the station sir."

Lash sit back and thought about the situation. The ships in the distance would cause problems for the assault forces now launching. They need cover and a distraction.

"Coms, Let Captain Kinston know he can move in. We will open him a hole." Lash said to the three Chiss officers manning the communications stations. They transmitted the order to the commander of the Evakmar then returned to monitoring the coms and communication with the force commanders.

Lash waited for a moment and looked out at the pirates. They had moved in and taken advantage of the Republics weakness. This was not acceptable. Lash was not a fan of the Republic. He had to work with them for now but that would not always be the case. But as it was currently they were his allies and therefore he would defend them like they were his phalanx.

"Tactical, Bring all long range batteries online and fire in line with the course of the assault ship. Fire for effect rapid fire wide spread. Lets thing the water for them."

A moment later the long range weapons of the Bastion came online and licked out at space in the distance presenting a wall of fire in front of the Evackmar-mk III assault ship moving in and launching its assault forces. Beside it the two frigates moved into position flanking the assault ship providing their own firepower to the mix as the three ships moved off towards the stations faster than the Bastion could muster.

"Commander Launch your wing, Have them provide protection for the assault force. Once they are deployed have the provide interdiction for fleet and engage as needed."

The Chiss commander nodded and turned to the fighter operations console and sent the word to the hanger. Like a flock of bats the fighters swooped out of the cavernous hanger of Bastion and speed off to take up position with the assault force now speeding towards the pirate force and the Verpin facilities. In the distance Lash could make out the massive form of the captured destroyer not moving out of the slipway and turning to engage the Imperial fleet.

"Com, Get me Admiral Deschart on the line." The officer nodded and a small image of the old human appeared on Lash's display.

"Admiral, I will engage the frigates and corvettes and let your force deal with he destroyer. My fighters will offer support once the assault forces have landed. Good hunting admiral."

The Sochi Ru glided along the Republic forces, powered by it's impulse engines. Sat at the helm of the fighter was Jedi Knight Ella Nova. To preserve the Galactic Republic, was now the duty of the Jedi Order. They could not fail.

"Arsix, how are we doing buddy?"

Waabapaido!

"Okay. It might get a little rocky."

Ahead, the pirate forces that had stormed the Roche Shipyards were making their stand. Dog fights would ensue between the Republic and each sides starfighter compliments. It was time to take control of her mission.

"All wings, report in."

Location: Roche System
Objective: Take Out Pirate Fleet
Allies: [member="Lash"]
Enemies: Pirates

"Admiral Lash's forces have arrived, sir."

"Status report?"

"Enemy fighters are launching, but the main enemy ships appear to be sticking close to the yard and station."

So, they were going to play it that way. As soon as the Revenant was in range of their guns they'd start firing in the hopes of taking her down before she could do much. Smart, but stupid against an Epicurus-class which was built to bull right into an enemy formation and take the fight to them. The long range crap wasn't going to work on her. Still, they'd have to provide protection for the Lancer's, or they'd get eaten up, which meant they'd be vulnerable to the fighters for a while. Thank goodness for redundant shielding. The Mon Cal's might be squid heads, but they were smart.

"Incoming transmission from Admiral Lash."

"Put it through."

"Admiral, I will engage the frigates and corvettes and let your force deal with he destroyer. My fighters will offer support once the assault forces have landed. Good hunting admiral."

"The Revenant will focus on that Avenger, then. I'll keep my lancers for fighter support until yours neutralize the threat. Deschart out."

The communications line was cut and Mason motioned his head towards the enemy Avenger.

"She was going to be a friendly but now she isn't. We're going to show everyone just what the Revenant can do. Order the Ballast and Tarkin back behind us, one above and below. They are to remain there even if we take hits from the fighters. Shields at maximum, but hold fire and do not fire a single shot at any ship but the Avenger."

They would take hits, which they now were as they pushed forward, but Mason was well aware that his ship could handle a bunch of hits until it got in tight on the Avenger. Fingers tapped lightly against his left wrist as he held his hands behind his back. The one downside to this battle method was that it took a while for them to get into position. Normally it wouldn't be an issue as he would come in with a flotilla of the new vessels, but they weren't ready yet, so he had to do things the hard way.

