A New Start {Ven Loses her Memories}

FONDOR:
Cress City, Apartment District
Drugs did their job. Calming nerves, slowing thoughts, and soothing rage. Twenty nine years of pain couldn't counteract the chemicals pulsing through her veins. Thanks to science, the mad merc was free. Free from mental chains that had once bound her. Now Kairo had left her past behind, focusing on one thing: The present. It was simpler now, without having to try and subdue emotions and memories. The change had took some time, of course, and not all easily adjusted to the reformed mercenary. There were still many who watch her with cold, wary eyes.
As always, there were those who called her a demon. Saying her yellow eyes were marks of a devil. Prior to her medication, she would have showed them how right they were.
But these days? A chuckle is all they get in reply.
The Protectorate was her family, and Kairo worked harder then ever to help them as they had helped her. In time she had been able to afford a better apartment, one with a nice view. On her off work days she worked at Telja's Tats, the tattoo shop she co-owned. Business was often slow, due to heavy competition, but was still enjoyable. Moving one's hand in slow, repeated patterns can be quite calming, as the merc had learned. Especially turns of the wrist required for abstract designs. Ever flowing, moving across the skin in such a delicate matter... Just the thought brought a grin to her face.
Kairo was a changed woman.
-----------------------------------------
"Night Telja! See you in a few days. Gotta do a job for OP. Try not to burn the place down while I'm gone," Kairo joked. Thin lips were pursed into sly smile, smoothed out over her facial features. Combat boots hit the ground softly, letting out quiet thuds with each step. A light breeze caused the merc to pull her jacket closer. Perhaps it hadn't been the best day to wear a tank top. Soon Kairo would be at her speeder, and the heater would warm her bones up.
Maybe even clear the odd sense of dread that hung in the night air. Had the feeling arose before her change, she would have stopped. Checked every system in her speeder, kept a gun in her hands at all times, and triple locked her apartment door. Unfortunately for her, and many others, drugs convinced her to ignore her gut. So Kairo merely shook her head and started to head home.
Music came out of the radio, blocking the upset hum of the engine. Once again mediation partially blocked her pilot's instincts. Slowing her speed was her only reaction, one only her subconscious had an explanation for. Later investigation would find that this action saved Kairo's life. However it wasn't enough to stop what was coming. As Ven'Rain would have said: Fate always seems to win.
A roar was unleashed as multiple subsystems failed. Every muscle in the merc's body was now screaming at her, wishing to pull maneuver after maneuver in a futile attempt to regain control. The speeder started to spin, the steering gone wild. Without the engine functioning the whole vehicle started to drop. Gears seemed to scream as they plummeted towards the ground. Safety systems kicked in last second, trying to decrease damage sustained. It wasn't enough to cushion the force of a two-ton speeder hitting the street. But instead of Kairo crashing straight into the controls, she was thrown to the side, her head's descent slowed to some minor degree.
Fire erupted from the speeder, and medics were alerted via its emergency functions. A few nearby citizens stopped to help, and pulled the merc's bleeding body out of the wreckage. There were cuts and scrapes along her arms and legs, along with a gash across her forehead. Further inspection would find numerous broken bones. The worst of the damage wouldn't be discovered until later.
Part of Kairo's brain had been compromised. There was a good chance that she would start suffering from amnesia.
--------------------------------------
Time had passed. Long, quiet nights. For the merc had not awakened. Her heart still beat, her lungs still sucked in air, and her cells remained active. Only she remained in sleep. Endlessly still, unmoving. Practically dead. Doctors had agreed, it was a trauma induced coma. They had taken her off life support, but still monitored her. No one was sure if she'd wake up, or when she might. Visitors were allowed, as investigations had proved no foul play had been involved.
Most had been old military buddies, friends from darker times. A few of her tattoo clients had come in, thanking her once more before setting a small gift or handful of credits on the table. Once or twice someone from her apartment complex had come in, only trying to get out of the cold. They had been shooed away quietly and quickly.
Sea'Rain, Kairo's mother, had started staying at a nearby hotel. Most days she sat next to her daughter, crying silent tears.
The room's decor didn't help. Tan walls were adorned with locked cabinets, most blocked with machines that uttered constant beeps. In one corner was a sad little plant of unknown origins. It had been ignored by the nurses, and the leaves had started to turn brown and break off. Some of the posters regarding rules and procedures on the walls had started to peel off, and went untouched.
A sleeping patient required little assistance, it seemed.
-----------------------------------------
Today had started out as always. Sea'Rain had returned to her daughter, a nurse made sure all machines were properly arranged and in order, then other visitors were allowed to enter. Some would simply pay their respects, while others wished to speak to Sea about their neutral friend. The day held many opportunities, as every one did.

