Strengths-
- Veteran naval commander: Despite the relative inexperience of the Atrisian navy, Akio proved himself and quickly rose through the ranks and distinguished himself in border skirmishes and anti piracy missions.
- Skilled diplomat: Akio has a talent with speaking, and understanding others. He had often used this on Atrisia's behalf to further their goals.
- Pilot: As a junior officer Akio often acted as both fighter and shuttle pilot, in addition to his other duties. While he saw little combat as a pilot, he proved himself above average in skill.
- Tained with pistols: The standard sidearm for naval officers, Akio is a fair shot with a pistol
- Yovshin Swordsman: Whether he liked it or not, Akio was born into the Kahoshi family and was expected to practise the legacy of his family, the jar'kai style of combat.
- Law above all: Akio has an obsession with rules and law that borders on insanity. When given a choice between following the law and doing what he knows is right, he will always follow the law.
- Bad shot: with any other weapon besides a pistol, he is a dismal shot. He also knows little about melee weapons other than "stick them with the pointy end."
- Doesn't lie: For whatever reason, Akio does not lie. He commonly uses misleading phrasing or omits details, but does not give a truly false statement.
BIOGRAPHY:
When the plague started the Imperial Moff of Atrisa sealed the planet from the outside Galaxy, to the point of ordering any incoming ships to be destroyed before they could land regardless of whose they were. Then for the three hundred years of the plague and most of the remaining century the planet remained sealed off. During this time the system of the Galactic Empire remained intact, and they continued to consider themselves citizens of the Empire despite being only a single planet with no outside contact. A series of Moffs would rule the planet, with the newest in the chain being a Zin Shu.
Born to the Kahoshi family on Atrisia, Akio was raised in a world of wealth gained through illegal means. Despite the Atrisian government's best attempts they could never route the Reki, or The Family, that ruled the Atrisian underground. Lead by the Kahoshi family, the Reki had existed for millenia and was to ingrained in the social and economic fabric of the planet for the Moffs to remove without causing the government to collapse. Abhorring the way his family skirted Imperial law growing up, Akio studied intensely so that he could leave his family and join the Atrisian Academy as soon as he could.
When Akio was a young officer in the Atrisian Navy he participated in raids on nearby planets, bringing them under the control of the Atrisian government. They had spent so long within their own space though that the movement outward was slow, and they mostly kept to themselves with the exception of exterminating any pirates that dared try to attack. Despite their years of isolation, the Navy had kept their small force of ships operational.
Through constant naval operations against neighbors and pirates, Akio Kahoshi proved himself tactically and in command. Eventually he rose to the rank of Vice Admiral, the highest rank of the Atrisian Navy. Now he answers only to Moff Shu, and is preparing to go beyond their borders and learn more about the Galaxy they have found themselves in.
Eventually it was decided that it was in the best interested of the Atrisian Empire to seek protectorate status under the Republic. In this way they would retain sovereignty, and still be guarded from invasion by the greater powers. In exchange Akio's forces were put under the command of the Republic, but this did not last long.
Eventually the Atrisian Empire's power expanded to the point they could survive on their own. As their power base grew, Akio became less and less tolerate of Moff Shu's ineffectual governance. The Empire needed a leader the people could see, and in all but name Akio already was this. Using ancient, and admittedly weak, ties to the Kitel Phard Dynasty Akio removed Shu from office and declared himself Atrisian Emperor.
The Empire conintued to expand under his control, taking in refugees from the Galactic Imperium and even claiming the Chiss Ascendancy as a member of the Empire. Seeking to restore the Empire to its former glory, Akio restored the Atrisian Empire to its former Galactic Empire self.
This would prove a disastrous mistake. Even as the Empire expanded, the Republic had begun attacking anyone within reach that the deemed "evil." The Galactic Empire became one such target, the treaty of the past long forgotten by the juggernaut of the Republic. Seeing it as the only method to protect his people, Akio accepted an offer he had previously rejected to join the Fringe.
Now a much diminished and once again Atrisian Empire, Akio and his people struggled to retain their sense of self. Unfortunately, not long after an unknown terrorist destroyed much of the Imperial Tower Akio was in killing the Emperor.
It was not until years later during the Netherworld incident that Akio rejoined the living, and now he has a new purpose. To see his people once again the leaders of their own destiny.
