Babysitting Blues (Laina)

[member="Laina Silvias"]

It probably said a lot about the men in Elpsis' life that she didn't find this belief too outlandish. Was she a full-blown, instant convert? No. While she was coming to believe that there was a higher power and the Force might be more than a tool, she was still unclear about its exact nature. But the amazons' belief resonated with her.

Elpsis saw the effect her words had on Aella and batted her eyelashes at he lovely amazon. "I'm sure I can make you a lot less reserved about it," she declared. Her flirting techniques were more than a little crude, but she'd graduated the Kerrigan Academy for Oversexed Young Women with top marks.

She paused for a moment before she addressed the faith question. "That does kinda make sense about the black wolf. Most men do suck. Some are OK, but must just try to keep women down. Only really need them for their sperm, which sounds like a bit of an oversight!" Alas, mystical sapphic pregnancies were a plot device, not a publicly available service.

"So, have the white and black wolf, like, always been around together? Or did some sort of higher power create them? And if the Black Wolf rules the Netherworld, where do the good girls who don't fall for him go?" she flushed, realising that this was a barrage of questions. "Sorry if I'm bombarding you."

Laina laughed but quickly quieted herself hearing Morrigan fuss slightly in her sleep. "Good luck, Elpsis. I've been trying for years and have yet to succeed, but feel free to try darling."

Aella's cheeks had flushed slightly as she glared back to Laina. "Just remember, I know where you sleep." She said lightheartedly teasing her tribal sister. With a soft sigh, she gently laid Morrigan into the crib once she was certain she was asleep once more.

"Go ahead, sweetie. I'm sure we'll just draw you into a threesome if you sneak into my room." She replied with a wink.

Aella was quick to change the subject and get away from talk of sex and all of that, which she knew Laina could and would always endlessly tease her on. "On our world a long time ago, men ruled, and the black wolf reigned. While we were kept underfoot, used and abused. Eventually, we rose up and took power for ourselves. It's remained that way ever since."

Of course, there was the deeper question to address, "Once ages ago, there was a creator. We do not know her name, only that she created this galaxy and left the Black and White Wolves behind to watch over the worlds when it was her time to go beyond the stars. She left the wolves as guardians to reign over the young races here in this galaxy."

"You're fine Elpsis; we don't mind answering. Truly." Aella said jumping in, "The good and faithful go to the vast and endless forest. A place without pain, without sorrow. A place where all our fallen sisters before us where the hunts are plentiful. It's a glorious peaceful place. In some ways, it's like a few of the human religions version of heaven, if you will. To us it's the perfect home at the end of a very long journey where we can be at rest and with those who went before us."

Laina spoke again almost finished eating now, "It's a bit hard to describe, but yes more or less that sums it up."

The idea of drawing Aella into a threesome and thoroughly ravishing the darkhaired amazon appealed to Elpsis a lot. She had a feeling that the reserved woman would go wild in the sack. After all, she had to be fervent in her devotion to the Great White Wolf.

However, for the time being they were indulging in mythology talk and, as surprising as that might seem, Elpsis was actually paying attention. It sounded a lot more reasonable to her than the nine line code of purple poetry the Jedi had tried to force down her throat.

A couple weeks ago, she would not have been receptive to any sort of religion, but a lot had changed. "Ok. I see. So the creator created the two wolves, one of them turned into a prick and set up patriarchy because men are weak and don't have a woman's strength."

It did make her wonder why the creator didn't step in, but perhaps it had something to do with free will, as trite as that sounded. She wouldn't want a helicopter parent. "What you say about the afterlife, a big, beautiful forest, does sound nice," she looked unusually pensive.

"I was one of those who got teleported into the Netherworld when Akala had her temper tantrum. Dunno what the queen's problem was." Something about how daddy didn't like her boyfriend a couple millennia ago. What a drama queen. "It...wasn't nice, but I guess that wasn't the real afterlife...unless you're an evil dick. I met my father in it, and blew the arsehole's brains out," she shuddered visibly.

Laina nodded, she hadn't experienced that joy with Akala dragging those to the underworld. "Unfortunately I believe you experienced The Black Wolf's realm. It's not pretty. And it's not a place I want to ever see personally. And if your father was there, that only confirms my suspicion. He'd be the type to be drawn there. At least you gave him what he deserved."