@[member="Ven'Rain Sekairo"]. The name was forever seared in Circe's mind for the work she had done to assist the woman with prosthetics and the like. A valuable mercenary - and a close friend - that had dropped off the map.

Until recently.

And that was why Circe, in full doctor regalia, had come in to spend a day with the lovely hybrid of a woman she had helped forge from mind-maddened mercenary to sound-minded businesswoman. She had heard about the accident and was here to help the woman recover to the best of her abilities. Right now, the only thing she could do was figure out how to get Ven out of a coma and back awake again - she was losing muscle and her body was growing quite inactive.

"Come on, Ven... Wake up..."

Footsteps alerted Sea'Rain. The woman's back was to the door, so she assumed Circe was another visitor. Nurse rarely came in. When they did it was around set times to double check vitals or finish recording them. Sometimes, though not very often, a doctor would greet visitors, explain Kairo's injuries, and then leave. Most learned about the accident from Sea, who willingly spoke of her nearly dead daughter.
"Were you a friend of Ven's? Or Kairo I should say... Her friends call her Kairo these days..." Sea's voice was soft, pained. Anyone who knew Kairo would say she shared her mother's sound. They may have spoken with different words, but it seemed to be the same otherwise.
Quietly she turned to look at Circe, blue eyes welcoming the guest.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile something stirred in Ven'Rain. Deep in her something seemed to realize Circe was there. A signal was sent to her brain, searching for information on the visitor. But that information was locked away, if not erased. Confusion jolted her subconsciousness, and the merc's mind went back to sleep, not yet ready to awaken.

Isis walked from the luxury speeder and into the badly decorated hospital as she wore an all black mesh outfit and as she donned the familiar presence of a force warrior, as she walked in she had her mind set to pay her respects to an old friend that she had barely seen in recent years due to growing apart and finding out finally she was hospitalized due to an accident, one that Isis had seen in a dream when she was a Jedi Padawan... One that would alter events in the history of the force, and one that would prove to pave a new life for the current participant.... Kairo!

As she walked down the marble floor she made her way to the reception desk and found it was packed, she found the only way to know where Kairo was was through the nurses desk which was currently packed with reporters and doctors and nurses, somehow she got word of ear that some type of accident occurred that made all the bottom feeders swell in numbers at the hospital, but this day she would need to wait for a nurse or doctor to see where he old friend was.

(OOC Note: I'll make it to the room soon, just wanted to get a post in before I log off for the night)

"I was her employer. And her friend. She went missing a while back, and I have no idea what happened to her. I'm not going to let her die because of this." Bending over the former Imperial supporter, Circe gave a soft smile, taking her hand and placing it on the forehead of the unconscious near-Human, attempting to touch whatever consciousness left in Ven'Rain to the surface.

"Come on, Ven... Wakey wakey..."

Some people leave impressions on others that last a lifetime. Ventasia always detested such a thing. The thought that someone's simple actions could leave such an imprint was disturbing, to say the least. But, oddly enough, ot was this that had happened to her. Though, even with her supposed hatred of such a thing, she didn't fight it. In actuality, she had made friends with the woman. And friends weren't something she had many of, even now.

