All hunts have to start somewhere...[Fringe Leaders Only]

The Veil dropped out of hyperspace above Annaj, uncloaked visible for all sensors to pick up. Mia watched the console as long range scanners swept over her ship, chewing the inside of her cheek, agitated and uncomfortable with being visible to all. So long she'd flown with Rel Connory hidden to all, but now she needed to be seen. She took a deep breath and reached for the console to send a transmission.

"This is the Liberty's Veil, requesting permission to land."

A moments silence as the scanners swept over the ship once more. Mia had no doubts recent events had left the fringe lords feeling somewhat mistrusting. Her fingers itched to relay the transmission again before a response came back. "Permission granted, Liberty's Veil. Your business?"

"My name is Mia Monroe, formerly known as Mand'alor the Liberator. I wish to speak to someone with influence. Sooner rather than later."

"I'll see what I can do for you."

There was no Sith Empire any more, and even if there was Mia would have had no way of finding the sith she was after among them, they held no love for her and the feeling was mutual. She knew two things though, the first was that the Fringe's Admiral, formerly Sith Empress had once struck a deal with the Bear to keep the Mandalorian's and the Empire at peace. The second was that there were Sith among her ranks that were almost free to do as they wished, like try to claim a bounty on a friend of hers.

It was a long shot, but she rarely missed.

The woman would find herself escorted to a conference hall deep inside of the fortress. It was there that the Lord of the Fringe was already seated at the head of a long table, he was not sure what the problem was. But seemingly it had been something important and Jared did not like to ignore important matters. The room was empty besides him, though that would not be the case for long. The other High Council members had been sent for and would be here shortly. Carefully he filled his glass with some appletini, as he waited for his guest to arrive.

It did not take long, the guard assigned to her had escorted her in record time.

“Well met. My name is Jared Ovmar, Lord of the Fringe and a dozen other titles. With whom do I have the pleasure of dealing with?”

@[member="Mia Monroe"]

She came without armour, but she would not, despite the guards protest, come unarmed. It wasn't just that she had no reason to trust the people she was about to deal with, it was also that she would rather not enter unknown territory without being able to defend herself. The guard had argued with her, and the guard had lost the fight, giving in to Mia's unchanging position and crumbling beneath her stern glare.

She stepped forward to offer the Lord of the Fringe her hand as the guards left them.

"Mia Monroe, former Mand'alor. I have to say, I'm impressed with how quickly you agreed to see me."

Takes a second or three thousand for the message to get routed to me, but I get it and hop to. @[member="Jared Ovmar"]'s already gotten the Mand'alor the Liberator chick (yeah I call her that to her face I die, I get it), into a conference room and he's doing his Masterly thing. Sure! Great! I can show up, as I do at the three second-too-late mark. A side door opens and I come in, leather trousers, brown boots and a long sleeved grey t-shirt. A blaster pistol is fixed to my hip, as since the whole @[member="Meret Blackmoon"] and her soon-hubby's chokey friend incident I need some form of fire first, apologize when I'm 7000 leagues out of there.

"Well met, Mia" I nod to her, strafing the table and taking a seat by Jared. "Oooh, Appletini."

The lucidity of Anders begins to drain for the grounded mental state of Jared's current-filled calm. Calmer than I, anyhow. My empathetic talents fill the space, I brush my mind against this Mand'alor Emeritus for the sole purpose of discerning an emotional state of mind. What can I say? It's my only thing.

"High Councilman Anders Sivas. Drink? Snack? Better eat your fill before the Dragon comes in." I offer my hand as an afterthought, a pair of brown fingerless leather gloves adorning each hand. Worn at the palms - somehow I've had them for a while.

Mia's eyes narrowed as she felt the newcomer brush her mind. She looked down at his offered hand and clicked her tongue. He would find her calm, but there was a deep simmering anger beneath the surface that spiked at his touch. She did not like such an open display of intrusion. She remembered her position, nonetheless and accepted the hand briefly.

