A boo boo [Healers Circle]

Following the events of: Rocks and Hard Places

Coruscant

Crimson II hurtled through Republic Space toward the coordinates that the pilot had designated.
Said pilot was basically comatose in her focus; and essentially only sitting upright because of the seat's backing. Her complexion was wan, and sweat dotted her hairline and brow; the poison pumping through her veins was under control, but she had been exhausted from her duel on Katarr that she couldn't give it all the focus necessary to extract it from her body.
So, she sought help.

Unfortunately, help was in the depths of Republic space, which was quite far from Katarr; and the ticking hours had taken it's toll on the girl's body. When her ship touched down, the flight control was concerned because nobody stepped out instantly. Republic guards marched up her gangway ramp and straight through the layout of her ship, she could barely rise to greet them. But, she had to split her focus once they did come to her, and the black veil that had been painted over her eyes disappeared.

"Jedi Grayson!" They seemed astounded; they'd seen her in battle before, and never like this. One of the soldiers darted forward and propped her up on his shoulders.

"I need.." her breaths were short, and she had sincerely hoped it wouldn't come to this. Heck, it would have been better if one of her own Jedi had carried her in. On that note, before going into stasis mode with self-preserving meditation, she'd overriden her last message to @[member="Marcello Matteo"] and updated him with the new coordinates. "Jedi Healer's Circle." She saw them glance between each other, not knowing where that was. Great. With an ounce of energy that should have been used to keep herself alive, she poured an image of the rebuilt area into their minds, so they could efficiently and effectively transport there. At first, they seemed uncomfortable with Ashla being used on them, but they quickly got to work and stuffed her into a speeder, where she leaned against the cab wall for support, furrowing her brows in focus. She could see the Vong Poison's molecules being defeated by her, but she needed more.

Soon, the party arrived at the mouth of the Circle.

Leori was just arriving at the Jedi Healer's Circle when Jedi Master Kiskla Grayson was being carried out of a speeder toward the mouth of the facility. She had actually come to join Rianna officially at the Healer's Circle after her invitation, and Marcello's suggestion. And, it seemed that she'd arrived right in time.

The Jedi Master moved toward the soldiers that carried someone clearly in need of assistance. And she called to the soldiers. "What has happened? Come this way." Normally, she could use the Force to carry an injured or ill being into the facility, but since she was already being carried it was smarter to reserve her energies for the task at hand. Leori did however, use the Force to push open the doors of the facility.

Quickly her eyes glanced around the facility in order to get a sense of the layout. It was familiar, but not at the same time. She called to the being at the reception area. "Alert Master Organa immediately, I will need her help."

The being nodded to her and pointed her in the direction she needed to go. Leori led the way briskly.

@[member="Kiskla Grayson"] @[member="Rianna Organa"]

"I'm basically fine," Kiskla whispered as the flight attendants continued to offer her their shoulder and lead her and Leori down the hallway the attendant had directed them. "Tired." That was an understatement; she'd expelled a lot of energy feigning off a Sith attack on Katarr. They were bitter because of the liberation of Korriban under the Jedi's jurisdiction with the aid of The Republic's army.
She was soon lofted onto a medical bed, where she took some of her energy to shoo away the hand that tried to rectify her. Although she appreciated the assistance, she was hard-headed and a determined little thing. She leaned against her elbows, hissing at the stinging flare that rippled up her arm with the movement.

"I was attacked." The Master explained, her brow damp with perspiration and she clenched her teeth to avoid yipping "With Vong Poison." The entrance of the poison on her body would be obvious, it was the only place (other than her back, which could not be seen) that was exposed and bloodied.

@[member="Leori Sheltrak"] | @[member="Rianna Organa"]

The alert reached her, that Master Grayson had been brought in. What had happened to Kiska, had she been hurt in a fight. Rianna did not waste any time as she made her way toward the ward. The message noted that Leori was already there, which was good she was a healer as well and could tend to most wounds, so then what was the case.

As Rianna tried to reason out what was going on she came into the door way to hear the two words no one wanted to hear vong poison. Vong poison Rianna had studied it, had read what Mara Jade had endured. Rianna knew there was a limited amount of time, "Kiskla" Rianna's serious tone could not give enough seriousness to this situation. Rianna moved to Kisla, "How long has it been?" It was important to know there was only a window of 20 hours, and if ....

Rianna kept calm and knew Kiskla too had to remain calm, "keep your heart rate down" Rianna

@[member="Kiskla Grayson"] @[member="Leori Sheltrak"]

. Poison seeped through the pores and entered the victim's bloodstream, interfering with circulation and choking off the oxygen supply. Excruciating pain accompanied twenty hours of suffering until the victim finally died. Jedi Master Mara Jade Skywalker eventually created a biotoxin drill that, if administered early enough, could disrupt the venom's lethal actions. If the venom was delivered through a bite it would cause instant numbness followed by paralysis and death.