Striding down the hall, the heels of her boot made a constant clicking against the ground, effectively announcing her presence. It had been a while since she'd seen one of the few people she called friends. But this day apparently had more than one turn. In the room she was heading to stood another significant being. The woman who's name had crossed her desk so many times, it drove her insane. The same woman who she'd been collecting information on since at least a year ago, Circe. Sadly, she wouldn't know the woman if she saw her, though she had plenty of info on her.

Nonetheless, the clicking of her heels stopped as she reached the door to the room, leaning onto the door frame as she glanced inside. "Looks like she hasn't woken up yet. Good. I'm early."

Isis was now headed toward the room after choking a few nurses almost to death to reveal the information, as she neared the room she seen a read haired girl leaning against the frame and smirked as she approached, the girl was obviously in the know about Kairo and whoever else was in the room, as Isis got up to the door using stealth while being too quiet she looked at the girl and spoke Do you mind not blocking the door, people have things to get done she spoke as she smirked at her and then used her senses to infiltrate the room where she found a familiar within.

A sort of smile spread onto Sea'Rain's lips at the words. She had always worried about her daughter. Getting to see that Ven had friends was always a relief. Of course she wished their meetings were on better terms. After all, near death accidents aren't exactly cheery. The 54 year old watched visitors with curiosity, wondering about the life of Ven she hadn't been there for. Most had made it seem tragic... But the girl in front of her now seemed different. Sea hoped it meant she represented the positive pieces of her daughter.
"She's a tough one... She'll live. I have no doubt of it. As much as I hate it, I believe she's been through worse..." Her voice trailed off, and her gaze shifted to the last dying flower in the corner. Soft pink swirls had once reached a center of blue there. "I'll leave you two alone," Sea added. Quietly she gave Circe one last smile before leaving, passing Ventasia as she went.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anger. What little consciousness was awake didn't enjoy being prodded. More slowly awoke, trying to figure out what was bothering it. Once again the touch felt familiar, but once again memories failed. Though on the outside Ven looked like she was sleeping, or even dead, internally everything was chaotic. Circe's nudge had initiated a domino effect. Just a little more, and the mad merc might awake. But her military trained mind was doing everything it could to shut Circe out.

Isis.

Ordinarily, Circe would've been pleased to have Isis here. But recently, the woman had begun to show signs of beef with the green-skinned woman. The rationale eluded Circe, but she merely assumed it was the Sith poison attempting to redirect itself and take control of her particularly fragile mind. It also didn't help that a woman Circe clearly knew to be a very close friend of her former wife was currently standing in the doorframe.

"Ven, wake up... You're going to be needed soon, needed for a great battle on my behalf. I can't do it without you... Ven, please. Arise from your slumber."

Her body remained as it was, even as she heard an unfamiliar voice in her ear. Ventasia simply remained standing, her eyes locked onto the body of the sleeping mercenary. Though, her eyes drifted towards the woman who seemed adamant to wake her, no matter what.

The one who'd just spoken into Ventasia's ear seemed to posses some degree of grace, as she slipped by and into the room. Her eyes remained on the woman, gaze never faltering as she spoke to the one so desperate to wake Rain. "Yeah...ever get the feeling that she knows your there? Maybe that's why she doesn't care to wake up. After all, I'd want to stay asleep too if you were the first thing I was going to see when I awoke. Just a thought." It was no wonder she had few actual friends in the galaxy. This was her way of making an introduction.

Nonetheless, there they all stood almost as if awaiting a sleeping princess. The thing is, this princess was surrounded by three women, at least two with alpha-type personalities. To say the room had tension was a massive understatement.

@[member="Circe Savan"] @[member="Ven'Rain Sekairo"] @[member="Isis Fontana"]

Obviously the red haired woman had moved out of the way since Isis now was apparently inside the room, as Isis remained she looked at Rain and then smirked at @[member="Circe Savan"] and then looked at the woman she once had known but had grown without, even if it was in the force.. The woman who probably wouldn't remember the spit fire dark jedi of a woman.

The mad merc most likely wouldn't remember the spit fire in front of her, but Isis surely remembered her, as she looked at Circe she spoke with clear denial Nice to see you once more. how is she? Isis asked as if she was distant from them all.

