DESCRIPTION

A replacement for several earlier models, the A7Y is intended to address several flaws in the former's design structure.

A7Y droids are large, around half again as tall as most humanoids when reared to their full height, and weigh many times as much. They are gaunt, spindly, nightmarish things, far apart from the squat solidity of their predecessors.

This skeletal design structure affords these models significantly increased mobility. In addition to the rolling locomotion droidekas are infamous for, the A7Y is also very quick in its walking locomotion, utilizing four magnetized blade-limbs.

These it can utilize in a somewhat insectile crawling motion, flattening its body and enabling it to race up walls and ceilings with startling agility. These machines can run, leap, climb, and otherwise locomote with far greater ability than any previous model. A7Y droidekas are also known to use these limbs as slashing weapons to fend off melee attackers. Given these droids' considerable size, weight, and reach, this tactic can quickly spell an end to attempted close-combat engagements.

The A7Y sports a significantly increased armament over earlier Helix designs, and outclasses its ancient forbears many times over. A pair of Falcata phosphor-blasters adorn the droid's "head" while a pair of Steelbreaker ferro-plasma drivers are mounted on its shoulders.

This armament, coupled with Helix's proprietary Aftershock firing solution software, enables the A7Y to engage infantry, heavy vehicles, or aircraft at all practical combat ranges. What's more, it enables this new model to replace the dated B3H and B3S models from a logistics standpoint.

Its defense is equally profuse. An internal latticework of KBR reactors enables the A7Y to sustain three overlapping Palisade thermal shields. This bulwark is sufficient to render small arms almost entirely ineffective, and enable the droid to sustain significant anti-vehicle fire to bring down. Coupled with the droid's remarkable speed and agility (a trait not typically associated with droidekas in walking configuration), this latest model boasts an improved combat survival rating of nearly 220%.

With these facts in mind, attempts to simply brute-force this machine will almost certainly end in failure, but there are options for the clever warrior to consider. Given its reliance on Palisade shielding, it must by necessity create small gaps in its protection for its heavy ferro-plasma weapons to fire through. A good enough hit during this brief window might destroy the weapon, or cause an ammunitions cookoff capable of damaging or destroying the droideka.
