Private A Discussion Over Drinks

Caden realised how long it had been since he had returned to Mandalore.

He sat in the lounge of his apartment, sipping on his caff. There was something on the TV, although Caden didn't quite know what it was. He wasn't really watching it either, it was mostly just on for background noise. In the corner was his Beskar'gam, a relic from his time spent amongst the Mandalorian's. He hadn't worn the armour in years, there hadn't been a need. Despite that he'd ensured it still fit him so that he could use it if needed.

In the other corner was Chirp, powered down and charging. The droid had been of great use since his return to the Jedi Order and it was nice to give the droid some downtime to repower his batteries. The batteries which definitely were due to be replaced at some point. Caden shook his head, figuring that he would get around to that before leaving Mandalore for his next destination.

The Jedi had been paying rent on the apartment for years, despite not using it.

The story about how he acquired the apartment wasn't one he told often. It was a war story and despite it being years ago, Caden still felt slightly guilty about it. Despite everything now being legitimate and honest, despite him sending a payment to the family of those he had taken the apartment from in the first place, he still felt bad about how he had come to own the apartment. At the time it had been through need, now it was just nice to have.

Caden was waiting. He'd been in contact with a former mentor of his and they had agreed to meet. The plan was to discuss the Force, a topic Caden used to hate as a kid but was now finding he seemed to enjoy the older that he grew. Everyone had a different opinion on the Force and more often than not, both opinions were correct and incorrect in their own ways.

The young Jedi was just waiting for the man to arrive.

The Repertoire descended down through the thick clouds of Mandalore, the moisture in the air causing a spiral effect in the wake of the Corvette's thrusters. At the ship's helm, seated in the co-pilot's chair, the droid companion Lexas guided them down towards the coordinates Caedyn Arenais had entered into the Navi-computer.

The vessel was spacious, elaborate and custom-built. It had originally been manufactured for the purpose of Caedyn and his sister Loreena Arenais-Valhoun Loreena Arenais-Valhoun to use when they were teenagers, escorted by an assistant of their Father; However, Lori had acquired her own vessel during her time training and living with the Mandalorian half of their family and thus the Repertoire had always remained in Caedyn's possession.

From the Captain's private cabin, the Jedi Knight could hear the sound of something akin to a metal ball rolling its way toward him. In fact, it was his favourite metal ball, Chip. The BB-8 Astromech came rolling on in with no sense of privacy, giving a loud shrill whistle as he greeted Caedyn enthusiastically.

"Thank you Chip" Caedyn smiled appreciatively and soon instructed the astromech to return to the cockpit; "Go on and tell Lex to proceed with landing protocol. Once we've arrived I'll go on alone" The Jedi Knight informed the droid, who gave a series of chirps and beeps in response.

"No no, nothing like that, this is a social visit" Caedyn chuckled softly, soon waving the droid off encouragingly. BB-8 wasn't a custom-made and purchased droid like Lexas was, but rather he too had once belonged to Veiere Arenais, during the height of the Commenor Systems Alliance. Since the Jedi Master's demise, like all of the man's assets, Chip had fallen into Caedyn's care and had been as loyal as he was lovable, ever since.

The Repertoire had been parked and Caedyn Arenais was now standing within a turbo-lift on his way up to Caden's apartment floor. It was the Jedi Knight's first time on Mandalore despite having ties to their people and culture. His Sister had followed the Mandalorian way of life, trained and lived it, yet Caedyn had taken to the Je'daii Pilgrimage in those days.

It was unfortunate that he had missed out on meeting that side of their family, yet before long there was a conflict between the Order of the Silver Jedi and the Mandalorian Union. Sides were drawn and it was a time of tension for House Arenais.

The chime of the turbo lift signalled Caedyn's arrival and with great relief. It was a miracle that he hadn't found himself lost in the great Mandalorian City. Reaching for the door, the Jedi Knight pressed the holo-call button to inform his host of his arrival, soon placing his hands behind his back, patiently awaiting an answer.

Caden answered the door mere moments after the bell was rung.

He took a few moments to study the Jedi Knight who stood opposite. Caden hadn't seen Caedyn for years, since the days when he served in The Silver Jedi. He remembered a lesson he attended that had been led by Caedyn years prior and he remembered all the times he had seen the Jedi Knight walking around on Kashyyyk. Both had grown quite a lot since then.

"Master Arenais. Caedyn. It's been a while. Please, come on through. Could I fetch you a drink? We have a fair selection in"

The Jedi gestured into the apartment, leading the way. He led Caedyn through to the sitting area, gesturing to one of the couches. Using the Force, he killed whatever was on the television as to not cause a massive distraction. He hadn't even been watching it anyway. Once his guest was comfortable, he set off into the kitchen to begin making drinks.

Caden poured himself another cup of caff, and prepared whatever drink Caedyn had asked for if he had requested one. He carried the drinks (or drink) back through to the seating area and placed it on the table. He took a few moments to study the Jedi Knight opposite him again. Caedyn had definitely grown more mature, even in looks alone and how he carried himself that much was obvious.

"It's been too long. Look at us, both grown up. Both Jedi, doing what we can to protect the galaxy. It's nice. It's also nice to have peace in the galaxy so we can all have time to just catch up with old friends and make new ones, yknow?"

"Just Caedyn, please" The Jedi Knight offered with a dismissive gesture "A cup of stim-caf would be lovely, thank you" Caedyn answered his host, Caden Evesa Caden Evesa who had served alongside the Jedi Knight back in the Order of the Silver Jedi. It had been years since Caedyn had served on Kashyyyk, moving then to Coruscant where he had been for the past couple of years now. The Temple of Coruscant was far larger with vastly more people coming and going from within its walls, it was easy to get lost in the first months and still remained difficult to keep track of every Jedi listed upon the New Jedi Order's roster. "My apologies if I appear late, things have been quite busy in my personal life back on Mnemosyne. Unfortunately, the running of government doesn't spare any time for my 'extra-curricular activities'" he said with his fingers, a sarcastic tone escaping him. According to his peers back home, he should have chosen between being a leader and being a Jedi, not delegating between both.

The Jedi Knight entered Caden's building and followed him into the living area where he would seat himself upon one of the rather comfortable-looking couches offered, "You appear to be doing well for yourself these days my young friend" Caedyn mused, his eyes gazing about the surrounding residence decor; "I didn't realize you had connections to Mandalore. This is actually my first visit" he smiled, knowing it was likely a surprise to hear that Caedyn had never needed to visit the Mandalorian Homeworld before now.

"You're not wrong about the current state of peace for the Core to Mid-Rim. A shame the same cannot be said for the Outer-Rim Territories, given the growing Sith presence out there, but yes it certainly is progress" he remarked, glad to see to the end of the long war that the Galactic Alliance and New Jedi Order had been fighting against.

"On to you, however, to what do I owe the pleasure of this invitation?".
