Private A Return to Mygeeto

Continuation from here & here & here

Caden looked down at the planet below them.

Mygeeto had been the place where Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei had first thought he had lost Caden, it had been the place that Caden had truly opened himself up to the force and the place where Caden and Okkeus had first become brothers at arms, the place where Okkeus formed the true bond between himself and his former young Jedi Padawan.

Mygeeto had been second to Corellia on the list of places Caden had expected Okkeus to hide.

Corellia, the obvious choice, was Caden's birth place and the place where he and Okkeus had spent time together. Corellia was a place that Okkeus could have been hiding, he had access to the Evesa home. It held a special place in the heart of both of them, they had repaired and raced X-Wings there, been true friends.

It was the first place Caden had taken his gang of merry men.

Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion was one of his best friends, if anyone was coming on an adventure like this then Caden wanted it to be Mathieu. It wasn't like he had given Mathieu much choice, they'd left soon after Mathieu had found him in Okkeus' apartment on Commenor. Mathieu had been a true friend, where as Okkeus had been like a brother.

Centin Tillo Centin Tillo was a Jedi that Caden had only met a few times, but he was available and he was willing to help find Okkeus. Caden was willing to take anyone that was willing to help. He wanted to find Okkeus, he needed to find the young Jedi Knight and apologize before it was too late, before he lost him forever.

Caden had felt the darkside radiating from Okkeus when the boy had left the Jedi Temple on Commenor. Caden was entirely aware that if he didn't find Okkeus soon, he would lose the young Jedi Knight out of his life entirely. He needed to track down young Okkeus, and he knew exactly where to look for the man.

"You all ready?"

Mathieu did not like killing people. He had much to atone for since his Mercenary days. Despite always striving towards what seemed right and just at the time, the since of the past were catching up to him and weighing heavily on his conscience. Wearing his heavy armour brought back memories which would really best have been left buried. The armour was not the problem, however. The problem was his armament. Like always, the large Morellian carried his practice sword, a stun baton and a blaster. But in his scramble to get his stuff together, he had also picked up his old vibrosword - a deadly weapon which had seen many battles in the past.

His gaze was low whilst his hand sat at the pommel of the sword. They were doing this for a good cause, but the risk of having to kill again weighed him down. Despite being new in the order, his martial upbringing and contracting days meant that he had a good grasp of combat. In a way, even his way of thinking was flawed. 'Killing is a last resort' and yet it was on the top of his mind.

For a few moments, his mind went back to when he found Caden Evesa Caden Evesa in that open room after just having seen Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei rush past. It was heart to see a friend at such a low as Caden had been at and it served as all the more reason to come along and make everything right. If Okkeus was truly on the verge of falling, they needed to save him. Fortunately, Centin Tillo Centin Tillo was there with them - Mathieu already had a good impression of him since they met last and was glad that he would be there with them.

Caden asked if they were ready. Mathieu stood up from his seat and walked over to the younger but more veteran Padawan and put a large hand on his shoulder "Always" Unlike his inner turmoil, the former Mercenary spoke with a steady voice. When the situation called for it, when his allies and friends called for it, he knew how to compose himself. And that was precisely what he would do now. "Come on, let's bring our guy home."

He didn’t come because they were friends.

It’s not as though he didn’t like Caden Evesa Caden Evesa and Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion . He had only had a couple interactions with the pair, and he liked each of them well enough. He saw a bit of himself in Caden, and Mathieu was someone he had grown to admire.

But he didn’t come for them.

He came because it was his chance to help someone save their friend. Something he had failed to do. Something that already haunted him more than any defeat could ever hope to do.

So, when they told him their mission, saving Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei , he didn’t wait for permission from his master to go. The padawan accepted without a second of hesitation. He wasn’t going to fail a second time.

“Yea, I’m ready.” His focus was steady and there wasn’t a trace of nervousness in his voice. He gripped the hilt of his own vibrosaber tightly, ready for whatever may come.

“So, what’s the play? We try to persuade him, and if that doesn’t work we take him?”

Centin looked to Caden for confirmation of the plan.

Silence filled up the Blue Lightning.

He sat in the pilots seat, facing the lounge area. The smell of fresh blood filled his nose. A faint buzz from a fly could be heard. Locating the insect he watched it land the dead body of Darth Tesir.

It was just as the old prophecy said. Once the padawan became more powerful then their master, they killed them. Now he was seeking out for his padawan. It was his turn.

