    Planetary Features:
Arsenae is a planet with towering snow capped mountains, low rolling sub-arid farmlands and deciduous forests. While arid shrub brush filled lowlands greet the warm blue seas along tall white cliffs of sandstone. The northern and southern most regions of the planet are covered in pine forests that hug the base of steep cliff sides of towering mountains. Sub-arid hills, plains and deciduous forests take up most of the planets landmass. Providing ample space for farmland, lumber and for marble quarries. The coastline is dominated by arid lowlands, upon which most of the planets population resides. Summers along the coast are hot and dry. During the winter, cool sea breezes bring in rain and much needed water to the dry landscape. Large warm shallow seas dominate sixty percent of the planet and provide a massive amount of fish and other sea life as food for the planets population.
    Major Locations:
    • Temple of the water goddess Nelarea: The temple was once built as a large canal leading from the bay boarding Lesea to the open sea. Over the years followers of Nelarea, who were mainly fishermen and seafarers, slowly built the temple around the canal itself as way to pray to her before each journey out of safe harbor from Lesea and as a way to thank her upon returning.
    • The maze of Vira: Once long ago a queen named Vira ruled over northern half of the continent. Her rule was fierce and absolute, to both her enemies and her subjects. Vira's armies set out across the kingdoms, burning, raiding and looting everything in their path. All the while amassing a vast fortune in gold and precious metals. This vast fortune was secretly hidden in a vault deep within a forest of razor sharp stone. When Vira was overthrown and killed, the location of the vault died with her. For hundreds of years, explorers and adventurers alike have sought the treasure, but to no avail. People have disappeared into the maze, never to be seen again. Perishing from either dehydration, injury or starvation. Those who make it out say there are beasts who live in there. Dog like beasts who hunt in packs and are capable of moving quickly both through and over the maze of deadly stone. (X)
    • Temple of the patron goddess Amera: Temple of the chieftess goddess Amera. This mighty temple sits high on a hill overlooking Lesea and the surrounding lands. The main temple house a high ceiling with many large towering pillars and open floor space. Blue colored banners hang between the columns while large stone basins burn with offerings below. The back of the temple holds a large bronze and marble statue of Amera. Smaller temples also occupy the hill, starting from the from the top and working their way down the hill, from greatest to least importance.
    • Lesea: The capital city of the planet Arsenae and largest city on the planet. Overlooking it from the north is the temple of Amera. To the south, the bay of Nelas. In between these to locations is a sprawling metropolis smoth stonework homes, wide cobbled streets bordered by columns and statues. Blacksmith shops, trader stalls and various workshops line the main roads. Due to its location, Lesea enjoys both the harvests of the land and bounties of the sea brought in to its safe harbor. All this is governed from the palace located near the base of the steps leading up to the temple of Amera.
    • Tarrin Mountain range: A steep long mountain range that cuts through the center of the northern continent of Arsenae. Several large copper and steel mines are scattered along the range, bringing in large amounts of ore for surrounding cities. During the summer months, herders bring large herds of goat like animals onto the slopes to graze upon grass that is high in nutrients. These herds are carefully watched over by both herder and their guard dogs, for these mountains are patrolled by large carnivorous species of feline.
    • Ikona plains: Not only named after the goddess of agriculture Ikona, the Ikona plains are some of the most fertile lands on all of Arsenae. Located in the Southern hemisphere, these plains stretch for kilometers, only broken by rivers and small streams. Most of the land is still wild and untouched, while the rest is used for agriculture in growing everything from grains to large orchards. What's not claimed by farms is claimed by herds of grazing beasts and the predators that hunt them.

