It was simply to big of a score for anyone to ignore, really.

A hastily sent distress signal from a HAUL-H Superfreighter. One that was apparently out of fuel, dead in the water, and lacking any sort of "real" escort starfighters to protect it from any marauding threats. Threats like the legions of Imperial Corsairs that were likely to descend upon such a tempting target, eager to take advantage of the ship's greedy owner for not bothering to spend some extra credits on making sure such a ship was properly escorted to and from its final destination. It wasn't a matter of "if" they came, but rather "when", and the real question wasn't what was going to happen, but rather if the pirates were going to steal all of the freighters cargo AND kill its crew, or simply take them for ransom later on.

Truly, a grim fate was awaiting the crew of the HAUL-H Superfreighter.

Excpet...

There never was a HAUL-H Superfreighter to begin with!

Rather, this whole operation, from the existence of the superfreighter to the supposed distress signal that it had sent out was little more than an impressive fabrication by the nascent Rebel Alliance, which was looking to steal something of their own: ships that they could use to further their cause against their many enemies. The only problem? No one would be dumb enough to leave viable starships lying around for the rebels to steal, and between the Sith, Imperials, and Mandalorians, trying to raid a military base or other facility was risky idea, to say the least.

So what could be done in the meantime?

The answer, it seemed, was to rob the robbers: to ambush any pirates stupid enough to answer the distress call, board their ships and steal them right from under their noses as they struggled to process what was happening to them. But, such a plan was not without its own risk: the area where the rebels are operating is likely to be swarming with pirates sooner or later, and there's never any real telling as too who might actually show up to see what exactly is going on...

This thread is open to all! Rebels, criminals, pirates, Imperial, anyone is welcome to hop in! Just be careful with what you might expect to find...

Karkosuchus propped his heavy, scaled feet up on the dashboard of the salvaged freighter, wedging his knees against the narrow lower console. He had hauled the cheap scrap-yard replica of the ancient Hound's Tooth just days before taking on this assignment. The cabin was rather small around the shoulders but the reinforced pilot's chair beneath him allowed him to relax for a brief moment.

He rubbed his sore shoulder where Braze Braze had nearly parted the joint, wincing as the scar tissue pulled under his scales. His eyes scanned the incoming transmissions from the Imperial Remnant, apparently another distress signal from a drifting cargo freighter a few sectors over. He tapped the screen, squinting at the text to make sure this wasn't one of his own forgotten mess coming back to bite him.

Being a wanted bounty hunter meant occasionally losing track of which freighter you ate the crew from. Still, he wasn't about to drop out of hyperspace and walk blind into an open airlock. That swamp scrap with the Echani and the gas-masked alien had taught him enough about rushing into a bad setup without checking his footing first.

He leaned his head back against the grease-stained headrest, tapping his claws on the steel floorboards while he waited for the Imperial drop ship to check in ahead of him.

Former Archive Droid turned Spy & Assassin
A9G-T89's Voice:
Ship: To Be Determined

Weapon: G-22 Imperial Standard Blaster Rifle

Objective: Escape to join with any other faction against the pirates!

A9G-T89 would have been surprised that the ship holding him captive came out of hyperspace right at the exact moment when one of his would-be jailers died. The timing literally couldn't have been more perfect! Looking back on the last few days, the A9G-Series archive droid silently lamented that he had spent the last two days in a futile effort to rouse his fellow captive droids - those without restraining bolts, at least - to action in some form, as there were more then enough of them to give the ship's partial crew absolute hell before they made their escape, but, unfortunately for the other droids, they had all been too terrified of the threat of memory wipes, being thrown into space or simply being blasted into slag to even consider putting up much of a resistance.

So, it was with a rather grouchy assessment of their uselessness and their tender-footed lack of courage that A9G-T89 had harrumphed at them, torn down the cargo bay's control panel and re-wired it to bypass the lock that had been put into place. Having made his way out from there, the droid, frosted-white, laced with intricate and well-kept bronze wiring along his torso and limbs, and tilting a skull-like head to and fro as blood-red photoreceptors flickered and shifted, taking in the sight of a rather dirty and ill-kept, rusted-over hallway. The droid had imitated a rather drawn-out and exasperated sigh through his skull-head's vocabulator, even as, with a flick of his head towards the side of an upcoming - and opening - rusted over tan blast door, wondering just where he was supposed to have been going next if he hoped to gain access to the ship's docking bay, where he might be able to hide until they exited hyperspace...

Unfortunately, at that moment, a Givin female dressed in ill-fitting, mismatched and worn Mahporeem armor over a decidedly un-Imperial gray duster and a worn Nerf vest above the aforementioned Imperial Remnant medic's trousers had just taken her first two steps beyond the corridor's blast door. A9G-T89 and her nearly walked straight into one another! The woman's perpetually-frowning skull-face shifted up and down, her bizarre sky blue eyes shifting rapidly up and down over the pale droid's lanky frame, her eyes squinting with confusion as she caught sight of the droid's restraining bolt. She began to speak in a soft, demure and confused voice.

"How did you get out?..."

Unfortunately for the Givin woman, this unexpected military droid was far faster then she was!

One swift hand the color of frozen glass in the coldest of winters shifted in a blur, clapping with a harsh THUNK! and a clanging noise as her exoskeletal body was forced roughly to one side of the very door she had just traveled through. The droid fixed his blood-red eyes upon the Givin's bright blue ones, even as he spoke the last words she would ever hear in a crass, ancient-sounding voice that reminded her of every foul old man - with an uncaring attitude towards all else that - she had ever met and robbed, right before she had cut their throats as mercilessly as they had berated her.

"An advanced heuristic processor is immune to restraining bolts..."

The droid's one hand pressed inwards over her frowning mouth, her teeth straining, then beginning to crack as the droid's servos whined slightly, while his other hand applied the same amount of pressure to the top of the Givin's skull. She moaned uselessly into one of his unfeeling palms, while he pressed her harder and harder against the rusted wall, akin to a serpent constricting its prey...

After a few moments, the droid's scarlet photoreceptors registered the release of moisture in the form of gray matter and spice-laced, brown blood that added to the rusted orange wall and the door to one side, even as the cracking and falling away of pieces of the Givin's facial exoskeleton was apparent.

It was at that point, as though on cue, that the GG-X1 Raider that he was being transported on shifted: for whatever reason, their vessel had exited hyperspace entirely!

The droid let the hapless Givin's skeletal form crackle to the ground, followed to the splatter of a mind that had mercilessly dwelt upon evil for far too long of a time. One hand shifted down to retrieve her Mahporeem G-22 Imperial Rifle from beneath her rumpled duster.

"Justice is swift, my Dear..." The old, former bookseller spoke, as he pressed the button to open the door and made his way through...

He needed to get to the docking bay and escape! Now was probably going to be his only chance!
