A New Star Rises (Kaeshana Confederation)

Anya Venari

Star Queen Tirathana VII
Character
It started out as a normal day on Kaeshana, homeworld of the Eldorai, and base of Firemane Industries.

Princess Anya Venari was at the Firemane industries HQ outside Santaissa. There, along with @[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] and Tegaea Alcori and others it was just a normal day.

That is...until the trouble started....

@[member="Anya Venari"]

Kaeshana, despite often being plagued by great storms and rainfalls, which were thankfully absent on this day, was a beautiful planet. From the Firemane Headquarters, less imposing than the Omega Pyre Towers but still a site to behold, one had a brilliant view of the beautiful city of Santaissa, an intriguing mixture of technological advancement while still feeling organic, measured, reminiscent of Naboo in a way. In the distance one could see vast mountain ranges rising up into the sky, even further there was the ocean that covered most of the planet and in Eldorai mythology was seen the realm of the Goddess Tyth.

Inside the Firemane building, as the rays of the sun fell through the transparisteel windows, hectic activity was taking place as the employees, many of them Eldorai, though also with a sizeable human contingent, went about their business. The company was far from being one of the corporate giants in the Galaxy, but was on the rise. It dealt in weapons, the ones that had made the Pyre a power and brought the Bando Gora to their knees, and had made inroads into mining after a profitable deal with Judah Dashiell regarding deep sea mining. Its owners were confident that through arrangements with Silk Holdings to provide the security forces to patrol the Mara Corridor, along with getting the shipping giant to help them build war vessels of their own, they would soon ascend.

True, there were attacks from Eldorai radicals, Dashdae Eldorai, who despised the idea that 'human monkeighs' could hold influence on Kaeshana, seen as the world of the chosen people, and derided the Queen as a puppet, but so far their attacks had been small scale and easily beaten. Thus it was with an air of optimism that Siobhan Kerrigan, former commander of Omega Pyre, former Exarch of the Protectorate, left her office, after having worked through some matters concerning reverse-engineering the tech she had acquired while participating in a Rebel raid on Styx, relieving the Sith remnant of some nice toys.

She was dressed in a shiny black women's business suit that gave her an authoritative yet elegant look, her dark brown hair, usually worn long done up. In her hand she carried a suit case that carried...items of an unspecified nature, though somehow there was reason to assume it did not contain files about tax audits. Her unignited lightsabre dangled at her side...she was not the sort to go out unprepared, though she could bring down a wall with her mind. Elegant flat shoes shun as the sunlight reflected of them. She gave Anya and Tegaea smiles as she passed them, peeking into her redheaded wife's office.

"Right. I think I've got through the paperwork," she made a face before continuing. "Our boys in Munitions are reporting progress and we should have the factory up soon. Gonna call in some extra Eldorai troops for security, just in case some zealots see the need to purge the 'monkeighs'. Got an, uh,...private audience scheduled with Silaqui now. Not so long, I'll be back soon," at that she winked at Anya before giving Tegaea a deep kiss, letting her hand trail down her wife's back. Audience indeed, that was what it would be. "Everything fine on your end, love?" she asked fondly as she beheld her.

Suddenly! ((And Siobhan gave me greenlight on Skype to do this!))
The door to the room opened as clamoring was heard, in entered the tall dark grey figure of aging droid, clad in armor, cascading cloak, and traditional Jedi robes. He was surrounded by guards holding ion blasters who clamored and tried to order him to stop moving, seemingly the droid was ignoring them.
"Hello! It is I, Metal Demon, I am back."
One of the guards, captain of the squad it seems, turned to Siobhan, Anya, and Tegs, speaking up
"We tried to stop him but ions don't seem to be working!"

Tegaea held up her hand to stop the guard. "He's with us," she explained. Going over to HK she shook his hand. "It's great to see you back, HK! I was wondering where you'd got to! I wanted to talk to you though about getting your assistance for Firemane on a strictly limited basis of course. My wife is heading to the palace to see the Queen, did you want to go with her and see how things are going?"

Tegaea herself was eager to do something else than endless accounts and filing which seemed to be her lot in life. She did have an appointment with a promising young Eldorai officer later, so it wasn't all bad!