Well Kriff, being told to keep calm never worked! It only made her more anxious; but Kiskla bit her lip and winced, feeling breathless again. It came in shocks. Sometimes, she could focus enough to maintain a hold on it. She'd been able to administer the attention herself on her ship, when she didn't need to worry about concealing her identity. But here? She had to divide her attention.

"Kark if I know." The blonde replied, her vocabulary using more cuss words than usual. She was usually quite calm with her language, even in trying matters; but right now, she was in immense pain. How long had it been? Well getting from freaking Katarr to Coruscant would usually take over a day, but Kiskla had literally put the pedal to the metal. She was definitely pushing twenty hours, if not completely over.
A terrible sensation ripped through her body and she gasped. The tips of her fingers and toes were beginning to turn blue from lack of airflow through her body, and she felt as if she were entering a hot, uncomfortable paralysis. "K.." her eyes threatened to roll back, but she fought to keep them open, wincing so fiercely that she pushed liquid out from her tear ducts "Katarr." She really hoped that would be enough to communicated.

As if picking up on the cue, the flight attendant spoke up; "Her ship registered as a hyperspace jump from co-ordinates matching Katarr -- beyond Republic Space. Even with her speed, that's definitely over, or incredibly close to a full day of travel, Master Jedi."

Leori narrowed her eyes. "Yeah... fine is not the word I'd use to describe you." While her fellow Jedi Master settled herself on the bed, she observed her closely.

And the Healer was not surprised to hear that she'd been attacked. However, she was not happy to hear that it was with Vong Poison. Silently she cursed. Slowly and gently she examined the point of entry. It was not a new wound. That was not promising at all.

"Were you hit with the poison anywhere else on your body?" Leori asked, hoping that the answer was no.

Thankfully, Rianna had just arrived, and took over questioning. Now she could get to work. The Jedi Master sat in between the two Jedi, and began to project an aura of calm and healing energies. There wouldn't be many hands directly on, so she would help in the best way that she could. Keeping both of them calm and relaxed was the best she could do.

Rianna swore internally, she looked down at Kiskla, Rianna's mind swept through a dozen techniques but this was imperative. The affects of the crystals should help but it would not cure this, but it would help with damage. "there's a technique that Mara Jade used to fight the poison until she developed the cure, we must work on destroying the poison in her blood, its painstaking but with the two of us," Rianna looked at Leori, "I'm sure we can do it, I will get the lab to pull the designs the cure and have them manufacture it but that will take time"

Rianna put her hand on Kiskla, "you must call upon all your skills for calm" yes she had just repeated herself but it was important, Kiskla was a master SHE could do this. Rianna just knew it. Rianna felt Kiskla's pain, it was rolling off of her in waves. "I"ll get you a sedative" Sedatives were not usually good for patients when you needed them to be interactive.

How much time, was it enough time. Rianna did not know it had already been so long, "we have to find it at its deepest saturation and fight it back to the entry point." Rianna ordered a mild sedative, it would keep Kiskla awake, but the pain should lessen, it would slow her heart and that was imperative at this point. "Leori, are you ready?"

@[member="Kiskla Grayson"] @[member="Leori Sheltrak"]

"No." Kiskla replied to Leori's question, barely above a whisper.

A sedative? Oh no, no no that wasn't good. Kiskla Grayson, only a part of her identity, did her best to squirm in protest; but it manifested as more of a flinch.

She was worried that a drug with a soul purpose being sedation in her system, that she wouldn't be able to maintain her hold on Art of the Small and conceal her tattoos. It's not that they were markings of a teenage mistake; they were marks of her heritage and rooted her back to Kiffu's royal family. A secret unbeknownst to all but one in the galaxy. It's not that Kiskla thought @[member="Rianna Organa"] or @[member="Leori Sheltrak"] traitors of vindictive, but she preferred to maintain a hold on her own secrets and not share them. She was elusive that way.

In protest, a large wave of calm rolled over her body, as if to prove she could handle herself; despite the odds.

Well, at least there was only one entry point. That was a blessing. But that was not going to make this easier. It had been a long time that the poison had to set in.

Leori nodded and got closer to Kiskla. "Yes. I am ready." The poisoned Jedi relaxed and was calmer, which would help. She ceased her efforts to calm Kiskla since she would need to focus her energy on the task at hand. Rianna was the doctor, so she would follow her lead.

@[member="Kiskla Grayson"]
@[member="Rianna Organa"]

Rianna felt the calm and looked back at Kiskla, "Ok no sedative but if you cannot hold on there will be no choice." Rianna called up the comm, and sent all the information on what they needed for the biotoxin drill to heal Kiskla. Time.