"A word to the wise, High Councilman Sivas. Stay away from my mind, its not a pretty place to be and I don't take kindly to intrusions, regardless of whether their intentions are good or not." Her eyes flashed dangerously, a friendly warning. She accepted a glass of Appletini and sat herself down. "Did you say dragon?"

@[member="Anders Sivas"]

Mia fething Monroe.

The instant Rave Merrill walked in, Mia would know exactly who she was, courtesy of the whole 'human flash drive' incident: Velok's longtime lab assistant. And Rave knew exactly who Mia was.

"Oh yes, he said dragon. Welcome to the Confederation, Mandalore the Liberator." She met Mia's eyes frankly. "What can we do for you?"

@[member="Mia Monroe"]

Mia stiffened ever so slightly as @[member="Rave Merrill"] walked in, more so at the use of her title than the fact that she had worked closely with Velok. It was fast becoming apprent to her that there were few skilled people in the galaxy Velok had not met or used at some point in his lifetime.

She almost requested her title not be used, but she held her tongue for a moment and chose instead to answer the question. "I'm hoping you can help me find my prey." She said with a cold smile.

@[member="Mia Monroe"]

"What do you know already? What kind of prey are we talking about?"

It dawned on Rave that Mia would also know that Jorus was her brother, and that Jorus had once worked a contract or two for Velok. Which made things...very interesting indeed.

Mia shrugged "Only what my eyes and senses told me. A sith, about eight foot tall, built like a brick and adept with force cloak and stealth" Mia sat forward and rested her arms on the table wondering how best to tread this path. "Since the Empire has fallen, it makes finding a sith a little harder than normal, but you have some in your ranks. I'm not assuming he is in your ranks, but I'd like to eliminate at least one chunk of space, or perhaps narrow my search."

Eyes lifted to meet Rave's "This nameless dar'jetii tried to kill Jorus on his own ship while I was there. I intend to make sure its a mistake he doesn't make twice."

Knowledge was such a powerful thing, when you were given the opportunity to use it.

"Lightening and force scream. It was a short fight, I doubt that's his entire skill set but yes, he's a Master and he's a specialist, that much I can confirm."

She shifted her gaze to the rest of the Councillors. "If he is in your ranks, I don't expect you to give him to me. But I will request you stay out of my way when I find him."

A Master of the Force Cloak technique and Stealth, there was only one man he could think would fit the bill; seeing as Force Cloak was a very rare power, though he did not show his assumption to the mandalorian woman. Instead he just listened intently to what the other people in the room had to say, he did not mind to stay in the background and just listen. In many ways that was the better position, to stay above the discussion and get to know all the angles.

In the end though, he could not contain himself any longer. Instead he coughed softly to show his intent of speaking.

"For one, I like to handle things quickly and painlessly. That explains why you are here now, instead of being harassed by a secretary to make a formal appointment in a month or so. Secondly, though I do not condone any hostilities by my people and as such -if- this Sith is among our ranks he or she will be held accountable. But -only- if there is proof. You understand that we cannot just take your word for it."

@[member="Mia Monroe"].

Lucien Himself arrived a short time after the doors slid open at his presence he stode in flanked by a Personal assistant. He offered the collected group a low quick bow then moved to his seat looking the group over. His wife had yet to arrive but her would be Harlot was in attendance. He covered the man a nod "Councilor" he said with veiled contempt. He took a seat at Jareds right side "My Lord Ovmar, Lady Monroe" He offered webbing his fingers.

"That said, we've had...difficulties...lately with people operating on our borders and pretending to be Fringe, using us as cover. Suffice it to say, this is something we're taking quite seriously these days. Where did this take place, and on what date?"

"Proof?" Mia repeated her eyebrow raising. "What proof would you have me provide you with? If I had holovids I wouldn't be sat here giving you a verbal description. I can show you a damaged ship, and I can ask Jorus Merrill to come here and add to my word, but aside from that my word is all I have." She nodded her head in greeting to Lucien "My word is sound, I don't make a habit out of demanding to see authorities so I can weave lies for the sake of one sith." She offered a cold smile, somewhat insulted by the suggestion that she was lying.