Standing up from the seat he picked up the body with the force. Walking with it floating in front of him he made his way to the back hatch. With his other hand he slammed the button, opening the hatch. When the door rested on the Mygeeto soil he tossed the body out onto the ground. More flies fathered around as the door shut.

Heading back through the ship he found himself back in the pilots seat. Spinning in it he now positioned the viewport. The income ship was not there yet, but he could sense it coming.

It was time for him to gain his new apprentice. Another fine addition to the Sith.

He was supposed to have a plan?

He had nothing, he hadn't even thought of a plan, he had just moved. With how fast everything had happened he hadn't had time to formulate a plan, he hadn't had time to even think of formulating a plan. He was in charge of this mission and he had already failed Mathieu and Centin.

All he did was fail.

He was exhausted and beaten down. He hadn't slept in at least a standard Commenor day, everything had happened too quickly for him to even stop and process any of it. In twenty four hours he had gone from a Padawan to a brave, noble Jedi Knight to nothing, trying to stop that Jedi Knight from turning to the darkness.

"I don't know. I honestly don't know anymore"

The caves where Caden had first encountered the visions of the force lay in front of them. Caden had numerous memories of his time with Okkeus and very few stood out as vividly as Mygeeto. It was where Okkeus thought Caden had died and where Caden proved his strength in the force.

He guided the
ship towards the cave. It was a ship he was unfamiliar with but it was the only ship he could get his hands on at such short notice. He had to tell a few lies to get it of course, few white lies but he was absolutely okay with that if it meant saving Okkeus.

Caden didn't even know how he was supposed to feel anymore.

He looked down, his grey Jedi Robes covering his body, offering him at least some protection. His
lightsaber was at his side. Hopefully it wouldn't require use, but Caden honestly wasn't sure and he wanted it just to be safe. He wanted it in case they failed.

"He can be saved, of that I'm certain"

Caden brought the ship to the ground, sighing as he turned the engines to idle and then to off. The silence was deafening, memories crashing through Caden like a freight train, pain and anger following. Everything had gone so wrong and he was ready to right those wrongs.

His feet slapped against the cool metal of the ship as he exited the craft, walking towards the cave. Whatever happened in that cave, he needed to keep his friends safe. He needed to keep everyone safe, even if he had to give himself to do so.

"Okkeus, where are you?"

The answer to Centin's question was obvious to the large Morellian. Talking was the only real option - the only one which truly followed the light. It made his heart sink when he heard Caden's words. He didn't know?

But then, he mentioned how certain he was that the Knight could be saved "There is always hope. Let us talk to the guy. Convince him to come back" he said, obviously convinced that they would triumph in the end. From what he had heard about Okkeus and Caden, thinking of any of them truly falling seemed all too alien to him. It was simply too unlikely, too far removed from reality. "There is no emotion, there is peace" he quoted the first line of the Jedi code - hoping to remind them that calm minds and a good objective would be good. In truth, Mathieu was a little surprised by himself - a few months back, he couldn't have imagined himself quoting the Jedi code for anything other than a joke. But then, a few months back, he was still a Mercenary.

Soon, the trio landed and debarked. Caden had a good idea of where they were going, or at least so it seemed. Fortunately, Mathieu had brought a flashlight, making it much easier for him to see when having entered the cave. Having no lightsabre, it was good to have another light source. With the small light attached to his shoulder-pad, the new Padawan accompanied his friends deeper and deeper into the cave.

His eyes snapped to Caden as he called out for the Knight. Figuring that hiding his presence would just work to make their mate more suspicious, Mathieu called out for the man soon after "Hey, Okkeus, are you there?" his tone was a friendly one - mistaking it for anything resembling hostile would be hard and require a vivid imagination.

Mathieu recalled the last time he had met the Padawan with whom he was less familiar. Centin had given him a good impression, albeit with a somewhat weird sword exercise of always having it at hand, literally. Thinking that some lighthearted chatter might make the group seem more approachable, he looked to his neighbour, barely seeing him because of the dark and his flashlight still being directed forwards "I sure hope you've got that thing sheathed. Not the time to accidentally bump into things with the pointy end, eh?" he said in a lighthearted joking manner before letting out a soft chuckle.

The trio wandered through the cave, somewhat illuminated by Mathieu’s flashlight. The others called out to Okkeus while Centin remained quiet. He wasn’t sure that his own calls would do anything to help their case.

Better to just let them handle that.

His mind wandered to a recent memory, back to his time on Tython. He rubbed his forearm absentmindedly as the scenes from the duel resurfaced and he grimaced slightly. With a strained effort he tried to push the thoughts from his mind and find his center.