Something seemed to click into place. Pieces of her brain that had been asleep started to wake up, mental gears turning once more. As they did the anger faded, transforming into a mass of confusion. Only a few memories remained, none that explained the current situation. Who was prodding Ven's mind? Why did they feel familiar? And what the bloody hell happened to make her get such a headache?
The cerebrum of her brain pulled knowledge out of some abyss, and made a guess that part of the temporal lobes had been damaged. It would account for the lack of memories, and could induce some speech problems. Finally the cerebellum woke up. A signal was sent, and the merc's right hand clenched itself into a fist, trying to bite back the pain.
A few more systems needed to awake. Then the mad merc will return.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yellow eyes opened slowly before scanning the room. Logic told Ven she was in a hospital. But logic had no answer to the question of who her companions were. One looked like a nurse or doctor... the others seemed like regular people. For a moment the merc wondered if they were in the wrong room. But something about the way they looked at her told her otherwise.
"W-Who are y-you guys?" Ven asked, her voice coming out in a quiet stutter.
@[member="Circe Savan"], @[member="Ventasia Terana"], @[member="Isis Fontana"]

And she awoke. There wasn't much more to say - it truly had been perfect timing. The only issue was, well... Ven had no idea who she was. She seemed cognizant of her own identity as @[member="Ven'Rain Sekairo"], but seemed utterly clueless as to the identities of the three women who had come to visit her. Knowing that @[member="Ventasia Terana"] would likely pull out a weapon and attack her with it then and there, Circe chose the safe route: she would formulate an illusion of herself, then step over to the room's corner, it never looking like she moved away at all.

"You don't remember me? Your employer at Subach-Innes? The one who gave you your biofiber prosthesis that the Omega Pyre likely sliced and diced at to learn how to reverse-engineer it? The only green-skinned person you know, who brought you the evidence showing that Cira and her cronies lied about the Ewok incident."

In her real hand, she held the holocron Spencer had created for her. She had considered fashioning it into a necklace in the past.

Who knew what would be next?

@[member="Isis Fontana"]

Three short blinks marked Ven's continued confusion. None of the data she was getting connected with the few remaining memories. How was she supposed to know who Circe was, when she couldn't even remember her own last name? The merc frowned slightly, feeling lost. Before gathering a response she sat up, wanting to be able to look at those she was speaking to. For a moment she seemed surprised by her own height, as if she wasn't used to using her own body.
"The only thing I remember is my first name and a password to something... Are... are you sure you have the right person?" Ven's voice shook as she spoke. Apparently her frontal lobes were still a little tired. "I mean... I'm Ven'Rain something. You sure you weren't looking for a Val'Rain? I think I might have met one of those once..."
Reaching her right hand up to her temple, the merc rubbed the skin gently. Pain medications had worn off, and the headache she had was anything but pleasant. A monitor to her side indicated that her heart rate was slightly elevated, likely due to stress.

Muffled footsteps rang out in the corridor, black combat boots came down softly against the pristine floors. A sterility hung in the air, a trademark of hospitals and medical facilities, giving the uniformed man another reason to despise his location. A hand ran through short, cropped, blonde hair as a heavy sigh of disdain was released. Dranok Lussk was swiftly tromping down the hallway, his specialty in Mind Control working wonders on curious medical staff to send them elsewhere or just ignore the military man. To the average eye, he looked just like a soldier, golden Admiral's bars flashing upon his collar. However, this man was here based on a hunch. One particular Prophet Knight of his, @[member="Isis Fontana"], had departed Fringe space with talks of meeting someone on Fondor. Fondor, an Omega Pyre controlled world, gave the Lord Admiral the assumption that her antics were up to no good and so he made haste to follow her.

His tracking was undetected, his presence masked the entire duration that'd he touched down in his freighter. Dranok had come alone, save for the bodyguard droid angrily waiting back at the ship who had been ordered to stay and wait for its master's return. Oh how Dranok adored that droid, capable of frying a loudmouth when needed and perfectly capable of speaking in almost every language know to the galaxy. But these tales of adventure were for another time. The man tucked his memories into the back of his mind as his golden eyes shimmered with the detection of several grouped Force users. The Force flowing in and out of these several beings directed his attention towards a pair of them, both uncharacteristically familiar whilst the other one not. At last, sat a signature that hung on the brink of existence, a wounded being.

