STRENGTHS
- Massive cargo space: A freighter roughly the size of a star destroyer with most of that bulk and size dedicated to the transport of raw material means this ship has without a doubt one of the largest loading capacities of any ship within the galaxy when it comes to civilian transport.
- Powerful defenses: When a ship is transporting very large quantities of raw materials, it is expected to be well defended, though protocol dictates that weapon placements should only be at a bare minimum to avoid a military label, there is no protocol regarding it's shielding and building quality. For this reason, the Avarice class ST3000 SuperFreighter is decked out with dual layered shielding, a secondary shield generator and almost every possible variety of shielding imaginary to the galaxy, adding it all up for a solid, unfazed defense that can have this ship even travel through a warzone if need be.
- Still got some room: Though most of the hangar space in this ship is basically used for the cargo itself, there is at least a central hangar bay at the spine of the ship, which is used for the smaller ships necessary to transport goods to and from the ship and of course to be able to grant inspection and custom officers of various factions within the galaxy proper access to assess the goods in person should they choose to do so.
- Very Low maneuverability: As expected from such a large transport ship, it's lacking in maneuvrability due to the bulk, size and general weight of the ship, with or without its bulk makes no difference due to the ship's emphasis on reliability rather than speed or agility.
- Very Low offensive capacity: Due to galactic agreements and protocol dictating a certain maximum of weaponry before a ship would get classed as a military ship, the Avarice class only has what is considered enough weapon placements to fend off potential bandits or pirates intent on trying to steal its contents, though as aforementioned, because of this reason, the emphasis has been made on defense rather than offense.
- Can't enter Atmosphere: Due to it's low maneuverability and difficult to maintain bulk, it is ill-advised to enter a planet's atmosphere with this ship, it is usually the detachable compartments which are brought down to a planet's surface and back by the support ships on board or smaller freighters planetside.
To accomodate the lucrative civilian market rather than solely focusing on the more competitive and much more restricted Military market, N&Z Umbrella Corporation went through a lengthy design battle between its own subsidiaries, eventually choosing both Nargath holdings' design and Anvil Interstellar's knowhow to produce the astutely named Avarice class ST2000 also nicknamed the SuperFreighter for the very fact that it is in essence one massive transport and freighter ship. Perfect for transporting large bulk or processed goods thanks to its ample space and with enough mandated defensive systems to be able to traverse through the most hostile of sectors, the ship also has the ulterior motive of being designed with further expansion of N&Z's line of work now that plans have been more concretely drawn up to venture into the immensely lucrative mining business.