"Forward shields taking hits but holding steady."

"Maintain full forward thrust."

"The Avenger is firing on us."

"As I said, maintain full forward thrust. When we get close it won't be firing for long."

Nobody seemed to be directly joining them so she loaded up into the craft and gave the all clear to the pilot. They launched and started making a sweep around the asteroids, heading for the station rather than the yard. The goal was to sweep in unnoticed while the pirates were focused on the mainline force. They would then slip in silently and take down the pirates that were holding the queen, and free her so that she could take back control of her station.

The comms crackled in her ear, indicating that their distraction was in order. She looked at the pilot.

"1 mic."

She nodded and hit the comm.

"Go for the party."

Jaccer would start things off, they'd finish them. About time for the battle, and she felt as cold as ice. One quick glance at her people, and she knew they were as ready as she was.

Location: Aboard transport gunship inbound for shipyard.
Objective: Assault the shipyard
Allies: Republic, Jedi, Empire, Rebel Alliance

Forlon grabbed the handle he has been holding tight as the dropship shook and tilted to the left avoiding incoming fire. The 222nd speed off towards the shipyards escorted by a flight of fighters from the Bastion. Behind them in the distance the assault ship and its escorts moved into range to engage the corvettes now firing on them. Behind them the pirate frigates took up position guarding the massive destroyer now moving away from the shipyard. The Dropship shook as flak batteries began pounding the space around the dropships. A red light lit up on the hull over the door letting Forlon and his troops that they would be landing in thirty seconds. The time passed by so slow. The men and women of the 222nd were poised and ready to do the job given them. Take the Shipyard. It was a simple order and one they were well prepared to do.

The dropship shook again as heavier flak pounded space around the MAAT S90 gunship. It would be any second now and he ans his men would be on the clock. It was time for him to say something motivational.

"Alright, pick your targets and drop them. No hesitation. We will mop up the bodies later and deal with the repercussions. Kill everything in front of you with a gun. Wound anything without one."

The gunship slammed down on one of the shipyards many hangers and the doors shot open with a bolt. IN the distance pirates, mercs and what seemed like some sort of droids opened fire on them. Forlon jumped out of the transport and brought his gun up and fired on a group of combatants taking up cover Behind a stack of crates.

"Cover fire!" Forlon pointed as a row of crates stacked on one side of the hanger. "Set up there!" Behind him two troopers grabbed the large blaster cannon and ran to deploy it behind the cover of the crates. Around him his people spread out finding what cover they could and returning fire. One man fell as he attempted to make hi way to a forward crate. There would be time to deal with the dead and wounded later. Now was not that time. Now was the time to advance and take back what was rightfully theirs.

Ali fingered the trigger on her Verpine Assault Rifle. The weapon was a comfort to her, knowing the extensive nature of its capabilities. It was the ultimate small arms weapon, incredibly modular and adaptive to any environment. The whole platoon was equipped with them, soldiers of Ali's own, recruited from the top lauds of their leaders. She thought back to her decision on Mandalore to join forces with Alena Reckar and establish their own non-government sentientarian force. Suddenly she wondered if these soldiers would make good first recruits. They all scored top marks in marksmenship and displayed a concrete knowledge of the tactical and combative skills within their realm and beyond. More importantly, however, they were critical thinkers, intelligent, self-motivated and objective-oriented. They were true commandos, the kind that were born and honed to a knife's edge of efficiency, not the kind that were made.
Ali's thoughts were turned inextricably toward Lusk and his Spaarti creations. She'd always hated the idea of clone labor, particularly the soldiering kind. It wasn't the idea of cloning itself she disliked so much, it was akin to natural reproduction in the sense that naturally-born offspring have no choice in their existence. However, natural offspring typically weren't forced into living lives of warfare; a sentiment the general population and the government itself had seen fit to withhold in relation to cloning.