No matter what it wouldn’t happen like that again. In fact, he was sure of it. This time there was backup.

The padawan walked with vibroblade in hand, his attention refocusing for his companion’s timely joke.

“Oh, uh now that you mention it… well let’s just say I hope nothing runs out of the dark too quickly or else it may become a kabob of sorts,” he joked in return.

“Hopefully I won’t have to hold this thing out everywhere I go much longer though. If I’m lucky, soon I’ll just be holding a dormant hilt.”

Centin’s focus had remained on getting his protosaber back or, were he not able to do so, to make a new lightsaber from scratch. The prospect of either outcome filled him with a small bit of excitement.

“By the way Caden, seeing as you’re the only one of us here with a lightsaber, where’d you get your crystal?” he asked, wholly unaware of the unfortunate irony his question contained. “I’m trying to figure out where I might want to get mine.”

As the small ship touched down against the soil, he watched as a trio of men exited the craft. Immediately he recognized Caden. That was a face he would never forget. The second person appeared to be Matheiu, but there was no telling for sure. And for the third man, he was alien to the Jedi. Probably just a friend of that backstabbing Padawan.

They walked across the grassy plain and into the Crystal cave. It was the place where he took Caden to receive his needed Kyber. The memory seemed so distant, so lost. If there was only a...no. What his Padawan did could never be forgiven.

Once the trio fully disappeared into the cave, he decided to gather his things. He stood up out of the pilot's chair, still facing the viewport. Running both hands down his robe he straightened it out. Though he was a Sith, he wanted to look presentable to those he was about to kill. Thus why he would leave the hood down. Turning from the viewport he walked over to a table where his new lightsaber sat. As he picked it up he admired the features of the blade. So beautiful, so elegant. A weapon of war.

With a click he hooked it to his belt. Looking down at the saber he saw blood smeared on it, leftover from Darth Tesir. It slowly started to stain on the hilt, where it would stay forever. Slowly a smile began to appear on his face. Now that ddint sound too bad: Marking the saber with the blood of all his fallen emnemies.

Heading to the ramp he pressed the button to lower it. As it opened and hit the ground he saw the body still there. A few small lizards scurried away from the body once they saw him. But he didn't mind. They could have her if they wanted. Walking forward he stepped over the body, making his way to the cave.

Three new blood stains didn't sound too bad.

He looked around.

The companions he was with were trying to make small talk. He didn't want small talk, he wasn't interested in small talk. He didn't want small talk, small talk wouldn't help them find Okkeus. The small talk wouldn't bring his friend back.

Caden thought when Centin asked where he had gotten his weapon. The irony of Centin's question hurt. The memories of the cave haunted him, he remembered all of it. He remembered how he had sat on the floor, yet to him it felt like so much more.

He looked back behind him.

Twenty steps, tops. That's all they had taken, yet there was absolutely nothing behind them but blackness. He remembered the tricks of the force, the tricks that the cave tended to play. He knew that he wasn't that deep into the cave even though he looked like it.

It was cold, like someone had turned the temperate right now to absolute zero. He wasn't sure if he was shivering, honestly he wasn't sure of anything. He may have had goose bumps, he wasn't sure. He realized in that moment that he couldn't feel any part of his body, he couldn't feel anything except the super chilling cold that was freezing his bones.

He had felt the feeling before, the first time he had entered the cave. It had been the exact same feeling that he had felt the moment he had entered the cave the first time. It was the sign of a powerful darkside user being in the area, something he had felt in the cave before.

"Okkeus is here"

Within seconds, the blink of an eye, his lightsaber with within his hand, yellow blade shooting from the metal hilt. Something felt wrong, something felt very wrong. He was on edge, it made him uncomfortable. Everything felt wrong, everything felt bad.

He turned on his heels.

Mathieu chuckled and shook his head with an amused smile as Centin revealed that he was still carrying his blade unsheathed.

But the mood soon died down. Centin's question to Caden went unanswered and while Mathieu had a hard time seeing why at first, he too started to get the creeping feeling of a dark sided force user being somewhere nearby. It was cause to be careful, but according to Mathieu's own opinion, they should remain careful. His hand went out to those of his friend - not to touch, just to slow down and warn "Yeah, but we're here to talk, right?" he said, hoping that Caden would at least extinguish the blade.

