Assault on Enigma Prime

The flotilla of Imperial warships floated idly through the void of hyperspace as they approached their destination. Major C’artyom, part of naval intelligence, had put together a operation to gather much needed resources from the far reaches of the galaxy. The cost in fuel alone was exorbitant, but Desmond had assured the Grand Moff that the mission would be well worth it. He was attacking a planet far from the prying eyes of the rest of the galaxy. Their target was Enigma Prime, a world far from any well known governments. In fact it scarcely had a population aside from the miners who toiled in its caves and a private security firm which had been hired to guard the corporation's assets. The company that owned the mines of Kyber and Stygium was a relatively large one. An offshoot of Czerka corp.

Thus Desmond suspected resistance would be stiff. But, with the element of surprise and the right amount of Manpower the Imperial war machine would easily be able to overcome the trials of battle. The fleet emerged from hyperspace right behind one of Enigma Prime’s moons. This ensured that they would not immediately be detected by sensors. While the company had been able to hire a sizeable fleet to guard their interest they had not set up any real fortifications yet. So the Imperials went relatively unnoticed. The Imperial fleet slingshotted around the moon and caught the Czerka ships by the balls. Half of their warships were planetside loading goods from the surface. The other half were descending to be loaded. They were right between the planet's atmosphere and the Imperial flotilla. Unable to turn so abruptly due to the planet's gravitational pull the enemy ships were smashed by Imperial broadsides. It had been perfect timing on the Empires part.

Desmond C’artyom eyed the slaughter from the ship's bridge’s viewport. Gathered behind him were some of the Empire’s best. He turned round to face them as the last of the enemy ships were destroyed.

“I assume you all have been briefed,” Desmond said in his rich Imperial accent “But, I will reiterate the mission details…” He paused as he stared at the men and women gathered before him.

“We will be assaulting the Czerka mines of enigma prime. We will take them over and our own workers will begin production immediately. We are to clear out these mines and protect our own miners from any counter attack that may happen,” Desmond walked to the holo platform that sat in the middle of the bridge and keyed a few buttons. Suddenly a large holographic blueprint of the enemy's mines sprang to life.

Desmond pointed to the image “We will have a three pronged assault. I will need volunteers to lead these attacks. You have all been selected as viable candidates for such a task. Those who are not leading will act as support. We must prepare to launch immediately, as the second half of the enemy fleet is no doubt already preparing to engage. I will be leading the Vanguard protecting our miners. Enemy fortifications are expected to be light. A few guard towers, a couple of pill boxes, and some light armor. But, enemy infantry is expected to be in the hundreds…” Desmond told his team then turned to face the admiral leading the Imperial fleet

“I am fully expecting you to be capable of fending off the enemy counter attack… The gravitational pull from the planet should limit their movement. You already have the upper hand. Do not fail.”

Morcus casually listened in on the briefing, gazing out at the space battle raging on outside the Star Destroyer through one of the bridge view-ports, his hands calmly clasped behind his back in a contemplative manner. He turned to face the group being briefed, before speaking in his usual authoritative tone of voice. "The Empire has invested a great deal in this operation. The resources below will be crucial for the future of the Imperial Fleet, and I do not intend to disappoint the Emperor, or Grand Moff Graf. Succeed in this operation, and I will see to it each of you is rewarded more than generously. Fail, and well.......you all know the price of failure. Do not disappoint us."

"You have to follow your own path."
The soft echo of boots impacting the ground filled the halls as Krieg made his way through the snowy white corridors. In contrast to the shining halls was Krieg Merriden. From head to toe he was draped in shadowy black clothing. Everything from his metallic boots to his leather trench coat , with the only bit of contrast being a blood red Imperial seal clasped on his left shoulder. His movements were stiff and forced, practically robotic. Speaking of robotics, the soft whirring of his ocular lenses could be heard softly erupting from his metallic helmet.

Ignoring the raging battle going on outside of the viewport Krieg's hands were tightly clasped behind his back, just above the small of his waist. The battle outside was of no matter to the Imperial Inquisitor. No, his orders had been given and they had nothing to do with the onslaught that occurred.

His orders were simple, easy to follow, report to the Chiss Major known as C'artyom and provide him with whatever he required. Desmond's file was open to the Inquisitor, and of course the cyborg had given it an extensive read. Exceptional leadership skills, advanced combat training, and as by the books as can be made. A man after Krieg's own heart, if he still had one.

Making his way into the briefing room, he moved silently so not to draw attention from the Major.

The initial brief had already been given, yet the Major felt a need to reinforce the details of their operation. While Krieg did not understand why a mission this simple needed his presence, it was not his position to ask questions. When Desmond spoke of needing volunteer's, Krieg's hand was the first to find the air.

"I can lead one of these chalks, Major." His metallic voice rang through the chambers, leaving just as fast as it had came. After speaking his piece his arms returned to their place behind his back.

To pull from the Major was the Grand Inquisitor himself. As Krieg focused his vision on the man his sensors whirred once again.

What is the Grand Inquisitor doing here? Is this simple operation that important? He mused, before turning his attention back to the Chiss in front of him. "What type of resistance can we expect, Major?" The Inquisitor.....Inquired.

Varik stood with one arm down by his side, the other tucking his helmet under his arm as he watched C'artyom meticulously re-iterate the briefing many of them had already heard. He was inwardly curious as to why the Chiss was put in charge of this operation; not that Varik doubted his abilities, but simply due to his rank it seemed unusual. Ice quietly wondered if he was being tested as an organizer and leader, if perhaps he was being shortlisted for potential promotion. Whatever the case, the Inquisitorus was here in force as well. Even without himself and [member="Krieg Merriden"] present, the Grand Inquisitor making an appearance was highly uncommon. Whatever this was, it was important.