"I have married you and sang at your wedding, Exarch Alcori, we are beyond handshake at this point."
And he would pull her closer with all the might of his metal muscles and pneumatic motors, yeah, after all that she was getting hugged in that cold, lifeless, metal embrace.
He would look up towards Kerrigan
"You are next, Ever-Colonel."
He gave Tegs a good nice squeeze

Seeing that everything was in order, the captain and the Firemane guards, all former Omega Pyre personnel, turned away and returned to their duties. A look of timeless irritation crossed Siobhan's face and she grumbled at HK deliberately getting their past titles wrong. Unlike certain other people he did not do so out of amnesia about the time they had spent ruling the Protectorate - or their present positions - but simply because he had always done so!

It had pissed her off to no end on Gehenna. "I did miss your singing. Kept your painting though," she said, unable to suppress a short smile. Said painting hung in their bedroom in their rather luxurious villa. Before the combat droid - the Omegan droid she liked, whereas two certain terminatrices just made her feel even more murderous than usual - could pull her into his cold embrace she stepped forward and hugged him of her own volition!

"It's good to see you again, HK. Been a while. Lot's happened. How you been?" she spoke, gaze flickering over to Tegaea for a moment. A Sith assassination attempt on her wife's life had forced her retirement due to the injuries sustained after said assassin, an old enemy, had been battering rammed to death Siobhan. That was the official, sanitised story for the media, the truth was more gruesome. Firemane was the company they had founded in the aftermath, away from the great power politics. In other news, the Sith Empire had fallen apart, or had they? Not their Problem right now.

How the profanity noises a bunch of monkeighs managed to set up shop directly on Kaeshana without getting scared off in a show of torches and pitchforks, Shriastae would never know. Even less did she understand how they seemed to be having quite a bit of success with it. It might have been some sort of alien secret, of course, but Shri wasn't so arrogant as to discount the possibility that she simply hadn't given enough of a crap about humans to actually look into it.

At least she hadn't before now, anyway. Her time at Tsivian Kalas was over, and now she had the most enviable commission on all of Kaeshana waiting for her. She was an Angelii...recruit, at least. Any part of her that had hoped that her training would have been finished when she left the academy was squashed the moment she reported for her first day in the court of the Star Queen herself. Ceremony, meeting, formal acceptance, and then thirteen solid hours of training. The full Angelii - the real Angelii - she'd been training with seemed to take some sort of vile pleasure in showing her just how green she was. The bruises still hadn't healed.

With the induction and training of an Angelii warrior came responsibilities as well, and Shri found herself even more tired than she'd been after that first day simply by merit of how many different missions errands she'd been sent on. Testing the ranks, walks through the barracks, touring the palace and city itself...it was barely any more than busy work. An argument could be made for knowing the lay of the land, sure, but godsdammit Shri was getting tired of all of this running around! She was a soldier, not an errand girl!

Today, the only thing on the young aspirant's schedule seemed to be a meeting with those monkeighs who had the gall to live among Eldorai. She knew next to nothing about them (and yet again had to bite her tongue and admit how important it might be that she remedied that deficiency) and really had no interest at all in their dealings, but orders were orders. Star Queen's will be done.

Finally resolved to get up and do something with her day, Shri straightened her uniform and tightened her belt around her waist. The comfortable weight of her sarix felt almost longing today, since she probably wouldn't be using it at all. With a sigh, she closed the door to her dorm and made for the speeders. Ah, well. At least she could hope for a rematch against that arrogant Catain Kilea later.

Crown Princess Anya Venari watched from the background, not interfering.

She remembered @[member="HK-36"] very well, him having helped her sister ascend the throne. He was a valuable and useful ally, and she enjoyed his company.
Still, she had work to do, and she had decided that if @[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] and HK went to see the Queen she would go with them to see her sister. There were some things that needed to be discussed.

And then she remembered that the liasion officer, a new Angelii, would be coming over. Seeing Tegaea was busy, she decided to meet the new officer herself. It might cushion the shock if the girl was not used to humans to meet with one of her own. @Shriastae Tivale

"I have been to farthest reaches of this galaxy, wandering and getting lost, often found and taught new tricks. I also received a promotion so to say, I became known as the Witch King among inhabitants of some forgotten planet."
He would give them one more huggle for good measure before releasing them from his pincers of affection
"It is good to be back in these parts, and I am glad to see that Abregado has not been razed during my absence."
He would nod to Anya in greeting
"I suppose I will join you to see the Queen, I hope locals have forgotten that during my last visit I drove a bolt through their ruler's leg."
That was fun day sure enough
"As for my services, all you need is ask, I am a servant to the Protectorate buy I am your friend still."

