Babysitting Blues (Laina)

[member="Laina Silvias"]

"I am not squeamish at all," Siobhan insisted, sounding a bit exasperated. "Insubordination wherever I look!"

"Truly. I'm sure you can make us bend to you and put us in our place. Just...away from the baby." Eileithya just had to join in the trolling. Fortunately, at this point Harmony arrived to pick up little Morrigan.

"Here I am, Lady Mistress. Don't worry, you will not have to soil yourself and do something as base as changing diapers. I am your humble slave and shall carry these foul odours away from your sensitive nose." The trolling was reaching stratospheric levels.

"Yes, yes, you'll get a raise. Now go off and change and clean her." Obediently Harmony did as was commanded. Siobhan glanced over to Aella and nodded. "Yeah, there'll be extra guards. I've called Sergeant Solveig to help out. She's in charge of my personal squad. I can take you to your room."

Aella shook her head, "Mmmhmm... Not at all." And baby Morrigan was soon whisked away for loving care by Harmony.

The amazon nodded, "I just wanted to be sure. Laina would have a fit otherwise, if I left her baby with anything but the best."

"That'd be great." With that she let Sio lead her to her room, where she quickly fell asleep. When morning came, we'd return to Laina with a certain redhead snuggled against her.

Elpsis' slumber had been unusually peaceful. With some weird dreams thrown in. Some had been nice, one thoroughly unpleasant. At least she hadn't got any ear-splitting vision that gave her headaches from hell.

Slowly she stirred inside the bed. The covers were so soft and the first rays of bright sunlight fell through the curtains that were draped across the windows. It looked like a lovely day. The creature comforts still felt foreign to her. It took her a moment to realise that she was not alone, but had a companion in bed. Then the yesterday's events came flashing back to her and she relaxed, snuggling against Laina.

The darkhaired amazon made her feel safe. She knitted her brow as her thoughts drifted back to her mother. It had only been two days since Elpsis had sent the message, but she still felt anxious. Irrational? Yep, but then she was a teenager.

Maybe she'd waited too long, driven her mother away and now would have to live with that. The thought of actually meeting her filled Elpsis with trepidation. She sighed and banished these thoughts from her mind. "Hey, you. Slept well?" she asked quietly, kissing Laina on the cheek.

Laina stirred and woke slowly. The night hadn't exactly been kind to her. Her sleep had been restless, fitful and fleeting. She kept waking up, only to fall back asleep again and again. She glanced to Elpsis and shook her head, "Not really. Not a lot I can do about that really. Just hard to really get to sleep and stay there. I'll be fine though. Don't worry about me."

Aella was off in her own room, still sound asleep. And no doubt Morrigan had tormented Eileithya and Harmony on and off for much of the night, in a way only babies are capable of doing.

Slowly Laina slipped from the bed, looking to find something fresh to wear for the day so she could have a chance to shower. She glanced back to the young woman. "Sorry dear, I'm not much in the mood to cuddle this morning. Tiredness, I suppose. Any other time, I wouldn't mind laying in bed with you. I just want to check on my little girl, make sure she's okay." It had been the first night she'd slept apart from Morri since the little one was born. She was still hyper protective of the girl even now. It had been the very reason she didn't want to go off and sleep in the first place. She wanted to watch over her girl after the horrible events of the day before.

Elpsis seemed to understand and withdrew from Laina without sulking. "Ok. No problem. Let's go check on her. Hope Morri got some rest," she said and got up from the bed. The redhead gave Laina a slightly concerned look. Perhaps she sensed the amazon's tiredness, but then she chose not to press the issue. She'd slept in wearing her old clothes, which obviously wouldn't do anymore since they weren't clean after all the excitement the day before, so she discarded them without any misplaced modesty and went looking for something fresh.

Finding a pair of jeans and a tank top that seemed to fit her well enough, she headed for the shower to wash off the dirt, sweat and dust from yesterday. On the bright side, she was able to walk unaided now, though she was still quite careful about it.

"I hope so too. Thankfully she's young enough to not remember what happened last night." She said quietly. "You go ahead and shower. I'm going to check in on her now. Then I'll worry about that." While Elpsis showered, Laina headed straight to find her little baby girl to see how she was. Her own concerns rested there and she wouldn't be able to focus on much else.

While Laina headed off to check up on her baby girl, Elpsis hit the showers. It gave her a moment or two to gather her thoughts. Besides, she really needed the shower, since she wasn't exactly clean at the moment!

Regardless, watery goodness kissed her skin. It was so very warm and heavenly, washing away the accumulated sweat, dirt and dust. However, though it was tempting to induldge herself, she kept the shower quite brief. Best not to have Kerrigan complain about the teenager using up all the warm water. Stepping outside and quickly drying herself off with a towel, she blinked when she took in the room.