Rianna looked at Leori, "find the uncommon, the unnatural within her blood, you will see, purge from her. It will be exhausting for all of us" Rianna put an urgent on the request, it would take time but thank god Mara Jade had left behind what was needed. "I will start on one side, you start on the other, and we will move upwards until we find the poison" Rianna looked again at Kiskla, Mara Jade had survived a long time fighting the poison in the way Rianna was instructing Leori, but it was not a cure, it was temporary.

Rianna closed her eyes, and moved her hands over Kiska's body, all we remaining attuned to her breathing, her heart rate, and her pain level. Rianna breathed deeply. As the two healers worked on of the interns brought to the room one of the healing crystals to help support the efforts of the healers, and help with heling Kiskla's body.

@[member="Leori Sheltrak"] @[member="Kiskla Grayson"]

Leori listened to Rianna's instructions and moved opposite the Jedi Healer and nodded. She too closed her eyes and focused on Kiskla's blood stream. It was certainly a mess. It would be a long haul to clean her blood. And that was only the beginning. But she focused on their present task and got to work. Quickly she developed a pattern, a rhythm, to keep her focused. She worked to the heart beat of Kiskla. Her heart circulated the blood, and so the poison would be pushed out by it's rhythm.

Her own respiration matched the rhythm. It was simply easier to keep the time.

Rianna could feel them swimming through Kiskla's blood, the stead beat of her heart, as ir rose and fell with the degree of her pain. Kiskla's pressure was hard to control as well, she wished for a moment she could know how the team was doing with the biotoxin drill they needed it, and needed it yesterday.

In her mind she could feel the thickness, see the deep red near black coloring. Healers were highly trained to work with the force, work to find the balance between the natural and unnatural. Doctors used medicines, and tools to aide their patients, Jedi used the force. Rianna used both, to find the balance between what she knew as a doctor and what she knew as a healer often conflicted with one another. Kiskla's condition brought out a conflict of what Rianna knew to work, and what she wanted to do.

In the balance hung Kiskla's life. Would there be any damage to her, would that be able to administer the cure soon enough.
Rianna exhaled..

Three hours later

The healers were near exhaustion Rianna had to stop meditation was needed and rest, as she pulled back she looked down Kiskla to check her eyes, her skin. "Kiskla, can you hear me?" Had to know if she was still coherent, still responding. Rianna looked over to Leori who still worked diligently, Rianna thought she saw the wear of the task etched in Leori's face.

Much time had passed, of that she was sure. Leori was sweating from the efforts. The hours had taken their toll on her. But her determination and resolve did not waiver for even a moment. Was she tired? Yes. Was she utterly exhausted? Yes. But that wouldn't stop her. Nothing would, until her job was done.

She could hear Rianna speaking to Kiskla, but she wasn't listening. She wouldn't until her own name was called. There was much work to be done.

For many hours, Kiskla had been dumb to the world. The only audio she heard were slight murmurs. The only sights she saw were so brilliantly blinding that she opted to keep her eyes closed. Etched lines on her face twisted with the off surge of immobilizing pain, and she worked to suppress the poison with the healers. Soon though, they did administer a sedative; just so they could work uninterrupted. It was probably wise because of her nature to always want to be informed.

She wasn't sure what it was, or how long she had been embarrassingly unconscious, but the filter of blurry, brilliant lights flooded through her eyelashes. She could still feel the machinations if the healers in her system; but what she couldn't feel was the oppressive influence of the poison as strongly as she had hours before. The girl squinted against the light, hearing her name.
She tried to speak in reply, letting Rianna know she was okay, but her lips were dry and tingling. She couldn't form a coherent sentence.

The force's mistress blinked pointedly a few times, struggling to focus. Despite her numbness, she felt ten folds better. Instead of replying verbally, since her mouth was so dry and chapped, her head slowly nodded, and she blinked in response.

@[member="Rianna Organa"] | @[member="Leori Sheltrak"]

Rianna was put at ease now, poison that exceeded the blood brain level would have killed Kiska, her ability to understand what was being said to her was a great sign. Rianna called the lab, they were coming with the biotoxin drill, the one that had been used by Mara Jade. Rianna could see Leori still hard at work. She would not interupt her focus, as it was keeping Kiskla at ease. The low murmurs of voices were like a sedative, or salve that would help keep the force flowing in the room, and through the Master's poisoned body.

As the lab technician entered the room nodding to the Jedi present, Rianna motioned for it to be administered. There were no notes exactly how long it would take but knowing how aggressive the poison was, the cure would have to be equally so.

"Leori, they are administering the cure, ease a little to allow it to work." She would not have anyone stop only be mindful. Water was called for in a cup, with a straw, Rianna knew Kiskla was weak and water would be given slowly. Rianna picked up Kiskla's head and titled the straw towards her, "just a little, too much and it may make you sick to you stomach" Rianna closed her eyes focusing the force toward Kiskla to give her strength.

