“Our expedition was attacked by Imperial forces en route to deliver aid to subjugated worlds. We were carrying refugees to sanctuary in the Unknown Regions when it happened. I intended to stay and help, but my guards forced me into an escape pod against my wishes. The pod crashed on an uncharted planet nearby. I was stranded there. I didn’t know where the others ended up. I still don’t know, and that pains me.”
“What sustained you during that time?”
“Physically, I survived on escape pod rations and whatever I could scrounge from the natural world around me. Mentally and emotionally, I… It was hard. I stayed alive by thinking of my family, though that was sometimes painful. I would think about how worried they were, not knowing what had happened to me. But I never gave up, and neither did they.”
“How were you found?”
“The Queen has had scout vessels tracing the possible routes of our expedition for quite some time. It was a combination of diligence, patience, and a bit of luck. Once my rescuers finally found me, they admitted they weren’t expecting to recover anything more than my remains. I’m glad to have proved them wrong.”
“Queen Amani has ruled in your absence under extraordinary circumstances. Did you ever anticipate that she might one day have to govern alone?”
“The thought crossed my mind, though I never thought it would happen this way. But I know she’s strong, and I’m proud that she rose to the occasion. I also know Liana has taken on a position of her own with the High Republic. I’m proud of her as well.”
“How do you see your roles evolving now that you’ve returned?”
“I intend to resume my duties as King of Alderaan, effective immediately. Queen Amani will continue to rule at my side. Beyond that, there is little else to say on the matter.”
“Among some noble houses there are those who question the current structure of power. What would you say to those who feel uncertain about the future of the throne?”
“I’m fully informed of the tensions that have arisen in my absence. I am disappointed in the stance of those who sought to undermine my queen on the basis of her heritage or lack of royal blood. She is my wife and the mother of my children, the heirs to the throne. As for the rest, I hope that we can put aside our differences and work to rebuild trust between the Great Houses.”
“Do you believe Alderaan is safe in the current political climate of the galaxy?”
“The galaxy is an uncertain place. Even more so than when I disappeared from it. But I can promise you that I will do everything in my power to ensure a safe, free, and prosperous future for all of Alderaan. If we have faith in each other, in our people, we will weather whatever the galaxy throws at us.”