Seriously, how many cosmetic products had Kerrigan crammed into it? It all seemed...excessive to her. She wasn't a fancy perfumes type girl. Likewise she stayed away from the fancier lotions. Anyhow, she quickly finished freshening up, then got dressed swiftly. She didn't want to keep Laina waiting and felt a bit bad about already doing so. So then she immediately proceeded to Morrigan's room. Well, there were lots of rooms on this floor alone! Seriously, how many people lived here?

"Uh, excuse me, are you looking for someone? Should I call the Lady Mistress?" Elpsis turned on her heels when she heard a soft, slightly uncertain voice call her. Turning around she faced a gourgeous blonde dressed in a maiden outfit. Well, normally maidens wore skirts that showed a lot less skin. "Sorry for not introducing myself. I'm Hestia," the servant said.

"Right, no problem. Nice to meet ya," Elpsis responded, trying not to make it obvious that her eyes had lingered on the woman's cleavage for a bit longer than appropriate. In her defence, the servant's outfit had quite a cleavage window! Seeing where Elpsis' eyes had been, Hestia blushed. "No, no need to call...the Lady. Just lookin' for the baby's room. Morrigan, she's Laina's kid. You know where her room is?"

Recognition dawned upon Hestia's face and she nodded. "Oh, the amazon girl! She was a bit of a handful last night. Took her long to fall asleep. Not that I can blame her. Poor thing's been through a lot. I'm happy the Lady Mistress took them in." Any time Hestia mentioned the Lady, there was a look of pure adoration on her face.

"Yeah, it was," Elpsis agreed. "Can you take me to her room? Wanna see she's ok."

"Sure," Hestia took Elpsis by the hand and led her towards Morrigan's room with the unerring precision of a navigator. "You're that Elpsis girl, right?" The 'Elpsis girl' nodded. "The Lady mentioned you. She doesn't hate you, you know. I know she can be...heavy-handed sometimes. But she's the kindest, sweetest woman I've ever met." Elpsis wasn't sure how to respond to that. Out of all the servants in the villa, she had to run into Kerrigan's Number One Fangirl.

"Err, yeah. I'm here cause of Laina. Tryin' to get my life on track, rebuild bridges and stuff," she shrugged.

Hestia patted her on the shoulder, looking understanding. "I know exactly what that's like. I was lost before she..."

Elpsis felt like facepalmning. God, shoot me now before she starts yammering about how great the 'Lady Mistress' is. Clearly being forced to listen to a Kerrigan fangirl regale her with tales about the magnificient Lady was the best punishment! Fortunately for Elpsis, she'd be in Morrigan's room in the next post! It had a very nice crib and plenty of baby stuff.

Laina had found her way to Morrigan's room and was holding her little girl. She'd taken a seat in a rocking chair and held the girl close, to reassure herself that her baby was perfectly fine and happy, even as she dozed now.

It was a great relief to her to see the tiny one, to be near to her and feel the child's heartbeat. All things that told her it was fine, nothing had happened. And she needed to fear nothing. There was nothing else to do really, save get ready for the day. What kind of day? Laina really had no idea what was in store.

Laina only glanced up to see Elpsis and Hestia enter. "Hello ladies." She said quietly, seeming a bit less stressed now. "She's sleeping. Which is fine. I just wanted to see her, hold her." She sighed, knowing she might be just a wee bit too protective at this point. Sure last night would frighten anyone, but there were plenty of guards, and plenty of qualified people to help her and the baby. She didn't have to do everything but right now Laina didn't like Morrigan being out of her sight.

Hestia seemed to be a bit nervous upon coming into the presence of the amazon mama bear. "Uh, hello, mistress," she said a bit awkwardly. "Breakfast is ready soon. The Lady Mistress will be awake later." This was a polite way of saying that Siobhan tended to be comatose till it was almost noon. "I'm glad Morrigan got some rest." She kept her voice to avoid waking up the baby.

Elpsis sighed, feeling unsure about how to respond. "Sorry for being tardy," she said a bit lamely, glancing from Laina to Morrigan. The little girl looked so peaceful asleep. Oblivious to the danger she'd been in and still was. She stepped forward and fondly stroked the girl's little head. "She looks so peaceful. Wanna take her with you to the living room?" Alternatively they could just have breakfast brought here, but it was easier to eat there.

"Thank you, Hestia. I appreciate it." Laina smiled looking down to her girl. "I'm glad she did too."

