"I think the kids are ready," Valery chuckled and brought her ear away from the bedroom door to turn to her husband. Since early morning, she had heard the kids preparing something in the kitchen, and they likely were getting their gifts ready as a surprise. Of course, they had been more than loud enough to wake their parents, but Valery would happily act surprised for them. Just the idea that they remembered this was their parent's big anniversary made a smile linger on her lips — they really were the sweetest kids a parent could wish for.

"Judging by the smell, I think they've tried to replicate your pancakes."

Valery snickered and walked over to wrap her arms around Kahlil's neck for a moment, "Let's go enjoy some breakfast, see what gifts the kids got us and... then we're off for a while." She looked at the packed bags and let out a happy sigh. For once, she was actually feeling quite relaxed, and she definitely seemed eager to leave the bedroom and be with the kids for a bit.

"Got the pancakes ready?" Vera meanwhile asked Aris. Unlike him, she had made a mess of the kitchen, but she could clean that up later. Or... mom and dad could. She had made them pancakes with Aris after all, and the triplets were all sitting at the dinner table too, ready for their own meals.

"Hmmpf... yours look better than mine!"

There were a couple of concerning sounds throughout the morning. The kind that had Kahlil wanting to get up from the bed to just make sure they were alright, but he defaulted to staying with Valery. With quite the nervous smile. "Is that what they're doing? I guess that makes sense, heh. They got this. Probably."

When it finally came time for them to step out he was the first to rush towards the kitchen. Which, was as messy as he'd expected it to be. He let out a sigh as he glanced over the mess before settling on the two eldest children and the pancakes they'd made. Smiled none the less as he reached down to pat their heads. Aris smiled briefly himself as he set his plate on the table. He'd made his own mess as he went, but unlike Vera he tried to clean in between each step.

So there was a pile of dishes in the sink half cleaned.

"We both did our best. I just followed the directions directly."

"Probably~" Valery said with a huge grin on her face. She knew it'd be impossible for their kids to prepare anything in the kitchen without making a mess, and she knew how much Kahlil loved his kitchen. Perhaps he knew too deep down, and that's exactly why he was a bit nervous. He was dreading to find out just how much they had messed things up.

But at the same time, she knew he'd love it.

As soon as he made his way out, he'd find a battlefield — even with Aris cleaning up some of his stuff, Vera had made up for it by not cleaning anything. She just grinned at her dad, raised her arms and smiled, "Good morning! We made pancakes for you!" She giggled and watched her mother step out of the bedroom behind her father. She was all smiles, and looked at her family with nothing but affection in her eyes.

"Awe, you two even got the little ones ready," Valery said, and Aeryn was quick to answer, "Daddy! Daddy!" she called out while she waved him over.

She had made a drawing as a gift.

"I hope the pancakes are good!"

Kahlil stepped over to Aeryn, gently patting her head before taking up the picture with a chuckle. Leave it to them all to bring such a warm and bright smile to his face. He turned to the fridge to set it up and hang it there before glancing down to Aris, who'd taken a seat at the table to watch with his own faint smile. Then to the sword that hovered beside him.

"I did not realize we were supposed to be presenting offerings this day. Forgive me, my Lord. I shall find you something appropriate post haste."

Kahlil snorted, and Aris laughed just a little nervously as he reached out to touch Seszil. "Gifts, not offerings. For their anniversary. You don't have to get them anything, Seszil. though I know you will so we can find something together, yeah?"

Kahlil couldn't smile any wider at this point as he found a spot to sit, shaking his head. Aris was awfully mature.

"Let's focus on breakfast first, mm?"

"My Lord? I'll have to remember that one~" Valery teased with a wide grin when Seszil chimed in. She then watched as the triplets offered up their paintings for the fridge, and she really couldn't stop smiling anymore. She sat down, reached over to hold Aurra's hand when she reached for her mother's, and a happy sigh escaped her lips.

She was with her family.

"One serving of Vera's pancakes!" Vera walked over to her dad and presented a plate of pancakes. Not as great as his own, but they looked awfully good for her age. She was proud of them, and so she wanted her dad to enjoy them. Aris, meanwhile, would be given a chance to offer his pancakes for mom.

He loved her cocoa so much, so Vera had figured he'd wanna treat mom to something.

