Angular Shielding. Why stop the enemy fire when you can send it back at their friends.

Tanks. FFE say pfft what tanks.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • A strong but focused double front shield used to angle off blaster and energy weapons away from a specific area of the craft. A small surface area looking for maximum focused protection. Exotic liquid or gel-based weapons such as ionizers or polarity reversers are much less effective as they are blocked, then the shield retracts, dropping them to the ground. Multiple small projectors can be fitted to gain the desired shape of the field.
  • Four shield emitters and sensors allow the generator to put a field up in a specific direction to better deflect a shot as it comes in automatically, not running a field all the time to conserve energy. A Siobhan Kerrigan inspired technique.
  • This is a very well made shield. It rarely breaks down, has a large power cell and requires minimal maintenance. The unit itself comes with a PLA-CORR Coating and Finish - 50% Anti-Corr | 50% Plasteel, giving it good finish to protect against scratching and natural exposure to the elements.
  • Whiteout. When struck the shield forms a very intense field of light at the point of impact, only as big as what was fired at it, deflecting focused light-based weapons very effectively, but potentially blinding the operator to the shooter for the duration of the impact.
STRENGTHS
  • High Resistance to Blaster, Particle, and Exotic liquid and gel-based weaponry. Angled shields send shots bouncing away, sometimes hitting a group who fired it. Similar to a hydrostatic field, any liquid or gel is blocked briefly then dropped. This doesn't allow for underwater use.
  • Well made. A Quadanium Steel Casing and Duranium Structure, make the unit itself resistant to many forms of damage but also a more expensive design to produce. The shield only runs when required, senors registering shots as they approach or begin to impact and conserving energy.
  • Wall of light when struck. Given the whiteout nature of this shield, it is very effective at deflecting solar ionization cannons, or other light-based weaponry, forming its own light field to reflect other light sources when struck.
WEAKNESSES
  • Small but focused area coverage on larger ships, can only be used to reinforce key areas such as a bridge.
  • The brief but focused nature of the shield means underwater use would burn out the generator through constant contact.
  • Almost no Resistance to Explosives, Matter or Kinetic weapons, this shield is a strong energy and light deflector. Only liquid or gel is light enough to repel, the denser matter goes straight through.
  • With a focused light field of its own. The shield is exceptionally good at blocking light-based weapons, but the cost of this is, it blocks the light out too. Meaning for the period you are stuck, you are relying on the craft's sensors, not your visual eyes to give you a reading in the direction of the shooter. Therefore large beam weapons or continued fire aimed at the cockpit are effective at visually blinding the operator of this unit to your firing position.
DESCRIPTION

Apex Log
Directive 8T, Project Lead Giarell and Var'carth Nayus. Codename: Galtech Sio-Shields
Project Cost: 3.2 Million Credits
Total Time to Completion: 4 Years, 7 Months and 4 Days Galactic Standard Time.
Real-time to completion: 20 years, 6 months, 3 days and 14 hours. Real Codename: The Incline Project

Stories tell of a great Dark Jedi by the name of Kerrigan, a warrior of nobility and renown, ever-elusive but always remembered. There are many stories, holomovies, and even a holonet archive called Kerrigan-net dedicated to her galactic conquests and adventures. Giarell was a quiet Lorrdian Nayus who grew up on such stories looking to replicate them, and Var'carth an even less talkative Noghri teacher whose entire village trained their young on their limited knowledge of Kerrigan family exploits, considering her their evolution and a bettering on the Noghri mythos of Lady Vader. Together the Nayus's were a reclusive couple to be sure, and often very introspective as Noghri often preferred to be, but they both had a keen interest in replicating the highest quality application of shield designs in their craft. Attention to detail was something they took pride in, and why they were often employed by Apex under contract to complete more intricate shield designs.

Whether FFE or Apex holdings owes or has paid any credits for the Kerrigan name is unclear, but is considered extremely likely given the application of shield projection is based on her applied effective force barrier techniques, no doubt also in the hope to add to the reach and sales of the technology. The Nayus's family expertise in droids from Galtech was also useful here for integration with a wider range of tank designs. The fact it was a Nayus engineer was not without some nostalgia for the family, as some two decades or longer ago the Kerrigans and the Nayus had almost built similar designs, but the incline project had been canceled due to Fyor's tragic death before its completion. Remembering their commitments is a thing the family is known for, so upon finding the old records a couple of decades later, the project was finally concluded.

The unit itself is a square design with circular shield projectors at angles across the unit which creates a flat barrier. A few of these units can be fitted to the target vehicle to create the desired shape. The whiteout effect is rumored to be from a Galactic alliance strategy called Blackout, and a one sith response called Sithout, in reality the news coverage of the time struck a chord, and so the term whiteout was used in counter to light-based weaponry. Although the Apex Holdings umbrella is quite wide it had to draw on outside help to fully grasp tank designs and implementation on a wider variety of transport craft. Galtech hadn't been purchased by Apex Holdings till this project was complete, with the discovery of the old tank designs, that changed at its conclusion.