Laina glanced to Elpsis, "There's no worry dear. I just needed to check on Morrigan before anything else. She is my galaxy after all. Had to be sure. I don't really run on any schedule, so there is never a worry. Now if you're gone all day, that's another thing."

Her worries, had been mostly relieved. As for Morrigan she didn't even really stir when Elpsis stroked her head. "The living room is fine I think. " She said as she slowly stood as to not disturb the sleeping girl. No doubt she'd wake soon, hungry and wanting her mama.

"Well, I thought about visiting the Blooming Rose and spending the whole day drinking and shagging...but I'm broke. So I'm all yours and hers today," Elpsis said sarcastically, though she kept her voice low because she didn't want to risk startling the baby. Everyone loved baby. Except mean people.

She gently patted Laina on the shoulder. The motion was a bit awkward, but, hey, she was trying. So with Hestia leading the way, the party headed into the absurdly large and grandiose living room. Hestia went away to harass the cooks a bit, then servant girls carried plates of food to the large oakwood table.

Laina chuckled, seemingly amused for the moment. "Yes, I'm sure that was exactly the plan." Slowly she followed with the others into the living room.

With the servants coming in to serve breakfast, Laina carefully swaddled Morrigan and gently settled the little girl into the chair next to her, ever watchful. Soon enough she had her own food in hand and was eating quickly, expecting to have to help feed her little one shortly.

"I'm assuming that Aella is still sleeping." After all the other Amazon had no reason to be awake yet really. There was no pressing matters.

"Is there any plan for the day?" She asked Hestia. "And is there anything you were would like to do, Elpsis?"

Plans? Elpsis didn't plan! She improvised! Well, that was a very euphemistic way to describe things.

"Lady Aella is still asleep. The Lady Mistress has some official business with the local nobles later today, but nothing too big. She said Firemane would start looking into finding your exiled sisters, Lady. I believe she wanted to debrief Aella on that," Hestia replied demurely after sitting down.

Siobhan tended to be more egalitarian than most mistresses, so she didn't insist on servants sitting separately from the mistresses. It probably helped that she liked being fawned over while she ate. "If she's got anything else on the agenda, she hasn't told me yet, but I'm sure she'll be up soon. The Lady is spontaneous." This was an euphemistic way of saying that Sio's planning tended to be influenced strongly by her moods. Hestia briefly glanced over to Morrigan, giving the baby a fond smile.

Since she was hungry and expected Morrigan to want attention, Elpsis eagerly dug into her food. "I, uh, didn't really have plans. Beyond helping you and the kiddo," she replied. She'd considered asking about training, but swallowed the words on her tongue. She didn't want to interrupt Laina's time with her kid after yesterday's events. Yes, Elpsis was trying to show consideration to someone that wasn't herself. Truly a miracle.

"We'll let her sleep then. See no reason to wake her now." Laina said with a shrug, wanting to let her sister get as much sleep as she could given yesterday's events. "And, yes I'd imagine so. Aella has that information on the tribal sisters, me not so much." She'd been gone for too long to actually have kept tabs on anything within her tribe. It wasn't like Laina got a monthly news letter of the daily happenings back home.

Laina nodded, "Alright, we'll just have to see when Siobhan get up I suppose."

She smiled softly, "I appreciate it dear." At this point, little Morrigan started to stir a little, eyes opening slowly and adjusting to her new surroundings. The girl was not yet fussy, but no doubt that would happen soon. Laina set her fork down, and scooped the little girl up in her arms, adjusting the baby so she had a free hand to eat with, and allow her to keep her baby girl close.

This one thinks Amazon Monthly could be entertaining. After all, sisters who for this or that reason were offworld needed to keep up-to-date about clan events. Such as the latest tattoo styles, orgies, manling abductions and hunts!

Anyhow, Elpsis had been gracefully filling herself with food while trying to maintain a modicrum of decorum, which was easier said than done. Then the adorable little Morrigan stirred. The baby's eyes fluttered open and she took in her new surroundings.

"Hey, Morri. Hope you slept well," Elpsis said cheerfully. "We're at Siobhan's place. Big, isn't it? That's Hestia. She's helpin' your mum," Apparently the redhead was getting into her babysitter/older sister role. She sipped her apple juice or whatever this Galaxy's equivalent was, then reached out with her hand to stroke the girl's tiny head. Meanwhile, back in her bedroom, Siobhan stirred and seemed to slowly realise it was time to get up.

Morrigan slowly rolled head head to look over towards Elpsis. The baby kept her eyes locked on the redhead while Elpsis stroked her head. At least in her she recognized her as familiar, and was starting to actually wake up. "Yes, you remember Siobhan. She took care of us before." Though she soon started to get fussy, clearly trying to address her hungry belly. "Hold on, little one. Just a little longer, I promise. I know you're hungry." Laina said as she gently bounced Morrigan up and down, trying to soothe her just long enough to finish her own meal.