"I love you all so much," Valery said with a chuckle before looking at Kahlil with a warm smile. "How are yours, love?"

Kahlil pointed a finger at Valery, making quite the face. No Lord here. But then he was looking back to the pancakes Vera had made him with a wide smile. He didn't hesitate to dig right in, nodding quick to show his enjoyment. A thumbs up, a grin. It wasn't as good as his own, but the fact Vera had made it for him put it lightyears ahead of what he could make.

Aris, though, set out his own plate for Valery, shuffling nervously from foot to foot. He really wanted it to taste good, it was why he spent so long making sure all the measurements were right.

"Enjoy, mom."

Valery just grinned and blew him a kiss when he pointed and made a face. She had him for once, or so she liked to think anyway, so now she was going to add her own little teasing faces to it. Perhaps not the best idea, given that they were about to be alone on a cruise for a while, but that kind of logic had never stopped her before.

She had to take her shots.

While Vera then excitedly presented her dad the pancakes she made, Valery watched Aris shuffle over with a bright smile. He was just the most adorable little thing in the Galaxy to her right now, forcing her smile to widen even before she had a taste of his pancakes.

When she did, they didn't disappoint either and she could tell he very carefully had followed his father's steps. They were actually great, so everything about her smile and what she said was genuine, "Oh sweetie, they are just perfect," she said before leaning in to wrap an arm around him. She then pulled him close, kissed atop his head and rested her forehead against his for a moment.

"I love you, and your sister too. Thank you for making our day special."

Aris gave a little smile but it was one of those filled with pride and joy that he was trying to keep control over as he got a kiss on his forehead. "Of course, mom." He stepped back to give some space before glancing to Vera and gave her the nod. He knew how much she didn't want to have to clean, after all. And, well, what better way to sneak away than the excuse of letting Mom and Dad have some alone time?

"Enjoy your meals we'll take care of the triplets."

And like that he ushered them all out with Vera's help, leaving Kahlil there with a smirk on his face as he glanced towards Valery.

"We hired a housekeeper at one point, right?"

Even though his smile was reserved, Valery could easily tell just how happy all of this made him, which in turn made her squeeze him into the hug a bit tighter. Though, the moment he stepped away and gave the nod to his sister, Valery began to catch on to some kind of Noble scheme. Vera returned it, stood up and helped Aurra out of her seat, before helping Aris handle the other triplets.

Why were they leaving already?

Oh.

Valery squinted at the kids while they moved away, then looked at her husband with a huge grin, "Now that is your genes. That mess isn't going to clean itself, and they know it." She chuckled and tucked aside some of her hair. "Yeah, we should really get someone to help us with cleaning the house. Just imagine when the triplets are a bit older too, and all of them start causing trouble?" She shook her head with a smile, then reached over to place her hand on top of his.

"Today is the big day huh... 10 years of being married. It feels..." she let it linger, but a lot of words came to mind. Amazing, unreal, crazy.

"To then more years together?" She raised a piece of her pancake, on a fork this time, as if to toast.

"You're right. They're pretty clever for it."

Kahlil chuckled, watching as they left before glancing to the mess. He'd handle it. It was the least he could do as thanks for what they'd decided to make. In the future though, he'd be putting an importance on them cleaning up their own mess.

But for now, yeah. They were clever, and he'd reward that.

"Forever and always, love. Not even death will keep us separate for long." He lifted his own fork to boop hers before grinning. "Why are you using a fork though?"

Valery looked at him with that trembling lower lip when he told her even death wouldn't separate them for long. She wasn't going to cry this time though, and her lips quickly curled up into the most loving smile she could show him instead. The kind that he had always loved to see the most.

"That... makes me happy to hear," she said almost a little timidly, before their pieces of pancake squished together. Which immediately had him ask about the fork.

"Well, I can't have everybody thinking that you married a gremlin now, can I?" she chuckled and slowly brought her piece up to her lips to eat the breakfast her son made her.

"I have to be a lady. Or do you like Shadow gremlin me better?"

"I'm fairly certain everyone knows how much of a gremlin you truly are already."

Kahlil smirked much too wide now as he took another bite of his own. He couldn't help but tease her, though in part to keep from marveling too long at the smiles she made. He could get lost in just watching her smile like that.

But then they'd never get anywhere.

"When do we leave for the cruise, Lady Gremlin?"