She returned her attention to Rave. "In the Styx System a few weeks back."

@[member="Mia Monroe"]

"I know of Styx, but few people do, even at the highest levels of the Confederation or the former Empire - and the Empire had no stealth specialists left. If you were attacked at Styx, it wasn't by..." She paused and grimaced. "It was almost certainly by someone who tracked you or him. Someone looking to collect on my brother's bounty, since yours is defunct.

"We'll look into this, for the sake of security. My brother is no friend to the Fringe in his private life, but he does significant business in our space -- his space trains are going up on most of our worlds, and he controls Verkuyl's bacta. That's an advantage we don't intend to disregard. If this does turn out to be a Fringer, everyone involved will have to learn how to tread carefully."

In all honesty Jared did not care if he had insulted the woman with his inquiry, the fact of that matter was that he was here not to please her. He was here to be a neutral party, as such all information was necessary before coming to a conclusion. "Well.. let us for a second pretend that this Sith in question -is- in fact a member of our little Confederation. Let us say he denies all responsibility to your accusations. -Why- would we take your word above the hypothetical word of one of our members?"

He had no personal feelings for the Sith in question. Hell he probably had done just what the woman was accusing him of, it had his name all written on it. But there was a proper way of doing things, that he did know.

@[member="Mia Monroe"]

Lucien looked to Jared "... Justice My lord" He smiled "We would take her word and bring the individual under investigation, Unless my Lord wishes to have all victims of crime gather their own evidence and save our police a job and perhaps My lord wishes to abolish eyewitnesses in criminal trials" He lent back pouring himself a drink. He turned to Mia. She didn't look like a liar and he prided himself on finding liars, only 16 people executed on his order later turned out to be innocent.

"Your brother is friend to very few people in his private life." Mia replied with a smile. Jorus had a knack for upsetting the greater powers in the galaxy. Dark eyes glittered dangerously as they settled back on Jared, though Lucien piped up to respond before she could. He didn't have to judge Mia's word by her appearance, they had crossed paths before working with Je'gan Olra'en.

"With all due respect, if he is within your ranks, your justice system will mean very little to me."

That wasn't going to help her situation, but she might as well make it clear that the git wasn't going to survive long enough to make it to trial.

I sit back for the time being, and the strings of a coldly played violin strangle their way up my spine. Oh! Must be @[member="Lucien Cordel"] meandering in! Wonderful. Hello to you, too dude. I slept with your wife before she was yours. Yeah, I know. Interplanetary congeniality is a tricky little son, and in the end of it I feel the 'cough' love. Life happens. Wow. Anyhoo, I'm moseying out of @[member="Mia Monroe"]'s mind before I get the holy witch slap from Mandalore (which I believe is contraindicated to my health) and kick my boot up on a knee.

'@[member="Jared Ovmar"], you know who she's talking about? What'm I missing here?' I push the thought to Jared, hoping my drinking buddy and finder is going to be good for it. The room feels a certain kind of je ne said quois, I get the subtext here that my fellow Council Members like @[member="Rave Merrill"] might know more than I do. Probably the case, seeing as how I'm …. well, a bit slow on the uptake when it comes to the amount of members in our little bit of space.

Sip, sip, sip goes the Appletini and I chuckle. "Whose justice, Lord Cordel? Funny thing, justice. Folk can claim it based on a flimsy pattern of point of view. Don't coat it. Mia wants a specific draught of blood and her coming here is courtesy to us. So where do we stand? Gonna set up a blockade on the off chance that the git'll make trial? I say we step back, say 'thank you for the advance notice' and let Ms. Monroe have her hunt. Wash our hands. If this Stealth Master is here, and he did the deed, do we want him in our space? I get it, we don't want a hunt of the wrong guy. Pretty sure the eight footer was memorable. I know you don't like people taking a peek upstairs, Mia, but if Jared and the others want proof, I can guarantee you I've seen worse. Let me in, show me the memories, and we go from there.

It's an idea, I understand if it's a vast and resounding 'no'. Still, gives the Council their proof and you your hunt through Fringe-tasia."