Ice's eyes darted over as he heard the robotic voice of Merriden say he could lead one of the assaults. Immediately glancing back to Desmond, he spoke up as well. "As can I." He needed more experience in leadership and the use of tactics in the field, after all; usually he had only deferred to another commander and simply led troops towards their pre-ordained destination, but being in command of an assault force would rectify that inexperience. Or at least, he hoped it would.

Varik quietly adjusted the helmet under his arm as he heard Krieg's question, one that was tactically important even if, in the end it wouldn't matter much. They would push through and take these mines regardless of what resistance it was, and how difficult. Infantry was the largest, but that was security forces and morale could be broken easily. Light armour wouldn't be too difficult to punch through, and pillboxes could be overrun. He could cut down guard towers personally, or at least that was most bases covered. He mulled over more possibilities in his head; cave ins and chokepoints while he listened to what Desmond or the others would have to say.

Enigma Prime

DT-2417
Call-sign Pestilence Actual
Post One
Objective: Destabilize Office Complex & Deal with Security

Do not fail.

A phrase that was almost a trademark of the Empire. Every officer or person of note ensured to instill unwavering discipline and authority into every action of the men under their command. A zealous agreement to follow the simple fact among every man, woman and child under the banner of the Empire; failure is simply not an option. Death before defeat, no leeway with the enemies that sought to burn every banner and those that served under it. No acceptance to let those who make dealings with the enemy be allowed to continue their acts of treason against the state. The galaxy had many who wished to see the Empire that spanned from Kamino onward crumble into ruin and those that supplied the enemy with the means to do so, this indirect criminality could not be allowed to stand.

Enigma Prime, home to one of many Czerka Corporation mining facilities, was the target of the operation. Whilst a three-pronged attack had been planned on the defenses, resistance will still set to be stiff; pillboxes, guard towers, armor. Whilst the Empire had more than enough to handle these things without any issue, it was more the resources pooled into capturing the post and the output that was expected to come from it. Resource management and efficiency was key for any military operation; no matter how much manpower and equipment the Empire had, there was no need to waste it on a factory. Assets had to be saved for the defense of the Empire's territory and the conflict with the foes outside of its borders.

Pestilence's briefing had been different and earlier than the other briefings had gone out. The Death Troopers had always been a valuable asset when operations behind enemy lines needed to be carried out. Sabotage, disruption and simply being a pest that ate away at hostile manpower, resources and their ability to handle every situation at every flank was one of Pestilence's specialties. The briefing was short, to the point, the plan already set up by DT-2417 and several Imperial Officers just hours before. Everything was in place, the troopers of Pestilence ready to go as soon as the briefing was over. Through the halls of the Star Destroyer, 13 Death Troopers marched, headed straight for the hangar.

Among the Lambda-Class shuttles and TIE fighters sat a freighter, Czerka markings to identify who it belonged to. Intelligence had been crafty, setting up a whole new delivery within Czerka's databanks on Enigma Prime over the last few weeks. With everything checked out, the empty freighter was boarded by its lethal passengers, ready to be transported past the defenses that the rest of the troopers were planned to breach. Hopefully, by the time that Pestilence had sunk their teeth into the security detail and systems within the mining facility, the fight for the rest of the rest of the Imperial personnel would be less heavy and inflict less casualties.

Within a few minutes, the freighter was descending down towards the planet, Pestilence on board, loaded up and ready to bring the fury of the Empire down on those who were loyal only to the call of corporate greed.

This package would be their most dangerous and quite likely their last.

Rear Admiral Jotham Noktis
Location: Command Bridge [Hologram], Orbit of Enigma Prime
Objective: Atmospheric Superiority and Domination of Surface OpFor

The Imperial Fleet whipped around the circumference of the moon of Enigma Prime. It had been haughtily expected that the hired picket fleet that Czerka had acquired, according to various intelligence reports, would have the lack of tactical wherewithal to practice basic security procedures. Such, was unfortunately the case, for the mercantile fleet and the offshoot of Czerka Corporation. Accompanied with the Imperial fleet were three Imperial IV-class star destroyers along with two Vindicator IV-Class Escort Cruisers to accompany each of the aforementioned star destroyers. Additionally, another variation of the Imperial IV-class star destroyer was also present, a Tyrant-Class Star Destroyer, that's tractor beam was being used to inhibit any of the vessels from escaping the iron grip of the Galactic Empire.

During the interval of this operation's happenstance, the Rear Admiral had been off site from the operation, and had actually been in preparation to attend the 3rd Annual Military Ball on planet of Halm before being called to oversee an Imperial-Naval Operation of critical strategic importance. He was annoyed with the lack of communication and proper planning of his involvement in the matter, as he responded to the call, but was nevertheless adhering in overseeing the operation anyway, as was his Imperial and military duty. After receiving a personal briefing on the matter and the imperial assets that were being deployed in use against the OpFor, the admiralty personally ordered the acquisition of a Tyrant-Class Star Destroyer, to prevent any of the measly ships from escaping their clutches. He had holocalled himself on board one of the ships, and was met with the company of a Commodore who was physically on site. The commodore attempted to reach a portion of small talk as the Rear Admiral was called in, but the Noktis was all business, and simply ignored his advances by him abruptly inquiring of the situation at hand.

Meanwhile, the on-vessel slicing-warfare suites and communication-interruption assets on board the Imperial IV-class Star Destroyers were deployed to prevent the enemy reinforcements from being effectively called in. Likewise, as soon as the Imperial vessels were in proximity to fire their turbolaser-weaponry, they inevitably did so as Rear-Admiral Noktis gave them the order to do so, by pressing their advantage against the disorganized and unprepared opposing force of the picket fleet.