    POPULATION
    • Native Species: Arsenian
    • Immigrated Species: Human and small numbers of near human.
    • Population: Sparse. Estimated population around five hundred million
    • Demographics: 99% Arsenian. 1% human or near human. Most immigrated species are traders or diplomats.
    • Primary Languages: Avarae (primary). Galactic Basic (secondary)
    • Culture: The Arsenian people, at a glance, seem like a warrior culture. On the surface they may very well be, as their daughters are trained in the art of war from a very early age. Upon reaching adulthood, every member of society servers a mandatory ten years in the military. Despite this, this all female society has a much deeper and more rich culture consisting of art, philosophy, family, honor and a deep rooted religious ties.
      • Warfare is the most obvious aspect of the Arsenian people. From the polished armor, sharpened blades, and well kept blasters. Even the average citizen shows subtle signs of military training. Thousands of years before, Arsenae and its people were almost exterminated by an offworld threat. After barely surviving and pulling themselves from the threat of extinction, the Arsenians began to train almost religiously in order to defend themselves from other threats that may come their way. That training starts with their daughters at a young age and continues well into adulthood. When a child becomes an adult, they are placed into a mandatory ten year military contract in order to increase their effectiveness as soldiers. Warfare to the Arsenian people is more then just about combat. They believe that one must condition both the mind and body. This has left every Arsenian in peek physical condition.
      • Art, craftsmanship and philosophy are normally lumped together in the same culture group. As philosophy is seen as a way to express ones self such as art, and art can be seen as philosophy from the debates the creation can spark. Philosophy is conducted on both the streets and in colleges, all ranging from simple ideals to stir the imagination or on topics that can shake the foundation of an entire community. Some Arsenians will travel miles just to hear philosophical debates between two rivals. Art and craftsmanship, is one of the greatest forms of expression on Arsenae. From small bronze sculptures to towering marble masterpiece, even the tiniest detail on the temple of Amera. Arsenians pride themselves on the detailed work of not only their sculptures but their murals, temples and even the weapons and armor. Even offworlders pay good money for Arsenian sculptures for how detailed they are.
      • One of the most important things to an Arsenian is their family. The ones who raised you, trained you in the first few years and prepared you for lifes trials as best they could. Each Arsenian does their best to honor their mothers during their lifetime. From helping with household chores, following the codes of honor or even small things such as being there in a time of need. Arsenians believe that even in a time of need, your family always has your back. Even though small squabbles are common, especially from teenagers, disowning of a family member is extremely rare to a point of almost unheard of.
      • Arsenians believe honor in combat is essential and what separates them from most of the offworld invaders from the past. Show no fear even if afraid, do not falter, don't let an opponent needlessly suffer and always strike true. These are some of the codes of honor the Arsenians adhere to during wartime and, when capable, other aspects of their daily lives. To break these codes is seen as great disrespect towards their people and come with a penalty depending on the severity. From a few days hard labor all the way to exile. Executing someone for such crimes has never been done before, as it is seen that the accused can try to gain their honor back through trials. These trials depend on the severity of the crime and the judges themselves, no two trials are the same.
      • No day truly begins or ends without a trip to a temple to honor one goddess or another. Arsenians are a deeply religious people, believing that a set of goddesses watch over them and sometimes bless, or curse, them. The force itself is considered a manifestation of the will of these goddesses and any act performed by the force is them granting strength to the user. Amera, the patron goddess of Lesea, is also considered the queen of the other goddesses is the most worshipped diety throughout Arsenae. The people of Arsenae believe it was her who saved them thousands of years ago by using the force to change their bodies to reproduce via force aided parthenogenesis after the last male on their planet was killed by the Rakata. From then on, she was considered the life goddess or the protector goddess.
    GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
    • Government: Matriarchal Republic. One main ruler with advisers and representatives from other cities or city states.
    • Affiliation None
    • Wealth: Medium. Arsenae isn't a very well known planet throughout the galaxy. Only making contact with the rest of the galaxy roughly fifty years ago, they haven't made much of an effort yet to reach out into the galaxy at large, but keeping a wary eye on their neighbors. They have established trade but only in small amounts.
    • Stability: Medium. Law abiding citizens, low crime.
    • Freedom & Oppression: Arsenians enjoy a high level of freedom. Laws are in place to prevent serious crimes such as murder, stealing, etc.
    MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
