The final of the new designs being implemented in Aculia's switch to small scale mercenary work, the Black Osprey is an effective stealth dropship designed with the Zephyr's needs in mind. With each being able to carry around fifteen fully equipped soldiers, the full squadron is capable of transporting an entire company's worth of men and material quietly, safely, and stealthily, while conveniently serving as large escape pods should the Zephyr ever need to be rapidly evacuated. It is capable of providing light support and suppressing fire to its dismounting infantry as well, however, it is not suggested that one attempt to engage all but the lightest enemy vehicles with the Osprey as it is not capable of dealing with enemy armor-after all, it is a dropship, not a gunship. The lack of armament, however, is made up for in the heavily reinforced shields, armor, and good crashworthiness-one has a good chance of making it out of a crashed Osprey alive. It is also capable of independent operations as well with its hyperdrive, meaning that the Zephyr need not be physically present in the system, although one must keep in mind like any small craft its lightspeed range before refueling is limited. Overall, it performs the role it was designed for well.