She glanced to a servant, "Could you bring me a bottle, please?" She asked. She needed to feed the little one and right now that would be the easiest.

A loud shriek was heard from the hallway. Aella was awake. Really awake now. There was a fuzzball that had just bit her bare toe! "What in the name of the Great White Wolf?!" She seemed most unhappy with the creature and soon scooped it up, trying to keep away from it's teeth. Looking so, so very grouchy she walking into the dining area. "What is this thing?! And is it poisonous? It bit me! It drew blood! I have half a mind to kill it." She grumbled. "It is far too fething early in the morning for things trying to eat me for breakfast."

The sight, just made Laina laugh. "Just the local friendly pet. Giber Grryb... er .. something or another. Not poisonous but so will try to eat nearly anything."

"Family? Friendly? I think that is debatable." She mumbled before releasing it on the floor, to try and attend to her bloody toe before sitting down to eat.

Grrbyrr was obviously shocked by the reaction! The adorable Jester had just been hungry and, well, those markings had looked weird and edible. << Grrbyrr no hurt! Grrbyrr sorry >> As the amazon would discover, the little furball was had some weak telepathy and empathy.

"He's not that bad. Just...hungry all the time," Elpsis said, laughing a bit at the sight. Getting up from her chair, she picked up the Jester. The furball had a short attention span and tried to eat her sleeve, before she pulled him away from it. "No, no eating that."

The Jester looked at her with adorable beady eyes like a puppy and she sighed. "No, not the puppy look. That's cheating." Silly, Elpsis, he's a Jester. Of course he'll cheat! "And no biting Aella's foot. Or she'll be pissed."

<< Grrbyrr be good Hungry! >> Elpsis petted the Jester, which made him purr and lick her hand, and fetched an apple for him before he caused trouble. Meanwhile, Hestia fetched a bottle of milk for Morrigan since the kiddo needed to eat.

Aella blinked, and looked to the creature again. "Did you just? Did it just?" She seemed completely confused for a moment. She'd never run into a creature like it.

As for Laina, well she shook her head, giggling slightly to herself. When Hestia returned, Laina took the bottle from her and shifted Morrigan in her arms, giving up on her own food for a little while to take care of her baby girl. "And yes, he just did talk to you. Telepathy." She said as she finally offered the bottle to her little one.

"I see. Such strange magic. Never ran across a fur ball like that. And my toe still hurts, for the record. Still bleeding even. I am so, not food!" Sighing, she closed her eyes and worked to mend the bite wound herself. So far, the Jester had not gotten off on the right foot with Aella that was for certain.

"What's going on?" No sooner had she said these words, than Siobhan stepped into the living room with a huff. She tended to be comatose till it was almost noon. Her long firemane was unruly and still damp from the shower, though the expensive shampoo gave it a lovely scent. She was barefoot and dressed in a beautiful blue kimono robe. As would become apparent for anyone who took in her bountiful chest, she'd foregone wearing a bra.

"Grrbyrr bit Aella's toe," Elpsis said helpfully. The Jester had already swallowed the apple. "And good morning."

"Oh, naughty Grrbyrr. Sorry, Aella. He didn't mean to hurt you," Siobhan, who still seemed a bit groggy, said and petted the Jester. "You're all up so early."

"It'll be noon soon," Elpsis couldn't resist pointing out.

Siobhan just shrugged dismissively and planted her butt on one of the chairs. "Whatever. How's Morri?"

Laina looked up as Siobhan entered the scene looking quite lovely. She chuckled slightly. "Yeah, he decided she looked a bit yummy." Which she did look yummy, but Laina wasn't going to say that right now.

Aella nodded as she finally released her toe, the wound closed over and a bright purple scar now showed clearly. "It's all good. Just a scratch. I wasn't expecting something like that in the house." Clearly she didn't know about Galina's habit of picking up dangerous creatures for pets.

"Early?" Aella asked. "This is beyond late for us." Referring to herself and Laina. "We usually wake with the sun back home." She gave a shrug. The tribe had their own rules for such things.

Laina smiled a bit tiredly, "Morrigan's fine. Hungry, but fine." She said softly, feeding the munchkin still. "I've no doubt she'll be out for a nap as soon as she's finished. She feels as tired as I do, but with a bit of tea, I'll be fine. She on the other hand needs her rest." Empathy was useful like that. "I think for the most part, we all are fine. Just a little worse for wear. No big deal." Slowly she was starting to let go of the events of the night before.