"But you have it right, the creator made the two wolves and left them to rule. Unfortunately, the Black Wolf was greedy, took more than his share and believed the males were the ones with the power and the right to rule being the stronger sex. But there is a reason that they do not carry children. Men can't take the pain and agony of birth. They do not have it in them to bring life into this world. They simply are not strong enough, as we are."

Now finished with her food, Laina slowly rose from her chair. "Since Morrigan has fallen back to sleep, why don't we step out and let the little one rest?" She said quietly, as she lightly touched both on the shoulder to encourage them out the door. Aella nodded and checked one last time on the tiny girl before heading out the door, with Laina not far behind.

"Nope, they can't. They'd have to think of something else other than the sausage between their legs. And they wouldn't be able to handle the pain," Elpsis spoke disdainfully, completely agreeing with her teacher. This one cannot help but wonder whether there might be little Elaris babies one day and how Coryth would react to being a grandmother.

She gave Laina and Aella a nod, checking on lil Morrigan one last time. "Sleep well, Morri, and have happy dreams. We all love you very much," she spoke sweetly, though she kept her voice low to avoid waking the baby up. After planting a soft kiss on the little one's tiny head, she stepped out of the room. "So...when do I get some tats?" That was obviously the most important question on her mind. "And, how do you guys pray to the Great White Wolf when you do that?"

Coryth a grandmother? Don't tell her that anytime soon! "Precisely the point. They can't. And while they do have a part to play in creating the next generation, it is not a large role." Aella seemed to care a bit less about males in general but she hadn't the kind of experience that Laina had with that side of things.

Laina shook her head and Aella giggled a little, "Tattoos wait. It's not a simple thing for the first, or any really. There is a great amount of ritual with each one, the first especially. Generally the first are when you are welcomed into the tribe as a full member. Around twelve years of age for us both. It does vary a fair bit. With outsiders it's not an age deal, just a bit of time, a few rituals for joining from the outside world. Things that we do as we are raised, but obviously outsiders must go through too."

"As for prayers, it's something we do with the sun rise and set each day. The sun represents the white wolf, of course. And nightfall, the black. It does get a little complicated with space travel and hyperspace but I won't go into that right now. The same words we speak each morning to greet her into our lives, and to see her off in the evenings." At least that was the simplified side of things that Aella explained as they were finally in the hallway with the door closed to the nursery.

"I know probably a rather simple way of putting it. We can take you through it when we do it. It's kind of easier that way. To demonstrate rather than simply tell."

Perhaps the universe was not ready yet for grandmother Coryth. One could only imagine how Kaida would react. She was already unhappy about Elpsis calling her Step-Mum. Well, that had not happened yet as of this thread, but whatever.

Elpsis was a bit disappointed when she heard that tattoos would have to wait, but then nodded. She'd just have to gain more approval points! "Oh, ok. Rituals and tests. I can deal with that," she said brightly.

"I'd really like it if you took me through the prayers when it's time. Hmm. If the black wolf represents evil and all that's wrong in the world, why are there prayers at nightfall? Or are these more about warding yourself against his influence and so on?"

Laina hadn't missed the disappointment Elpsis felt. "It just takes a little time, Elpsis. But don't worry, we'll get you there." She said warmly, to try to encourage and reassure Elpsis that she could get there with their guidance, in less time than she'd imagine. "It will seem like a short time, just a blip, once you get there, darling."

Laina looked to Aella and nodded. "We can take you through it later tonight." She hoped the young woman wouldn't find it too strange or odd when she joined with them for prayers.

Aella smiled, "Prayers at Sunset are both for our protection throughout the night, as well as praying for the White Wolf to return to us in the dawn hours safely. As there are no guarantees in life, it's important to pray for her too, to make sure she'll be there."

In the meantime, Elpsis could always worship Laina's legs. That ought to give her some brownie points. The redhead just happened to have a thing for tall women. No wonder she was attracted to Cora, Laina and Shalimar.

Anyhow, Elpsis smiled. She felt happy, and above all, accepted. It was a feeling that she was not used to. It might sound odd to others, but by now she did consider Laina her master. "Ok. That makes sense. Thanks. It sounds very in tune with nature. That's good cause I'm not a fan of sitting in a church and looking at a statue. I'm lookin' forward to participating in a ritual and saying hi to her. Kinda giddy," impulsively, she leaned forward and kissed first Laina, then Aella. She totally used the chance to cop a feel on the second amazon. Perhaps now was the moment for a time skip, during which Elpsis could fawn over her mistress, before sunset arrived.