The man mentally shrugged at the detection, merely keeping his Force Cloak erected as he reached his destination, cocking his built figure inside to lean against door's frame.

"Oh. A password, Ven? How mysterious. Any idea what it's for? Maybe you rid something that's important and locked it away under a voice printed ID. Or not. Who knows? One thing for sure, it's good to see those eyes open again. I'm almost tempted to say I missed them. Almost."
Ventasia's eyes flashed to both of the other women in room, examining both for a but a moment. On the surface, it appeared that all of them had the now awoken Ven'Rain's best interest at heart. She knew what she was here for, but what had brought these others along at such a particular time? What business did they have with Ven? It struck her as odd. Not to mention she didn't believe in coincidences. These two wanted something. But what? The situation only got worse as yet another body arrived, positioning himself against the opposite door frame as she herself had done. Her eyes drifted towards him, lingering for a moment before looking into the room once more. "And who are?"

@[member="Circe Savan"] @[member="Dranok Lussk"] @[member="Ven'Rain Sekairo"] @[member="Isis Fontana"]

Isis seen Kairo open her eyes and then heard her response to them all, it was such a weird moment and for them to be handling it like this was even more strange. As the now awake Ven'Rain spoke to them Isis wondered how long her act would remain, that's just if it is an act...or is it?

As she remained near the bed she smirked at Ven'Rain and spoke to her So all you remember is your first name, and a passcode of some sorts? but you truly don't know who any of us are? she questioned Kairo about the fact her memory seems a little hazy.

When yet another person arrived, Ven let out a slightly annoyed sigh. Then she froze up, seemingly shocked by her own reaction to the situation. More people she didn't remember did make the event more uncomfortable. But part of her thought she would be calm about it, friendly. An annoyed sigh was the last thing she had been expecting. Which was quite... odd. The merc shook her head to clear her thoughts before looking back up at those gathered.
"Perhaps it's for a data log of some sort? The password I mean," Ven said, her voice tinted with hope. Recovering her memories was top priority to her, even if it was highly unlikely. "The Raven's Wing Flies No More, Arise a Victor... You take that, then replace the letters with numbers. It becomes 1h3 R4v3n's W1n9 Fl13s N0 M0r3, 4r1s3 4 V1c10r. T's and I's become ones, E's become threes, A's become fours, and O's become zeroes. The rest remain the same... That and my first name, Ven'Rain, is all I remember. Well, besides how to speak and stuff. People rarely forget that, seeing as it's so hardwired into their brains... So, no. None of you seem familiar. I'm sorry if we knew each other or something..." The merc's voice hung in the air, followed by a quiet sigh.
Old friends would see an old habit return as she bit her lower lip gently, tugging slightly at the skin. It was something she had done for as long as anyone could remember. Doctors might say it was related to her anxiety, which was partially true, but she seemed to do it even when all was well. Another quirk returned as her eyebrows furrowed, as they always did when she concentrated hard. Ven was racking her brain, trying to see if there was anything, even if it was fleeting, that she could remember.
Ah, there was one thing.
"Someone... Someone touched my thoughts before I awoke. I don't know who, but they seemed... familiar. So I guess I sort of remember one of you. I just don't know who."
@[member="Circe Savan"], @[member="Isis Fontana"], @[member="Ventasia Terana"], @[member="Dranok Lussk"]

"Um... That was me. I brought you out of your coma." Circe worriedly looked her friend over, raising an eyebrow. "I have a hunch as to what's happened, but I'll need a scanner helmet to check it."

Motioning to a nurse walking through the hallway, she whispered into her ear. "Get me a scanning helmet and a neuro-stimulator. We have a patient who's just recovered from brain damage and I'd like to see if anything's happened to her lobes."
