Saram's Equipment

Saram cleared the following chamber with her weapon, barely trusting what she could perceive as real. She had no idea that this is what Braze meant when he'd asked her to come earlier. Compartmentalization, there would be time for processing what was happening later, now, she needed to act. To act, she needed a cool head, a rational mind. The room was empty save for 0-7. The poor girl's vitals were all over the place, she had no idea what she'd seen.

<Don't engage,> she finally called out on her communicator. For once, unlike all other times before, there was clear emotion in her voice: fear. <Don't let it near you, it consumes thoughts from the mind. Keep it away from you.>

That message over the comms concerned her enough. What had it been? No time to think of that. Not now. "It isn't here anymore," she said as she scanned the room one more time to be sure of her own words. She rested her rifle's stock on her thigh as she held it by the fore end, reaching out with her other hand to help 0-7 0-7 to her feet, "It's gone. Whatever it was," she added for reassurance. She quickly got on the comms to Braze Braze , "We're clear. Seven's fine, shaken up, but unharmed. Xan alright? Did you get what you came for?"

They would probably need to do a full systems check. Who the shab knew what that thing did to the ship. More importantly, they'd need to sweep the ship to make sure it was safe after this. For now, those could wait, Seven probably needed her help more. She had no idea what she saw to have that sort of a reaction but she wasn't sure if she even wanted to know. "C'mon, to your feet, you're stronger than this," she exhorted further. She didn't know Seven well, but if she hung around Braze then she had to have been made of sterner stuff.

The expedition to New Cov had proven considerably more complicated than Braze had expected.

They had come seeking the forgotten remains of old Jedi records, and in that regard, at least, they had succeeded. Xan had uncovered far more than a handful of ruined dossiers: movements, plans, personnel records, and fragments buried deep within systems that had been left untouched for years. Whatever could be safely preserved would be copied, isolated, and brought back to Dantooine for examination later.

Braze found himself briefly wondering what had become of the Temple's previous owner ( Valery Noble Valery Noble ). The cost of retrieving it had been another matter entirely....

A failsafe buried within the Temple systems had caught Xan, while something else had slipped aboard the Mud Duck in their absence. By the time the immediate danger had passed, the ship had been sabotaged, its inventory records corrupted, and Seven thoroughly shaken by whatever had confronted her there.

Braze had little desire to linger as he sought to gather Xan Deesa Xan Deesa up and bring her aboard as carefully as possible.

Repairs could be made. Files could be sorted. Questions could wait until they were somewhere considerably safer.

Once everyone who could be accounted for was aboard, Braze would see to getting the Mud Duck flight worthy again and leaving New Cov behind.

They had gone looking for the remnants of one mystery…and somehow managed to leave with several more.