Worst. Friend. Ever.

The Jedi Master walked with purpose through the halls of the Healer's Circle that had only recently be reconstructed. The dark blue color of his eyes focused intently in the expansive corridor before him as he ran a hand through his long blonde hair. In a matter of minutes, he'd arrived at the room occupied by the three Jedi and palmed open the door.

Managing a thin smile despite the situation, the spacer nodded to the two healers before allowing his gaze to settle on Kiskla. "See what happens when you try to have all the fun yourself?" The Jedi Master's smile briefly turned apologetic as he removed his flight jacket and tossed it on an unoccupied stool. "What's the word doctors?"

His question was directed at Leori and Rianna.

@[member="Leori Sheltrak"] | @[member="Rianna Organa"] | @[member="Kiskla Grayson"]

Oh for kriff's sake. This was so embarrassing. Sleepily, her gaze drifted to the wound on the back of her hand, perplexed how one place of entry could take a toll on her body.
Maybe instead of always maintaining her physical and mental, she needed to work on her immune system too.

When @[member="Rianna Organa"] propped her head up, it took ever bit of willpower not to press her lips together and refuse the assistance. Kiskla's humility could only go so far. But, these two women were sapping their own energy on her behalf, just to keep her stable. She really had nothing to lose in the sake of reputation anymore. With an awkward fumble of her lips (which sometimes happened when they were so pouted) the straw found a nook to rest on, and the girl applied the appropriate pressure to bring some of the water through the straw to her tongue.

Shluck. Shluck.

She almost gagged when their little trio was interrupted, and in came back up with something called a drill? Call it cacophonous, but I don't think any patient wants to hear the word drill in such a situation. She cringed visibly when the attendants went about their business, and she forced the straw from her mouth.

As soon as the drill touched her skin, Kiskla's innate Psychometery ability kicked into overdrive and she clenched her palms as her metaphysical self was thrown through this traumatic experience twice over. She could see the biotoxin at work on a red-headed Jedi akin to Skywalker of old. It was indeed Mara Jade. There was a process to pull her from the toxin too — but as the time and story travelled, Mara came out cured.

Kiskla relaxed as the vision faded.

Then she tensed again when a voice aired that belonged to neither @[member="Leori Sheltrak"] or Rianna.

Oh look who finally decided to turn up after Necropolis and Katarr. Had she been in better condition, she would have returned @[member="Marcello Matteo"]’s commentary with something far more snide; but a worthy rebuttal. As it stood, however, she was still pathetically mute.

Rianna picked her head up to turn towards a familiar voice, "Marcello" She was happy to see her friend, "You're late, with the administration of this biotoxin, the battle is nearly over and the recovery to begin" Now this was interesting that Marcello was here, hmm she would keep her thoughts on it for later. The Jedi Master who seemed to be everywhere.

"Marcello if you want to help rather than observe, you can come here and help Kiskla with the water, while I work with the biotoxin" Rianna looked over to Leori how was she holding up she still looked awfully tired to Rianna. Rianna could feel the biotoxin coursing through the bloodstream, how fast it would be remained to be seen, and would it cause her more pain, Rianna still wasn't sure. But it should take care of most of the poison. The problem with medicine, sometimes it was a crap shoot on what worked.

@[member="Kiskla Grayson"] @[member="Marcello Matteo"] @[member="Leori Sheltrak"]

Marcello looked from Rianna to Kiskla as he continued to absorb the scene. Kiskla looked, for lack of a better word, pathetic. Rihanna's suggestion about helping with water though was...spot on. Flashing a mischievous smile in Kiskla's direction, the Jedi Master casually moved out of her line of sight and began rummaging through a few drawers.

Moments later, he appeared just to Kiskla's side and set the materials he'd gathered down on the table. Reaching for the water, Marcello retrieved it and unceremoniously tossed it aside. Gathering the intravenous setup he'd acquired, Marcello held it in his hand as he squeezed Kiskla's arm firmly with his right. Once a vein was plainly visible, he deftly inserted the needle. Setting down the fluid line, he connected the receiving aperture to a saline bag and adjusted the flow.

Kiskla would instantly start to feel better and more hydrated without having to do a thing. Locking his dark lie gaze with her cerulean, the Jedi Master winked briefly before stepping to the side to remain out of the way.

@[member="Kiskla Grayson"]
@[member="Rianna Organa"]

Leori heard Rianna address her, and she complied, knowing what the Jedi Master said to be true. She eased back, and instead monitored the progress of the cure very closely and stayed prepared to resume her full efforts should it become necessary to do so.

She felt the presence of her former apprentice getting closer and stopping near them before addressing them. Leori did not answer, for she was otherwise engaged. But she knew that Rianna would update him.

Just keep working.