    • Military: Arsenae has a strong well developed military, with every citizen having a military background of one form or another. The past fifty years has seen a boom in military tech ranging from more advanced armors, weapons, vehicles and equipment. Access to newer, stronger materials has allowed for the building of both underground bunkers for civilians and the building of orbital defense weapons. The Arsenians are now looking to build their own navy. Right now current vessels consist of small frigates and blockade runners taken from pirates.
    • Technology: Below Galactic standard. Arsenae itself lacks on materials for building more advanced technology, such a silicon. This has left them far behind the rest of the galaxy. With the planet now open to the rest of the galaxy, technology has been growing rapidly in some parts. The military has benefited the most. Even still, the vast majority of the people have chosen to use very limited amounts of technology in their lives, favoring a simple more traditional lifestyle. Heating homes and temples with wood and oil lamps. Harvesting mainly by hand and working through hard labor.
    HISTORICAL INFORMATION
    • Before 24,500 BBY- The Arsenian people were known as the Orousians. A newly formed empire resting along the coasts of the Southern hemisphere. Orousians claimed much of what is now the Ikona plains and most mountains and forests that bordered it. Little remains of the people from that time.
    • 24,500 BBY- Marked the arrival of the sky travelers, a space faring race others knew as the Rakata. These beings descended on the Orousians without mercy in an attempt to enslave them as they had with thousands before. Villages were destroyed, hundreds killed or captured within the first few days. The Rakata almost made good on their promise till they hit a snag. The Orousian people fought back and with surprising efficiency given their primative level of technology. For a full year the Orousians were a constant thorn in the side of the Rakata general, almost everything he did was thwarted by what he believed to be lower life forms. Still, try as they might, the Orousians were fighting a loosing war.
    • 24,499 BBY- One year after the war with the Rakata began, it came to a bitter end. The last of the Orousian people had been rounded up and brought to the remains of their capital. Orsaa, the Rakata general, decided it was best to be rid of the Orousians rather then to enslave them. He also wanted to make them suffer as much as they had humiliated him. Upon his orders, he had every male Orousian killed, leaving only the woman. Then Orsaa left Arsenae to its fate, believing that the Orousians would dwindle away to extinction.
    • 24,499--24,479 BBY- With all the males on their planet gone, the Orousian women sought out answers through the force. Being a religious people they believed that their gods and goddesses were one and the same with the force. They meditated for hours, days then weeks. After years, many lost hope and tried to live out the rest of their lives one day at a time. Until around 24,479 when a child was born, a seemingly impossible task given the circumstance. The child and her mother were from a large coastal city, were a group of sages had stumbled across a method that allowed them to change their bodies to conceive children through the aid of the force. A gift they said that was handed down to them by the goddess Amera. Sadly, less then ten percent of the population was capable of achieving this change. A method that only allowed them to reproduce with the aid of the force and required two force users to achieve.
    • 24,430- Last of the Orousians who couldn't reproduce through the force were believed to have died off by now. The survivors whose bodies excepted the change began calling themselves Arsenians. They took up residence and built the first Arsenian empire in the northern hemisphere. From there, the people multiplied and spread out across the continent. The newly formed Arsenian empire founds the first rules for military training to defend against the Rakata incase they returned.
    • 12,000 BBY- The First Arsenian empire fell dissolved long before and became many smaller empires and city states. The military code it created was not only still in place, but strengthened by previous generations. Art, philosophy and other aspects of life began to form the early empires of the Arsenians.
    • 5,000 BBY- Hundreds of years of fighting amongst themselves had both made the Arsenians strong and at the same time weak. Queen Lesea saw a need for change. One by one, she conquered every empire and city state through either military cunning or diplomatic skills. Eventually she united all the peoples of the known world into an empire that lasts till this day. The capital city was built the bay of Nelas and named after the woman who united them. Shortly after the first temple to Amera was built on a nearby hill.
    • 800 ABY- The people of Arsenae woke one morning to the site of steel vessels descending from the sky. Many feared that it was the Rakata from legends of old returning to do battle once more. The ships held a different menace, however, pirates had discovered Arsenae and believed that it would be easy pickings with their inferior technology. A mistake that was quickly made once they came face to face with the highly trained Arsenians. Taken by surprise and losing heavy numbers, the pirates made a hasty retreat, leaving behind most of their ships and equipment. Days later, a Jedi cruiser arrived searching for the same pirates that attacked Arserae. To their surprise, they didn't find pirates but the Arsenians, a more than capable group of warriors. Instead of bringing war like the other offworlders, the Jedi offered peace. With a cautious hand, the Arsenians accepted. From that point, they took their first steps into the galaxy.