Turning her thoughts back to the task at hand, Ali watched her commandos complete their PCC's and begin loading their gear onto the larty. They were a single platoon, 30 commandos, tasked with retaking three key sectors of the space station so that other elements could sneak aboard and secure the Verpine Queen. As the last of the gear was loaded, Ali followed her commandos on board, then slapped the button for the doors and heard them hiss closed behind her. She shook bare fingers through her hair, evening it out before pulling her helmet onto her head. It sealed with a click.
::Alright folks, listen up.:: Ali began her final brief by activating the holoprojector in her helmet, displaying an overview of the station. It had been built into one of the larger asteroids in the belt, and was large enough for Ali to suspect the pirates would have secure only small portions of it. ::This is our objective...map orientation puts the bulk of the asteroid North; South is towards the station superstructure, East and West are it's further reaches. We're to secure the space station in order to facilitate the rescue of the Verpine Queen. We'll be deploying in squads, attacking three different control areas highlighted here and here. Drop zones are maintenance hatches located on the dorsal side of the structures. Each site puts you about two-hundred meters away from your objective. We would have gotten closer, but each site has weapon emplacements and we're not sure who controls what yet. First Squad, you're taking Logistics, Second, Administrative. Third and Fourth, you're with me, we're assaulting the Security Sector; that's bound to be one of the first places the pirates took. Third and Fourth will be dropping in together, then splitting up to assault the sector from the North and East sides. Any questions?:: The Commandos shook their heads and Ali nodded in acknowledgment. ::Simple objective, let's get in and get it done. Pilot, take us out.::

With the Pirates having to shift positions the clones quickly split into two fire teams, one covering the rear and Lusk with his forward fire team to take out the incoming pirates. The clones with their position set behind various crates the commandos kept their rifles blazing and opening fire on the enemy.

"Concentrate fire on the pilots! Don't let them get airborne!" Lusk said as he gunned down a pirate.

"Cover me!!" Popping in a fresh magazine the clone activated his ray shield and bounded over his crate.

Upon hitting the durasteel deck with his boots the clone aimed his rifle at pirates whose blaster bolts bounced or absorbed off his shield. Lining up targets he pressed forward letting his rifle rip into the space goons dropping then to the floor with exit holes riddled through their bodies.

Grabbing his grenades the clone let his rifle sling down as he threw the armed explosives into the cockpits of fighters within the hanger. They weren't going anywhere.

The Vindication, a Legacy-class Heavy Cruiser, entered the system on a test flight. Originally a vessel destined for purchase by the Omega Protectorate, its dissolution and collapse meant that Emeritus was saddled with it until it could be sold. For now, the vessel would serve its purpose, launching a swarm of Eightgun-class fighters that would head towards the pirate fleet. Following them were a minimalist number of powerful Detritus-class bombers, their ordnance bays loaded with more than enough proton bombs to shatter the pirate flagship into pieces. Though the design had admittedly aged, it was still one of the most powerful bombers in the galaxy.

"This is the Emeritus heavy cruiser Vindication. We are performing... weapon testing here. Any Republic ships should make themselves known to our IFF system."

In reality, they already knew what ships were Republic and what ships weren't - it was just a little psychological work.

::Copy that, Commander.:: Ali felt the vehicle shiver beneath her booted feet; Lusk would already be on his way, Ali was sure of it. She pulled up her HUD as the Larty slipped out of the Reverant's hangar and cut toward the shipyard. This Larty was specially outfitted for covert insertions and extractions. A black, sensor-absorbing paint job and electronic dampening pads prevented their appearance on the shipyard's sensors. It only took a few minutes before they were slipping toward the first insertion site. The gunship lowered itself to within a meter of the structure's outer hull and First Squad climbed out into zero-gravity. Once they were out and working on getting the hatch opened, the gunship pressed onward, deploying Ali with Third and Fourth Squads before continuing to drop off Second.