The darkness in the cave almost seemed unnatural - it is why it felt particularly odd that it would be so dark behind them when they had just entered. Regardless, he let out an innocent "We'll talk to him and reason with him, once we..." Mathieu trailed off - because he had just done what Caden just did - he turned on his heels, letting his shoulder mounted flashlight reveal whatever it was that was coming from behind them.

Caden didn’t issue a response to Centin’s question. He figured maybe the padawan hadn’t heard him and was on the verge of repeating himself when he felt a sharp tingle run down his spine.

“Okkeus is here”

Centin didn’t need the announcement to know someone was nearly on them, but he never would have guessed this powerful Force signature could come from the knight. Sure, he had never really met the guy, but even this was beyond anything he would’ve expected. Not to mention how tainted it was with the dark side.

He watched Caden pull out a lightsaber and followed suit, readying his own blade. Mathieu tried to ease the growing tension that Centin noticed building.

“If he wants to talk I’ve got no objections,” he responded to his fellow padawan. He lowered his voice to barely above a whisper, though he didn’t really think that would stop the knight from hearing his next words.

“But you guys say the word and I won’t hesitate.”

He mirrored the others and turned to face whatever lay behind them.

There was a strange feeling that he felt once he stepped into the cave. A warm, welcoming feeling. Something he hadn't felt in a long time. It was very unnatural to him. But he wasn't here to think about his feelings. No, there was much more important matters at hand.

As he contiued deeper into the cave he started to sense the presence of the three force users. Caden was taking the lead. Smart move, since he had experienced the cave before. But that left Mathieu and the other Jedi to defend from the rear, in a place they are unfamiliar with. Not so smart move on their part.

Edging closer he started to hear small fragments of their conversation. Then like a light switch, they stopped. Caden knew he was here. Good. That was what he wanted.

The trio all spun around quickly to face the darksider. His chest and legs were lighten up by Caden's yellow blade. Mathieu's flashlight shined on his upper torso, almost in his face. The third Jedi didn't see, to have a light, but no big deal. He directed his attention towards Caden. Daggers shot from his eyes towards the boy.

"Well isn't this lovely, the two of us back together. Such wonderful memories we had here. And to you as well, Mathieu, always a pleasure. Oh and to you new person, I'm Okkeus, but you won't be needing that information for much longer."

In what seemed like a blink of an eye he pulled out his lightsaber, igniting it in his left hand. Pointing the blade backwards he then charged at Caden, ready to strike.

Caden Evesa Caden Evesa | Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion | Centin Tillo Centin Tillo

Within a second, yellow clashed with red.

Caden and Okkeus met their blades in the center of the cave. The young boy instantly fell into the defensive patterns of form two, instantly fell back to the form that he had learnt with Damian up on the mountains. It was the most confident he was with a lightsaber.

It was extremely clear that Okkeus wasn't interested in talking through the situation. He wanted revenge on Caden, and honestly his former student couldn't blame him. He had messed up, made a serious mistake and it was about to cost him his life.

"Look, I'm sorry!"

His fingers closed tighter around the shaft of his lightsaber, blocking every shot that Okkeus threw at him. Okkeus was always an aggressive lightsaber user where as Caden preferred to fall into the duelist form, use counter attacks and parries.

The issue was, he didn't want to use counter attacks and parries. He didn't want to hurt Okkeus for his own mistakes. All he could do was use the yellow plasma of his blade to deflect the shots that Okkeus was aiming at him, throwing at him.

Caden fell back on the defensive and hoped Mathieu and Centin could get free.

Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion | Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei | Centin Tillo Centin Tillo

It seemed like they were past the point of talking.

Mathieu had already given his objections and he was fully aware of what phase they had entered now. He held his vibrosword up defensively - but he was not the target of Okkeus' attacks. Caden was the one who received what could only be described as a vicious flurry of strikes and shots. The former Mercenary watched as his friend kept falling back whilst Okkeus pushed on. Whether the fallen Knight was letting his emotions fuel him or not, it certainly looked like it from his point of view.

The large Morellian started to creep closer to the dark sider and made sure to keep his blade in front of him in order to not get caught by a stray blade. He kept careful eye contact with Centin and signalled that he was going to put his weapon away. Mathieu waited until the other Padawan was in a position to keep Okkeus' blade occupied before he sprung to action.

It was not a long distance which had to be covered, but diagonally from behind, Mathieu sprinted up and tried to tackle his foe to the ground. It would hurt - Mathieu was well built and rather heavy - but it would also not kill the guy and if all went right, he'd loose his blade in the process. This was, of course, the best case scenario, there were still plenty of things Okkeus could do to defend himself beforehand.
