STRENGTHS

Fast and Maneuverable: Designed with rotating wings and vectored jets, the Gauntlet, while being a larger vessel is just as agile as many much smaller fighters and is blistering fast in both atmosphere and realspace. Internal dampeners and mitigation systems allow the airframe to withstand the stresses of tight and drastic maneuvers and high g acceleration. Its 0.5 hyperspace speed is also extremely fast.

Low Detectability: The Be'alor Me'sen does not have stealth capability but its electronic dampeners and engine exhaust baffles reduce the sensor detectability signature of this vessel making it harder to detect at range. This gives it a degree of flexibility when attempting to travel unobtrusively through hostile territory and when on sensitive missions. Conversely, it also has a powerful transponder beacon that can, when desired, clearly announce the ship as an official diplomatic vessel fully under the protection of the Mandalorian Empire when discretion is not needed.


WEAKNESSES

Larger Than a Starfighter: The Gauntlet is larger than most starfighters being roughly twice as long as an ARC-170 making it easier target to hit if it found itself in a dogfight. Additionally, the size of the craft and the design of the articulating wings also increase the logistical footprint of the vessel such that when embarked on a larger vessel it's maintenance and space needs reduce it to a single unit squadron.

Rotating Wings: Being able to independently tilt the wings vertically and horizontally as well as rotate them around the circumference of the main hull is a testament to Mandalorian innovativeness but it is by its nature a complicated piece of engineering susceptible to combat damage and increases maintenance. Significant damage to the wings structural components can render the vessel incapable of articulating its wings which could significantly reduce the maneuverability of the craft.

Weak Rear Defensive Coverage: With but a single rearward firing cannon the vessels rear is weakly defended from pursuing hostile craft and if outnumbered its lack of rearward firepower can place it at a distinct disadvantage in a sustained dogfight.

Decreased Utility: With a maximum cargo capacity of 6 tons the Be'alor Me'sen can no longer be considered a cargo transport and its overall passenger capacity has also been sacrificed. It is adequately armed but here again not overly so. Its modularity and tactical flexibility have been subordinated and optimized to act as a platform for a single high value individual and support staff.

Not Designed for Combat: Although adequately armed and well shielded the Be'alor Me'sen is not designed for sustained combat as its combat capabilities are more for defense rather than offence. Its abilities are tuned allow the vessel provide an offensive deterrence ability while being able to shrug off and withstand incoming fire enabling the vessel to survive attacks long enough to use its speed to disengage.

Requires Constant Maintenance: The articulating wing system, advanced systems and complicated hyperdrive system require constant maintenance. When traveling between major worlds with abundant infrastructure this is not much of a problem but being required to operate for extended periods in low infrastructure environment could cause some maintenance issues and a degradation in systems abilities.


DESCRIPTION

The Be'alom-Kom'rk (Leaders Gauntlet) Class Aviso, colloquially called the Be'alor Me'sen (Leaders Ship) is a semi-unique production run of nine craft customized from the Gauntlet Mark III Fighter-Transport Class built by Mando-De'Loren Multi Atmospherics for use as an official personal transport for senior Mandalorian officials.

Like its siblings the Kom'rk Combat-Transport and Gauntlet MKIII Fighter Transport, the basic design has been modernized and improved to bring its systems up to current standards, its features are optimized for its specific role and its capabilities fine-tuned to meet the needs of a fast, comfortable, capable run about that would fit the personal and professional requirements of senior Mandalorian commanders and officials.

The ships hyperdrive, a state of the art 0.5 NZ OS-HD3 Hyperdrive System which is tuned and augmented to the needs of each specific ship, the integrated RMD-9F Anhur Droid Brain and the advanced 'Ori'karbakar' Advanced Hyperdrive-Navicomputer provides superb hyperdrive speeds and the Baffled Haal'miit Ion-Atmospheric Hybrid Drive engines allow quick acceleration and high realspace speeds make this craft blistering fast and able to outrun most ships in the galaxy. The speeds the Be'alor Me'sen is capable of allow the vessel and its occupants to travel quickly and safely to any point in the galaxy increasing tactical and strategic effectiveness.

The drop bay feature of the other Kom'rk classes have been removed as the space has been fully framed, plated and fitted out to provide VIP accommodation for one primary guest (or two if they are willing to snuggle). The primary stateroom contains a sleeping alcove with a spacious bed, an ensuite refresher and a custom executive desk/workstation looking over a combination lounge/meeting/dining area. The stateroom on each vessel is custom designed in the style chosen by the principle. Moving aft from the VIP stateroom there is a bunk room for four personnel and a comms/engineering room on either side of a central corridor which leads a common lounge/dining/galley area and rearmost a common refresher, ladder to the bridge deck, a small cargo area and access to the rear ramp. The bridge deck contains the cockpit, comms and sensor stations, and a bunk room and refresher for the crew. In a pinch the ship could temporarily accommodate up to six more passengers for short journeys in seating in the lounge area. Although even with designated crew and passenger accommodations, which are quite comfortable if not overly spacious, the vessel is designed for shorter trips lasting only a few days rather than long sustained voyages. For simple journeys the Be'alor Me'sen can be operated by a single pilot so the principle has the option fly Unaccompanied if so desired.

The purpose of the Be'alor Me'sen is to carry an important passenger and his/her/its support staff quickly, securely and in a style befitting to the principle's status to whatever location they might wish.
