A force to be reckoned with

The speeders transporting victims came in waves. Many of the severely injured citizens had been taken to bacta tanks onboard gunships. There were a few litters were left on the hospitals grounds indicating those poor souls who did not make it. Meret took time to close their eyes and cover their head with their blankets.

She returned to the hospital and observed @[member="Hemlock Briar"] heal one casualty after another. He finished with his patient and approached her. Meret nodded before he even asked; her response was almost automatic. She stood by the next stretched that had a young man with a fractured femur. There were some wooden splinters embedded his lower body. The cold had constricted his blood vessels so his bleeding was minimal. She took his hand and asked, “Can you squeeze my hand?" He did. She whispered in his ear “You are going to be fine, you have a broken leg and that’s easy to fix, my name is Meret, my friend Hemlock will be with you soon, if you concentrate on your breath, it will help with the pain. Take in a deep breath now, blow it out, let’s do that again.”

An older female was crying frantically. “I can’t feel my legs, help me!” It was clear that she had a spinal injury. Meret took her hand and repeated her speech; it calmed the woman down. Meret elevated the foot of the stretcher and placed folded blankets at her sides in an attempt to immobilized her spine. Hemlock was right behind her doing what he said he was going to do. She looked at him and was confident that soon everything was going to be just fine. Eventually, Governor Blackmoon would give her speech to the city council members.

After finishing up on the healing of wounded, Shado stood with arms spread wide as he laughed loudly to add to the spectacle, "I'm sorry, I slipped." There were some minor chuckles at this, "But in all actuality it was simply an illusion of the mind I just used. Made you believe you were going to see one thing but show another. Now however I will truly show my powers over Photokinetic manipulation." Shado said, holding his arms out before himself. Beginning slowly at first, then with a building vigor, shadows began to spread from the ground up like flames. It seemed difficult, but really all it was was making all light vanish from a spot to make the shadows. From there it was simply moving his concentration back and forth that gave the mirage it's life like feel.

"Shadows are my domain!" Shado roared as the small "shadow fire" roared higher and higher in a circle around himself. It didn't stop after he couldn't be seen, no, he kept pushing with his energies until the shadows began to shoot for the clouds above. Inside the silent display Zaiden continued to laugh, for he knew the effect such an image could produce.

Governor Blackmoon and the temporary hospital were joined by, incongruously, a woman in spacer's attire -- a vest and trousers -- wearing two heavy blaster pistols on her hips. Such was the standard attire and loadout for Grand Admiral Shira Karrde, in most circumstances. The Fringe's most senior Master, a member of the ruling council, went down on one knee beside the triage cot.

The splintered bones began to draw back together painfully, the blood vessels knitting. "Dark Repair, some call it," she said absently. "Odd and complex skill. There's greater risk of infection than with Jedi healing, but it's superb for big-picture fixes. You're not a Force-user, are you, Governor Blackmoon? I can't recall."

Belle moved as she looked upon the rest of the ones there. They had plenty going on and even less time to do it while the people she was checking. What better way to possibly find force sensitives then to actually put a few in danger and Belle smirked at the thought while she went about. "Now come on reach out and stop me from stirking you girl, if you don't it will only hurt you."

Lucrezia looked at the people and now some of them were acting politely and some were just going about doing whatever they wanted. She could admit to some impatience but not at the expense of hurting the people. No they would have to be better then that or else the people would rebel and not do what they wanted they would just go and join the Republic. "Please it is okay we are just trying to get some more information on your people."

Elsewhere in the triage center, Rave Merrill, alchemist and bioweapons expert extraordinaire, was applying her own limited Dark Repair skills to the injuries of the suffering. Well, that and the QQ-L13 Kolcta Geltab, courtesy of Consolidated Bacta Limited out of the Fringe world of Verkuyl. Kolcta could reattach limbs under certain circumstances, and when coupled with Dark Repair, it strongly limited the power's tendency to allow infection. The alchemist struggled with compassion from time to time, but this was one circumstance where the task's speed and necessity made her feel blindingly alive. To dispense healing like this...