Ali watched the gunship drift away for a moment as Geft began working on opening the hatch. There was little light by which to see in the space outside the shipyard, though Ali maintained a watchful eye. ::I'm in.:: Geft reported as the hatch popped open with a siss. One by one the commandos climbed down into the airlock, Ali sealed it behind her. Geft activated the pressurization process and, once complete, the inner hatch popped open. Geft gently pressed it open fully with his rifle supported by his free hand; Vitor lifted his own and walked swiftly outside and the rest of them followed one by one.
Ali was last out, securing the hatch behind Geft and shutting it, then stood aside and took in her surroundings. This portion of the shipyard was dimly lit; half the glowpanels were shut off. Beams of light shone here and there down the length of the corridor, which was larger than Ali expected it to be. Two rows of rooms fit on either side of the tunnel-shaped structure; the corridor ran down the middle for the most part, sometimes deviating to the left or right side of the station to allow for turbolifts and staircases to lead to the lower levels.
Ali checked her HUD for their location and glanced left, then right down the corridor. ::Head West.:: She ordered. ::There's a cross-corridor roughly a hundred meters out that loops around to the North side of the Security Sector.:: The two squads picked up from the security positions they'd taken and began moving down the corridor in a column, staggered off of one another. The going was somewhat slower than Ali would have liked; they were having to clear rooms for hostiles as they passed. Some fifty meters down the corridor opened into a large operations station that controlled the various support functions of that portion of the station. Two of Ali's number secured the chamber at the far side, two more the way they'd come. As Ali looked over the various consoles and control panels, Tresler stepped up to her side. ::We could cut a bunch of time if we killed life support in Security.:: Ali shook her head, ::That's a good idea, but we don't know if there are any friendlies in the area. The pirates could have taken prisoners.:: Tresler nodded, ::That would explain the lack of bodies so far.:: He shrugged. ::We could at least kill all the operational lights and shut down the local defenses.:: Ali gestured with a gauntleted hand. ::See it done.:: She told Tresler, who silently obeyed. It wasn't long before the lights down the far end of the corridor began shutting off one at a time, their glowpanels dimming before blacking out entirely. Following that, Tresler tackled the security systems between their location and the Security hub, shutting down autoturrets and surveillance holocams. He flashed her a thumbs-up when he was finished. ::We're all set, Commander.:: Ali nodded, giving orders to move out.

Roche Asteroid system
Objective: Test and deal with pirates
Post 1/20

Taeli sighed as she looked at the blue expense of hyperspace. Things weren't looking good, but they needed to salvage what they could of the Republic. With Contruum lost, the Republic had been mostly shattered, but desperation had a habit of awakening an inner fire.

It would remain to be seen if that fire would ignite, but she would do her best to keep it going. That was why she had loaned the first Bastion-class Star Destroyer to the Imperial navy for this operation and she was bringing the second. Her crew was a mix of Republic naval personnel and Aurora Industries technicians, but they weren't alone either.

A full fleet of Aurora ships was coming, and they would do their duty.

"Reversion in three ... two .... one"

The blue tunnel collapsed and the Bastion with its accompanying fleet of three Sentinel frigates and two PulseFlare cannon cruisers reverted into real space on the edge of the asteroids the Verpine called home. She could see the other Bastion and the Imperial fleet was already engaged.

"Helm, take us in and have weapons ready," Taeli ordered.

"Yes, Master Raaf."

::Hold. Hostiles ahead.:: Ali heard Geft's voice in her head, and she immediately paused and dropped to a knee behind a durasteel crate that rested against the wall. The corridor was pitch black, requiring the use of NVG filters, giving Ali and her platoon the advantage over the pirates. ::There's five of them. Two Humans, three Weequays. Range, forty meters.:: Ali caught sight of the targets as markers for them appeared on her real-time HUD. She designated Geft, Vitor, Funke and Astor, leaving the last for herself as she lifted her Verpine AR and tucked the stock into the slight dip in her shoulder armor that was designed to cradle a weapon. Her HUD flickered as her scope's view replaced a large circular portion of the right side of her screen, magnifying her target. Her thumb brushed the action selector and it fell on "Paired." ::They're lightly armored, go for center mass. Fire on my mark. Three, two, one...mark.:: Ali squeezed the trigger gently, feeling the weapon shiver and hearing it click twice quietly as it loosed a pair of rounds into the chest of one of the Humans. The other weapons fired just a split second behind her, dropping the other four. Their targets fell quietly, though not silently. One of them lay about grunting and clutching at his wounded chest. Astor dispatched him with his wrist-blade.