Tegaea nodded. She was less enthusiastic about the Protectorate, but she could appreciate loyalty and would not question it.
"Excellent, I'll come with you. Witch King, huh? Nice name!" She looked to Anya. "Mind the shop, would you? I'm going to see the Queen with Siobhan and HK."
Anya withheld, with difficulty, a snide comment about her sister's liking for foursomes, and just nodded. "I'll be here."

Speeders were a thing. Like just about everything else, from history texts to starfighters to planetary defense turrets to making a decent meal, Shri had been pushed to learn as much about them as possible. Fortunately, she'd managed to garner slightly better marks on her driving tests than she had on her cooking tests, and in the rare moments that she had that didn't involve training or learning or drilling or blah blah blah, the girl occasionally indulged herself with a joyride. Kaeshana's rocky terrain made for an interesting obstacle course...

...So maybe she could have been forgiven for taking her time getting there. Shriastae took her speeder bike on almost a full lap of Santaissa, just for the hell of it, before she finally altered her course towards the directions she'd been given. Considering Tsivian Kalas had been located outside the city and when she had been admitted she wasn't even old enough to be done with primary school yet, the novelty of some of the less central areas of Santaissa (the Firemane compound, for instance) still had yet to wear off for her. Plus, she'd take every moment of flirting with dangerously close turns around the white stone buildings of the capital city that she could get.

Eventually, though, the young Angelii ran out of excuses. And terrain. She slid her speeder to a stop outside a building that seemed entirely alien compared to the rest of the city. But then, what else could she expect from a bunch of aliens? As she dismounted, Shri fixed her hair and pulled it back into a proper tail, in an attempt to look at least partially respectable and not like she'd just raced around Santaissa at terminal speed. "Welp...here goes nothing."

For her part Siobhan had been strongly disillusioned by the Protectorate for a variety of reasons. But then the only person she followed was Tegaea, the only one she trusted like that. So she could appreciate loyalty. She gave Tegaea an amused look as she declared her intent. If Tegaea wanted to escape filing accounts and paperwork, Siobhan could not complain because she loathed it.

Fortunately, her position in Firemane as vice president came with very few administrative tasks. Her duties lay...in other areas. "Great. The more the merrier. Sila has been wanting to see you, love," she gave Tegaea a fond look then gestured to her and HK to follow. "Witch king, you gotta tell me about how that happened?" It was certainly a nicer name than Butcher, but then Siobhan did deserve that title.

Normally Siobhan would have used the Force to propel her into the air and fly - she did not need wings to do that, telekinesis mastery coming in handy, as energy intense as it was - but HK was there and despite Siobhan's repeated attempts at persuasion Tegaea would not go flying with her. It was really perfectly safe, she just had to hold on tight and Siobhan would never let her fall! Though, upon reflection, she could understand. Instead she guided her wife and her newly returned friend to a fancy speeder, opening it up for Tegaea first and then embarking.

"Simple."
He answered to Siobhan
"They have never seen a lightsaber before I wielded one. Sorcery is rather easy when one can siege castles with just a wrist blaster and electro-gloves."
He followed Siobh and Tegs to the speeder, climbing aboard with them
"It was a brief stay, and I tried not to sow too much chaos, but those things happen from time to time."
He watched the terrains of Kaeshana as they flew by them
"So, the Firemane company?"

Anya was at her desk when the new Angelii entered, shown in by one of the Firemane guards. The Eldorai was young...very young indeed, but Anya approved of the way she carried herself and the Sarix at her side.
She smiled and approached. "Greetings, Shriastae, I am Anya Venari," she said in Eldarai. The girl probably knew she was the Crown Princess, but Anya had not made an issue of it. After all she didn't want to get Silaqui concern that her little sister was intriguing against her.
In Galactic Basic, which she knew the girl would have to speak to be assigned here, she continued. "Welcome to Firemane. You are our new liasion I believe?"

@[member="HK-36"], @[member="Tegaea Alcori"]

"Remind me to tell you about that one time where I was throwing Lucrehulks...with my mind. And, well, while being super-charged via force meld," Siobhan quipped. Funny what could happen when the Confeds dropped capital ships on a planet out of sulkiness...it had forced her to team up with Fringe force masters. The Galaxy was really suffering from alignment disorder.