Well, she'd twisted life, but never before had she really felt like a god.

"What strange creatures these citizen's of Valen are? They are so.... simple. No war except what we bring with us and no real trust issues.... Except with what we might bring and they are strong mentally able to handle more then enough it seems on the telepathic assault. Even a hive mind mentality for defending themselves it is quite interesting compared to other such races. One could spend a few decades learning from them or at the least talking with them and then hold them over a volcano to better udnerstand the real them."

Shinju moved, unlike the other city she had been ordered not to be destructive to their cause which meant playing nice and what better way to be nice then to simply stnad around and make sure the people were okay. Even extracting information from these children had proven easier while she was carrying her daughter around. "Well Bundori this is Valen... a place kind of boring or at least for the moment it is boring. We have plenty of things we could be doing to them but it is time to play nice and impress them. So lets get you some of the local cloths... Ah you have money I can't just kill them"

Aedan Miles was finally back in action and he had decided that this time his loyalties were firmly placed where they belonged. As such he was on a troop transport headed towards ground with what troops he could muster to come with him. Those being a bunch of his old men some piloting fighters others going to ground with their boss but for now he was just reinforcing the Lords of the Fringe as he had been ordered by his new boss. He activated his com as they came into sight of something. "This is Aedan Miles to whoever can tell me where me and my men are most needed give us directions and we will take it from there." He cut the com as he looked down at his armor and weapons sighing lightly. it had been a long time sense he last had to fight on the ground and he was decked out with a sniper rifle, pair of blaster pistols, and the three lightsabers he owned a Shoto, a standard saber, and a saber staff.

CHECKING FOR FORCE SENSITIVES

Balaya continued to test them, now she had taken the time to best acclimate herself. Now sitting there while she got some stares from the people who were drawn by her assets. Not a bad thing but something that helped distract them while she got blood smaples and checked them. Not a bad thing but a way to see if they could use the promise of power to better influence them.

Ashin rose with a grimace, tightening her pained hands. Dark Repair kept knitting broad trauma together, but she was far from a specialist in these arts. Insofar as she specialized, she was a tank, resistant to damage but not great at dealing with it when it occurred. Broadly speaking, anyway.

She snagged a few kolcta geltabs from the new shipment and began applying them to wounds, using Dark Repair to seal the kolcta inside. The synthesis of Dark Side healing and kolcta covered all bases, tiring and expensive though it was. Hearts and minds, she told herself, hearts and minds.

Belle had found one, a girl had fought back and actually smacked her hand away with the force and she held her now by the scruff of her neck while grinning. "See that wasdn't so hard girl now we just have to make you use that more often and stronger. We'll get you trained and you can show your people that the fringe aren't so bad we just made you all stronger."

People appearing out of nowhere, explosions, wounded, and casualties had made Meret apathetic to the events around her. She was experiencing extreme fatigue. The Fringe, most senior member, Master Ashin Varanin addressed her as she knelt by a liter with a wounded explosion victim. “Correct I am not a Force user. I do have some medical training. Lord Vynea brought me a long to give a speech to the locals.” Meret rested her back up against the wall. "I really don’t understand what has taken place I thought this was an outreach by the Fringe, as nation building, sorry I wish we had met under different circumstances.” As soon as Meret completed her sentence her legs collapsed and she slid down the wall and rested in a squatting position. Meret wanted to cry but was to exhausted to shed a tear

The Dark Lord finished knitting together a shattered femur, applied kolcta, and settled down beside Governor Blackmoon.

"Someone told me once your father was from Naboo," she said absently, staring out over the triage center. "My birth mother was from there. I visit every now and again when I need some peace.

"I can't speak to this place and this project. I'm all for hearts and minds, but Fringe gets its job done through rogues as much as professionals. The most callous and violent among us have, perversely enough, saved disproportional amounts of lives. This...well, I just got here, Governor. I have no idea what the situation is. All I can do is heal, and I'm fething poor at that. From my perspective on the ground, who am I to say whether this mess is progress or tragedy? Or can it be both at once?"