"Lady Gremlin?" Valery gasped and exaggerated just how horribly shocked she was to be called a gremlin of all things. It was just preposterous — she always behaved, and eating pancakes the way she did was how it was supposed to be. If anything, Kahlil was a gremlin for eating them the way he did.

"Wowww, I see how it is," she then added with a playful pout. The teasing wasn't something that'd ever bother her, not from him, but she was still going to play her part. Not just because it was fun, but also because she could sometimes get something out of it. Like...

"Now you owe me a very nice, long massage when we get to the cruise ship," Valery said with a waggle of her brows. "But uh, I was thinking we'd kiss the kids goodbye for now, and then head out?"

"Mmhmm. A massage is all you want." Kahlil waggled his eyebrows before he nodded. Another couple bites and he finished his pancakes. If that was all that remained between them and their trip, there wasn't any reason to linger. He stood, took the plates to the sink, started actually cleaning up the whole mess. Asides from that, anyway. "We taking the Bastion?"

Valery batted her eyelashes and smiled as innocently as she could, "Of course it is. My body needs to relax, my beloved husband," she said with a growing smirk on her lips. She then watched him rise and walked over to step behind him while he cleaned up the mess the kids made.

Or, well, the mess that Vera made. So in a way, it was amusing that Kahlil was the one cleaning it while Valery was just there to tease. She wrapped her arms around his waist, both to hug and to make the cleaning more difficult, and gently teased her hands along his abs.

"We can just take a simple shuttle ride there. Leave the Bastion here in case it's needed," she said, still grinning from ear to ear.

"Or will you miss it too much?" She snickered.

"Oh I'll miss it, but the idea of a vacation is to stay in a place that's not your home, right?"

He smirked, glancing over his shoulder briefly to her before continuing to finish up on the dishes. There was still some to do, but it wouldn't take long at all. Even with Valery trying to get in the way. Kahlil just chuckled and shook his head.

"You could help, you know."

"That's true. It'll be nice to be out and about a little for fun, rather than work," she said with a chuckle. Valery knew she was going to miss the kids though, but it'd be good for the two parents to have some time alone as well. It felt like forever ago that it was possible for longer than just a day or two, and usually those times were for Jedi Duty too.

Or their fun had gotten rudely interrupted.

"I could help." She squeezed around him tighter and rested her head against his back. "But this is more fun and you owe me after calling me a gremlin." She looked up at him with a smirk now, and let out a soft, happy sigh.

"I'll go call the kids over. Can't leave the house without giving them a kissy." She chuckled, finally released him, and turned around to yell, "Kids! Come on out, please. Your dad and I are leaving soon!"

"I guess that means there's no need for a massage, then."

Kahlil smirked in absolute smugness as he dried off the last of the plates to put them away, not breaking eye contact with her in the process. At least until the kids came back down. Aris lead the way, more ushering and corralling the triplets so they could say goodbye.

"Okay! We're here!"

"Wait, no!" Valery gave him the biggest puppy eyes she ever had, while he looked her in the eyes all smugly. This wasn't part of the plan — she wanted her massage. He couldn't just take that from her over some dishes. She was about to grumble more about it when the kids walked in, of course with Aris leading the little pack.

Seeing the triplets carefully walking over, guided by their big brother, was just the cutest thing in the world. Valery smiled, went down on her knees, and spread her arms to pull all three of them into a big hug. She kissed them on the cheeks, and they kissed and hugged back, and Valery was a happy mom with her babies.

"I'll miss you, Dad," Vera said with a grin before hugging him. "We'll keep the triplets safe, we promise!" She looked at Aris and nodded. Vera didn't care at all that they'd have a babysitter. It was their duty to protect their siblings, and she wasn't going to fail them. She had already saved them from Carnifex once, so nobody else was going to ever come close to the little ones.

"Come here, Aris," Valery finally said once it was his turn for a hug. "We'll call a few times and if anything is up, just contact us, okay?" she asked, totally like the worried mom she often was.

Aris nodded in turn. He'd heard about what happened with Vera, but not the specifics behind it. They'd protect each other, and the triplets. Together. He blinked though, glancing to Valery before stepping over to give her a hug with a bright smile. "I hope you both have fun."

Kahlil nodded, reaching down to pat all their heads with a smile.

"We will, don't worry."