"Yeah, it's our semi-retirement plan," she answered her friend's question as she briefly looked over at Tegaea, giving her hand squeeze before focusing on steering the craft. Air traffic in Santaissa was a good deal less intense than in say the industrial city on Fondor, certainly less than Coruscant, but the fact that the elves had been enjoying the fruits of opening up their markets and acquiring foreign tech could clearly be seen. Not all were happy with these changes.

"Needed something to do after...leaving the Protectorate, as having fun with no work is! Something more manageable." Siobhan could not know whether HK had heard the holonews about the assassination attempt...in any case it did not seem like something to talk about now. "Mainly does weapons manufacturing and makes tech, we've also ventured into mining and provide military contracting services. Sila gave us permission to settle here, we prop the elves up." Among other things Firemane was the company that made bolters. It also had a certain relationship with the Rebels, whom Siobhan had accompanied on missions here and there.

Of course they had their own guards. They'd have to, considering how few Eldorai would actually risk their lives for a bunch of monkeighs. Shri gave them a once-over as she was escorted in, checking the quality of foreign warriors as much as she was actually making sure she had the edge in case she needed to get violent with them at some point. At first blush it felt like she had the edge, but the young Eldorai realized that was probably just the arrogance she'd been raised into.

Why paranoia? Because elf, that's why.

Fortunately, when she got inside, she was greeted with a much more relaxing view. Shriastae did a quick bow when she approached her hostess, resting her off-hand on her sarix for proper ceremony. "Well met, Anya Venari," she replied in proper Eldarai, then continued in heavily accented Basic entirely for the benefit of the guards and any concealed recorders. "I've been assigned to liaise with you and your superiors, yes. Though I admit I don't know a lot about economics or politics, so I'm not certain how useful I'll be to you."

"Go figure."
The droid said, sitting back and folding his hands on his lap, hiding them in large sleeves of his robe.
"Your definition of retirement is mining, crafting, and going back to being a mercenary."
He shook his head slightly
"Only in Alcori's dictionary is that possible."

He looked back to Siobh as he calculated something to ask
"How have the Space Elves been handling since our last visit? Any more political turmoil?"

Anya personally considered her lack of knowledge in such areas was a good thing. Having been raised with the sycophants and Byzantine courtiers of her mother's court she felt a distinct preference for those who were not venal and backstabbing.
"It's quite alright, Shriastae. You're mainly here for two reasons. The first is to make sure everything is above board, and the second is that we have someone to ask in case Lady Alcori needs advice. Also, it was an unspoken assumption that I would help continue your training as an Angelii...at least in the Sciiac areas anyway!"

Well now, they weren't asking much...but then, that was exactly what Shriastae was concerned about. This wasn't exactly the sort of thing you'd dispatch one of a scant few hundred elite soldiers to do. It was a good guess that she probably wasn't trusted yet, considering how much of a fast track she'd had through primary school and academy. Anya's comment about helping her with her training was pretty much a confirmation in that sense.

Still, she needed to be polite. She was a representative now. "Well, I certainly could use all of the help I can get, I suppose. I seem to have been volunteered for further training anyway." It was really annoying to be discriminated against and doubted because she was too young for her position, but Shri really couldn't fault them for it. "That might be a problem in its own way, Miss...uh..."

And then it hit her.

"Wait, Anya Venari?" Gods, she had been locked up in the academy for too long to miss something like that. Shriastae dropped into a low bow, an awkward expression on her face entirely hidden by the fact that she seemed to be addressing the ground. In Eldarai. The ground didn't speak Eldarai. "Your Highness, I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking. I wasn't thinking." First month on the job and she was already on the verge of getting fired. And possibly executed. "Please don't let my negligence reflect on the Angelii, Your Highness. My foolishness is none of their doing."

There was a gentle laugh, and Anya's soft hands unbent the young Angelii and stood Shri up so they were eye to eye.
"Think nothing of it, my dear. I did not address myself to you in that way because I do not feel the need to be bowed to. I was an exile for many years, and such things do not worry me anymore. All I ask is for your honest opinion, your sincere effort and your loyalty to the Queen. I suspect you are likely here to protect me as well, being as I am heir to the throne."
This likely reassured the young Eldorai. The punishments for dereliction of duty were...instructive...but Anya was not worried about that at all.

Then, as if nothing had happened, Anya switched back to Basic. "Come, I'll get you settled in," she said with a smile.