Out of the shadows the Lord of the Fringe appeared, wearing his eternal cloak. Some said he liked the mystic appearance the robe gave him. Other said he was a hideous monster, who had to hide himself from the outside worlds. But in reality he was just too lazy to find himself a new look, not that he would share that sentiment with his companions. Being lazy was nothing to flaunt about.

"Is there anything I can help you with, Lady Merrill?"

He was not a good healer, but he could supply her with a steady source of energy. Of that he had enough, refinement might not be his thing but pure power was. The fact that he was going to play for de-facto battery supply for her did not cross his mind.

"Lord Ovmar, a pleasure." Biologically, and mentally in some ways, she was still only eighteen, and when she brushed her hair back behind her ear it was a girl's gesture. "If you could lend me your strength while I finish these next few, it would go a long way. Healing is not my forte," said the alchemist.

"Granted," she added, as her Dark Repair cracked bones back together and repaired major blood vessels brutally and simply, "it's as close to my specialty as anything relevant. The field doesn't have a lot of use for an alchemist. I'm happier making monsters. Did the Doc ever brief you on the Zerek Strain?"

Shado finally let the flames slowly die back down, but not extinguish. Instead he lifted his hand and bent his arms, calling to the shadows which then in a long leash like mist extended to wrap around his arm. Snaking it's way up and around, soon enough the shadows were laying against his armor like a living smoke.

"One day your people we find have talents will return, when they do feats like these will be theirs as well. Well of course not as awesome." More moderate laughter was awarded the display. Then Zaiden launched to a nearby rooftop and called out, "Morna give em a colorful bird in the sky or something. Gimme something to work with."

(Ie make something out of flames in the sky lolz)

Meret looked up at the Dark Lord heard the word Naboo which snapped her out of her exhausted state. “ Naboo, it’s just lovely, hmmm maybe our families know each other. Naboo is a small pond.” Meret had felt like an outsider but that short conversation with Ashin let her know that there was commonality among the faction. It brought her some comfort and gave the motivation to continue on. She looked at the Dark Master and asked “What’s next?”

Ashin smiled faintly, as best she could in these circumstances, and leaned her head back against the wall. She closed her eyes. "Maybe they do, at that. My..." A shrug rasped the wall's grit against her bare shoulders. "I was the child of a rebellious Jedi Padawan and a Naboo noble's daughter, the Cardé family. I was adopted and raised by good people, responsible people -- I grew up as the daughter of a husband-and-wife merchant team. From time to time I visit my birth mother, my grandparents. I love Naboo, but Naboo doesn't love me. The Cardé family doesn't enjoy having spawned the most successful conqueror in the last hundred years."

The Dark Lord shrugged again. "And since that's enough information for a quick HoloNet search to blow my poorly kept secret, I used to be Ashin Cardé Varanin, Sith Empress, Her Majesty Desmius the First. But I find I enjoy being Grand Admiral Karrde of the Fringe a bit more. I get to come to places like this and heal, because this place is about freedom to do what we will. Imagine trying to hold the Sith throne while healing random casualties." She snorted. "They'd have seen it as weakness, and the Dark Council's coup would have happened a good deal earlier.

"As for what happens now, Governor Blackmoon, I'd like your help arranging to clear some ground outside town. I want to drop a prefabricated base near here, loaded with medical and first aid droids. A permanent hospital."

Jared nodded with a feint smile on his lips. "Bacteria that excretes Sith Poison, making the subject far more susceptible to the Dark Side? Yes, the doctor had briefed me about it, I was very impressed, my dear." While answering he softly put his hand on her shoulder, direct contact would make it easier for him to lend his strength. For a while nothing happened, he had not a lot of practice with sharing his power. In his line of work trust was something hard to earn and trust was an important componentto successfully strengthen someone else with your own Force.

Finally after a couple of seconds he opened himself, reaching out towards her Force Signature. The hand on her shoulder made the transfer much more refined, the loss of energy was minimal. Almost as if he was lounging on a bunk he stood there and then decided to make some small talk. "My Lady, why do you not tell me about yourself? We might be here for some more time and I would like to get to know the people I am working with."