I love the amount of imagination and love that has gone into this submission. I would be beyond happy to see a species sub for the Arsenian people if one does not yet exist, they sound like a people right up the ally of things I particularly enjoy reading about!

There are just a few minor things we need to work on so that I can approve this lovely submission:

  • I think you have a formatting error; this sometimes happens, especially since the board upgrade. Starting with Location Information, all your text is bolded, and some of your bullets are appearing as code instead of the bullets themselves. I only mention this because before Location Information, you formatted differently, so it doesn't look intentional.
  • The maze of Vira - we need the source of this image. Imgur is more of an upload saving site rather than an image source. I've found the first image right here on Wikipedia, which you can use as a source. If you wish to add more of the images to it, that can be worked out as well.
  • https://cdna.artstation.com/p/asset...rge/alexis-harrisson-temple-06.jpg?1538507746 – links to the image directly, not the artist's page or one of their creations' page. The URL in the image source should be this one, from ArtStation.
  • Under Population, in Population, you need to choose from Uninhabited, Insignificant, Sparse, Moderate, Heavy, Crowded.
  • In Government and Economy, the Stability needs to be Low, Medium, High. You can add anything you wish after that.

Please tag me back once these edits are made so that I can go over this lovely submission again and approve it :)

Scherezade deWinter Scherezade deWinter fixed population and stability. Put a different link for the maze, but left the imgur images at the end just as extra visual references. Linked the temple image to the aartists artstation page.

I've run into a problem with formatting. Since I only have a cellphone to make posts, it's not letting me make changes for the formatting and refuses to let me un-bold the text. Not sure how to fix it.

Ellie Omera Ellie Omera Thank you very much for these edits! Just one final ironing and we can get this approved :)
  • This image - A direct link to the jpg can't be used as an image source. But, I've found the image for you right here on Deviantart. If you could just swap this for the source, I could stamp this along. If you put it in Image Source, you can leave the hyperlink for Lesea as it is, no need to edit there.
For the bolding - if you would like, I could go in and edit the formatting for you. Leaving it as it is, is also okay. Tag me back after the image edit is done and let me know what you prefer :)

Apologies for the delay. IRL kept me tied up for a little bit, but we should be smooth sailing now. Overall this is very, very well done. There are just a few things to go over.

1.) Template: You can add fields to the template to add depth to your submission, however, you can't remove any. If part of the template is not applicable for your planet simply put: "N/A". As you can see below you are missing "Canon" from out of character information.

fdafbf4fa5c1f25bc85a78072db79e55.png

2.) Major Imports/Exports: You list metals, however, I would advise adding what sort of metals. Rare items need to be linked and with the way it's listed currently it's unclear what actually exists there.
Major Imports: Metals, some technology, ship parts.
Major Exports: Agricultural goods, fish, lumber, forged metals, marble and statues.

3.) Image Credit: Some of the images linked in your submission don't seem to have credit. I would suggest linking the source under the "Image Credit" section. If possible, label them, so we know which image in the submission it's referring to. Then, in your Major Locations, just link directly to the image you want people to see. It gets confusing because some of those links go to wiki pages with a lot of information. Readers may not be certain which image you want them to see.

That's all! Once we get those items looked at I can get you on your way. I took a sneak peek at the Arsenian Species and it looks pretty cohesive as well. My favorite parts of the planet, admittedly, revolved around the culture. Good work detailing that!

Just give me a tag when you're ready and I'll re-review.

Ellie Omera Ellie Omera It does appear that all of the images you've used in the submission are now credited, however, there are a few listed in "Image Credit" that don't appear below at all. This is fine if that was your intention but I wanted to let you know.

Sometimes when using a lot of Images it is easier to mark them. An example:

X - Planet Header
X - Water Goddess Temple
X - Lesea

or

As long as we can clearly see what image you're referring to it's fine. The Major Locations still have a few direct links to full Wikipedia pages, not a single image, so I'm not certain which ones you're actually intending for readers to see/acknowledge.

Let me know how you want to proceed or if you need any help.
